I had passed by this spot on Queen West many times but only recently stopped in for brunch and I wish I tried it sooner! The menu is a bit more limited compared to some brunch spots (around 10-15 items), but I tend to focus on quality over quantity. We split the shakshuka and added side of a sausage, and it was delicious, super savory with a subtle kick of spice. The sourdough the dish came with was perfectly crunchy and so good that we ended up ordering an extra portion. We also tried the pancakes for something sweet and it did not disappoint either. They were thick and fluffy, looked like a small cake, with a delicious apple pie flavor on top that wasn't overly sweet. The place was cozy and had a really nice brunch atmosphere overall. The service was quick and efficient as well. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. read more

The size of the burger is normal, not large not a slider. The elderberry drink was good. But with tax and tip $90! Not worth the price. I got the vanilla bean latte, eggs Benedict with lox, and a stack of the weekly special pancakes for the table. The latte was good, the eggs Benedict was sub par. If I'm being charged extra for lox, I'd like lox on my dish. It seemed like they cut one slice of lox into 2 pieces and put it on each of the English muffins. The pancakes were also sub par. This weeks flavor was poached pear with a rum syrup and cream cheese frosting, but the pancakes themselves were dry. My bill for all of that, not including tip came up to $43. Beautiful, French-inspired bistro. We popped in during a conference after visiting the bookstore next door, the boutique menu and peaceful ambience was welcoming after a long day. Staff is extremely knowledgeable about wine selection and the salmon was delicious. My only drawback is that it closed rather early for a Friday evening (10pm). Both were so delicious but the mushroom creme brulee was so unique. I was a little concerned because I didn't know what to expect. It didn't look too appetizing because mushrooms are a strange color. And as with regular creme brulee, the top crunchy part was sugar. I didn't expect mushrooms and sugar to go well together but it really worked. If you're a mushroom fan, definitely recommend trying this one out. For my main I got a burger, it was decent. The actual patty was on the dry side, I think it would have tasted better if it had more sauce. Overall an enjoyable spot, I think it would be a cute date spot if you're trying to impress someone. My friends and I visited from out of town and were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. For the Queen Street crowd this place is perfect! It's got that "je ne sais quoi" vibe going on cuz French, but the visual of walking in here is simply fabulous as well. Check out the high ceilings and wood bar, just incredible! This is a great place to take any guests that want to wander around downtown Queen W. and you don't want to gut stuff at A&W or Starbucks crap and want to relax and get good service. I've been a few times and every time it's been quite pleasant. We got a salad ordered and it was quite plain and nothing special though so ask questions about your order and make sure you do it right. The brunch was delicious! My fave part of it was the Caesar cocktail. Really good and a standout of my last visit there. They put something in which totally agreed with me and was perfect for the profile of that ubiquitous Canadian drink. Peter Pan is a Toronto institution. I had not been there in maybe 20 years. I used to hang out there regularly. Ambiance definitely upgraded. The "warm" olives for the table arrived scolding hot. My partner burnt her fingers picking one from the bowl. When cooled off a little, tasted. Horrible. Sent back. "Breaded" cod arrived accompanied by a few stalks of what I think was rapini. Not sure as it was a soggy cluster. Bowl of small new potatoes. Good. Cod was appropriately flakey but without any taste. Sauce was so subtle it could be described as wet accompaniment. My partners Risotto was stodgy and wet enough but little taste. Prices all round on the high side for what was there. Wine and spirit prices comparable to other places, i.e. exorbitant. Service was attentive. So disappointed. I KNOW what peter Pan was as an institution. The "new" Peter Pan has a long way to go. read more

I was eager to try Peter Pan Bistro and when I saw it on the Winterlicious website, I pounced on the chance to dine here, and what an experience it was! First of all, the ambience was great, it's a cozy and intimate place to get together with friends or enjoy time with bae after a long week. The food was excellent. I personally enjoyed the duck more than the beef striploin, but were flavorful and cooked just right. The service was amazing, when the staff noticed that our meal wasn't arriving as fast as the other tables, they sent the sommelier over and got us a round of wine to pair with our meal on the house. The wine pairing was also excellent. I'm not sure why Peter Pan Bistro only has three stars on yelp, but I really enjoyed my time here and am definitely going to come back again! read more

Dinner is where it's at! Caveat: I came here super baked on a hunch that if I don't try it, and I've seen this establishment in Toronto for the last decade... I don't know if I will ever. I was pleasantly surprised but the following items: - chicken liver doughnut. I was attracted to how revolting yet savory this sounded. How could one pair a yeasty donut with pâté? Is this legal ?! I had to find out. I was surprised to discover the donut itself was more of a scone or biscuit texture. It was mildly sweet and crispy on the outside. Inside probably a quarter inch of salty rich savoury liver pate. It melted in my mouth with each bite. - seafood cassoulet. This was alright. The menu mentioned it had octopus, scallop, mussels etc but it came just with salmon on top. They rectified this when i noticed however but I felt the beans seem to overpower the dish and there could have been more of a seafood flavor. - braised beef cheek with mustard greens and mint. This was presentationally most impressive and interesting in flavor combination to eat. The beef cheek came out shaped like a stack but each bite was very tender like hand pulled brisket. I think I'll visit again after overlooking this spot for years. read more

Went for a Saturday late morning burnch. A very cosy, stylish bistro, with a great vibe and good service. We had the Shakshuka and savory crepe(galette) from the specials menu. The Shakshuka is one of the best we have had in the city, though a bit on the spicier side. The duck galette was something new for brunch; really tasty and interesting combination of ingredients and flavours. Having walked by this restaurant numerous time, I sadly paid little attention to it. I finally had the opportunity to check it out and I'm glad I did! Luckily my friend got there a little earlier than the time we had planned to meet b/c she managed to snag a table. Basically from when we sat down to when we left there was a continuous line up at the door. This place is busy to say the least. Their brunch/lunch menu is fairly simple. I had the Chicken Fried sandwich and my friends had the Pan Hamburger. The dried chicken sandwich is HUGE...like taller than my head. I had to de-bun it and eat it with my knife/fork b/c while I have a big mouth it's clearly not that big. The chicken is nice and crispy, there was cheese melted on it, with greens. It came with a side of maply syrup, but i like my fried chicken spicy rather than sweet. I would have preferred some heat to the batter, but that's just me. The fries are those thicker cut ones - these type of fries are personally not my favourite - I'm a sucker for the thin crispy ones. My friends throughouly enjoyed their burgers - I believe it was rarebit with caramelized onions and tomato chutney The decor is pretty unusual - wall carpets with animal heads on them, random pictures/mirrors placed around the room. Interesting to take a look and see what you find. Service was great considering the place was busy. Great place for a quiet bite with my kid over lunch. We both had special dietary requirements. The service was exceptional. The food was delicious and met our needs. My teen went for a burrata capreses salad and charcuterie (leftovers!). She loved it. Plenty of toast to go with both. I give this restaurant three stars. I went to Peter Pan Bistro for brunch on a cold day back in February. I ordered the Classic Breakfast and my wife got the Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were good but nothing out of the ordinary. I liked the arugula salad and I remember the breakfast potato being pretty tasty, but the Classic Breakfast only came with two strips of bacon. The food was reasonably priced considering the location. However, the coffee with Baileys was a bit pricey. The restaurant was busy but we called in advance and got a table rather quickly. The restaurant was loud but that didn't really bother me. I may go back to Peter Pan Bistro for brunch at some point down the road. It's worth trying their brunch if you haven't already done so. Came for breakfast on a Saturday morning excited to fill my stomach with something delicious. When walking into the restaurant it gives off a very cool vibe. There are these animal head wall mounts that are covered in a rug material that kind of creeped me out, but just made sense there. Started my morning with some coffee, as all people should do, and a grapefruit mimosa (this is optional, but I still think everyone should do it). The coffee was hot and fresh, better than I expected. The mimosa tasted like fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, so that was delicious, too! We started with the fresh made madeleines and the lemon curd they came with was so tasty! Tart, just how I like it. For breakfast I ordered the Croque Madame and it was really good. It was packed with meat and the egg was cooked perfectly. I was thoroughly pleased with my meal. I gave a 4 because my friend's meals fell a little short.
