The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The first gentleman that assisted us went over feeding/diet, recommended tank mates, proper tank conditions, and was able to answer all the questions we had. He even knew the temperament of our little one which we thought was pretty awesome. When we told him we had to step next door he even had everything ready to go for us when we got back and told his associate to be expecting us. The second gentleman that helped us was equally as helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had a great experience and are loving our new addition. Came here 4 weekends ago to get a Betta fish. I literally was in the fish department for 10 min making laps and looking at everything while two employees stood there gossiping. I tried waiting patiently for them to finish their conversation, but I realized they couldn't care less I was there. I had to interrupt them to ask a question- at which point they justed pointed at the direction of what I needed not even looking at me. Most of their Betta fish were extremely unwell or already dead. I picked the best one I could find, and he is doing well thank god. I have been here before for dog stuff, and never had this experience. read more

There are two places I go to take my fur baby and this location Is one of my favorites! Chelsea, did a wonderful puuuuuurrrfect job handling our puppy! His anxiety goes sky rocketing around strangers, but she did amazing with him! We appreciate Chelsey so much for handling him with TLC!!! She's great at her job! I took my dog to Petco for grooming, and they hurt him. When I picked him up, they didn't say anything about any issues, but my dog was clearly traumatized. He wouldn't come out of hiding for two weeks afterward, and when I checked him, I found cuts and welts under his "armpits." I called repeatedly to get answers, but no one could provide any details about what happened. Finally, after several calls, I got the store manager on the line, who apologized and suggested I bring my dog in for a check-up at their vet clinic. I declined, as no importance was given to the issue when it actually happened. The lack of communication, care, and professionalism is beyond unacceptable. I would never recommend this location to anyone--not even my worst enemy. My dog deserves better, and so do all pets. read more

Grooming services are a complete joke. Took my Lab in for a basic bath and nail clip on 8/25. After almost 3 &1/2 hours I went to see what was taking so long. They brought her out - bathed not brushed and nails weren't clipped. The girl said they were to the quick, which is complete BS because they haven't been cut in 2 months. I said as much and instantly they were just fine to cut. Hmm, 3 plus hours and they couldn't complete a basic service. I am mad at myself for allowing Matthew to talk me into tipping the groomer before seeing my dog and the incomplete & crappy service. My advice is: go anywhere else but here and certainly stay away from Ariana who seems to be incapable of completing a basic task. I'm sorry I WASTED $50 on bad service and 3&1/2 hours of time. The store is always clean but I'm giving this store a 1 star rating because of its manager. He's rude and unhelpful. This is a newer and clean Petco. They have a decent fish collection for a Petco. Their couple bigger birds looked ok but not super well and as beautiful as they could imo. Just like some other pet stores like in malls carry puppy mill dogs, the same can happen with birds. I have been to many bird shows and have seen poor breeding and the effects on the birds. I'm not saying their birds come from shotty places and are given antibiotics so not to get avian flu but imo I've just seen much happier and healthier looking birds elsewhere because I have purchased and owned several. They weren't very socialized either and stayed far back in their cages. They had a dog cookie boutique in case you want to treat your dog or a gift for a friends dog. The dog Treatery had a nice variety of treats to choose from. The store is larger than many of the older Petco's but I found their rawhide for dogs much more expensive even with the sale. I went in to purchase and left empty handed. Selection is large for a pet store. BTW the chinchilla was very friendly and healthy looking. It's worth a visit if you live locally and have a household pet. It just didn't meet my needs. I normally shop at their competition where I have always found the prices usually more affordable. Parking lot is big and shared with a few other stores including Trader Joe's. read more

We have been going there for over 5 years and now I need a note from a vet to get a haircut because 1 dog had a seizure over 5 years ago? Even the vet said it was ridiculous!!! What a freaking joke. She was SO KIND, PATIENT, and CARING with me today for my dog's grooming appointment. I was extremely afraid as it was his first haircut in five years. I tried explaining that my 10 lb cockapoo was just scared and never have encountered any issues from any previous visits, if anything they loved seeing my dog come in. She didn't care when I explained that the way she was speaking to me on the phone was extremely disrespectful. Today I brought in my 30lb Boston Terrier to have her nails clipped. Petco was unable to control my dog for the clipping. After clipping the first nail, my dog freaked out, as well as the groomer. He could not control her even after having her restrained on the table. After the second attempt, he came out w/my dog and said her eyes were turning red and was afraid she was going to have a seizure. Now the groomer is a vet? Will not shop here again! We took our doodle in to be groomed. Never again. She has a few mats on her neck so they told my husband they had to either shave her or do nothing. He talked her into shaping up her face. They charged him thirty dollars, didn't bathe her, trimmed around her eyes and clipped her nails. They said they couldn't bathe her because she had some mats. This is the dumbest thing I've heard. I think she just didn't feel like doing the work in the afternoon close to Christmas. I will not be returning. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE FOR GROOMING. The groomer that did my dog was not rude but the surrounding groomers were. They started questioning what I was feeding my dog and everything but not because of his coat of fur or anything because he is simply a heavier dog but that's why I take him to the vet, when I told her what I was feeding my dog she instantly said NO! ITS ADDICTIVE AND ITS THE WORSE THING YOU COULD GET HIM! And then asked if it was recommended by a vet and I said yes because it was she and a few of the other groomers started giving me attitude. On to my next complaint, as a protective dog mom I refuse to just leave my dog there because he has really high anxiety and will freak out if he doesn't see me, which staff knew because they could barley take him back because my dog was wanting to stay with me. Two hours go by and my dog still isn't in sight ( I know they say 2-4 hours) but that is ridiculous because there was barley any dogs and all of the staff was on their phones or sitting and talking. I stood there for 2 hours and 30 minutes standing by the window and you could clearly see they were talking about me, looking at me and then turning away, it was just very uncalled for. I stepped out for about 20 minutes and came back my dog still wasn't being groomed at all, then about 10 minutes of standing there a lady peaks her head out and says "he will be ready in 20 minutes" and I'm like so you booked me at 11:30 and didn't actually take care of him until 2? I then proceeded to wait by the window for my dog to be finished and the lady told me to step away from the window because my dog could freak out, which I understand because you don't know how some dogs will react, but as I said before he would freak out more if he didn't see me. I respected them and moved away from the window and then paid $80 and asked if they ended up charging me per hour that my dog was just sitting in the cold metal cages. I'm sorry but my experience was not as I expected and the attitude from groomers was just completely uncalled for and rude. read more

0 STARS-- Groomers service - Just Don't Go... Worst experience on my life at this location!! I Took my beautiful standard poodle and because the staff is lazy they shaved my baby completely and not to mention left him traumatized and he has literally been sick with diarrhea and is still been shaking, scratching and licking his body to heel his wombs from razor burns for 3 days now!!! I'm ANGRY because this is not okay. When I called Petco next day and asked them what the heck did they do to my dog because my baby was up all night pacing back and forth crying.... I spoke to the manager she didn't even offer to reimburse my dogs cut that was $100.00 not even a cut but was a full shave but said to take him to vet then bring bill to her and I asked her if she was going to cover my vet bill or cut and she didn't have a response for me!!! But said my dog got diarrhea once they put him under dryer... why the hell would you put him to dry you shaved all his freaking coat off....I'm completely disappointed on how they handle my baby there NEVER would I imagine that I would have to pay for 'Grooming' that would leave my baby in such distress and sick for days due to unsanitary conditions that cause my dog to be sick... DISAPPOINTED & ANGRY to say the least... don't even get me started on the groomer who had the audacity to think it was okay to do this to do this!!!! 2 words to her ANIMAL CRUELTY!!! People if you are thinking about going here then just look at these pictures.....Don't risk it, I did and now dealing with aftermath. She's very knowledgeable and tailors my dog's grooming based on her fur at the time - conditioning treatment if she's dry and flaky, shed less treatment to alleviate shedding, tree tree oil if she's itchy. I would highly recommend her to anyone! She knows how to handle different dog personalities and truly cares about your dog. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. I went to get my dog, Maggie's, toenails cut at Petco (Woodlands Pkwy & Kuykendahl Rd). Only, they wouldn't do it, even if I held her myself, unless I could show them her rabies certificate. I did not see a sign saying I needed this at any of my previous visits. Maggie actually has a tag with the year, certificate #, vet's name & phone number engraved on it. The lady wouldn't even look at it. It was 6:30 p.m. & they closed at 7. I could not get home and back by then. So, I said never mind, I'll just buy one & do it myself. I was standing in line 3'-4' behind the customer ahead of me who was being checked out. The sales clerk asked me to "back up 4 or 5 more feet for security". This happened in front of my adult Hispanic son who is on the Autism spectrum, and my half-Hispanic eight year old granddaughter. I don't know if the sales clerk is just rude in general, prejudiced against people with disabilities or a racist. I will never set foot in that store again. read more

The last time I visited this location will be my last. There were three puddles of urine in various spots in the store - one of which had dried completely. A trainer was working with a puppy and client in the store, but the puppy was allowed to approach any dog in the store - definitely not safe. Lots of dogs don't enjoy puppies rushing up to them, even well-behaved, well-socialized dogs. That the trainer didn't know this was disturbing. I picked up the few items I needed and proceeded to check out. The cashier was busy playing with a mouse - again, probably not a safe choice given people walk up to the register with their dogs! I like being able to take my dogs out with me to places they are welcome, but my number one priority is the health and safety of my pets. Given how unclean this store was, I won't be bringing them back any time soon. read more

I took my dog in for a shave and a nail trim at 2pm and the lady called me back at 7pm saying that I needed to come back and get him because he didnt want anyone touching him or shaving him and started "biting" (which he never does). I brought him home and found open wounds on his stomach from the shaving. Of course he didn't wanted to be touched after being cut!!!! I cannot believe this place and the "groomers". I have a serious court case in my hands and will be sueing the groomer AMBER. When she called she said I didnt have to pay her and left him with a paw unshaved. Normally have my dog groomed at Sawdust location but since they were booked, I made an appointment here. After driving 10 miles and waiting at reception I was informed that since he was approximately 18 but in perfect health they would not groom him. He is always well behaved when groomed and they would have found that out if they had called their sister store. Do not appreciate this inconvenience. We love this place! We take our pit/rot/mastiff mix there all the time. He's a rescue dog and is still learning to trust people again after being abused. These groomers love on him and are down on all 4s. We explained he has a fear of kennels and they schedule him on times that he never has to go in a kennel. They also give us a call 10min prior to end of job so we can come get him. He loves going to the groomer and we love how much they care for him! This is the only place we will take him!!! read more
