My King Charles spaniel Sally loves coming here SO much. We had a family situation out of town where she had to be boarded very young (14 weeks old) and she has loved it ever since. Me and my small 9lb dog love earth pups! My dog is afraid of big dogs and won't play with them so I feel like I don't get my money's worth at the "big chain" boarding locations. I have been sending Stevie to earth pups for over two years now. She loves it and always comes back very tired. Staff is great about updating their Instagram with photos of the dogs but will also email specific photos if you ask. See examples below. We also do grooming here and I far prefer them to other locations. I will continue coming here even though it is a little farther away for me because of the quality of service. My husband and I recently added another dog to our family. We have a 3 month old Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix named Daisy. Daisy was in desperate need of grooming and we took her into Earth Pups for her first haircut. Kelly did such an amazing job on little Daisy. When Daisy went in to Earth Pups, she was very shaggy and she came out a new little girl! Daisy has more confidence now that she can see and has better traction on her paws. Most grooming places only do a little at a time for a first haircut. I was extremely happy to see Daisy received full on haircut and not just a trim. Love this place! Julie was awesome, very personal and you can tell she really cares about each and every single one of the doggies there. On top of that, they are very flexible and accommodating. We were supposed to go on a trip over Christmas, so we dropped off our puppy Caesar in the morning. Then we ended up not making it, so I had to call them to see if we can pick up Caesar. They had no problem with it even though it's already 6pm. Then two days later we decided to go on another trip (yes, we do random trips), and I called them the day before to see if they can take Caesar. Again, very accommodating and no problem with it. After we got back and we went to pick up Caesar, they wiped him clean, and he looked just as happy as he always looks. The best part? They suffered and looked horrible with brown blotchy spots throughout their body! Nails were not trimmed- how does one overlook nails?! Standard! For starters, she didn't even greet me on the phone, and when I asked about availability, she just kept saying, "no, no, no!" My chihuahua mix is always happy and calm after a day or a weekend at Earth Pups. They usually know her by name (which is awesome because she only goes a few times per year) so it's nice to see they take the time to get to know the dogs and makes me feel good about how she's treated. It's been a few weeks since my husband and I moved to Michigan from Chicago and we still talk about how much we miss Earth Pups. Our pug, Egg Roll, probably still misses it too. She LOVED it there. Sure, we've found a new place, but it's not the same. To start, EP spoils you because they make everything so easy. Ridiculously friendly staff, super clean facility, no add-on's, surcharges, glitchy online scheduling, etc. Often we'd call the morning of and they'd be happy to accommodate our pug. EP would also feed Egg Roll dinner (we brought in our own food) which I didn't realize was out of the ordinary until moving here. My husband and I boarded numerous times also, including once for nine days when she was just 7 or so months old. They took perfect care of her. EP lets you bring your pet's bed, toys, food, treats, medicine, you name it, in order to make your pet as comfortable as possible. Again, not the norm at the places we've encountered here in Michigan. That's what I mean by spoiled! One place here quoted us $4 per "break" - I.e., a charge for a rest period separate from the play group. Our pug doesn't moderate when it comes to play, so breaks are important to ensure she doesn't get overheated or overtired. A few times we tried out other doggie daycare places in Chicago given that EP could be as much as 35+ minutes out of the way for my husband due to traffic in the morning, but we could never find a place that provided the same level of care and peace of mind as Earth Pups so we always came back. Earth Pups will always be the gold standard for us. We will always appreciate all of the ways in which they went above and beyond for our pug. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Go here. If I could give NEGATIVE STARS I would. So about 10 days ago, I went out of town. Took my loving Boston Terrier for a whopping 4 days. Dropped her on Friday morning, picked her up on Tuesday morning. The place is supposed to be just for dogs 20lbs and under. They claim to do behavioral studies of each dog before letting them stay there. Well I picked up my dog on Tuesday, she wouldn't open her right eye and had puss coming out of it. I asked what happened the response from the employee was "Oh we noticed that". So took her to the Vet. Vet said she was attacked by another dog scratching her eye bad. Immediate meds and antibiotics given, but it did not improve. Actually got worse. The Animal Eye surgeon specialist now says she has permanent vision loss and we may have to remove her eye completely. Contacted Earth Pups to get their videos to see if we can see the incident so as to better treat the dog. They initially said they would review and let me know. But this morning, no review, just a letter to contact their attorney!! Anyone else think they screwed up bad and are hiding it??? I mean, why not give us any records or videos that may help. Such as, which dog attacked her, the shot records of that dog, maybe contact the owner of the offending dog and see if we can test the paws for bacteria that might be the cause of the infection.. .. NO they would rather LAWYER UP and let my baby suffer!! IN other words, I am saying NEVER EVER EVER take your loving dogs to EARTH PUPS on Belmont!!!! Horrid!! Earth Pups will never get my business or recommendation again. I would suggest if you truly love your dog, don't take them to Earth Pups.... Why hide the information, when it could help the health and recovery of a loving dog? I guess you don't really love dogs, but love protecting your backside more! Oh yeah, as soon as my baby is healthy, I will contact your attorney!!! *** UPDATE **** Through their attorney, we received statements from all the employees. All said they saw nothing. So I am not sure if they are all working together to cover up something. OR WORSE, they didn't see an incident that left my dog blind in one eye, despite their watching and caring for my dog being THEIR JOB!!! So they either are lying or just suck at their job. I mean this wasn't a little thing. My baby dog is now BLIND in one eye. The risk of losing it still remains as now that we finally figured out the bacterial infection, it seems Surgery is set for this week. They saw nothing, I see my baby suffering and a $4,000 bill for meds, vet visits and surgery, let alone the time off of work needed to care for my baby girl. I will be posting another photo showing the deep gash to the Cornea. #### UPDATE #2 On Aug 14, we took our sweet girl in for surgery to put a graft over the eye were the massively deep laceration was. The graft had appeared to be holding and doing well. The checkup on the 21st went well, although she still had no sight we were hopeful as things seemed to be improving. This morning in the wee hours of 8/23, a large 'YELP" came from my little girl. Blood and liquid was rushing out of her eye. It had ruptured. Emergency surgery is going on at present to completely remove the eye. All professionals that have seen the eye, the bruising around it, etc. All say that it wasn't a little love tap in a game, but a strong attack from another dog. Earth Pups still reports they saw no such attack. So If you care for your dogs, think hard and long about ever taking them to Earth Pups, it is obvious that (even if they are truthful that they didn't see anything) they don't pay attention to keep your pets safe. Mine now has lost her eye forever because of their carelessness and negligence. I trusted my baby girl to their care, and now she has lost her right eye for it. read more

I play this game with friends called "When in Heaven." It goes like this, "Hey friend, if you were in heaven and could only eat 10 things for eternity, what would be in your heaven buffet?" or "Hey friend, if your heaven only had one temperature to stay at for eternity, what would it be?" One day, I decided to play this game with my 2 year old schnoodle, Paddington. "Hey Paddington, if you could be surrounded by whatever you wanted in heaven, what would it be?" You can imagine his answers - "...tons of cute girl dogs, cool boy dogs to rumble with, lots of padded indoor/outdoor floor to romp over, incredibly delicious organic treats at the end of each day, and super sweet people to pet me. Oh, and I also want it all eco-friendly." Then I realized...wait a second, he was describing Earth Pups! Was he cheating at my game? Or is Earth Pups in fact heaven on Earth? It ends up Earth Pups is my pup's dream scream. Julie, the jovial and steel-memory owner, has created a gorgeously comfortable environment for dogs of all breeds. This is the only small-dogs-only clubhouse that is clean, affordable, outrageously friendly, and fun for humans too! Earth Pups throws annual parties for pups and their humans! Paddington has a list of regular friends that he can't sleep the night before waiting to see them. The front room/storefront is well organized, cutely decorated, and impressively varied with goodies. Everyone knows Paddington by his first name when he walks in and we know full well that our son is being well taken care of. He always looks dashingly handsome and dapper after each grooming by EP. Sometimes I find places via Yelp and they are complete let downs. Other times, the reviews are spot on. This is definitely the latter. The last time I had a dog was when I was 5. Needless to say, I'm out of touch as to where to go for ANYTHING, let alone daycare. I read through many reviews of LOTS of places, one very close to where I work and while they seemed fine, I never got the feeling that any were the right place for my Sweet Caroline. In fact, I started to feel stressed and overwhelmed filtering out which places I should consider and which to avoid. You see, Sweet Caroline was adopted from PAWS at the end of August after being relinquished for the 2nd time. Adopting her was a big deal as she has SEVERE separation anxiety. We're not talking typical Dachshund anxiety either. If you so much as move your leg, Sweet Caroline has jumped up from her spot and is anticipating what room you're about to go to. She almost always walks into something as she's busy turning her head every second to make sure you're following her. If you need a new best friend, Sweet Caroline is definitely your gal! Now, where does Earth Pups fit in? My mom and step-dad were going on a 2 week vacation and since my mom works from home, Sweet Caroline is never alone. We're all in panic mode as all of our potential sitters fell through, then Earth Pups appeared! I finally got my step-dad to bring her in for an assessment and get his opinion and she did just fine. Insert huge sigh of relief here. The staff here has been wonderful! They assure me every day when I come to get her that she's a sweetheart and doing great. I would assume they tell everyone that (hey, I worked at a daycare, I know what's up!)....but Sweet Caroline never seems upset when I pick her up. When I drop her off she runs to them, though she always turns to see if I'm following her, but I can tell she's happy as she comes home exhausted. I love that it's all small dogs as Sweet Caroline definitely has little dog syndrome (though her new best friend is my friend's dog...a pitbull/boxer). I've only had her nails trimmed here, but I wouldn't hesitate to bring her here for other services. We bought a 10 full day pass, and will have 2 "extras". Once we use those, I think we might go ahead and buy another 10 full day pass (as they don't expire) and take her here once a week or so. As much as Sweet Caroline enjoys car rides, running errands with her can be somewhat difficult at times. Oh, that's right. Since she's been coming here she's also calmed down as far as me getting out of the car is concerned. This is huge as she used to immediately try and jump on my lap once I put the car in reverse. Now she waits for me to come around and unhook her seatbelt harness before she tries to jump out. Thank you to everyone at Earth Pups! UPDATE: Not that you'll know this, but I wrote this review in anticipation of posting it when Sweet Caroline was done with daycare (for now). However, last week I went in asking their opinion on my situation and they offered me a free half-day of daycare (on Saturday, the day of their Howl-oween party, no less) so I wouldn't have to worry. HOW GREAT ARE THEY?! I'll definitely be bringing Sweet Caroline here for all of her grooming needs, and if for some reason she ever needed to be boarded, I wouldn't hesitate to send her here! I'm actually going to miss not bringing her to Earth Pups every day as everyone makes you feel so welcome, right from the start. Sweet Caroline still has separation anxiety, but she doesn't try and follow me when I walk out the door anymore. That's a good sign, right? :-) read more

I'm SO happy we decided to look this place up after driving by one day. We have taken Daisy to all kinds of dog hotels, but never one that only takes small dogs. For WHATEVER reason Daisy has never enjoyed herself at a dog hotel (it could be the larger sized dogs since she is so tiny). Every time I've gone to pick her up I would find out that she didn't eat the whole time and/or would get sick. So thank GOODNESS for EP, as we were thinking we wouldn't be able to leave her anywhere overnight anymore. I talked to Julie over the phone and explained that Daisy normally has a hard time and she was just sweet as pie over the phone. I LOVE that they have you leave your dog at their daycare for a day to see how it works out before booking any overnight stays. We brought Daisy in the AM one day and she seemed to love it, so we decided to give the overnight a try. When I went to go pick her up after a couple nights she didn't sprint to the door which was a GREAT sign! The people that were there were so genuinely kind and you could tell they really care about the dogs. When they brought Daisy out they continued to play with her until we walked out the door. Oh and they mentioned that since she normally has a hard time, they put her in the room that was closest to where the people sleep (they have someone there 24/7) to make her feel right at home. How wonderful was that?!?! VERY VERY happy we found this place, we will be bringing Daisy here whenever we leave town (and maybe for a few daycare sessions). A++ read more

After a couple of bad experiences at a different kennel in town, we decided to give EarthPups a try. We came in for our "assessment" and got to meet the team, tour the facility and see how our little pup would fit in. He loved it, and spent his first weekend with Julie and the gang. I know he had a great time as he slept hard for 36 hours after we got him back home, and when we went back for a haircut a week later he was actually really excited to arrive - and that NEVER happened at the other place. We liked that we could call and check on him without feeling like we were bothering anyone, and really appreciated Julie giving him the extra people-attention he likes. I also liked the big window in the lobby, which allows anyone to see the pups at play - the other guys would take our guy (usually shaking and fearful) from the beautiful lobby through some door that outsiders probably never get to enter... kinda suspect if you ask me. I highly recommend EarthPups to anyone, especially people like us who want the best for their 4-legged friends. read more

I looked long and hard for a good doggy daycare. I wanted my dog to be able to roam free (instead of being locked in a cage) and I wanted the people working there to really care about my dog, even when I wasn't looking. When I visited Earth Pups I knew I had found the right place. Julie and her staff are outstanding. I've been using Earth Pups for daycare, boarding, and grooming for about three years now. I love the place and so does my dog. As soon as we step into the building, I stop existing for him. He just wants to run inside and start playing. I love the updates during pick up time. I know the names of my dog's friends, who he played with that day, where he likes to take naps etc. There have been numerous times when Earth Pups staff has gone above and beyond the call of duty including hand feeding him (multiple times) when they notice he hasn't eaten his lunch and treating an insect bite so that he would be more comfortable while playing with his friends. The only drawback to Earth Pups is that it adds an hour to commute. Despite that, I wouldn't dream of taking my dog anywhere else. My mind is at ease when I go to work or on vacation and I'm extremely grateful to Julie and her staff for that. read more

I have been a long-time customer of EP. We were the second customers when they opened several years ago. They are hands down the best boarding facility and grooming in the city of Chicago. Not only are they amazing, they have become like family to us. Julie, the owner, is the most wonderful person I have ever met. She cares deeply for all of her clients and treats the pups and owners with love and care. When times got tough for us financially, she even discounted every visit and boarding so that my dogs could still go to daycare because they enjoy it so much. Julie has even offered to take my dogs to the vet when their vaccinations have been due. She is a first class employer with long-time, loyal employees. One day my dog was feeling a bit under the weather, instead of an an annoyed phone call to come and pick him up, Julie took him to the vet herself to ensure he was ok. Vet fee payed for by HER! She doesn't run a daycare facility for financial gain, she does this because she truly loves the work. We are so blessed to have found EP! I have referred them to everyone I know and will continue to do so. I have NEVER heard a single complaint out Of the many referrals I have sent their way. Everyone is blown away by how they treat their K9 customers and I agree to the fullest. She takes in foster dogs from rescues around the city, let's them live at her daycare so that they have the love and affection that they deserve before finding a forever home. The facility is spotless, I mean it is the cleanest place I have ever seen. Staff is wonderful and I trust each and everyone of them with my two pups. The puppy cut was a little short for me, but the second time I went though I told them to keep his face a little bit longer. They did exactly what I asked for and my pup is looking adorable =). This is a fantastic store with great employees who love the work they do. I bring a friends dog to Earth Pups when he is out of town. Everyone on the staff recognizes both the dog (Cooper) and me. Cooper loves his time at Earth Pups as is evidenced when I watch him play with other dogs and how he runs to the door when dropping him off in the morning. Gabby has come to my rescue when I misread the opening time on a holiday and welcomed Cooper before the store opened. I started bringing my dog to Earth Pups almost three years ago. My dog trainer recommended them. She has 5 dogs and uses Earth Pups so I thought I would give them a try. I had previously used another day care facility that used cameras, but it was so dark and had no outdoor space. The other thing that I like about Earth Pups is that they cater to smaller breeds. They are the best! From Julie, the owner, who treats my dog like it is her own, to the other staff members. They are all friendly, warm, and caring. I can call any time to check on my dog and they are always willing to provide a report. They understand that pet owners can be very needy and they will do anything to put their minds at ease. The facility is clean and has a wonderful outdoor space. They often post pictures so you can see what's happening with your pup and his/her friends. I have recommended this place many times and will continue to do so. I recently moved to a different neighborhood and started using a dog walking service. My dog was experiencing separation anxiety due to the move so I started bringing him back to Earth Pups in hopes that this would relieve some of his anxiety. I adore this place and everyone who works here. I wish I could stay here! The level of care and concern for all the animals is fantastic. Having recently moved back to the city, I needed to find a daycare for my pup who loves dogs, but is shy around people. Molly has experience with 3 daycares outside the city, but Earth Pups is clearly leaps and bounds above those daycares. Julie is kind, calm, and considerate and takes the time to get to know each dog very well. She is direct and honest about whether the dog will be a good fit for Earth Pups. Julie is clearly most concerned about the comfort of the animals. My only complaint about Earth Pups is the other clients :) For the most part when I've dropped Molly off I've overheard conversations that reveal a complete lack of understanding of dog behavior on the owners' parts. Yes, Julie and her team are experts at recognizing dog behavior and stopping aggression before it escalates, but let's not forget these are dogs who romp, scratch and sometimes bite. If you expect your dog to be wrapped in bubble wrap and personally coddled the entire day, do not bring them to daycare. In fact, you should reconsider whether you should have a dog at all. read more

I'm writing as a neighbor of the business AND a one time client. First, the business does not keep up with the property in the alley. Cords, pieces of their fence and trash have been collecting behind their business for months. The RCN business truck was recently out there doing work and left tons of cut wires on the ground. Sure RCN should've cleaned it, but that was weeks ago and they are still there, on top of broken pieces of their fence. Second, today I witnessed an employee (in an Earth Pup's Shirt) throw her cigarette butt into Belmont after finishing her smoke break and returning to the store. How can an employee of a company that promotes natural food, remedies, etc... litter? Third, I understand the dogs are going to bark when they are outside in the back. That's not a problem. However, the employees don't realize that their voices carry and no one wants to hear them SCREAMING at the dogs to shut up. Another neighbor hit their fence the other day after a good 10 min of constant barking and employees screaming and the employee's response was to yell "We'll keep them out here all f**king day then" How unprofessional? I have taken my dog there to be groomed and did not have a good experience. My husband let them know that our dog is from a shelter and can be very timid, especially when back into a corner or in the crate. Within 5 min of him being there, we received a call that he tried to bite the groomer when the groomer stuck his hand in the cage. Earth Pups rocks! I take my dog there for daycare and grooming. Every single person that works there is kind and professional and genuinely cares about each dog. The groomer does an awesome job on the haircut and makes it a totally enjoyable experience for Henry. Henry has some trust issues, but not at Earth Pups. He loves all the people there and goes charging in, happy to see everyone. I'm pretty careful about who I trust to take care of my dog, but I have complete faith in everyone here. Earth Pups is the best it gets for small dogs! We recently transferred to this daycare after our old one closed. Although it is now a drive (instead of a walk) from our house, I'll never take my little guy anywhere else. The staff is so caring and thoughtful. They had so much patience when he first started attending daycare. He was frightened and they took their time having him adjust at his pace. I couldn't be happier. Had to find a boarding service in a time crunch for my Raggle for a week. We are "those kind of pet parents." You know, the ones that dress their dogs up in layers and booties during winter and rain, act a tad helicopter-ish, and spoil their four leggers rotten until the pets became royalty. =D I had done my research, compared prices and reviews, toured 4 different social settings for dogs (homes and hotels). We settled on Earth Pups after a thorough meet and greet with their staff. My Roxie is incredibly sociable with people and dogs. She passed with flying colors. The trial daycare day went well, extra points for pooped out puppy when we picked her up. Proof we will get our money's worth! During the boarding, our calls to check up on her was always well received. The staff knows my dog personally and always gives us excellent updates. They attempt to the best ability to attend to our concerns and fix it. So we extended our patronage to purchasing a forty day package of daycare days because we can tell that all the dogs love being there. Our dog is living proof. She knows the drive route that she is going to Earth Pups and refuses to lie down in the car. Once she even had a hyperventilating, excited happy attack. Earth Pups is the best!!! We are so lucky to have found Earth Pups. Julie, the owner, is the sweetest lady who loves every dog that comes through the doors. She forms a relationship with each one, and they all love her right back! Julie or one of her staff (they are all wonderful) gives you a run down of what they did through out the day and who they played with. They constantly monitor each dog to provide the best experience for them and the other dogs. We took home another chihuahua, Sophie, in May. She was a little skittish and wary. Julie and everyone there has made sure to help her feel safe and help socialize her. Sophie enjoys going there so much that she starts whining and pulling on her leash to go in when we're by the front door. They also have a special room for the smallest dogs. Matilda, our other dog, spends most of her time in there. This room is so great because she can socialize and play with other tiny dogs or the smaller dogs that need a quieter place to stay. We don't have to worry about her getting overwhelmed by larger more energetic dogs. She befriended another tiny chihuahua there, and watching them play makes us laugh every time! Julie also goes out of her to accommodate each dog the best way she can for boarding. She does her best to follow any special instructions in caring for your dog. You can call anytime to get an update. When you're away it's so great to know that they are being taken care of so well. Earth Pups offers so much for all dogs. They have a great store full of holistic and eco friendly things and a wonderful groomer, too. She and Janice Triptow offer a Small Dogs Manner class. It is such a great class! I was very cautious as this was Kai's first experience away from home. I appreciated the amount of time Julie took to talk to me, show me around and get to know Kai. I felt very comfortable that he would get the care that he was accustomed to during his overnight stay. I drove over an hour to take my little Maltese to this facility and do not regret one second. I recently adopted a dog from CCR, and I as I was donating food to them I was looking in the neighborhood for a place to pick up new food for my dog. I popped in Earth Pups, and not only did they have a great selection of Organic/Holistic dog food + products, the woman who helped me was pretty much the nicest person ever! I don't live near this neighborhood, but I'm glad to know that they're there if I need dog food up north! read more
