Had been following the updates about this shop opening for a few months as I was excited for a gourmet doughnut option closer to me and finally found myself out in the Fox Valley area early enough in the day to give them a try so I decided to go ahead and get a half dozen sampler of sorts. My takeaway is that certain options are a lot better than others. The strawberry hibiscus cheesecake was surprisingly my favorite. That cheesecake cream was so tasty I kind of wish you could order a little dipping cup of it. I also liked the maple bacon, celebration cake and samosa-esque one. Unfortunately the flavor choices I took a chance on turned out to be the ones I liked the least. Had high hopes for the jalapeño cornbread and olive pistachio especially since I really enjoy spicy sweets and olives but they just didn't really work for me. The cake and icings have pretty distinctive flavors that I suspect could be polarizing to some but I liked the overall product. I also feel like some might say that these doughnuts are priced too high but I think that they're actually pretty reasonable for the quality of ingredients and being hand dipped/available all day. I'm not necessarily clamoring to get back to Petit Three soon but I could see myself stopping by again to give their other offerings a try. read more

Petit Three Doughnuts was started by the wife of a friend of mine, so I wanted to see how the food was. When I walked in, the cashier and owner were incredibly nice and helpful. They helped explain the menu and why these doughnuts are so special. Because I checked in on the Yelp app, I got a free celebration donut. Thanks Yelp! The doughnuts, made with a sour cream base, were delicous. The Samoa was my favorite. You could really taste the freshness. The hot chocolate was a work of art. They used Ghardeli and Guitard chocolate, smoked a marshmallow, and added a Graham cracker crouton. This is one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had. Petit Three is a delicious locally owned gourmet doughnut shop. I have had a few of their donuts at my hospital and came in for a Yelp Elite experience. It has been on my list to visit them in person. Bilin, the owner, is awesome and a perfect example of going after your dreams. She created all the recipes herself and all of the flavors are so unique and fresh. Each of these doughnuts have almost a cake like texture that makes them so moist and still yummy even a few days later. I ordered the Campfire Party which is a play on smores. I paired it with the horchata latte which is homemade and it was amazing! The cinnamon horchata flavor is literally perfection. I also ordered a half dozen for my family to try and got the Blueberry Basil, Burnt & Salty, Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Samoa, Olive Pistachio, and Strawberry Shortbread. My favorite by far was the Samoa and the Olive Pistachio! The shop itself is beautifully decorated with themes of blue and white. But what I love especially is that you can tell that each doughnut is carefully crafted with talent! The owner loves what she does. Ambitious donut and cupcake restos have been a "thing" for a while now. As Dunkin' has fallen to "central production", where nothing is cooked on premises, and "Chef Mike" is the entire Kitchen, that once-grand pitstop has sunk to "avoid" status. It's hard to find a good donut these days. Another phenomenon is upscale neighborhoods in the same locales as blue-collar ones, and the Todds and Karens have to patronize places they believe are commensurate with their solipsistic existences. Away from the "Grabowskis", you know. So you have a posh Donut joint (or at least a donut joint arching to be posh) in the same row as pizza joints and Asian nail parlors. A peacock on the same perch with robins. I grew up in the West Burbs of Chicago, where there was a Czech bakery on every corner. Fiercely proud establishments, where corners were never cut, and quality was assured. We have gourmet bakery in our blood, but we were never aware of it. A tall bar to hurdle. I had to stop here and try this place, even though I had an inkling what I would find. That said, I always walk in the door with a tabula rasa palate-I'll always give them a chance. My suspicions were accurate: Run-of-the-mill donuts with eclectic shit piled on top of them. Expensive as hell, too. And, ultimately, nothing to write home about. A much needed donut shop in the area! I haven't had a cake donut this good in Illinois, I usually have to travel to Wisconsin for these so it's such a happy surprise to have this local spot. It was my first time in & I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner who was incredibly sweet. The space is charming, bright, and very clean. There's quite a bit of seating inside as well if you felt like meeting with friends or getting some work done. I opted for the Samoa (my favorite, SOOO good) and the Strawberry Shortbread donut (also incredibly good), and the iced horchata latte. Everything was incredible. Saw Petit Three on Instagram and I had to give them a try! Locally owned gourmet donut shop, you can tell they put love in their stuff. Homemade recipes & each donut carefully curated for the best taste. The shop decor is spacious and beautifully decorated. When you walk through those doors, you're greeted by friendly staff and an assortment of donuts. Staff was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. All their donuts are made in house and sometimes you can watch them glazing them. I got up early to try this doughnut place. Super cute place with many seating inside and few outside. When I looked at the menu, they had some unique and interesting flavor. I tried the maple bacon athe dreamy matcha and the caramel latte. The maple bacon dough was absolutely delicious and it went perfectly with the caramel latte. There was a smokey flavor to the doughnut which was interesting. I love matcha but I have to say this one wasn't very matcha. I thought the dreamy matcha was okay. Finding a fresh and made-from-scratch donut is hard to find. Or if you find one, the hours are so terrible (especially when you work the graveyard shift), that they don't work with your schedule. However, Petit Three is breaking all the rules and I am a huge fan of it. After two weeks with our first newborn baby, our fridge was getting bare and we needed some fresh air. Petite Three was the perfect example to leave the house. The location was very easy to find. It is by Marianos so you can easily do some grocery shopping before or after. The location is not inside Marianos..but outside and to the side of it. Parking is plentiful for that same reason. It is shared with multiple stores, and even shared with Marianos if their parking is full Inside is very bright, clean and friendly. I love the white and air-ness of the building. They have triple filtered water if you are not a fan of coffee and tea. I entered the building and was immediately welcomed with friendly staff. There was a lovely lady who explained the donuts and everything you could imagine since we told her it was our first time here. Of course, I had to get some extra donuts for my wife too to support the building. Overall, the donuts were freshly made and they were consistently making more. There were some flavors that we didn't see on the display case, but she said they were making more so they were placed on display yet. However, that didn't stop her from getting me those flavors. For the Yelp event, I chose the Cacao on Choc. It was delicious... freshly made and not frozen. For my latte, I saw Caramel Latte which was also delicious. Sweet and not boiling hot. Overall, my wife did get the Samoa donut. She dislikes coconut and dislikes caramel. However, she loves Samoa cookies (go figure!)...and she said those donuts are currently her favorite. All staff members that we talked to were very friendly and engaging. I think we talked with the owner as well briefly. However, as a newborn parent...our conversations were short and I was too tired to remember what we talked about... In the end, I am a huge fan of Petit Three. We were looking for a coffee shop when we were in the area and my wife found this one. It's very nice and well-lit inside. Service was very friendly. The owner even chatted with us. Unfortunately we came late in the day, so most donut flavors were sold out. We decided on a jalapeño cornbread donut with a vanilla latte on the side. Well, both were excellent. The donut was small, as the name of the shop implies, but great quality. Not greasy; it was crisp and bursting with flavor. All of their donut flavors are unique. And they have gluten-free donuts. I just checked this place out, the donuts I tried are all amazing! They have some non-traditional varieties that you wouldn't generally relate with a donut but that's part of the allure I think. I took a risk on trying the blueberry Basil, it ended up being my favorite. Next time I look forward to trying the olive oil pistachio lime and the orange burst. My only small complaint and why I didn't leave 5-stars is that even when buying a dozen or half dozen and you don't go with their exact variety-pack selection they charge you per individual donut, I believe this pricing structure will hurt them in the long run, every donut place on the planet give you a slightly better price when you buy a half dozen or dozen and seeing that these are already premium priced donuts $3.25-$4.00 each it may turn some people off. My friend and I ordered a to go over on NYE around 3:15, got there about 3:30 not even realizing they close at 3 and that the order had been placed for a pickup on 1/2 when they open back up. I LOVE this place!! I am a coffee snob and this place has me coming back again and again. House made syrups, quality beans, and knowledgeable baristas! Avocado toast is also to die for. It's my first time here today, and I'm blown away. I love their commitment to real ingredients, everything being handmade and fresh daily. I came in around 11am today, and it wasn't too busy. The girl behind the counter is really friendly, she made really great suggestions (Samoa, Cacao de choc, and the strawberry shortbread donuts), and I also appreciate her efficiency and accuracy with my order. I ended up trying their caramel latte, which is delicious and it'd be way better with ice in it. I ordered their chocolate donut and their strawberry shortbread. My partner wanted the strawberry shortbread, and we both ended up loving our donuts. The donuts are decent sized, and the lattes come in 12 and 16 oz. I found that the 12 oz is perfect to be a little pick me up. I signed up for rewards and would definitely come back. This place is so good. We went for the second time today and got more donuts but opted to also try both of the avocado toasts. The bread was a perfectly toasted, a lot of avocado and had perfect toppings. Really one of the the best avocado toasts I've ever had. Their coffee is amazing and all of the donuts are great. Wow! I am not normally a huge fan of donuts in the first place. They are usually too sweet and artificial tasting for me. But Petit Three Doughnuts is a different donut experience than I've ever had. First of all, it's adorable in the store. The vibes are definitely there, it feels very light in the store with cute wall art that makes it very instagrammable. The workers were absolutely lovely. They were so helpful, they gave great suggestions for which donuts to try and even pulled some out from the back for me. This is not your regular donut place. They flavors they offer are so fun and all of the ones I tried were delicious. I really enjoy that there are such adventurous flavors to try- and they nailed each one. These are gourmet donuts.
