However, our experience has ended on a negative note, after working with the clinic for seven months. The only way to summarize all our complaints into one is to say that the care my daughter received was not patient centered. The care is clinic centered. There's a lot of gatekeeping as far as access to the professionals. It takes days to weeks to get responses in the portal, which the clinic prefers you use as your primary means to communicate with the team. I will provide three more examples of how this clinic put what they wanted ahead of what my daughter needed. The first example was when the team initially decided that my daughter's issue was an eating disorder, not a medical issue. Her assigned doctor and team had decided this before even waiting for her lab results. And when they decided this, they had someone we had never spoken to before, Kelly, call us over the phone and tell us their opinion while my daughter )was sitting with me. they also said they need to pause her care because of this .It was not handled with any kind of care or compassion. however, when the lab results came back and showed that she was actually suffering from a medical condition, our main doctor said he understood why "someone" would've diagnosed her with an eating disorder even though she doesn't have one. however, that "Someone" was him. I also found after a discussion with Kelly that she had been led to believe before talking to us about the eating disorder that we had already been approached about it by the nutritionist and doctor. This was 100% untrue. When she contacted us to talk to us about it was the very first time either of us had heard about it. The second thing that happened that stands out, was when my daughter's doctor accused her of lying about what she was eating. When I actually confronted him on the phone about accusing her of lying, he then backpedal and called it "food amnesia". It's not that I don't believe food amnesia exists, but that's not what was happening here. My daughter lives with me, goes to school in our house, doesn't really go out socially because of her illness, and I'm telling you right now as someone who has a long history of battling these illnesses and who also has OCD, she does not lie about what she eats. And after he accused her of that, our trust in him pretty much went out the window. In the same conversation when I told him I wanted to talk more about the role her mental health was playing. he said he didn't want to. So I guess that means the doctor gets to only discuss his own agenda. The final thing that happened, was when we requested the Center to assign us a new doctor, because my daughter no longer trusted her current one. There was a lot of back-and-forth meetings and discussions and at the end of them all they made us stick with the same doctor. And as a social worker, as someone who works daily to advocate for my patients, I feel very strongly that the clinic did this for their own benefit and not for my daughters. if I had found out that any of my patients had a doctor that accused them of lying, I would've reported that Dr and denied him from providing future care for my patient. Not only did he insult her, but he didn't even reach out after our complaint to apologize. You know this was a 17 year old girl they were dealing with, not a 50-year-old woman. I could bite my tongue if I had to and try to move forward with trust, but I don't expect my daughter who's been through four years of these accusations to endure that. Anyone who's been suffering from her kind of conditions knows that you go through lots of traditional doctors before you find out functional medicine is the only hope. Those traditional doctors look at you and tell you there's nothing wrong. They make you doubt yourself enough. We didn't need the functional medicine doctor doing the same. I believe the only positive this place provided was that it ran a slew of tests that no other doctor prior had done. Those tests were helpful in getting us a diagnosis and providing us with some direction on next steps. I will also say that the dietitian, although she didn't really succeed in helping my daughter, at least tried and had a very good heart and was patient with all my daughter's questions and concerns. Meanwhile the doctor eventually told my daughter she just had to live with the situation and she would eventually grow out of it. "It's not gonna kill you." My daughter has done a ton and tons of research on her own and we know that's not true. We are now moving on and trying to find a different clinic that can truly help her. And we did spend a fortune getting care here, but we knew we would ahead of time. We just hoped that price tag would've produced better results.

The day I go on vacation was the day I was supposed to pick up my monthly Percocet but my flight left earlier than the pharmacy was open so I tried to get Turok to send me my meds to where I was going. I had multiple problems getting that done so I came home in alot of pain and extreme stiffness. His office then sent a much smaller dose and smaller quantity of my medication and I kept asking why and all I got was Dr Turok leaving nasty messages. Then I receive a letter that starting Jan 1st 2023, his office was no longer prescribing opiods and left me with NOTHING to hold me over AND still no reason why he, for the 1st time ever reduced my meds without reason! I now find out he lied to me, that letter was a complete lie and he has been prescribing opiods without interruption! STILL NO EXPLANATION and now he has blackballed me as no other pain mgt doctor will give me what I need, give me any opiods at all and some won't even see me!!! I not only have advanced DISH but now need a 4 level fusion in my neck, have Shmorl nodes eating away my lumbar spine and this POS doctor could care less! On top of that, he talked me into getting Testosterone implanted in me last year without any care that my BP spiked so high that I almost stroked out and refused to take any responsibility. Moreover, I found out after the fact that when I thought I was getting epidurals for my neck and back, they were either trigger point injections or nerve blocks. As others have pointed out, Turok is nice when you're giving him the high priced injections and other treatments that he can make the most money but if you mainly need pain meds to function and you cause any issue on getting your meds, he'll shut you down and lie his ass off! Avoid this POS! It's too bad I couldn't give a 0 Stars.

I have dizziness and can't function normally He did not even tested me on the visit, just briefly looked at the eyes and said follow the pen Said the the tests will be performed by the stuff in the office but not him!!!! And as per the office stuff the test can't be scheduled before 2 weeks from the office visit as insurance not going to cover it!!! What a Joke ! Called the insurance and they told me it is not true!! Stuff and doctor is very unprofessional! Turok said that his physical therapist can do vestibular therapy but apparently he was not trained to do it at all ( as he told me himself) Wanted me to do the ultrasound if the arteries but there person only comes one time a month Asked him to give me the RX to see another ultrasound office- refuses to do so I would stay away from this office Going to complain about this doctor:(

I was a patient at this clinic for nearly ten years. Gordon Kuhar is a gifted man and an excellent doctor. The clinic really lost out when Dr. Kuhar moved on. Certainly the patients did. My final meeting (I chose not to return), was an awful one. Though the two of us had zero experience with each other (each was a blank slate, with myself optimistic and polite as always), Jeff Kellogg was condescending, closed, harsh and unpleasant. The reason? I couldn't say, but he cited that a urine sample revealed I was taking less medication. Jeff, and apparently this clinic, assumed this meant something inappropriate. Not true in my case! In fact, it took a great deal of personal commitment to health for me to get to that point. I had come in to discuss my desire to take almost no meds at all, and that I had achieved this on my own, along with a huge commitment to exercise and health at every level including daily juicing, yoga, exercise, and radically healthy, vibrant food and plant supplements. How many patients does this clinic see who change their lives as radically as I did, or voluntarily reduce and then all but quit their meds? I was proud of the changes I'd made in my life. I had hoped for support on this, and reasonable, adult level discourse on managing the condition for which I'd been visiting this clinic for nearly ten years with Dr. Kuhar. Jeff gave none of this. He did not hear or see me, just launched into a routine that was a mix of parole officer and technician at an animal testing lab. Jeff was arrogant, condescending and thoughtless, the presumptions he seemed to be acting on flat out mistaken. A responsible health care provider would not be disrespectful and suspicious without cause. The real tragedy here, is that in presuming wrongdoing on the part of a motivated and responsible patient, the New England Pain Center and Jeff Kellogg orient themselves to the people they would want to help the least, and fail to help the people they would want to help the most. The issue, more broadly, was that too many people were on pain meds, and the political winds had changed. Note that this has nothing to do with medicine or the needs of patients. Because those winds had changed, the new program was to cut people off their meds. Ironically, I had all but done this on my own. What a great opportunity for a conscientious physician, one who actually listened to and had respect for his or her patients. Dr. Kuhar had put his trust in me for ten years, as I had in him. If some individuals abuse a system, it is irresponsible to assume that all do, and treat them as such. Or maybe Jeff just enjoys being a condescending, domineering jerk. Not a great model for health care. I literally said, "Jeff, you're not listening to me." But he just continued with the lecturing-to-criminals-that-the-party's-over diatribe. How ironic and sad that I had gone in to talk about how I wanted to manage my condition with far less medication, and in fact had achieved it on my own. In other words, exactly what they were aiming for. This guy just didn't get it. Lame. I hope the other folks that replaced Dr. Kuhar are not this obtuse and personally incompetent. All he had to do was listen: let some information in, and be remotely respectful. No such luck, or not for me anyway. Jeff Kellogg is one of the most unfeeling individuals I have ever had the displeasure to meet. I strongly encourage you to avoid him. Jeff was distrustful and combative from the first. I can't tell you why. It was blatantly inappropriate and mistaken with me. I had been highly responsible, and still am. I'd gotten along fabulously with Dr. Kuhar and his staff. I wrote several letters to the new director of this clinic hoping for resolution on this issue. No response. If she had simply made an attempt to contact me, shown some small degree of effort or decency, I would likely not be writing this review. I encourage you to avoid this domineering and emotionally incompetent man. A month or so later I answered a Craigslist ad for an auto part I needed; the seller wrote back; his name was Jeff Kellogg. Strange coincidence. I didn't answer. Was this the same guy, now trying to make money off the patient he'd clearly thought so little of? I don't know, but if so he would have seen my quite uncommon name in the email. Jeffrey Kellogg, it appears, no longer works for the New England Pain Center. I would avoid him.
