Reviewing Jen's Obedience Training (4 classes, private) : Our 2 year old male mini schnauzer always jumped/barked/growled aggressively when anyone nears his space, especially strangers in the house, and within 10 minutes of meeting Jen he was quiet, curious, and being led around successfully and following commands from her! By the end of the second session, he was giving her kisses!? We were absolutely floored, he'd never warm up to anyone so quickly. Jen is amazing and we're so happy we had our dog train with her. We were increasingly worried about our dog's worsening reactive/anxious behavior and we had a trip coming up to stay with family and their pets in two weeks and we were pressed for time. Jen was able to accommodate four lessons in two weeks instead of four weeks for us and worked with us on specific behaviors we were concerned with (focusing attention on us, manners, loose leash walking, how to handle being around people). Jen spent half the time training us, the owners, (which was SO necessary because we were so scared of being too mean, that basically our dog had us wrapped around his paws) on how to set our dog up for success and to correct the right way. We loved the lessons so much, we decided to have our dog do a board-and-train with her after. We can't recommend her enough! Jen is absolutely the best!! Prior to training, I could only take our standard poodle out on a leash because he would bolt if he was free (we don't have a fence and don't want one). Now not only does he get to play freely in our yard with the kids and no longer falls into temptation to play with the neighbors dog, chase the birds and deer, but I can walk him OFF LEASH in our neighborhood, he now knows the "heal" command (I will keep him on leash but it's huge that he knows this because if the collar breaks lose he won't bolt!) We finished the last session with the "place" command. He is proudly "placed" (all on his own) on a narrow elevated space and will not budge unless I break the command. This has been SO MUCH FUN!!! Jen is truly the best and so fun to work with!! If you're needing your dog trained, she's the one!! She's not just a pet trainer, she also trains service dogs, she is so good at what she does!! The way I look at it, we hope to have this dog for 15+ years, we want him to be happy and we want to be happy with him so this investment is 110% worth it!!! We cannot say enough amazing things about Training by Jen! In just 4 short lessons, Jennifer completely transformed our dogs. Before, they were dragging us all over the neighborhood, pulling nonstop, and reacting intensely whenever they saw other dogs. I had a phone consultation with Jen when I was having trouble integrating a dog I adopted from the shelter with my current dog. I had thought that the new dog was my problem but when my sister in law took custody of him he had no issues with her dogs. Then I assumed my existing female must be the problem. Jen explained to me that my energy was causing the fights and negative behavior between the two of them. She also helped me to understand that not every dog is the right fit for every home. She also helped me to understand that I was not going to be capable of keeping my energy in the place it needed to be to make it work safely with both dogs. I can tell Jen is extremely knowledgeable and she made me feel very comfortable with my decision on the dogs. She also was more than happy to talk with me even though I wasn't booking any classes or services at the moment. Jen is a fantastic dog trainer! I recently acquired two new puppies, and while they are lovely, they needed obedience training. Taking two puppies to a group dog training session felt like a lot to handle due to their age and rambunctiousness, so I wanted a private trainer who could come to our home. Jen's training was perfect. Jen came to my house weekly and helped train my puppies to sit, lie down, come when called, and walk properly on a leash. Jen also tailored her approach to fit my two dog's respective personalities. One of my puppies is highly energetic, while the other is timid, making her the harder of the two to train. She let my timid one get to know her and challenged her appropriately about getting outside her comfort zone. The best thing, Jen was very informative. Jen is absolutely amazing! I recently adopted a 5 month old Pomeranian puppy that was completely out of control! He had the zoomies nonstop, wouldn't sleep at night, barked for hours at a time when crated, climbed all over me and wouldn't come to me when called! Jen is a wonderful trainer that really cares about her furry friends. We had a stubborn, unruly, two yr old mini schnauzer that would totally lose control around people and other dogs. After 3 weeks of boarding/training with Jen, our dog came home following commands consistently, but more importantly, he'd learned to self-sooth and be more confident in stressful situations. Finding Jen was a god send for us. Recently moving here from Arizona with my husband and young berne doddle found us in a bind. I required emergency knee replacement in addition to my husband injuring his back. We are not spring chickens!! If you need a Dog Trainer go no further. Jen personalizes her training to be 1 on 1 with your dog. Jen will spend time and send video's of your dogs accomplishment as he progresses. When your dog has completed Jen's training course she will spend as much time needed to explain how to maintain your dogs obedience level. We can take our dog anywhere and he can be off leash. Jen is amazing! She helped me properly introduce my rescue dog with my current dog. At the beginning of my training, I was at a loss as to how to get my Aussie to behave on a walk. Sammy was snarling at any other dog that walked by. Now he is a good dog that walks nicely on a leash, waits for me to go first, sits and stays on command, does NOT snarl at any other dogs or people Yay!
