I only rated one star, because I could not rate less. This guy deserves-10 stars. I had put over $5,000 in to my tank and paid Matt to setup my tank and do water changes every two weeks. The first month was ok by month 6 Matt did a water change and introduced ick into my tank and killed all my fish but one and then tried to sell me more instead of replacing them. I read online that as long as you take all the fish out of your tank for 6 weeks ick will die out of your tank. I didn't need Matt for that six week period, I took my water weekly to Rivers to Reefs to get it tested and they even showehow to test my self,and my water conditions were perfect. My coral was thriving beautiful. I was a loyal customer to Matt and it was about time for a water change and I called Matt he came to my house looking high and changed my water and left everything dead. When I called him about it he said he could have been that my nitrates were to high, but when I told him I had the water tested just days before and the water conditions were perfect he said he may have put in fresh water but he was not going to replace any coral or any fish and if I want to get my money back I should I have my lawyer call him. I'm in the process of taking him to court now but the guy is a real loser, buying fish or coral from him or having him do you water changes is VERY HIGH RISK Updated this review in response to the scum bag store owner he never tried to mend the relationship, a law suit would never be involved if he just replaced everything he killed in my tank. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE of doing business with Matt if you value your aquarium, I think he will kill everything in your tank, my tank was maintained by Matt and the picture you see is his REAL WORK. Bought a $100 anemone on Thursday late afternoon, went back on Friday and saw they were having a 30% off sale Friday and Saturday. Asked if I could have a credit since I did not know they were having a sale. The owner refused to give me a credit saying "we don't know when we are going to have a sale until the day of" the worst customer service and I will NEVER by another product there. I recommend Coral Farms of New Albany and Rivers to Reefs in Gahanna as excellent alternatives. Guy may know his corals but he doesn't understand customer service!!! read more

Poor customer service. The owner is argumentative with customers, both myself and others I've witnessed. He actually refused to prove his fish were eating, saying he was too busy. He said that is his policy. I gave him a second chance to reconsider, and he wouldn't. Most fish are skinny with no place to hide. read more

Best saltwater aquarium store in Columbus. Maybe Ohio. Maybe the world? Columbus, at least I can say with sure confidence. Matt's Corals has a great selection of coral for beginners and experts alike. They have a good variety of fish, invertebrates, and other sea life. The store, the tanks, everything is always very clean. I have been to every other stores around town and it is inevitable that you will usually see algae and pests. I have not seen a dirty tank at Matt's and I think that is indicative of he and his staff's dedication to quality. Prices are good and if you follow on social media, he has been doing some sporadic but awesome sales like $1 peppermint shrimp and emerald crabs. Bottom line - you may find coral elsewhere in Columbus, but at Matt's you will find quality coral at a fair price. Not to mention you will experience staff who are happy to help you and who actually know saltwater aquariums, the fish, and the coral they sell. read more

I found this place by searching "coral" on apple maps while trying to find more coral selection close to me. This place has corals I've never even heard of, all bright and vibrant and thriving in the look-down tanks. their deals (like black friday and holiday stuff) are unbeatable, often bringing very nice coral frags down by almost half. the person I've seen working in the afternoon (can't remember their name, but that's on me) is incredibly sharp about their corals and a pleasure to do business with. their fish selection is off the charts, and I have yet to see a spot of disease on any of them. this place is like a dream! read more

Awesome shop. Coral is so colorful and healthy! Definitely where I will buy my corals. I picked up a classical Nemo clown and when I got him home, realized she had NO pelvic fins! Super weird. Probably from birth but the shop happily swapped her out and let me pick it out. Customer service is awesome and super helpful. The only reason for no 5 stars is because my random zoa rock I got from them was COVERED in Nudibranch. No idea if they are a good one or bad one.:.. they do sell and promote coral dip so that is a plus. Just wanted to say random nudis are on corals. read more

Went by this past weekend. Wonderful shop. Wish I lived closer. They had a great selection of corals that were well taken care of and at great prices. Not too many fish on hand, but the ones that were there were in good shape. Very clean, well run store. Once my tank matures, I'll definitely be going back for some corals... especially the rock nems and bubble tips. read more
