We took our new puppy to be groomed for the first time a little apprehensive from reading past reviews. However there was a lovely young lady name Ellie who took the time with our cava pill and did a wonderful job we will be back

My family are first time dog owners. Like most new furry child parents, we ask a lot of questions, do a lot research, and strive to give our new furry family member a meaningful and beautiful life! It is said that customer service should be the foundation of any business. Well apparently for PetSmart store #1817 located at 412 Constant Friendship Blvd in Abingdon, MD this age old rule doesn't apply. We have had a number of unfortunate experiences. Paid for a puppy trim/cleaning, we we picked our little guy back up he smelled worst than when we dropped him off. During a different visit we were asked to pay first and then return to pick our puppy up, we just happen to be a black family and didn't sit well with us; primarily because everyone else, appeared to just pick up their pet then walk to the front to pay. We were asked to bring our puppy's updated shots records. At our next visit we did just that, however when we arrived before asking if we had said recordsthem, the expectation would been a question asked of us, instead, we were just rudely told... "We can't see your dog, because he needs updated shot records." I replied that I have them with me. It was disrespectful that we were being turned away, before we were even asked if we had what was requested. After waiting significant time for a new grooming appointment, unfortunately we were 20 minutes late for our appointment on 12/13/20. We were told that it was store policy that he must be rescheduled. Sadly, because of such poor grooming experiences with other groomers, we have been reduced to one Pet Smart groomer that appeared to take pride in her job. While we appreciate this particular groomer, we have found ourselves working around her schedule, instead of what best fit our schedule as customers. We shared this with the manager- Stephanie on 12/9/20 prior to the missed appointment. It appears she told Deva, the groomer, that we were complaining about being limited to one groomer and her schedule. Unfortunately, the sentiment of the complaint was that it's too bad that so many other workers had provided inadequate service to leaving us no choice but Deva. The manager misinterpreted this information to the groomer as if she'd done something wrong. When the dog arrived back home and we called to reschedule, we were told off by a telling Deva the groomer. She became belligerent, she didn't even take the time to listen that she was not speaking to our son who brought the dog in but the parent. As we continue to express our concerns the store manager/General Manger Meagan over the phone, she told us it was best we not to return to their store. Her response explains and confirms why there hasn't been any pride in the customer service. The culture and climate starts from the management level directly to the front line employees. Megan and her team failed our family and now our puppy has to readjust to a new location and people due to expressed micro-aggressive behavior from staff. We are now forced to drive an additional 35 minutes in search new groomer, in Delaware although we live Maryland, in hopes of better treatment for our puppy and better overall customer service. At this time, we are requesting to be credited for our inconvenience in service. In addition, we request the removal of any negative comments/ note entered into your PetSmart shared system that can in turn negatively influence others who will be handling our puppy in the future.

Friendly enough staff, but they always seem a bit behind. Every time I show up here the trash is overflowing out front and the register is backed up. However, the inside of the store is very clean, the pet trainers they have on staff are super good, and I've had good experience with the groomers as well.

Asked groomer not to shave sanitary areas. Groomer shaves 2 inch circle around butt and cuts peepee causing pain and inflamation.

Listen, I'm not sure where to start because there's so much I want to cover regarding OLK9's Day…read moreCamp Program. First things first, Craig [Martin] is a Rockstar trainer. Period. Our very first interaction was great...his energy was wonderful...he did not disappoint! He was very methodical with his approach...explaining every step of the process...very engaging...constant updates of the Boyz progress...videos, photos...wait! The photos that I received were Ahhhhhhh-mazing, I mean impressive...only to learn that he's a photographer as well...but I digress. The Boyz are spoiled and I have no shame in stating this...*smile*. But they needed to learn manners. I have two large and very strong Standard Poodles - Mr. Brown and Max. They're extremely smart, pretty obedient in the house, but a huge challenge on walks...my poor dog walker. I wanted to be able to take them anywhere without the extended conversations of sit, stay, what are you doing? you know better... etc. At any rate, I'd been following OLK9 Maryland for some time online. I knew that training for two dogs was going to be a budget buster. Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of the "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" (can't remember which one it was). I cannot say enough about the great experience I had...the Boyz were happy to see Craig each day which was a HUGE relief for me. Yes, additional work/training on my part is required...to me that's a no brainer. As a responsible pet owner, I want to make sure that there is consistency and an expectation that my Boyz are well behaved and well mannered. Which means I have to do the work. Funny, as I was driving home from our final session, I was so tempted to take them on a short walk because I knew it would be enjoyable. But decided to wait until morning... I'm so excited to be able to have an enjoyable walk with these guys... less scolding and more bonding. Well worth the time and financial commitment. Thank you OLK9 Maryland for bringing additional joy to our home... things are definitely more "manageable". I'm really looking forward to our walks, especially since there will be NO more pulling! Can't wait to be able to take them to the "brick and mortar" with me once it's open! "Life Changing K9 Training"

I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

Before working with Scott, we honestly didn't know if we could handle Hank on our own. The difference after training is night and day--he's now the dog we always knew he could be. Scott's dedication went above and beyond. He kept us updated almost daily with videos and progress reports, making us feel included every step of the way. We know Hank wasn't easy, but Scott worked patiently with him and showed tremendous commitment to Hank's success. Thank you to the entire Valor Canine team, especially Scott, for your hard work, and for continuing to check in and answer all of our questions. If you're looking for a more supervised daycare environment, structured play, hands-on one-on-one,…read moreor group training, I would highly recommend them. It's very clear how much the staff knows, and how deeply they care about every single dog that walks through their doors. Over the past few months, this is the fourth daycare we've tried for our dog. The first one we chose to leave. The next two either wouldn't accept her or ultimately asked her not to return. Our dog is an over 80-lb American Bully, and she truly doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. We started daycare and boarding when she was about 8 months old. At nearly 50 lbs already, she was placed with the large dogs. In this large group play, the challenge wasn't aggression; it was that she was young, playful, and didn't always understand when another dog didn't want to engage. Two facilities told us they couldn't keep her in group play because other dogs would become reactive when she missed social cues and it wasn't safe for them or the dogs. After the second rejection, we reached out to friends and were highly encouraged to try Pet-U-Cation. We were told upfront that the training and care are exceptional, but as a small business with limited overhead and office staff, communication can sometimes require patience (which has also been our experience). Her evaluation went great. After two day-training sessions, she became a regular at daycare, and she absolutely loves it! The growth we've seen in her socialization and ability to read other dogs has been incredible. It's also reinforced the training we're doing at home and helping her overall learning and development (consistency really is key). We love that there is no more coming home from daycare with newly acquired bad habits.
