A quality operation! We like all the Veterinarians, their Techicians and the Administrative staff are superb too! We're long term customers, currently have multiple dogs and cats. We typically see either Dr. Beavers or Dr. Anderson. Both very knowledgeable, through and personable. Recently met Dr. Phillips and he's great too. We never feel like they're hurrying us through. Best Vets we've ever been too. (We miss being able to board our pets with them though.) read more

I've been taking my dogs there for 4 years, thought I found a great place. Was there last Wednesday with my sick dog, collapsed trachea and a bloody oozing nose that seemed to come put of nowhere. Was told to buy a bronchodialter, she was on that for 5 days, when she was in agony and pain yelping. I took her to an emergency vet, the nose was cancer not a nasal infection as told to me. And she had to be put down, this happened within 5 days. I tried to have her seen by the animal care center first, the front desk person told me she can schedule an appointment, do I want it or not. After going to another facility and my pet put down, I cold to cancel the appointment, and the response was. Ok, I'll update the system. Wth!!! Never heard back ever. I sorry I ever took her there. read more

It's actually called Animal Care Center & Pet Resort I have to say - we're very fond of our 3 cats and Dr Beaver and Dr Anderson have treated our family members with the absolute care you would expect. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. We had to board them there once when we went on our honeymoon. It wasn't too bad - about 15.00 a night per cat. But they give a lot of room per cat, give time in the bigger area alone (or with their siblings) and take great care of your cat/dog. Adding on to this (2012-03). Update 08/29/14: Came for Zoey's 2nd visit to get her rabies vaccine and another dose of the distemper vaccine. The cost for the vaccines and 2 months-worth of Heartgard: $81. I think I'm starting to get used to the cost. Dr. Smoot-Anderson really is wonderful and friendly. I was a little concerned when they told me her weight this visit - 4.8 lbs. The last visit they said 6.8, so I wondered how she could have lost 2 lbs. They re-weighed her and confirmed she is 4.8 lbs, and said that the last time she was here they "probably" misread the weight. An honest mistake, no big deal. I also got a quote for the cost of spaying - between $220 and $250 - and scheduled a date for that. I really love how friendly and professional the staff is, and how clean the clinic is as well. read more

I debated about writing this review because as far as the medical care with Dr. Beavers, I've always had a good experiences. However, I am far too furious at the level of inadequate "care" given to my two dogs while I had them here for boarding recently. The boarding staff here is awful and can't be trusted with animals. There were numerous little things such as breaking a pill and not letting anyone know about it or lack of consistency with marking of paperwork. And these things alone could be overlooked, but when added to the other much larger, and frankly infuriating concerns, it cannot be discounted. When I went to pick up my dogs, a large amount of left over food was returned to me. Food that should have been eaten. The response was that they weren't eating very well. This was extremely surprising because I had contacted them multiple times during my trip and received news that they were eating and drinking well. One of my dog has mixed water with her food, so that couldn't have been returned. AND the documentation given to me with the reporter feeding times showed they didn't always feed 3 times a day. They were noticeable skinnier where we can see spine and ribs when previously we could not. I take pride in keeping my dogs fit and at a healthy weight, they were not overweight. A 5 lb and 4 lb weight loss for a 44 lb and 53 lb dogs respectively, are significant. Also during my dogs stay, I was told a large Shepherd busted out of the cage when my dog was being taken out to walk. I was also told nothing happened to either dogs and my dog was checked out and that he was fine. However, I noticed two scabs on my dogs head and side. The response to me was that it couldn't be from the other dog because a different vet checked them but they don't know why those scabs are there. I have noticed my dogs behavior has been very timid and unsure since we've had him back, specifically with our other dog at times. This is COMPLETELY out of character as he loves all animals and has never once acted like this in the 5 years we've had him, and according to the shelter where we got him where he was the test dog for new incoming dogs because of his tolerant personality, it has never been an issue. My dogs board often in many different places across MD and PA and this is NOT normal no matter how much the staff here would like to pretend it is. I promise you that I know my dogs better than you!! I am infuriated that they went through this and am never coming back. Ownership is aware of this and stated that the concerns are being addressed. Personally, I would never even consider coming back here but certainly never recommend it for anyone else unless there was major structural change and purge of boarding staff, some of which that seem like they are walking zombies and definitely not dog people. Seems like there is much dishonesty and incompetence here that in my personal opinion put my dogs at risk, and I can't forgive that. I truly hope changes are made here for other dogs sake and that this review won't be relevant in the future. But for now, it is. read more

We tried this place because it is close to home, but we stay because it is awesome. When you walk in, you notice immediately that it not only looks but also smells immaculate. Our cats have seen both docs and they have been wonderful (as have the techs). We never feel rushed through, and even if I bring one cat, I can still ask questions about the other without having to make a separate appointment to bring the other cat in. I also don't feel like they are trying to constantly sell me various random pet products as I have experienced at other vets in the past. We have not used their boarding service, but the kitties in their condos are visible from the reception area, and they seem pretty spacious and clean. I can't say that my cat likes it as much as I do because it seems like when ever I bring him here he either gets a shot in the butt or something chopped off (poor lil' guy), but from my perspective they are pretty great. read more

I will never go anywhere else as long as I have a pet. I bring my dogs here, my sister brings her dog here and my parents' bring theirs. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. From the office staff to the techs to the vets. Dr. Beavers knew my family had a horrific experience last summer getting our puppy spayed at another vet's office so she was sure to take extra care when spaying our other puppy.. so well that our pup doesn't even have a scar. I'm not sure if Dr. Beavers knows how much that meant to my family and me after the trauma we went through of losing our other puppy. Dr. Anderson is amazing too. She's taken care of many of my dogs for their visits. I love this place and don't ever plan on leaving! read more

This is our regular vet for our dog, a 50lb German shepherd mix, but we avoid it for boarding. Great for vaccinations, checkups, health-related visits. They are fairly priced and despite my dog getting stabbed with a needle every time we visit, she seems extremely happy to arrive and be there. She is very healthy in general, though. The boarding experience: After leaving our dog for a week, we returned to pick her up... and she didn't recognize us. Our dog is extremely personable and usually jumps with all four feet off the ground when we come home from a trip to the grocery store. I was convinced they drugged her to prevent her from being a nuisance and made my boyfriend call to ask. They said no. When we picked her up, her nose was bleeding/raw and her bed also had blood rubbed on it. They said she had been rubbing her nose against her bed repeatedly (from stress). She has never done this before. We eventually realized that she was lethargic from not eating or drinking and over the next two days she slowly came back to life and we were so relieved. They should have been making sure she ate and drank and I was upset that they let her get to the point where she became glassy eyed and confused. It was scary. I don't think they pay enough attention to the dogs with socialization, walking, and eating. I am fairly sure she stayed in a cage all day and refused to eat or drink. read more

I have been going to this vet for 3 years since my bringing my puppy home. Service up to this point has been exceptional. However, the care has taken a steep turn south. Dr Beavers is fantastic, the staff is not. I tried making an appointment to have the shots updated as they are coming due and was told they could not set the appointment for 3 weeks after her due date. When i asked about what the alternatives are I was told nothing they can do. I was transferred to the office manager, I explained the situation with a gap between shots and I was told sorry nothing they can do. Go somewhere else but you wont find anything. I then asked about updating the heart guard and I was told she's due for a heartworm test. When i pressed the issue, I was told to go find another vet. HORRIBLE PEOPLE THERE!!!! read more

This pet boarding and medical facility is the best! I am a veteran dachshund owner, having owned five over the years. Dr Beavers and Dr Anderson are great diagnosticians and extremely kind human beings. Currently I board my dachshund and beagle whenever we go out of town. The dogs are excited to come and always happy when we pick them up. Everyone including the docs, greets them with warmth. Lately my dachshund has had a life- threatening illness. The care and concern demonstrated by the docs and staff has been great. Plus they do not charge huge fees, but merely what is necessary. Dr Tiekart, a veteran orthopedic surgeon and holistic practitioner, is a wizard with his acupuncture and chiropractic treatments. I can recommend this hospital and boarding facility without reservations! read more

I would give this place a -5 if possible. I took my cat and dog here for boarding for two weeks, when I returned from vacation I was horrified at the state of my pets. My cat was completely emaciated when I picked her up. She appeared jaundice and drank water from her bowl as if she hadn't had any for days. Her little teeth were broken from her grinding them together because the Animal Care Center Staff hadn't fed her. My cat died a day later. The blanket I left with my dog smelled like pee. My dog never pees on anything, this leads me to believe they rarely took my dog out forcing him to pee in his pen and on his comfort blanket. Don't let the looks of this place deceive you - they will lock your pet up and never touch them until you return. Do not take your pet here, no animal deserves to be neglected the way they neglected my cat and dog. read more

I would not recomend this place to anyone. I have been going there for a few years and the vets seems very nice, the staff however is very junior and could care less about the pets. Their record-keeping is terrible. I had my vets there and asked them if I needed to "have anything else done" and they said "no, nothing else." Then about a month later I was sent an email stating that both of my pets were 30 days begind on their fecal testing? Why wasn't I told this when I was there? Is it to incur more charges to me, another office visit or some other fee? It concerns me that they would be that lax with their record-keeping. What else have they don't the would cause alarm. Now I don't trust anything they've done. My one dog has fatty tumors supposedly ( poked by one of the vets and said it was "nothing- normal for my breed" but now I wonder what is the truth and what is a lie). i would not recommend this place to anyone. So very happy we found this vet. The facility is kept extremely clean which was something we weren't finding with many vets in the area. My little Heidi has seen both Dr. Beaver and Dr. Anderson and both have been wonderful vets. They take the time to explain what is going on and options to explore. They also will get you in for an appointment if there is a problem and you need to see them in a timely manner. We have never been rushed during an exam or appointment. I can't speak for the Pet Resort part of the center since we don't board Heidi, but when I first went to look at the center I took a tour of the boarding area unannounced and only saw excellent care being given to the pets being boarded at the time we were there. One of the first things I noticed was it didn't smell like most of the kennels I have seen. It was clean and all animals looked like they were being well cared for. read more

I would highly recommend this facility as a regular vet for your pet! Dr. Anderson is fantastic and always pleasant to see. She always answers any questions that I may have with a smile. The front desk staff is friendly and even allows my pup across the desk to greet them. I was new to the area two years ago and stayed with my regular vet in Towson. Now that I was in Perry Hall I needed to find a good place for my little darling. I tried some places until I was fortunate enough to find the "Animal Care Center". It has both the vet and boarding which I find is specifically important. I was given a first rate tour of the facility which is very clean. The staff and doctors are excellent, cooperative, friendly and so very caring of your pet. I chose this vet when we moved into the area. It was very nice, clean, people very nice and prices reasonable. However, their office policies I've found out are horrible. Awhile back I needed an appointment for one of my dogs for something non emergent so when I called that morning I was offered an afternoon appointment BUT because they were "booked" Id have to pay an "urgent care fee". I wanted my dog to be seen so I paid the fee, although pretty irritated. Today I called to get an appointment for another dog again non emergent but still needed veterinary care. I was offered a 3:00 appointment but it would be an urgent care fee. So I said "ok how about tomorrow", I was still told "I would have to pay an "urgent care fee "for that too! I said "so you're telling me unless I wait over 48 hours for my sick dog to be seen I have to pay for an urgent care appointment. I was told , "yes that's our policy. If we are already booked in the schedule you are required to pay an urgent care fee". So, if their schedule is booked for 4 days you can't get seen without paying the urgent care fee. I have NEVER EVER heard of such a thing! I said " I'll have to look elsewhere because that is just crazy" I was told.... Ok go ahead I'll make your account inactive". I hung up and called another local vet that has never seen my animals ever and was given an appointment 2 hours later WITHOUT an urgent care fee! Imagine that! I have 4 dogs and 3 cats, clearly they care more about the almighty dollar than what's in the best interest of your animal. NEVER take your animals here unless you like wasting $$$$$ read more

Do not take your pets here unless you want to waste your money on unnecessary shots. They are misleading with what information they give to you, admit they are wrong, and do nothing about it. Unless you know exactly what is necessary and required by law, or required specifically by your pet's condition, they will take advantage of you. This facility simply wants to make the most money possible. They were very dishonest even when we were clear about what we wanted done. There are plenty of other places around to take your pets! read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR PET HERE!! My dog came home with a back injury, hardly able to walk, with no explanation! They paid about a third of the bill for a visit to a specialist, after multiple phone calls begging them to own up. THEY DON'T CARE!! My pets had been coming to this vet for years, so they knew us, and still wouldn't take responsibility!! read more
