I do not the measurements are precise and true to size. I purchased a pair of 38x29 slim slacks. I domestic believe the cotton to spandex is correct at 93 cotton 7 spandex. Beware of erroneous sizing, low inventory, and 'attitude'! Oh did I mention slower than molasses shipping! I do not understand Peter Manning's sizing! Moreover, I bought their down vest and down coat to go to the Arctic...most colors are out, most sizes are out - they emailed me and indicated we don't carry everything all year...in other words they are a small operation, not really serving everyone's needs when you need it (think North and West states where it is cool all year). Shippping was days slower than any other retailer, I commented on this twice in emails to then. Nice fit without alterations needed. A bit overpriced for the quality. Customer service and communication needs work. Sometimes they seem incompetent. Sending the wrong size, taking days to provide tracking number, taking forever to process a simple return refund while responding to emails with lack of effort/knowledge. I didn't want to hassle them with returns while figuring out my size * I go home. * Order and received 4 items. 1 item they sent me the wrong size. Totally different size from what I had ordered. * Request exchange for wrong sized item. I really didn't like another item but I kept it instead to be a nice guy. * I sent my exchange in and they received it before I even get notification they sent a replacement out. * When I haven't seen any email regarding my exchange item being shipped, I enailed them. They responded with the link to the original tracking number instead which is the wrong link. * I finally received replacement. I didn't like the fit, requested to return the 1 item. *Made a new order for 2 newer items. * They received my returned item and emailed me to expect the refund in 5-10 business days * I received the 2 items. * 2 weeks go by after they received my return, no refund yet on my 1 return item. I email them. I get a response that they never charged me for that one item so no refund. Irritated, I said look further with a screenshot of my charges. * They go crickets and have not responded. * I will give it 2 more days before I open a request for my credit to do a charge back. I have been making purchases for the past few years, on and off because of the TERRIBLE shipping timeframe and POOR customer service. But i give one star for a perfect fit of clothes for my height. Shipping and delivery should be improved especially when reviews like this slowly build that reputation instead of the unsurpassed quality that could affect the brand. The prices are quite high but they're saving us from alteration charges plus the proportion of every item is remarkable compared to having adjustments on regular clothes. I would like to continue purchasing from PMNYC, however, my account has been clothes because of my "comments" towards my delayed delivery. I have a hell of a time getting clothes to fit me. I am just under 5'8 and don't have wide shoulders. If I find something I really like, I look for it in XS and still may have to go to a tailor to have it shortened and/or tapered. I NEVER buy clothes online as sizes are never consistent. I live in Toronto and the only store for smaller-framed men is primarily formal wear; not what I was looking for. I was excited to visit Peter Manning NYC last week when I was in the Big Apple. I was not disappointed. Jeremy was the salesperson and was very helpful. He explained that the store does not carry all the stock - it's primarily for fitting - orders would be placed online and shipped. While they are easy and free it took them over 2 weeks after receiving my return to refund me. In the meantime I was taking a trip to NY so I visited the store and placed another $350 order. Sizing is off in the shirts, even with the help of the sales asst. and the fabric of the polos is stiff. My son liked the travel jeans but the polos, flannel shirt jacket and everywhere pants will all be returned. I will update if the refund comes quicker this time around. Very interesting to note that when I put this review up on the Peter Manning site, they took it down within minutes. I only wish they did something that quickly when they were dealing with my issue. "They have great clothes, surprisingly terrible customer service. Not going to go into the details here because I don't want to bore you. I just expected way better customer service from a company that I've spent thousands of dollars on. I would contact them by phone about this matter, but the phones are rarely answered. I contacted them via e-mail and the terse, unhelpful replies that I received led me to write this review. Very disappointing and it makes me want to look for a different company to spend my future thousands of dollars on." What happened was that the post office lost the return for a few days. Good customer service would have been a reply like, "We're so sorry this happened. Don't worry about it. Let's see what happens and we will file a missing package complaint with the USPS." Instead, I received an email saying, "I would recommend contacting Post Office where you dropped off the package." I know the grammar is off...I didn't write the e-mail. I just don't know why this is the customer's responsibility. After doing this and the local post office told me the package wasn't there, I emailed "support" again asking what do I do next? Here's the reply I received: "Please provide a written confirmation from USPS that package was lost." No instructions. Just this one sentence. What exactly is written confirmation from USPS. What do I do? Do I get a letter from my postman? Do I go straight to the postmaster general? A little more info would have been very helpful here. So, I took it upon myself to go online to the post office website to have them search for the missing package. Again, not the customer's responsibility and I did this on my own. No instructions given by Peter Manning customer service. I figured this out all on my own. in doing all this I saw (looking at the tracking number) that it actually was logged in by the USPS, so they had received my package. It just got lost along the way. Peter Manning could have easily done this as well, not leaving it to the customer to do it for them. Instead I received the e-mail, "If you dropped off the package at the Post Office, they must have something that will confirm that. We haven't had any returns get lost in transit so far..." If this is the case, why didn't customer service check to confirm this? Why do you leave it up to the consumer who followed the return directions word for word? I forwarded all USPS e-mails about this matter to Peter Manning support and eventually the item was found and returned to Peter Manning. I'm worried to think what would have happened if it actually was lost forever. In short, good customer service is not making the customer do your job. At the very least, some instructions about how this whole process works would have been better customer service. You have disappointed me greatly Peter Manning. Your fight over $198 pants is definitely not worth the thousands of dollars I would have spent over my lifetime with your company. read more

This will be my third time posting a review. The first two times, on their website, my review was taken down. So hopefully this one stays. It's incredibly dishonest to continue to delete negative feedback and reviews. Peter Manning has been my go to for polos. I've bought a few of them over the last couple years, and they fit PERFECTLY. Absolutely love them. I recently purchased another, because, if 3 were perfect, I'd assume the 4th would be too. The first one I received was insanely short. I'm 5'7" and in shape, and this didn't even cover up my belt. The website says the back is 26", and my other 3 polos were exactly that. The new one was around 24". I exchanged for the same color/size, thinking this was a dud. But the second one I received wasn't much better. Extremely short (think borderline belly shirt). Again, measured 1.5"-2" shorter than my other 3 of the same model. I'm not sure what's going on with new sizing or cuts on the polos, but it's not good. It would be great if they brought back the previous sizing or cut of the polos since they USED to be amazing. read more

Peter manning is my goto for pants, being 5'4" it's hard to find pants in regular stores. Sad to say, going on my last trip I purchased a pair of fairly expensive dress pants to wear. Getting ready to travel to the airport I placed my foot in and ripped the hem. Not my toe, but my heel pulled the hem loose. No time to get it repaired, so they stayed home. Most of these reviews really surprise me. Their sizing chart is very accurate and easy to understand, their quality is excellent, and the customer service has always been great to me. This is my absolute favorite clothing shop. I've been buying from them for about a year. I don't live in NY, so I order everything online. My first time ordering I had to return a couple of pieces that didn't fit and it was super easy (I'm right in-between two of their size categories). I also accidentally ordered the wrong size once and had to call and get them to update my order. I talked to a human instantly and they updated the order within a minute. Now since I know my size, literally everything labeled as that size fits perfectly, which rarely happens in my experience. I think there are three main things I'd like to point out about my shopping experience at Peter Manning: 1. The in-store experience: If you are able to go into the showroom, do it. The personalized service makes it so simple to find your style within the many available options. They were extremely attentive, and I was able to find exactly what I wanted and needed thanks to their help. 2. The clothes: Quality material really meets great design here. The clothes fit great, and as someone on the shorter end of the spectrum, having clothes that truly fit my body has made all the difference in the world. You and those around you will notice how well put together you'll look - something that is next to impossible when shopping off the rack. 3. Customer service: I did end up having to reach out for customer support. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome - the responses were truly personal and carefully crafted. If you're 5'8" or shorter, invest an hour of your time to check out Peter Manning. There's no better or more efficient way to do it than visit the Fit Shop. It's just south of the Flatiron Building and conveniently located to multiple subway stops, on the third floor above a Le Pain Quotiden. (Unfortunately no elevator - PMNYC is a young and growing business, and it doesn't make sense to pay for prime real estate on the ground floor when most of the people who would walk in off the street wouldn't be potential customers, statistically speaking). The clothes are classic and timeless in a Brooks Brothers / J. Crew mold. You can find all the staples from suiting down to shorts in blue/gray/khaki colors if you just want to find clothes that fit and stop thinking, but there are plenty of additional colors, textures and patterns if, like me, you want to show your personal sense of style. And there are "cool" pieces. The leather jacket is a revelation - meaning, because it's not the wide, overlong waste of $1,000 you'd find in a department store, it reveals that you too can look, dare I say, sexy! And it's fit that is the key selling factor. Peter's developed his own sizing system for upper body (1 to 4X), and for pants, he's got waists from 28" to 38", and inseams 30" down to 26" (and this is the place that you'll discover you're not actually a 30" inseam, it's just you could never get something shorter). The shop is a peaceful, beautiful, no-pressure environment to try things on and confirm your sizing. There's a 20% discount for first-time customers, and anything you buy is shipped for free the next day. No, you can't generally walk out of the store with clothes, excepting some sales items. But you'll probably want to buy enough that you'd hate to lug it home anyway! I have met the founders, and they are not get-rich-quick guys. They genuinely care about serving a market that has been poorly served for a long time. Like any small business, they have growing pains - most common is that sizes for the hardest-to-fit men are out of stock! But they are very focused on the details and continually improving the product. I purchased the classic fit stretch indigo jeans for my boyfriend. He's 5'6" and the 29" inseam was perfect. He normally wears a 30 waist, but we went up to a 32 waist. He is jacked, so he needed the room on his thighs. He says the height appropriate rise is perfect and so great to have for a change. He says they are very comfortable. I read about this company in the New York Times and I visited their store on Broadway to find a Father's Day present for my dad who's 5'4". I was able to find an olive field jacket that suited his style. The salesman helped me with sizing and the order was promptly place. Post sale follow-up was great with shipping confirmation. This place is a nightmare to deal with. I've been trying to resolve an issue with them for weeks and I can't get in touch with anyone that works there. They don't answer the phone and the person that I've been emailing back and forth doesn't want to provide me with any assistance. I asked to share my experience with a business leader several times and I was told by "Nik" that I should take my business elsewhere. What kind of company is this? First of all this is supposed to be a specialty mens shop for shorter inseams. Short people get enough hate in this world. We don't need the one place that we can shop at to treat us like garbage. Don't use their free returns service if you intend on returning anything. Today, they cancelled my order when I ordered 4 pairs of jeans as I had done it a couple of times before, returning on average 3 out of 4 due to horrendously inconsistent quality control. Oh and don't dare to use their 'Welcome' promo code if you have used it before as you might as well have committed a crime. 32 x 28 jeans designed to 'save you from tailor tax' can range from anywhere between 27"-30", so you need to try them on. They've also now changed their skinny jeans to have an awful new stripey stonewash. Am an owner of 7 pairs of their jeans before they parked the idea of customer service and started aggressively emailing customers when they use their free returns service leading with "IT MAY BE FREE FOR YOU BUT IT'S NOT FREE FOR US". It was a bit longer than I expected (28) so did an exchange for 27" length. I think it's the best and most comfortable jeans I have ever had! Bought a second pair almost immediately online. My husband finally had time to go to the NY store to exchange some pants that I gave him for Christmas that were a bit too snug, and I am so glad we did! Peter Manning himself greeted us and personally measured my husband and had him try on several styles of the proper size ( note to shoppers, you may need to order one size larger). What a difference in appearance to have a shorter, slimmer cut ( he is 5'7'' but with a long torso), they really looked so nice ! And the fabric and workmanship is top notch. I would like to update my review. I originally purchased a number of pairs of jeans and shirts from Peter Manning. I washed them as stated in a cycle that ends with the clothing still damp and then lay them out to finish drying. Two pair of the jeans shrunk over one inch each. I asked them to replace them. They accused me of over drying them. My machine has a dry cycle, the one I use which does not completely dry, and a very dry cycle which I have NEVER used, which does dry completely. They replaced one pair and refused to replace the other pair. I wrote a review. The owner emailed me and asked me to remove my review. I said if he made things right and sent replacement jeans I would do so. I never heard back from him. I like the jeans, they look good on me and I find them reasonably priced. Even with my bad experience I have purchased from them two more times. I now wash the jeans but do not put them in the dryer at all. I still think the company does not do right by their customers. Even ones that were once wronged by the company and continue to buy from them. I suggest you do not dry your jeans other than by air drying and do request the company reconsider replacing the jeans that I can no longer wear and show they do care about their customers. I will continue to buy their products, but also continue to give them a review of 2/5 due to poor customer care and communication. I deal with many companies as do all of you and most have good customer communication and show they care and try to make things right. Peter Manning, unfortunately, does not. It is too bad. They have the potential to be a great company. This is all just my opinion as one consumer. FYI, I bought a Panasonic razor. The protective plastic head would not snap back into place. I sent it back. I did not send in all the accessories like the self cleaning unit and carry case.
