I had gone up to New York City from Maryland with some friends to see a concert and, due to the late timing, this was one of the only buses we could find that ran Sunday night. We got tickets for 1:30 am, supposed to arrive in DC at about 5ish am. By about 1:20, my friends and I were in line. Apparently, there is more than one bus and so we were not able to leave at 1:30 am as desired, but ended up finally leaving at 2 am due to the large amount of people. There were two lines and my friend asked a worker if we were in the right line. He asked where we were going and we answered 'Washington DC.' My friend then asked, "Both lines?" and he answered rudely, "There is more than one bus."
In any case, we finally depart. We were doing fine for about an hour and then the bus started to have mechanical problems, which I was not too concerned about because, well, things happen. The driver got back on the bus and said something, but I doubt anyone past the first few rows could hear him, and I certainly could not. It was something about changing buses, and then we started moving. A while later, we arrive at a stop and, after sitting for a while, are told to switch buses. We do so, and continue on. Next, we arrive in Baltimore at around 6am. I expect a small stop and then to continue on. An hour later, they tell us to switch onto an already-loaded bus. While trying to find seats, the bus driver says that "there are plenty of seats in the back," which was not true. While leaving, he said that we'll get to Washington. DC about 9am with a stop at New Carrolton. We ended up getting to New Carrolton at about 8:20, so we just get off there and take the metro.
Honestly, I wouldn't have been so put off if we had been told what was happening. We were just shuffled around and had no idea really what was going on.
Going up to New York, we took BoltBus, which was a much better experience - very efficient and comfortable. Take them instead. read more
