    Tails-a-Wagn Pet Grooming

Tragic. I would give a negative star if I could. Took my dog…read moreto them for more than a year, no problem. Then, after a routine 6-week grooming, I picked him up. I notice he had a small tuft of hair on his tail that looked odd, but I just figured he had nipped at an itch. I was not told of anything happening during his session and even called, once I notice it was bothering him, to see if maybe a new shampoo had been used that was causing irritation or other dogs were having reactions to something. I was assured nothing different had occurred during his grooming. I was never expecting what came next. Two days later his tail had become super irritated and was losing fur due to his chewing on it. A couple of more days of his not responding to anti-itch meds and a cone, and I went to my vet. She discovered his tail had a 'guillotine' cut at his base, where the tuft had been, and the blood vessels were severed, like something heavy had dropped/shut on it. His tail was dying. After daily treatment, meds, and artificial skin attempts he literally ate his tail. $1500 later and major trauma to my pet and my family, he is recovering now with a bobbed tail. Throughout this entire devastating experience, the groomers never admitted to the chance that something happened during the grooming and at one point suggested I might have shut his tail in my vehicle's door! Really?!! All I know is that he went in as usual: beautiful, happy, and healthy. He came out with a dying tail.

I have absolutely loved working with Jen. She helped us improve on obedience, recall and off leash…read moreskill during the board and train program. Jen is THE Dog whisperer!!!…read more Our Aussie mix has always been a big challenge for us. He is a very reactive dog and would often try to nip any poor soul, human or canine, who was within reach. Walking him was always a problem -- if anyone was on the same sidewalk, we had to change sidewalks. The solution was to walk him at the break of dawn when the streets are empty. We heard about Jen from a friend who recommended her very highly and explained that she was trained by the main man -- Cesar Milan! Jen confirmed this when we met her at Victoria Gardens where she wanted to meet Tuco to assess his behavior. She walked him up and down the busy sidewalks and witnessed for herself his unpredictable behavior when he leaped twice at people for no reason. Jennifer was very confident that she could train him so we left Tuco with her for three weeks. It was the best investment we ever made for him! We got back an unrecognizable Tuco who was so well behaved that he only had to be told a command once before executing! When we picked him up, Jennifer demonstrated his new behavior by walking a big Rottweiler that he didn't know on the same sidewalk. When the dogs passed each other, Tuco kept looking straight and did not engage the Rottie. This would have have been impossible prior to the training. Also, Jen gave us a training collar with a remote. When we put it on him before walks, he knows it's work time and we hardly ever have to correct him. While on vacation, Jen sent daily pictures and videos of Tuco and as time progressed we became more and more shocked with what she was able to do with him, like attending a concert at a public venue with tons of people around him or walking with him at Home Depot and Pet Smart! It is clear to us that Jen deeply cares for Tuco and established a clear bond with him. He's not just another dog getting training -- each dog gets Jen's undivided attention when it's worktime! Our only regret is that we didn't hear about Jen sooner! Tuco is not five and our quality of life and piece of mind would have been so much better if we had trained him sooner. Since that time, we brought in our other dogs to Jen, both American Eskimos, one with a HUGE temper! Again, Jen did her magic and he is the most well-behaved little guy! We can't recommend Jen strongly enough. Regardless of the problem or issues you have with your dog, Jen will take the time to understand his/her motivation and create an effective customized program. Jen is THE BEST!!!

Left our Frenchie there for 6 days while we were out on vacation. Drop off was an awful experience…read more front desk worker was less than helpful and rolled his eyes at us when our dogs shot records had a missing vaccination (all we had to do was call his vet and confirm that he had the vaccine, took all of 5 minutes). When we walked out we stood in the parking lot debating if we wanted to leave him bc the drop off experience was so unfriendly. Obviously we had no choice at that point since we had already made travel plans however we did have friends on standby the entire week bc we just had a bad feeling, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt since we had heard great things from friends. On our way home from our trip we called and said my dad would be picking up our dog early; they wrote down the change of plans and said nothing about the dogs health. An hour later we get a call from the owner saying our pup is lethargic and not acting like himself and they were taking him to the vet. Once at the vet they tested for parvo, negative. ended up with a pretty bad virus. $700 vet bill later and we took home a very sick dog with wounds under his hind leg and peeing/pooping blood. The owner called us and tried to tell us the vet said he had parvo before we brought him to them, that was a lie and the vet never said that. When we tried to talk to her about our experience we were met with "well our front desk guy is just an introvert" and "we did what we could" there is no way there weren't any signs of him feeling bad or showing some separation anxiety until an hour before he was to be picked up. And to top it all off when I went to settle the bill, they brought all his things out in a trash bag. We brought him a bag that all his things would fit in and instead of taking some time to put it all back they just shoved it in a lawn and leaf bag, I know that may seem petty but it just shows a lack of empathy for a dog they just had to rush to a vet in an emergency situation. Nothing was mentioned when I came in to pay. We will not be back and we will be sure to tell our friends and family to make a better choice for their pets as well.
