To say I love this place is an understatement! I cannot say enough great things about Best Friends , they have truly become a home away from home. As a former nervous doggie mom who had never boarded or attended daycare, they put the both of us at ease by slowly acclimating her to the new environment, ensuring she is safe and has a good experience. Now we are just like family, she is always excited to go to camp and she is nicely worn out by the time we get home. The boarding process is simple, I love the pics and messages they send you while away, I honestly have no concerns/ guilt because it appears she is on vacation too. The facility is super cute and always clean, they are always having cute events and parties for the dogs (ie doggie prom) ... I never thought my dog would be so agreeable to a costume and pictures. I don't know how they do it lol. It's so comforting to look at the doggie camera and see her having fun with the other dogs and staff. All the staff are fabulous... We boarded our dog here for a week over the holidays. When we picked her up, she was limping and could not put one paw down. When we looked at the paw, it was incredibly swollen and twice the size it normally was. None of the staff had any idea what happened to her, or even knew that she had been injured, even though she was obviously limping. We took her to the vet, who told us it was a bite of some kind, probably bee or wasp. [Side note: I did appreciate that they paid the vet bill, without question or nuisance.] Of course its not their fault she was bitten. But, they should have known she was injured and notified us. That they had no idea she could barely walk tells you something about how closely they are paying attention to the dogs. She had even been bathed the same day we picked her up, so I have no idea how the person who bathed her did not notice she could barely walk. read more

I always assumed this place was out of our price range and we usually board our dog at her vet. They keep her in a small kennel and take her out on a leash even though I have asked them to please unleash her so she will go to the bathroom. She will go DAYS without going to the bathroom if she is on a leash. Best Friends Pet Care is the exact same price and she got her own ROOM and 4 hours of outdoor time where she could freely play and go to the bathroom whenever her heart desires. She wasn't shaking like a leaf when I picked her up at the end of her stay. I asked for her to have a bath and to my surprise they even trimmed her hairy paws at no additional cost. I especially LOVE the picture they emailed me, with a personal note saying how much fun she was having. I swear she is smiling. Best Friend is absolutely fabulous.My husband and I left our Lab mix here for a few days to fly home for the holiday and we're shocked to here how well she did. Since she isn't around other dogs that often I was hesitant to put her in group play and told them if they had the time to go ahead and give it a try. First day I had called to check in. They had told me she didn't want to go in group play at first and once in she just froze up. Said they would play with here one on one and try again tomorrow and ease her into the group a bit more gently. I called back the following day and was shocked to here she went in group play and did well. I had tried to board her at another facility and was basically told we don't have time for her anxiety. However Best Friends did even though they were very busy over the Christmas holiday. Funny how that is she also came home without kennel cough and freshely bathed. She was her typical happy self just a bit more tired do to all her play time I assume. This is definitely out go to place to board when we are away. Definitely highly recommend. read more

The reason for this bad review is they offered a grooming package on top of the stay. Our dogs sheds, so we got both dogs a deshedder bath, blowout, brush, and nail trimmings. Upon receiving our dog, he was washed but you could tell he has not been blown out or brushed at all. As when he greeted me, I had fur all over me clothes. This is unacceptable. We have gone many times to groomers and he did not have any hair come off him after their visits. When we told the people at the front desk the issue, they said they gave them a deshedder wash and will continue to shed for days. Sure he continues to shed, but you did not brush him out otherwise the excess hair would not be all over. read more

I was a customer for more than 10 years with 3 dogs and have spent thousands there. The pricing has always been expensive but I over looked it because they were always available for anything last minute that needed to happen. The last time I had my 3 dogs there I was told to pick them up by 1pm on Sunday because that's when they close. Much to my surprise, I was charged for another night (3 dogs= over $120/night) because I hadn't picked them up by 12pm. Apparently it says they must be picked up by 12 in the fine print of the contract. I was there at 12:20. The manager was not there so I called later to try and get ahold of someone in charge. I never received a call back and called again and still never received a call back. I emailed about the issue and they didn't even bother to respond. There are much better, customer service oriented boarding places near by. Good riddance best friends. read more

I boarded my service dog here from 10 to 25 June. I was a little worried about boarding him because he's so attached to me, but I was leaving town and could only take one of my two service dogs with me. Rocco is an excellent service dog but when his vest and working collar come off, he's every bit a 2 1/2 year old Doberman puppy. He can be a real handful and he knows it. We dropped Rocco off and warned the staff about Rocco and some of his worst habits. Barking at small dogs for one. He's been attacked by small dogs while "on duty" so he doesn't particularly like them. He's also been known to tear up the blankets he sleeps on. Last and certainly not least, he is easily distracted and WILL pull your arm out of your socket if he sees a small critter when he's out walking. When we picked him up at the end of his stay, they thought we were joking about his behavior. For them, he was a perfect angel. Why do dogs do that? Angels when they are away for home, devil-dogs when they are at home. Rocco had gotten a perfect "report card" at the end of his stay. Were they joking with me? I thought they were yanking my chain at first. They weren't. They were dead serious. As they reported to me about my dog, they told me things about him they could only know if they had spent serious quality time with him. I could tell that had spent some serious time getting to know him. They knew little details about my dog that you just don't know unless you take the time to spend with a dog. I was stunned. Rocco came home clean, happy and content with all the luggage he checked in with. He received loving and awesome care. He exhibited no signs of separation anxiety or stress that is common with boarding dogs. Overall, a great experience for our boy and I will definitely use Best Friends again and again!! I a m forced to write the review with a very heavy heart because after 14 years of loyal patronage both for the pet hotel facilities and the grooming service we have been refused service. The reasons for the refusal to take our little lad in for grooming are, at this time, still a tad gray as he is in no way aggressive or difficult but the reason given at the time of the attempted booking was "because of previous issues". Now, dear readers, to give you some insight into what we believe to be the "previous issue" the last time Quincy was booked in we asked for him to have a standard cocker cut what we got was the poor lad shaved to within an inch of his life and we believe the issue was we had the nerve to question why our little lad instead of looking like a cocker spaniel he looked like a shaved rat. I think we should have figured something was up as when we booked we were told that our bookings had to be handled by a manager! As i said above we like to think we have been loyal customers to Best Friends for the past 14 years even though, in the early days, they almost killed one of our previous lads, named Max, by placing him in the outside of his room to let them clean the room and then proceeding to forget about him for a couple of hours during a TX summer. I will give credit to them because they did pick up the costs of having max in the vets ICU until he pulled through. So the message i want my dear reader to take from this is if you want to be accepted at Best friends don't rock the boat and be good compliant customers by accepting what they give you. Got a call the next morning that my little dog has been attacked by another "BIG" dog and has to go to the vet. Think god he will be ok but I will never let him stay here again and neither should you if you want to keep he/her what if he would have been killed by the lab/pit bull mix. start off with this is the first and last incident i had with my dog there, he was in there for 3 days . the day i went and got him he was barking so much he was horse which he never barks , he was trying to get out there door over there..when i got him home he drinked about 10 gallons of water and was eating like he never ate there.. so to my knowledge it looks like they didn't feed or give him water... then when i went to check out the girl was like 160 for 3 days because 12 noon they charge me for another day and i was there at like 1.. no one ever said nothing about 12 noon being check out because if they did he would've been out sooner.. SO BASICALLY IT WAS $160 FOR THEM TO HALF KILL MY DOG i had 2 more stays booked for him but those are being cancelled because they FN suck this wasn't going to go up here if they would've contacted me but they didn't even have the balls to do that read more

I remain a loyal client. My dog has been going to Best Friends since 2014 and she absolutely loves "playing with doggies" as she understands it. If I ask her if she wants to go play with doggies she starts jumping up and down, her eyes get bright and she runs to the door in anticipation to go see all of her doggie and human friends. The employees all know her by name and tell me how much they love her (which of course makes me very happy). She has great friends, like Annie, Christian, Sophie, Swiper, and so many others. She enjoys her baths and I have never once seen her upset to be groomed. Their groomers are excellent and they listen every time I ask a question or make a request. Never once have I had a bad experience with customer service or grooming. I have only boarded her three times but each time she looked happy when viewing her through their pet cams (cameras during playtime/group) and I always received a photo of her as well. They did inform me that sometimes the computer system acts up and the pictures might be a day or two delayed but that didn't bother me since I am always happy to see a picture of my girl. I mostly drop her off a few days a week for day camp/group play. She can play for 2-4 hours while I have class. I will say that I have noticed some turnover and changes in management in the past year but I feel confident that my dog is well taken care of and loved. I am pretty simple though, just be good to my dog, that's all I ask. Do that, and I will continue to be a loyal customer. read more

We love bringing our Sadie here for stay. You always know when your pet is being cared for when you go to drop off and the tails a waggin away, she goes with one of the employees and never looks back to say goodbye. What I love is the playtime with all the other guest pups and the picture you receive of your baby having fun in group time. We always get her groomed the day we're picking her up and she looks and smells so pretty. The staff is so wonderful as well, any questions you have or want a tour they're there for you. Sadie is the very first dog we have ever boarded, needless to say I was a bit nervous. She loves her luxury suite, playtime and of course her spa time! I give them a 10, check them out. read more

We have boarded our dog here for several years off and on. It is the funniest thing. When we pull into the parking lot he starts yipping and digging at the door to get out. He runs to the fence to see if anyone is playing then runs to the door and begs to be let in. One time one of the girls was taking him from me, he proceeded (all 14 pounds of him) to drag her down the hall to the door for outside play. He absolutely loves this place. read more

I've had two bad experiences with the grooming here. The first one was a flea bath, I checked my dog and he was still covered in fleas... The second time was for a bath and they left my dog with an eye infection (he couldn't open his right eye for a week). These people could care less about their dogs. They should really find groomers who care more about their animals than their paychecks. read more

This was a first and last time visit for this horrible facility. I dropped my dog off for the spring dates of March 12th and she stayed until March 20th and was very excited when I picked her up. To my surprise, my poor baby had more than 20 flea bites ALL under her legs according to the assistant manager, she has no idea has this happened. My dog was checked over personally by her Thursday, 4 days before pickup and had no bites..... I had my dog in the indoor/outdoor which was nothing but a concrete patio with a "blanket" for a bed. It seems there is an overall lack of care at this facility and I would NEVER recommend this "pet resort" to any owner who cares of their pets. The area manager informed me that sometimes these things happen..... Well won't be happening for my baby Molly again.... Let me update**** turns out she had an allergic reaction to something at the pet "resort" which the assistant manager/area manager argued with me for several days post pickup of my baby Molly and was able to buy medicine thru their neighbor vet to heal her up after her stay. Thanks for the complimentary bathing/grooming service at least. What a pesky process/ordeal overall though. read more

We decided to try this place because we had taken one of our dogs after hours to the clinic right next to it. Our golden retriever puppies are the friendliest sweetest pups so when we took one of them to the emergency; she was so well taken care of and so loved. They were amazing and super friendly. So going against my husband's wishes I switched their groomer convincing him that if this clinic was so amazing the groomers having the same name would too! Unfortunately that was not the case. They were semi friendly. You def got the vibe of some loving their job and some just doing it because they had too. We def were a bit skeptical when we opened the door and walked in. However going against our gut feeling and left our girls there. Bad decision because when I picked them up and brought them home my husband noticed nicks and cuts of shaving too close behind their ears. On both of them. This never happened at other groomers on 2920 (CF grooming) what else did our pups endured? They can't tell us but we feel terrible for them. our poor sweet girls :( We will not be taking them for grooming not others services we had pondered in using. We had thought of maybe using their boarding but after this experience, we will be staying as far away possible from that place. if you work with animals you are choosing to do it!! No one is forcing you so treat them right with love. Cost wise they are almost the same and for twenty bucks more I will take the super loving friendly and great customer service type of groomers. We will sharing our experience with everyone to warn them about the level of service. I just hope they didn't instill distrust in our girls by making them hesitant and scared of other groomers. No attention to details for the week stay of my beloved dogs. I took my own food, carefully measured out for both of my dogs. Took meds for one of them, with clear instructions. If I could give negative stars I would. Do not leave your pets here, the employees are massively unprofessional. We arrived 10 minutes late due to an issue with our plane and when we were pulling in, we could see people in the lobby walking around. When we went up to the door, I could see the employees hiding behind the front desk instead of 1) communicating with us through the doors or 2) answering the phone which we were constantly calling trying to get them to pick up. I was super concerned as when I called earlier, they said my dogs were not eating, so I went across the parking lot to the vet er to see if they could help in tears. They texted and called and even walked over there trying to get them to respond and when they finally did, they said the kennel employees said there was nothing they could do as their system was down for the night. When I did get them on Thanksgiving Day, there computers were still "down" and it took all of 3 minutes to get them back up. I can't believe that a company who deals in an aspect of travel does not have an emergency line for after hours where you can speak to someone. These were not a pair of shoes, they are a member of our family and basically they kidnapped them for a night. I have told everyone I know and will keep telling everyone NOT to board here. They are highly irresponsible for not answering the phones before they even closed and the unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. How are they treating the animals if this is how they act towards their customers? Makes me thing not very well... read more

I boarded my dog - a mixed terrier breed - here for a little over two weeks while I was out of the country. I had never used this facility before. I went on a tour of the facility beforehand and was a little uncomfortable how close the facility was to I-45 and the load barking in the back. Nonetheless, I decided to board my baby here because my first choice facility was already booked. I pre-packaged all of her food and even gave a few extra baggies for while I was away. I was told by the front desk staff that I would receive two pictures (one for each week I was away) of my dog via email. Fast forward to while I was away, I never received any pictures of my dog despite being told repeatedly by the front desk staff that I would before I left. It was very important to me to know my dog was ok while I was out of town and wanted visible proof of how she was doing. (If they had a video camera option, I would have wanted that as well). Upon my return, my dog was VERY noticeably thinner. She was at a healthy weight, as my vet told me a few days earlier, when I dropped her off. However, when I picked her up, it looked like she only got fed minimally because she had definitely lost too much weight and her ribs were sticking out. I asked the front desk staff about this, and they assured me that she ate all of her meals for the two weeks I was away, and there was no food left. (Which by that logic means they overfed her bc I gave more bags than she needed, and she still lost a significant amount of weight) I also asked why I never received any pictures of my dog while I was away; the front desk told me they knew the emails got sent because they had my email address written down correctly. I told her I had checked my junk mail folder as well and never received them. I was insistent that if, in fact, they did send me the photos, the pictures would be in their sent email folder, and I wanted to have them resent to me. I still have yet to ever see those pictures and honestly feel like my dog was neglected. The front desk staff also did not give me back my correct dog toy and gave me someone else's instead - not a big deal, but worth mentioning. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK HERE AGAIN. read more

This was my first and last experience with this business! My dog has been to many groomers and has never come home so unhappy. He's been very antisocial and upset. I'm not sure exactly what went on while he was there today but something happen!! Also there customer service skills are very lacking, I was in the building and made to wait for them to check another man in who came in after I did. I felt that was rude, just because he had obviously been there more times than I. There pricing is ridiculous, my 40lb dog who only requires shaving cost 68$ and it's not like I got extras that should have driven the price up. Never. Again. We left our pup with them for 3 nights. When i left her they would not allow me to leave her bedding because they said that had their own bedding that they would supply. They promised group play every day and a fun safe environment. When I arrived to pick her up, they took my payment and said i needed to go get her out of the kennel. I asked why and they said because she would not come out of her kennel. When i arrived at the kennel after walking through a filthy smelly kennel area, i came to a kennel but that was not "my dog". It was but she did not look right. She was huddled in the corner of the kennel, was snarling and barking at me and the lady with me. There was no "bedding" provided for her in her kennel as they said would be provided for her. The kennels are outside which means my dog slept outside while we were gone. My dog is an indoor dog and not acclimated to the outside so i can only imagine what it was like for her. After a minute or two she realized it was me and came to the kennel door and licked my hand. I opened the kennel door and put her colllar on her and led her back to the lobby. She was scared to death and wanted out. The girl kept asking me if she had been kenneled before. I told her she had and she had never acted this way before. At no time during Rockets stay did they contact me to tell me that she was having issues. After getting her home she had massive diarrhea, smelled like a trashcan, and was exhausted. Just let me say i will never take my dog back to stay with them. She was sad, scared, abused. read more

This is my second time using Best Friends for my Great Dane. The first visit was only a couple days but I did notice when I got Bo back that he looked slightly thinner. He is naturally a slight bit lean but not skinny in any regard. At that first check in the lady asked how many cups a day I feed Bo. I wasn't sure. I have my own scoop that I offered to leave in the food container, but she said they had to use their own measurement cups, they would not take my scoop. I estimated that the food he ate per day was about 4 cups twice a day, not really knowing the size of the container, I informed the lady I give him two full bowls of food daily, and if he eats that I give him more since he is a little lean. The second time I boarded Bo was for a longer stint of 11 days. While we thought we'd get pictures like we did the first time, we never did until the day before picking him up. He was noticeably thinner in the picture which concerned me but they took it at an angle from his head back (lower then him) so it was hard to tell the extent of it. I thought it might be that he wasn't eating all of his food since we were gone. When I went to pick him up, I was aghast. He looked like a concentration camp victim. I was so taken back I didn't know what to say. The lady at the counter said that some dogs just need more food while kenneled because they don't rest as much as at home. I just can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't call at some point and ask to increase his food if this was the case. I brought Bo home only to find out he also had a nasty case of diarrhea. He has had it for a week now, so it is not just him readjusting. I am just so disgusted that they didn't even call and tell me any of this was going on. As I poured him a full bowl of food when we got home he scarfed it down like he was starving. The next day I poured him another full bowl, same thing, but out of the bag dumps this TINY plastic cup. It doesn't even look like it is a full cup. So I measure the contents of it in my measuring cup at home and sure enough unless you overload that small cup it is only 3/4 of a cup not even a regular cup. I cannot figure out how the people thought that was enough food for the dog, after I told them I give him a full bowl and that four "cups" was only 1/3 of a bowl. The dog was starved for 11 days. No one thought to call and ask about the food as poor Bo lost enough weight to look like he needed rescue??? I just don't get that. I'm so upset about that and the diarrhea. I had a previous Great Dane before Bo that I had for 11 years. I boarded him several times and not once did I ever get my dog back in this condition. I would never take Bo there again. I have uploaded a before he went and when we got him back. When we got him back he literally had nothing covering his bones. So sad. read more

We left our two kitties at "Best Friends" for almost a week while we were moving. They sent a picture of our kitties to us with a quote about them having fun, but they looked terrified. The cat room was very smelly and felt like solitary confinement for felines. When we got our kitties back, they had lost significant weight and were not themselves. The only thing that I didn't like was that my dog was not able take her own blanket, I think she would have felt more secure with her own bedding. Made a 1st time appointment the other day and was told they would call to get my dogs shot records from their vet. I asked to be called if they were unable to get them since the appointment was set for the following morning. I wasn't 100% they had a copy and I wanted to be sure they had what they needed before I arrived. I showed up early the next morning and was told they "got too busy" and didn't get his records. No apology. They called their vet to see if they could send a copy and was put on hold. I didn't have time to stay and wait as I had to be at work and now I had to turn around and go back home to drop my dog off. Needless to say it put me behind schedule for the day. Do yourself a favor and don't rely on them to obtain your pets records from their own vet. read more
