Plenty of parking. The womens restroom is FILTHY. When I dropped my pet off I used the facilities. When I returned to pick my pet up I used the facilities & the same trash that was on the floor more than 5 hours prior was still on the floor, & the trash cans were overflowing which means no one bothered to cleaned the restroom. Disgusting. The staff at the PetsHotel are friendly. Getting info about my pets stay always seems to be the same scripted answer. I've noticed each time I arrive to pick up my pet no one is out front, there is no bell to alert that you're waiting so you're just standing hoping someone will notice you. Calling to check on your pet is hit or miss. I don't like that I've never seen the facilities where my pet is housed. No tour. No cameras. I'll be looking for other options in the area. read more

I'm writing this months later because I'm still stunned by how bad my experience was at their grooming facility and I was also just quoted over $200 to fix the damage they did to my dog's coat. I brought my golden retriever in for the full package: ear cleaning, nail trim, bath, and groom. If you have a golden, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. The haircut alone was the worst I've ever seen, but the bigger issue is that they simply didn't do the services I paid for. When I picked her up and walked her around the store for treats, I realized she smelled worse than when I dropped her off. Her ears were still full of wax, her nails hadn't been trimmed, her coat felt dirty, and the grooming itself was shockingly uneven. I bathe my dog weekly, so she is never in that condition, and I initially assumed maybe they'd forgotten to rinse a product or had used a shampoo with a funky smell. I went back into the salon and asked if she had been bathed. The employee flatly said yes. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and asked to smell the shampoo they used, thinking maybe the scent had changed, but it clearly didn't match what was on my dog. When I asked again, three employees came out and responded with condescending, dismissive attitudes. Their red-haired manager rolled his eyes before walking me over for a refund. For the record, I wasn't even looking for a refund, it was a gift card. I just wanted to understand how a grooming appointment could go so wrong. When I got home and bathed her myself, the water ran nearly black, something that has never happened before. Her paw pads had been shaved unevenly, her coat was damaged, and the professional groomer who corrected it asked if a toddler with scissors had gotten to her. I contacted corporate at the time and never heard back. I have never once left a negative reviews for any business ever, but when it comes to my dog, I will absolutely speak up. This was my worst experience with dog grooming. I've taken my dog there for the past two years, but this visit was the most disappointing. The haircut was subpar, and they missed a lot of his body hair. It looked like someone inexperienced handled it. The groomer didn't even bother to call me when they finished. I ended up waiting for almost four hours before deciding to check on the situation. When I got there, they claimed he was done a while ago and seemed unaware that no one had contacted me. After repeatedly asking them to watch how close they groom Tito he returns with uneven buzz marks on raw skin in patches. The face is nicely shaped and he had some matting this time but the shaving of the legs with raw patches is unacceptable. I was here so I stopped in. More curiosity than anything else. I use to live in a zoo w/my former girlfriend a lifetime ago. We had 3 dogs totaling 270 lbs (2) Female Akitas Misha & Nakita @ 100 lbs a piece & Morgan male Golden Retriever around 70 lbs. we also had 7 cats, salt water & fresh water fish tank, birds & a baby Burmese python about 2'-0" long & 3/4" in diameter. We went to a herpetological meeting by Lincoln Park. There was a 55 gallon drum in the front. 5 full grown men pulled out a Burmese python that was 20'-0" long & weighed around 200 lbs. after seeing this beast & realizing how big the baby Burmese Python could get we traded it for a baby boa. Having never been in a Pets Smart I was hoping to see some puppies only to find out that they don't have dogs for viewing or for sale. I walked around the store & saw a ton of products geared towards pet owners (go figure Pet Smart duhhh). They had all sorts of goodies foods for dogs cats, a section w/fish tanks, Aquarium accessories & live fish for sale. There was a section accessories & toys for pet lovers. Go figure Pet Smart lol . I would have liked to see some live animals (especially dogs). They didn't have these stores back in the day when I had my dogs. People were coming in w/their pooches. Saleena and Jesslyn G are my go to groomers at PetSmart on Elston. I totally trust them with my Yorkie/Havanese. He always comes out looking so good. Groomed just the way I requested and smelling great. The grooming services here are very affordable compared to other grooming places in the area. I also like that they check that your dog is up-to-date on their vaccines and rabies shots. With all the diseases going around now between dogs, that gives me peace of mind. After reading the other reviews I was a little worried about taking my tiny angel man here for grooming. As a smooth haired chihuahua mix, all he needs is a bath, nails trimmed (I requested the grinder only) and teeth brushed so it doesn't take too long. He was actually done in about 45 minutes. For the first few minutes he pretended like he was mad at me for leaving him but he forgot about that quickly. He smells great, especially his breath. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the original appointment I made online didn't show up on their end and I had to reschedule when I took him in. Not a huge deal since I only live a block away and they got me in right away. read more

I did not get the managers name, but he worked there today 3/31/25 at 8:25 pm. He was very rude. He said my prescription could only be used for Hills Diet brand. I did not argue with him, but he had to point out 3 times that he is the manager and that no one at that store is going to sell me any other brand than Hills Diet. I was not arguing with him or telling him he's wrong, so I do not inderstand why he kept saying that. read more

A Welcoming place for all your pets needs. I usually go to petsmart for dog food and snacks. The staff is really friendly and are more than happy to help when you need help looking for something. However, we started taking our dog to the grooming part of the store. The first time they asked for our dogs vaccines, which we were able to provide. However, when we went the second time they needed them again because the employee that took care of us last time did not put it in the system. Therefore, my suggestion is to make sure with the employee that the vaccines are up to date because they WILL NOT take your dog in until they see their vaccines. Moreover, the groomers are fast and do a great job with each of their pet clients. I will continue to take my dog to this location for their efficiency and their reasonable prices. read more

Worst service I've ever had. I made my appt with someone who sounded new (had to ask other coworkers how to schedule my booking) When I showed, I don't know what happened but they didn't have my reservation. The staff stated "well we can't fit him in" I said "he's not being fit in, I made an appointment" The response was rude and I was simply dismissed. I spoke with the manager who said he would "look into it" and offered me a free grooming appt, and would call me back. SHOCKER, they never called back. Apparently no one can get it together there. My dog has had to go to the vet twice after a visit at the groomer at this location because they cut him too close in the groin area. When I called to speak with someone to schedule an appointment the staff member was very rude. I asked for the manager to express my concerns about the staff member and my dog and he blew me and my concerns off. I love this petsmart. I have tried many daycamp places and was skeptical at first but pets hotel has been the most affordable that works for my hours. The pets hotel staff is always so kind, love and know my dog (which goes a long way) and always give a description of his behavior when I pick him up. I love that they split group into sizes and watch over them when they play, and give appropriate time outs when needed. I've also had a great experience with the training. We had Laura as our trainer and I saw my dog blossom so much through her training (obviously we had to practice that work outside of class). I don't think I would be comfortable taking my dog anywhere else! And in this economy you cannot beat the prices. read more

I went to this Petsmart because I needed crickets for my class pet. When I got there, I noticed no one was in the pet-care section. This is pretty usual these days. I hit their assistance/call button to let someone know I was waiting for help. Customers walked by as I waited..... and waited... and waited. After waiting 12 minutes, I thought about going to complain to a manager, but I decided not to, since I used to work for Petsmart myself and I didn't want to get anyone in trouble. Instead, I figured I'd go ahead and start writing up the SKU numbers for the small and large crickets on the plastic bags, so that when an employee finally did come, they wouldn't take even more time writing the SKU numbers and amount of crickets I wanted. As I was finishing the numbers on the second bag, a skinny young woman with brown hair in a ponytail came over and rudely asked me if I needed help. Obviously, if I'm doing her job for her, I needed help, right? So I kindly replied, "Yep! I need large and small crickets." She asked if I had pressed the call button. I told her I did. She said she didn't hear it. (Ookaaaay? How. It's in your headphones and the machine is around your waist?). As she reached the counter I was writing at, she snatched the bags I wrote on and bluntly told me "don't ever touch my stuff". Just like that. It hurt my feelings that she would respond to me like that after making me wait over 12 minutes for service and I was helping her! Instead of using the bags I wrote for her, she crossed off the writing I did from the first bag and rewrote the SKU and amount again, then she got a second new bag and wrote the SKU for the second bag completely over, wasting even more time (probably on purpose). Sadly, I'm aware that many pet care employees like to hide in the back during their shift so they can do the least work possible, then waste my time. Nonetheless, I'm disappointed that people like this work here with animals. I hope she treats the animals with more respect than she treats the customers. read more

I really should have read the reviews prior to taking my dog. The grooming services are awful, and NOT cheap. We spent $52 and it's like he was never groomed. They told us they'd express his anal glands and he's still irritated by them. I don't believe they ever brushed his teeth like they said they would. We will not be coming back. read more

What else says love like my Frida that's chewed up a sofa, destroyed her ergonomic bed, won't let you watch tv in peace without being belly rubbed, or simply starts barking at you for no reason? When this happens, daddy needs a mental rest day. That's when I bring her here. PS has grooming if I need a few hours, daycare if I need an afternoon, or a hotel when I've had enough with parenting and need a day or 2. Their staff is friendly and responsive. Frida is so intense, that they all know her by name (and coincidentally walk away when they see this Tasmanian devil walk in). So, if your furbaby got you to drinking or raging, bring them here. I think the only real issue is that they are not quick with sending you your baby's portraits when they have events with a photographer for the day. read more

Come to find out that they placed him in the standard room which meant that he was exposed to all of the dog barking and didn't allow him to sleep. I took my dog here for boarding and so many things went wrong. 1) The call center rep confirmed my appointment verbally several times, which was Tuesday through Friday. When I arrive at the appointment it was booked for just one night. Considering it's the week prior to a holiday making me drive across town and my reservation isn't secure is a waste of time. The private room I booked was no longer available when I arrived. 2) I check in and say,"My dog has severe allergies. Please do not give her anything else to eat besides the food and treats I am giving you." Hands pre-bagged food, medicines, and a bag of treats. Adds,"Her allergies are so severe that if she eats anything besides this she will usually get an ear irritation, itchy skin, and diarrhea, which could lead to pain for her and extra vet bills for me." They respond,"We understand and will not give her anything but her food and these approved treats in the bag." I arrive early my dog comes home with violent diarrhea. The kind where you have to wonder if the hot poop lava will ever stop coming out of her butt. After she's done violently pooping, and whining for help she lays down and rubs her ear against the carpet. Not only did they give my dog treats I asked them not to they gave her a lot of them. She's ill. I don't know if Imodium AD and extra allergy medicine will help so I may have to call off work and take her to the vet in the AM. - Waste my money - Waste my time - Ruin my pets health - Lie to me and promise me you won't do it! It's a hard no on this place. I could've spent less and taken her to places where she would've been walked and directions for her care would've been followed. I will know better next time. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I took my dog to get groomed here and the next day he kept crying and was unable to sit. We went back to petsmart where they informed us his groomer ( Jesselyn G) was new and it seemed like he got irritated down there due to the grooming. They provided a spray for us to apply on him for 2 days. when asked if my dog licked the area it would be okay they said yes. The following day my dog was worst! Not sleeping , crying, not able to sit, not being himself :( I called them back and they told me their vet would be able to see him in 2 days. I took him back and they gave us a cone for him now 3 days after the grooming. My dog was miserable so I decided to take him to another vet to get seen sooner. This vet gave us a topical cream and pills because he said my dog was so irritated from the grooming. I informed petsmart about this & they said they were unable to refund me any cost because it was not their vet who saw him. Eventually they did agree to only refund me the cost for the medicine but the $100 groom became a $300 groom because of their actions. Never coming back again! read more

I've been in dog rescue for 15 years and I understand that mistakes happen but this could have totally been prevented. First of all, the trainer should NEVER have left the training class to go help customers. There were at least 10 dogs in a small room. She should have shown them how to exit properly. Instead she left to check people in?!!! Second of all, this dog should have NEVER been in this class. It was obviously extremely aggressive and this was a beginner dog training class. Third, they should be properly trained to break up fights. The poor little white fluffy dog was being viciously attacked while people screamed and cried trying to free it from the larger dog. At one point a brave man went up and kicked the big dog several times but that didn't help. I'm pretty sure the owner watch her dog die a slow painful death while standing there helpless. On top of it all, they never even reached out to us after to address what happened. I had to call to make sure this was all being reviewed and addressed properly. I obviously got a refund for a very traumatic experience. BE AWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

So I have frequented this PetSmart more often recently than any other stores I can think of in the past. I was tasked in my job of setting up a fish tank for one of the communities. After lots of companies letting us down we ended up doing this ourselves. But, not alone thanks to PetSmart!. With many trips with questions tank and supply purchases. Stocking fish a few times and weeks after with their support it has been a success! The staff here is really great and knowledgeable. The same people we talked to and started with are the same we came back to 8 weeks later. Great staff with a well stocked store. Thanks for the great service. Wish when calling you could check stock. They specifically don't let you do this which caused some delays but the other PetSmart location made it ok with discounts. A simple let us check stock with a phone call would earn that 5th star. But they don't do that yet. read more

Lovely little PetSmart location. It's not the biggest but it's quite close to my place and has everything I could need. Staff aren't overly helpful or anything but I've always found them pleasant enough. Huge parking lot which is always a big plus in Bucktown/Logan Square/Avondale - this location is considered Bucktown but is right on the border of all three areas. This location has a big ol' PetsHotel which though I never have used it - name implies it's a home away from home for pets while you're out of town. Use coupons, use iBotta (coupon app) and their PetSmart savings card and you can walk out the door with some super cheapo bags of food for your little one. read more

I think this is one of the better Petsmart locations that I've been too. It's one of the larger locations so they have a lot of items that other Petsmarts don't carry. My husband and I decided to rejuvenate our fish tank again and needed some new parts to get it going. They have a nice selection of aquarium decorations here for fish tanks and reptilian tanks. So I decided to pick up a nice basking log for my pet turtle as well. The associates are super friendly and helpful. My husband must have been talking to one of those guys for like 30 minutes. He had a lot of questions and also likes to talk a lot. Shout out to Mauricio at this location for answering all of my husband's questions to the best of his abilities! I knocked off a star because it smelled a little weird around the fish area, but not that fishy smell. I think it was those damn live crickets hanging around as the container they were housed in was slightly opened, tempting those creatures to jump out at me! Anyways, they have lots of things going on here such as a PetHotel, a grooming parlor, a cat adoption center, along with live pets such as fish, snakes, hamsters, guinea pigs, and birds. This pet store is a one stop shop for me and I've been going here for quite some time now. 2 hours before my original appointment they called to tell me they're closing early and ask if I can bring him an hour early. I couldn't because I was working so they rescheduled him for a few days later. This was his first grooming appointment so they had to verify his shot record. She tried to tell me his shots had expired and I told her that's not possible - she was reading the given dates as the expiration dates. Even so, he's a puppy so it's not possible he would've had his shots a year ago because he wasn't born. This should've been the first red flag. I picked him up and he was unrecognizable-which is hard to do because they only trim eyes, feet and sanitary areas for puppies. they shaved too close to his skin and cut his nails so short they started bleeding as soon as he walked on them. Took my 6 month old puppy,Olympus, to get a nail trim and grind today and, although he was extremely fussy and tried to nip at the girls doing the trimming, they were very patient and loving with him and calmed him down with treats. Jesselyn did a great job with his nails and I am surprised at how great they turned out comsidering how much he kept moving the whole time! My Persian cat had the best grooming experience here. I don't know what Jesselyn did but he returned so relaxed and a week later continues to be more affectionate than ever. She dematted him gently and complied with our desire to only shave the mats and not all of his fur. It isn't the prettiest but we love it and do does he. Warning: Not professional groomers. They hire people off the street who don't know what they're doing to cut your dog's fur. I could (& have) do a better job myself. Their clippers have to be either dull or not of professional quality. We should have turned tail & skedoodled out of there when we saw a cute, chestnut little possible poodle-looking dog (couldn't tell) screeching from the clippers. I even showed them what my dog should look like & she came out a choppy mess still complete with tear & beard stains. They seem to have visibly been in a rush. I even had to trim some of the fly-aways in her ears & near her eyebrows myself when we got home so as to save my little girl the embarrassment in front of her dog park crew. I feel like dogs can tell when their fur is jacked up...even though they don't check themselves out in mirrors like we do. She kinda just delt with it when we were all settled in at home instead of smiling like she usually does after being groomed. To top it all off I told them that I didn't want tooth brushing bc I do it for them at home. They still charged me for it & I had to bring it to their attention. Not worth the $45. The service I got here was disgusting and appalling and as a former PetSmart employee I am shocked at how low the quality of customer service is. On Saturday March 16th I took my lab/sharpei mix to go play at the doggie day camp as I have numerous times before. The girl at check in told me that everyone loves my dog there and that she always does really really well at camp. Of course she does. She's a social girl who loves other dogs. At around 2 pm I get a text from the manager saying that my dog is no longer welcome because she looks like a pitbull and that she is reactive. Okay ??? What does that mean. So basically my poor dog was kicked out of playing with other dogs because she "looks" a certain way?? Mind you, all of her paperwork that I have all says lab mix and she has played there numerous times before. Apparently the new hotel manager has a problem with my dog. And it doesn't stop there. I called corporate that same day and they said that someone was going to reach me to solve this issue. All I got was a email from their ASL, whatever that means, saying how they're sorry and that they invited me back into the store. How is that going to help me with my issue when you guys banned my dog for looking like a breed that she isn't??? To add insult to injury, they sent me a coupon for $5 off of $25 so I can come in and spend even more money with them. This has been the worst service ever that I've received and it's really not ok what they're doing. I would not recommend this place to a stranger on the street, let alone a good friend. I've taken my dog here twice and something has happened both times. The first time we had only left him for a few hours, and when we picked him up and returned home, we noticed he had gash on his leg. We called them and asked if they had noticed, to which they said they had not. Fast forward to TODAY. We pick up our pup and notice his skin is VERY red. We have told them in the past and when we dropped him off that he is allergic to metal so he can not eat out of metal bowls. Of course they were reassuring us that this would not happen, but his skin tells us otherwise. On top of that, he has some type of wound on his paw and gash on his paw. How does this happen TWICE?! We called to see how he was multiple times. If someone had checked on him they would have noticed his marks....So with this happening twice, on top of his red swollen eyes/snout/paws, we will not be returning to this doggie day camp or hotel. read more
