I have been looking into adopting a puppy for years now but haven't had that perfect connection with one that I've been yearning for . Visiting my family from nyc, took my little sisters into petland just for fun and fell in love with the MOST beautiful black and tan Shiba Inu , which so happens to be one of my favorite dogs and it has been difficult to find a breeder. Knowing what I already knew about pet stores, I knew it would be overpriced and I knew it was a big risk but I figured ... at least im saving him from the pet store. Want to give a HUGE shout out to the ladies in the store that truly went above and beyond for helping me on this journey. Ciara, Laila, and Sarah were such a great team and worked very well together to make the experience better than I would've expected. Only big tip I have is to prob try to go without the starter kit. It comes with a crate and a shit ton of vitamins, some food and sprays for training even their own vet they use have stated the vitamins arent even that necessary. They say its " included " in the price but once you're cashing out the numbers start going all over the place. At this point though, I was far too invested in my connection with the puppy that I was willing to pay for whatever ( fyi the pup was about 5,600 , I put 2,500 down and financed the rest at a very high interest rate, only for the fact that I knew I will be paying it off early anyway ) was it the smartest financial decision to finance an overpriced puppy? Probably not. But the staff does a very good job actually under the circumstances and the puppies pretty much sell themselves. Once you lock in and fall in love with one of these babies , no going back. My little man is microchipped and has a lifetime warranty ( also you have to keep up with buying their shit every 3 months to stay on that warranty btw ) Lots of pros and cons to purchasing a puppy this way. Don't shop here, the staff is rude and only act "nice" when your about to drop thousands of dollars on a sick dog. To many times had I seen dogs with thick green nasal discharge, some with terrible smelling ear infections, and others that would continuously cough and vomit. None of the staff were helpful and terribly trained and informed on the animals they have. It seems like the staff changes on a regular basis (probably from terrible management) I was told that they have had multiple animals stolen from the location as well mainly being their ferrets. The last time I was in the store I saw numerous dead fish, reptiles that looked ill and a staff member told me that they buy wild caught reptiles that soon die, more specifically some kind of Skink they had that never ate and died. I've seen Hamsters fight and cause bloody injuries to one another, I had to get the attention of a worker to show them that some hamsters were injured and all he did was put them all in a small container and take them to the back. I'm no expert but if they were fighting one another to the point of Injury I don't think putting them together in a small container is the best idea. The list goes on and on. Overall the care these animals receive is borderline cruel. Anytime I overhear workers they always seem to be talking about their commissions on animals and talking rudely about one another and their management. There are many other pet stores in the area that are more reliable and better suited for the proper care of animals, so don't waste your time or money on this location. read more

I received poor customer service, the store was dirty and I was disappointed to see that they sell dogs from puppy mills. I found this out by doing a little research, but this has nothing to do with the customer service and condition of the store. We ended up getting a puppy there, big mistake! You can talk price with them especially if a dog has been there a little longer. the older manager who left and staff was way better. we were told if the dog is sick there is a year warranty. we had one dog already who was a rescue who is healthy as could be. We were told the breeder is reputable and given rough info on them, the breeder doesn't exist, the name and location seem to be fake. The dogs come with a warranty which is the biggest scam, we told the vet the dog had been puking a lot on our first free vet visit. the vet they use is good and they do help however when we took the dog for a follow up it isn't free, I went to the store and asked about the warranty and told them the dog pukes every day they told me it isn't covered and rejected my warranty claims. I was not happy and asked to return the dog even though my wife out not have been happy with me but no luck, now I have sank 3k into medical bills for a dog that was supposed to be healthy. I should have went to a rescue! the dog we got is sweet and but the non stop vet visits are taxing and cost way more then we thought, if you add that to the cost of the puppy its crazy. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible experience. Why are there not 0 stars available? Yes, we were dumb going to this place. Should have researched. Should've known they buy from puppy mills. Our family fell in love with a doodle there. We asked the price and they said it's 4,000 dollars but happens to be "On Special!" They tell everyone this. Then they bargain the price down more if you think it's still too high. They give a useless puppy package they tack on for 300.00. The vet they use has a contract with them. She said the dog was fine on July 17. Two weeks later when we bought the dog, the same vet examined her and said she was sorry but the dog had something wrong with her knees and would need surgery that would be about $7000 and even after the surgery she may not walk. Our family was devastated. We had bought everything for this dog and we were madly in love with this dog only to be told we had to come up with $7000 to fix this dog. We called petland and they gave us our money back. They didn't apologize or act sorry or offer us another dog, nothing for our troubles or the emotional anguish and crying our son went through. As a matter of fact all of the employees pretty much ignored us when we walked in. We researched the breeder they bought this dog from and the breeder has horrible reviews and he is definitely running a puppy mill. Petland Pickerington said they would no longer use him but upon researching I have found that's what they tell everyone when they have any problem dog. However, they continue to use the breeder or the breeders son in our case. The manager told me they are a franchise and the owners go check out every breeder etc.... blah blah. The funny thing is when I called Petland Lewis Center and talked to their manager, he gave me the exact speech about how they had a different owner and they were much more careful than Petland Pickerington and their owner personally goes out and checks the breeders. I have no experience with Petland Lewis Center. I just thought it was funny that they say the exact same thing as Pickerington about the owners checking out the breeders. It's like they are definitely reading from a manual. To make matters worse, our dog was given to the groomer who works at the vet. She has renamed the dog and she's doing a fundraiser/go fund me for the dog and the cost of the surgery is listed as $2000 but of course the dog was free because Petland didn't want the dog back. In the fundraising information she says the breeder turned the dog over to her. She doesn't say that the dog originally came from Petland Pickerington. It was a horrible situation and if we had not have taken the dog to the vet the second time, they would've let us take home the dog knowing the dog had this problem and couldn't walk properly. We would've never got our money back if we hadn't noticed in the first three days we had her. Petland had the dog three months and in that time none of their staff noticed the dog couldn't walk? It was crazy how they didn't apologize or anything or offer any acceptable remedy. They don't care. They just prey on people that don't know any better and we were those people once so hopefully this review helps others from not being conned or hurt by this place. If you are wanting to buy a puppy that will grow with your family, this is not the place to be looking. you might get 6 months if your lucky. My dog that I purchased was a 3 month old Papillion, who died suddenly 4 months later. After doing a little research, it was found that my dog was very sick when they sold him to me! They tried to fill him with several doses of 3 different types of antibiotics and was in isolation most of his stay. I asked for vet documents that stated the reason why they needed to treat him with so much, and why they did not bother to tell me this, I was told they could not talk to me, and records were not kept at the store. They charge you thousands of dollars knowing they are selling you an unhealthy animal!!!!!!!!! If you wonder why you can't find any reviews, its because their FB page is locked down and no one can leave a review, at least now you can't, but if you search FB, you will find all kinds of awful things about them. First off I would like to review the staff. They are very informative and friendly and when you have a question the staff cannot answer they make sure they find one of the employees that do. They make sure that you are taken care of. Plenty of knowledgable staff to help with anything you may need. I give the facility itself a five star rating. Everything is very neat and organized and also very clean and well kept . Like any pet store there is the smell of animals but there isn't getting around that. While we were waiting there was at least 10 families that were roomed and played with multiple dogs they even considered cleaning a room for us. After finally getting roomed, we were able to play with one dog and upon asking to play with a second, they replied with "it's going to take 10 more minutes for a clean puppy room." And that just doesn't make sense because we watched the employees clean multiple rooms in front of us. Not only that, but there were families that were able to see multiple dogs in the same room. I called them because I have never had an animal who gets sick as much as her just to see if they might have some further history on her to give me an idea on how to correct the issue. Petland wouldn't be the first pet store that I would want to go to, because this particular petland in Pickerington doesn't wash their pups and there is poop in the cages. You can see poop on the glass and on the dog fur, I really want a French Bulldog so I have been to many petland locations and the reason that I haven't gotten one yet is just because I haven't found the one for me. Bet when I do get a puppy it won't be from petland, although the workers are very nice, I just can't get over how they treat their pups and I really do hope that they find a better way to care for their pups. We bought a Weimaraner from petland and luckily we caught it in time, She had pneumonia from being at Petland our vet bill was only $350 cause we caught it early but what a horrible experience at Petland. The general manager is an awful person I would never recommend Petland to anyone. They blamed me for the dog being sick would not return phone calls or work with me on the bill. What a wonderful environment! As soon as my girlfriend and I walked in we were immediately greeted by a sales associate named Don. Not only did he help guide us through our shopping, but he was filled with knowledge about all pets and products throughout the store. We came in to buy treats for our Min-Pin and ended up playing with a beautiful Husky the store recently received. Don let us play with the puppy for as long as we chose to while informing us on the buying process of the Husky. He was very knowledgeable and loving when it came to the animals. Don recommended I open up an in-store credit card through Petland to get coupons through my email for the next time I visit. This pet land has an in house finance program that should most definitely not be used. I called all the time during their normal hours and was given the run-around and no answers, sent all my payments to the address given, never had any sent back or cashed, but then get letters saying i'm in default and will be put on trial for not paying. i went in store many many times during different days to see a manager to pay this in full after being threatened with defaulting and the manager was NEVER there. suffice to say, this was a horrible experience and continues to be terrible. buying a dog is supposed to be fun and love filled. this was an utter train wreck and very frustrating. read more

I went to Petland on June 4, 2014 . I went to look at dogs and just see what they had to offer. They had tones of animals to choose from. We asked an employee named Alx about purchasing a specific breed of dog , and about a pet carrier , she was very helpful and helped me with any questions i had . We bought a Old English bulldog from Pickerington Petland for quite a bit of money! It came with a 12 month warranty, if the pet should die that they would replace it or refund our money. Seven months later the dog that I thought to be healthy died with no warning and had all of his check ups and shots. when we contacted petland Pickerington the acting store manager said to leave the pet in the backyard for 4 days until the store manager could return and figure out the solution. We said no can do this is a family member so we took it to the vet to setup arrangements to have him cremated ( since the acting store manager had no ideal what to do). the next day I contacted the corporate office and all they did was give me the run around. I am currently searching for an attorney to sue them for the remaining balance that is owed since we financed through Petland. My advice is stay far away from petland in Pickerington because all they want is your money when they say puppy mill they mean it!!!! read more

I walked into Petland not knowing many facts about the store. I walked out with a puppy who I soon found out had severe pneumonia and a collapsed lung! After taking it to the vet within 2 days I was informed that if I do not get the proper care this dog needs within 24 hours she will die. I rushed her to MedVet in Worthington where she stayed for 5 days and cost me about $4,000. When I contacted Petland I was so angry and told them the story. The store manager finally said that she will work with me as long as I keep all of this a secret. We sued Petland and they sent me a stack of papers that said their puppies all come from puppy mills. They are delivered on a truck with terrible ventilation and some do NOT survive the trip. Please do yourself a favor and do not support or shop at any of the Petland store. Save yourself the time and money and do not get a dog from any pet store. They are unhealthy and have all sorts of problems. Save a life and go to the shelter where you can get a happy, healthy, dog for $50, not $3,000. read more
