I notice he had a small tuft of hair on his tail that looked odd, but I just figured he had nipped at an itch. I was not told of anything happening during his session and even called, once I notice it was bothering him, to see if maybe a new shampoo had been used that was causing irritation or other dogs were having reactions to something. I was assured nothing different had occurred during his grooming. I was never expecting what came next. Two days later his tail had become super irritated and was losing fur due to his chewing on it. A couple of more days of his not responding to anti-itch meds and a cone, and I went to my vet. She discovered his tail had a 'guillotine' cut at his base, where the tuft had been, and the blood vessels were severed, like something heavy had dropped/shut on it. His tail was dying. After daily treatment, meds, and artificial skin attempts he literally ate his tail. $1500 later and major trauma to my pet and my family, he is recovering now with a bobbed tail. Throughout this entire devastating experience, the groomers never admitted to the chance that something happened during the grooming and at one point suggested I might have shut his tail in my vehicle's door! Really?!! All I know is that he went in as usual: beautiful, happy, and healthy. He came out with a dying tail.

Each customer is assigned to a groomer, so they get to know your pet. Baxter's first groomer graduated and he was assigned a new groomer. She's sweet and gentle with Baxter. She told me that she had trouble clipping his nails because he didn't want to let her do it. Someone else showed her how. His nails looked great. I love having trainers working with the groomers. The last place I took his gave him several nicks so I had to find a place I could trust. They have notes on him that he has skin tags and to be very careful. He's never gotten a nick or a skin tag cut at Muddy Paws.

She eventually arrived and blithely informed me that I was 15 min late and she couldn't take my dog. Sure, "NOW" i was 15 min late but the bulk of that time was waiting at the grooming door and walking around trying to find somebody who worked there. She said there was no time but I pointed out that my dog is 10lbs and probably a fraction of the time they normally alot to appointments would be enough. She said 'no' but she was clearly more interested in sitting down with her lunch than her client. Here's the kicker: she offered to re-schedule me but I said "why would I ever want to work with you again?" at which point she shrugged, gave me the finger, and walked back to grooming to eat the bowl of whatever green-haired tatted millenials eat. I also found the dog food I had ordered online, with the store price being lower. Umm, not happy about that! But they do have a wide variety of pet foods and supplies, as well as live animals. I saw a ferret for the first time! They also had Guiana pigs, and several other small animals. But they were busy cleaning their cages, so I just got a glimpse of the ones closest to me.

They aren't just any kind of boarding place that just wants to take your money, they actually care for your dog and play with your dog!
