We went to Tip Top because we adopted an idiot husky. Our dog, Charlie, aka "Dum Dum", was a terrible walker. I know he's a husky and "mush" is in his nature, but he would drag us (and we are strong!!!) along with making our other dog (my beloved) Ollie, run amuck with him. Charlie was essentially ruining my outdoor life with his silly pulling, his running to the door, jumping, and mauling/licking people. Not really mauling but he loves to greet people with an arm bite (not hard) just "Hi, I'm Charlie, I'm going to bite your forearm, mmmkay?!" Then he and Ollie started annhiliating my possessions when we would sleep. Just my things. My husband's belongings were spared. It was getting to the point where I was thinking, you know...getting this other dog was a bad idea. He's going back to the pound! And he wasn't even terrible, I just work a lot and am tired (graveyard shift). We found Tip Top because of their stellar reviews. The meeting was awesome where they reviewed the collars (they vibrate, not shock) like the same thing a chiropractor uses. It doesn't hurt, but does get their attention. The guy (some giant bearded Viking) was very mellow. They were even training a vicious dog outside. I was impressed with how chill everyone was. As another dog is spazzing out, everybody is like "no big, she bites. But we know how to handle it." We signed up for the Teacher's Pet package which was about $1500 for both dogs, for six lessons, lifetime group classes, and additional money for the collars. Prices vary by size. You have to be invested to do this. And your expectations should be reasonable. They won't have different personalities. But in the beginning at least they will mind you and have slightly improved manners. Your dogs will require training for months afterwards, but you won't have to spend a lot of time doing it. In the end our our training, Rob (bearded Scot) said that even when you're making dinner or watching TV, it's considered dog training to reinforce their "stays." Few times a week is good. Rob was our dude. He spoke to us and the dogs in the same way. Friendly and in short sentences. Sometimes we would get a "good boy" too! Because, really, dog training is also about getting trained as a human with a dog. Don't project your little feelings, you're trying to not have a psycho dog. Just do what they say. Rob would take the dogs for the first couple of lessons to work them and they would be pooped. The next four lessons we were involved. This is where they train come, place, heel, etc. it's about 1.5 hours for both dogs. Sometimes longer if they're being difficult. We had to buy 25 ft leashes (Amazon $9 ea and raised dog cots) also Amazon about $25 ea. It's tiring for you and your dog if they act nuts. But you do take it more seriously when they begin to respond to your training. You feel so proud! It's like being a good dog mom/dad. These are your stupid kids and YOU put the work in. If you want them to do the bulk of the work, it's a different package and you will still have to learn how to reinforce their training. One day we were training "place" (it's a stay), and Charlie became uncharacteristically hostile. He was biting, snarling, lunging and being a real douchebag about it. I was really mad. Rob took over and worked it out of him. He spent two hours with us that day and worked mostly on Charlie. Charlie was getting peeved at being pressured to work. Rob stayed with it and never got mad. Chill and assertive. Charlie hasn't acted like that since, but I'm sure he'll try because he's stubborn (Rob said that's a husky thing). Last day was heel. Charlie/Dum Dum crushed it. We haven't done group classes yet, so I'll have to see. You are taught to let the collar be your strength, the leash is the guide, and which commands are to be used. The boys stay in their houses when I work. They were crate trained before, but the extra training helps make them more compliant and tired. Tired dog is a happy dog! Tired dog is a happy owner!! Very friendly people and he was always on time. They're very concerned about customer satisfaction, so if you are having issues with it speak up. We keep the collars and will have them on during their day. Anytime we use commands, the collars need to be on. So you do have to keep working it afterwards. Rob said 4-6 months after, collars on. I think if we do the work, they will be amazing. Ps. They're both 1 yrs old. And I guess we will keep Charlie. ‍

Honestly, I love animals and I can put up with a lot of goofiness from them but I had a doodle that was being totally crazy and she would jump on my guests and get so excited that she would pee all over the place. After we had her trained with tip top k9 we saw a night and day difference! Little girl doesn't pee anymore because she is focused on doing something like sit or place or whatever else we tell her to do to distract from the excitement of the visitor or new people! The trainers were amazing and Ruby absolutely loves them which I think says a lot about the program! They don't use negative reinforcement and they love your dog as much as you do! It's amazing! Super great trainers and I will definitely go back and recommend in the future!

I wanted to hire a professional trainer to help me work with our young, nervous dog that we rescued. Since going through training he has so much more confidence and is such a happy and well-behaved boy. We're so thankful for Tip Top and Liz. We also love the life time group classes!

These guys did a great job training our German Shepherd, Stella. The process took about 2 weeks. She was gone from our home and we missed her, but when she came back to us she is such a good pooch! The at-home training given to us, the humans, by Ryan was awesome as well. We have been able to continue the training at home and molding Stella into being an awesome dog!

Jen is THE Dog whisperer!!!…read more Our Aussie mix has always been a big challenge for us. He is a very reactive dog and would often try to nip any poor soul, human or canine, who was within reach. Walking him was always a problem -- if anyone was on the same sidewalk, we had to change sidewalks. The solution was to walk him at the break of dawn when the streets are empty. We heard about Jen from a friend who recommended her very highly and explained that she was trained by the main man -- Cesar Milan! Jen confirmed this when we met her at Victoria Gardens where she wanted to meet Tuco to assess his behavior. She walked him up and down the busy sidewalks and witnessed for herself his unpredictable behavior when he leaped twice at people for no reason. Jennifer was very confident that she could train him so we left Tuco with her for three weeks. It was the best investment we ever made for him! We got back an unrecognizable Tuco who was so well behaved that he only had to be told a command once before executing! When we picked him up, Jennifer demonstrated his new behavior by walking a big Rottweiler that he didn't know on the same sidewalk. When the dogs passed each other, Tuco kept looking straight and did not engage the Rottie. This would have have been impossible prior to the training. Also, Jen gave us a training collar with a remote. When we put it on him before walks, he knows it's work time and we hardly ever have to correct him. While on vacation, Jen sent daily pictures and videos of Tuco and as time progressed we became more and more shocked with what she was able to do with him, like attending a concert at a public venue with tons of people around him or walking with him at Home Depot and Pet Smart! It is clear to us that Jen deeply cares for Tuco and established a clear bond with him. He's not just another dog getting training -- each dog gets Jen's undivided attention when it's worktime! Our only regret is that we didn't hear about Jen sooner! Tuco is not five and our quality of life and piece of mind would have been so much better if we had trained him sooner. Since that time, we brought in our other dogs to Jen, both American Eskimos, one with a HUGE temper! Again, Jen did her magic and he is the most well-behaved little guy! We can't recommend Jen strongly enough. Regardless of the problem or issues you have with your dog, Jen will take the time to understand his/her motivation and create an effective customized program. Jen is THE BEST!!!

If you are reading this review and looking into dog training, I highly recommend you call Thrive…read moreDog Training because you will be nothing but impressed and happy with the decision to have them train your dog(s)! Thrive Dog Training changed our lives and the life of our Pit Bull, Bossy, in a way I never thought was possible. She was a sweet and loving dog with my husband and I but she had many issues - barking at everyone and at every little noise; pulling when she was on a leash; jumping on guests and annoying them until they gave her attention or until they left our house; begging for food while we were eating and taking food right off our plates or hands when we weren't paying attention; peeing when she got nervous or excited regardless of where that pee went; totally freaking out whenever she saw another dog and wanting to attack the dog(s). We were not only annoyed and embarrassed with her behavior but we were also scared to death of her attacking someone or attacking someone's pet and us being sued and/or having to put her to sleep. We ended up purchasing a lifetime membership and it was worth every dollar and then some. Nathan and all of his staff at Thrive took the best care of Bossy and turned her into the perfect dog! Every bad trait and behavior of hers was gone. She was still the sweetest and most loving dog, but we were no longer afraid of taking her out in public or of her being around other people and other dogs; no longer embarrassed by her when guests came over; we no longer had to be annoyed or angry with her because now when she got excited, she kept her excitement contained and stayed obedient which eliminated her accidents all over the house. Best decision we ever made! Unfortunately Bossy passed away recently but when we do decide to get another puppy or adult dog, they will be trained by Nathan and his staff also!

I cannot express this enough: Dogville is the best place I could ever hope to send my pup…read more I'll be honest, I have a horrible habit of trying a new place once, and writing a review immediately after. And now I must admit, I have been waiting on this review for far too long. We found Dogville about 6 months ago when we were looking for a possible boarding facility for our then 7 month old border collie/terrier mix. She is extremely energetic, and love people/dogs, but has horrible separation anxiety when we have to leave her. We were hoping for two things: a safe, responsible boarding facility where she would feel welcomed and loved, not trapped, and a daycare to help get her some exercise during a long work week for us. We have easily found both here, and I cannot even begin to imagine sending her anywhere else. After only 2 times of bringing her in, the staff members knew her on site and were excited to welcome her in. They gave us assurances her first several times in regarding how she was doing, and even continue to check in with us at pick up or they have a spare moment. We have run into staff members at community events, and my pup treats them like any other member of the family. She rushes to get in the door, and isn't even nervous to leave us anymore. The staff members are so kind, and attentive, both to owners and animals, and do an absolutely amazing job making sure everyone is safe and cares for appropriately. We now take her to daycare at least once a week, and always look forward to stories about her playtime. They were even able to dress her up and take birthday pictures of her for us because we unfortunately had to be out of town the day it happened this year (I'll attach those here). They have such cute opportunities and features, keep the facility clean, and above all else, truly care about the dogs. I recommend them to anyone and everyone I can, and will continue to do so.
