First of all! I would give them negative a million stars. I am very livid at the fact someone could have the audacity to groom my dog or any dog like this. This is not acceptable!!! My dog went in at 3:15pm and was done around 4:40pm. Before leaving I notified them that my fiancée was picking up our dog and I had asked if they had his number and they clarified it with me and they knew. I also left my leash with her telling them I will be at work and to make sure to call my fiancée when she's done getting groomed. Second of all they did not call my fiancée to notify him. My fiancée then left work at 5:30pm to go see what was going on because no one was answering the phone and my dog was left there with no one and the doors was locked on the other end of the store. Mind you it is 5:30pm. They close at 8:00pm. WTF! That's really, really messed up! At that point my fiancée was even more pissed. There was no one in the grooming area and my fiancée waited there for 15 min and no one even asked him why he was in there and that's when he had to call the manager just to get our dog and he got her and told my fiancée he could go get rung up at the register while he goes and gets out dog and my fiancée insisted on seeing her first and this is what she looked like. F***kin unbearable!!! Not cool! So yes my fiancée did not have to pay of course with the looks of it, but it's the matter of fact I am traumatized with what she had to deal with just being there looking like this and how she was taken care of during the process. I don't even understand why someone would put this poor dog in such traumatic experience. It's so messed up. Oh and on top of that I waited a month just to get my appointment with Hannah and it says my dog got groomed with someone else and that is definitely not the person I booked an appointment with. Be aware, because if you book your appointment with someone and it's not them. Good Luck!!! I would think that we would reschedule if that groomer is not available, but this was not the case. Its nice when the workers really care and want to take time and help out the customers. Im all about customer service and making sure clients are always taken care of. I posted a review last week for Petco Dublin. They cancelled our appointment twice in a row on the spot. My mistake why I booked the San Ramon Petco. So again, we drove 30 minutes and once we walked in, the groomer said "I was talking to my manager, I cant do it because Im feeling sick". So you telling me our appointment is cancelled after 30 minutes driving to San Ramon and for the 3rd consecutive time? Petco, 3 times already, last week i got a message from Petco Dublin they will do something about it including coupons (which I never receive) etc but nothing! And it happend again! So every week we have to drive just to tell us on the spot that they cant do it??? Do you think our place is next to your store? We're driving, we set appointment for a reason. And most of your staffs reason is personal. I was an asst manager I know what is a valid reason and an excuse. INCONVENIENT! WASTE OF TIME! And of course while I was in San Ramon I called the customer service made a complaint and guess what I booked another appointment for Livermore branch. Then a stranger with a dog said they are done with Petco long time ago for the same reason. So I cancelled the appoinment and got a local grooming appointment with atleast 3 professional groomers. If I could rate lower then one star I would! The salon is horrid !! The groomer shave down the middle of my dogs nose when we asked for an eye trim. I asked for a maternity cut and even described what a maternity cut was and they didn't touch his belly, we requested a sanitary trim which was not done! My poor dog was at the groomers for 4.5 hours for a wash and brush since nothing else was done expect shaving down the middle of his nose!! I am livid and will NEVER go back! read more

My Yorkie had a grooming appointment for a shampoo, blow-dry, nail trim, private area trimmed, nails trimmed & a haircut basically the works today at 12:30 which we arrived promptly as scheduled. The gal said it could be anywhere from one to three / four hours. My Yorkie weights 4 lbs and is 5 months old very friendly and loves everyone. Not sure why it would take that much time for a "professional groomer". We were so excited to finally be able to get him groomed as he was looking a bit scruffy. I finally called them 2.5 hours later which they said it would be another 40 minutes maybe an another hour needless to say I'm now worried about my fur baby. Upon picking him up I was told he only received a bath, blow-dry, feet and eyebrows trimmed only as he was too squirmy and they were afraid they may cut him & he was afraid of the blow dryer. His hair is now frayed & dull, eyebrows are uneven & still dirty! Granted I was charged for a bath, face, private area & supposedly nails trimmed. I will NEVER take him back & give my family & friends a negative opinion. I am extremely disappointed with the so called service he received. read more

I had started taking Willow to training at Petco within her first week that I got her. She was around 9-10 weeks old and around 10lbs. We started off with the puppy complete training package and Regina Miller is so phenomenal and engaging and knows exactly what to do to explain how we should handle our doggy in a very thoughtful manner. Regina is my dog's favorite person willow is now almost 8 months old, she passed puppy classes and her AKC Canine Good Citizen test! We just signed her up for the adult class package deal and even after that we won't stop coming by to say hi :) Regina has been so spectacular and is so great at what she does! This location is your typical average Petco. This location does have a fish, reptile, and rodent section. So, I'm reviewing them because, I forgot I had a membership coupon and gave it to the cashier after I had paid for everything. The cashier called for the manager, and I believe he said, "no sorry but it's already paid with debit. We can't refund it". Okay? So what now? Well, why not just return all my items, and rerun the transaction. Luckily, no one else was in line and the cashier knew what she was doing and refunded my last transaction, then re-scanned my items. Thanks! As far as the groomers, I haven't had any major issues like some of the other reviews. I usually schedule my little Nana with Carol. She's very caring, and does an great job. This review is for grooming at Petco, Crow Canyon. This has been our third visit and was a first time with the groomer named LaDonna. It was a terrible and scary experience. I noticed a cut and blood on my pet's head when I went to pick him up post grooming. Also my pet seemed unusually agitated. He is a good boy and calm with groomers. While I was waiting at the counter to ask about the cut, the other groomer came out and said that he'd hit his head on the kennel ceiling and they had to put a towel on that. His groomer, LaDonna seemed surprised and acted like she knew nothing and seen nothing. The Petco manager offered to take my pet for an emergency checkup nearby. The doctor did see some cuts ,and bruising and treated it. While all this was happening, I overheard the Petco manager mentioning something like 'twice (visit to emergency) in a day' which means this is a regular with Petco!! I will definitely not be taking my pet there again and do not recommend this place for others. read more

This is the second time we came back. The first time they shaved or two dogs and when we got home we found two to three cut on them. They were so traumatized by the experience. We thought we go back again and try another groomer. When we got home one of our dogs was so badly cut that it kept licking it's scar. He was hiding in the corner the whole day. I'm not sure if there is an infection but the cut was pretty bad. I asked that the dogs be cut fluffy and round instead I felt they they were just shaved off completely. We've been going here for years and haven't had issues until today. The groomers today cut our golden doodles nose in multiple places, both red with raised bumps. There was blood on the side of his nose and his gums were red and bleeding. We also did not receive a haircut so I'm confused why he's bleeding, red and cut at all. LaDonna and Hannah have always great and taken good care of us, however the new people are awful!! While complaining to the manager the girl who serviced us continued to be aggressive with an attitude and raised her voice at me while I was there 30 plus weeks pregnant with my toddler. The manager took off 35 dollars of a 100 service, but really our happy loving dog came in looking great and brought home injured and upset. Our dog has never met a person he did not like and came home visibly stressed with diarrhea. Very unhappy!! As we were trying to leave the same person was cutting another dogs hair and had cut the leg which visibly had an abrasion with blood! read more

Grooming: I normally have a really good experience here but today no-one called to tell me my dog was ready, no-one answered the phone or returned my voicemail, and when I finally went to see what was going on my dog was alone in a cage in the closed-up grooming center and someone from the main shop had to let me in to get her!!!!! She said other people had had the same experience earlier. I wondered if something was going on when I dropped her off because the place was a mess and normally it's really clean. There are 3 Petco, 2 Petsmart, and 3 Pet Food Express within 10 miles of me. However, the San Ramon Petco is closest and most convenient. This store is the small and the aisles are narrow. They are well stocked with all the food and treats that my dog eats. I had to go and buy a leash after my naughty dog chewed one of his leashes in half. The leash selection was OK but mostly geared toward smaller dogs. I did find a nice blue bungee one that seems likely to hold up for awhile. I don't shop here for the dog food since it is usually at least $4-5 dollars more a bag, but they send me discounts as a Pals club member. When ever Pet Club has a sale Eukanuba it is at least $7 cheaper than Petco. Still for the convenience Petco has what I need and is only 5 minutes away. read more

Terrible treatment of customers I fell outside of the store when I was taking my dog to the groomer. I broke my wrist on my way in and it caused me to be a few minutes late. When I went to drop my dog off the employee's would not accept him due to my tardiness. I was in such pain and asked them if they could make an exception due to the circumstance and they refused and could not care less about my situation. I still have yet to hear back from Petco despite emailing them at the email address provided by Melanie, the Petco associate who responded to my review. This is ridiculous. It's been almost a week and a half now. I have been taking my dog here for the past year and have had no issues before last week. I dropped my dog off and when I came to pick her up, I was told by one of the groomers that my dog was great. Later that night I noticed under her ear a large cut that was bleeding. The groomer cut her pretty bad and failed to even mention this to me! My dog was also chewing herself up and could hardly sleep for the next two nights as she was in so much discomfort. I noticed that the bottom half of her was cut way too short and that she got razor burn. I called and spoke to Marcus, the store a manger at Petco. I explained what happened and he referred me to a offsite vet that according to him, they have a great relationship with. They said they would cover any expenses and left it at that. This tells me that they have a lot of issues like mine with other dogs as when I called the vet to schedule an appointment, they said which Petco is this for and what's your pets name as I have a few cases here. Well that's reassuring! Marcus basically ended the call that my dog should stick to their normal groomer at Petco and that the salon MANAGER, LaDonna who groomed my dog this time was not familiar with Chloe and her typical cut and sometimes dogs get nicked when they move around . I don't know why some people say this is a small store. Looked pretty large to me, particularly after we had just visited a smaller, non-chain pet store. I like to support independent business owners, but the nice thing about chain stores like this one is that you can depend on them to have the item you want. In this case, a beta and fish supplies for a 7 year old. I also appreciate that store like this often have adoption events on the weekend. They had a bunch of cats and kittens, including some tiny ones up for foster care at the front (oh I was tempted). The store seemed well stocked and they seemed to have a decent selection of small animals. I would have liked to see more fish varieties, but we had no complaints about the beta selection at all. They had several varieties to choose from and multiple examples of each variety. Not only that, but there was a slightly bewildering array of "accessories" to choose from. We went simple by buying a small starter tank that included water conditioner and fish food. They get extra points for the employee that helped us out with our many questions. My husband was surprised that a store like this would have somebody that knowledgeable about fish. He certainly knew his stuff. Nice to see that Petco hires relevant people or trains their staff. My one complaint was that one of the betas on display (they all had their own separate little containers) was clearly dead. Way to traumatize his neighbors on all sides! Clearly, they need to check their fish a little more often during the day and clear out the dead ones. It made me a little nervous when we bought ours, but considering he was only a dollar and some change, eh....And it is certainly possible the dead fish was in no way their fault. The other betas looked like they were in good condition and the water in the containers were quite clean. At home my husband promptly dumped the fish in the new container, obviously without reading the little manual on how to care for your fish provided by the store employee. We were supposed to wait 24 hours after conditioning the water and introduce the poor thing slowly! Fortunately, the fish appears in fine fettle two days later, displaying at himself and eating the food. Doing fishy things. Thinking fishy thoughts. My children just love it. read more

Sadly my dig went to get his nails trimmed and buffed and when we went to pick him up he was bleeding. 2 of his nails were almost cut completely. They were not properly cut or buffed. Today is our furry baby's third birthday. My family wanted to celebrate her birthday with a nice spa day at Petco so they can pamper her with a bath, grooming, a cut, nail cutting, etc. They asked how we wanted her to be cut and we said a little shorter than her current hair. We were totally shocked when we went to pick her up. We were so disappointed to find out she was cut to almost bold. The person claimed that our dog was matted at some part of her body which we don't think she deserves this kind of punishment. She now looks so horrible like a homeless dog! I've been shopping in the Petco on crow canyon in San Ramon, ca. It's where I get pet food supplies and crickets for my bearded dragon. You have a nice staff overall, but what happened??? , as of late there has been a staff member, Ray, I don't know where he came from, but he should go back to wherever he came from or get some training on how to be nice to your customers..... because little gestures of kindness goes a long way!!!!!!!!! This is the second time when I asked for a little cricket food for the 20 large crickets I bought . Last time I bought 25. I'm there all the time buying crickets. It doesn't really matter how many crickets I buy from petco... but I am a regular customer. When I asked for cricket food, I was informed by Reed, that Ray had instructed him to not give out anymore cricket food to customers. Should just buy them from petco. Guess what, I also bought the flukers cricket food from petco so what the hell is ray talking about??? So I confronted Ray and asked why he's being so stingy because he's the only one who's given me a hard time. In fact this is the second time. He tells me someone from management has given him orders not to give away cricket food and water since petco sells them. I reminded him I'm a regular petco customer and he should learn how to treat customers right because a little goes a long way. That's not a wAy to run a business. Ray needs to learn to be a little giving and flexible. I can understand if I'm asking for free crickets and free dog food.... but just a couple of cricket food? Goodness!!!!! Ray definitely needs training because his bad attitude can drive customers awAy. I started taking my dog here when the Pet Smart grooming at Dublin was totally out of order with my dog. I like the girls here and they have been nice to my dog and done a good job. But, I ask them every time I take my dog in to express his anal glands. I was assured that they were doing it and they charged me for it every time. I recently took my dog to the vet to have his glands expressed because he was exhibiting signs that he was having a problem back there. The vet expressed his glands and told me they were very full and they had not been expressing them at the PetCo. When I went to the PetCo to discuss this with them I was told that they are not allowed to really express them. They just basically, give them a light squeeze and whatever they get out they get out. This is not acceptable. They are charging extra for this service and can't really do the job. They should not be charging for something they cannot adequately do. It hurts the animal and can, ultimately, cause an infection in the anal sacs. read more

Petco Grooming I dropped my dog off for grooming. Morgan did an amazing job , the check in was fine and overall, love the look. Why 5 star? I have taken Louie to other groomers before... each time the groomer would tell us he was "too matted" and shave him... or I would come home and "groom" him myself. The "fancy" groomers in San Ramon preferred the easy route ... If I want a "shaver" I will go to the fancy grooming places... if I want grooming, I'd rather have Morgan at Petco groom Louie. read more

I have the worst experience in their fish section. Once when I asked for five tetras, the associate refused and said my tank is too small, and he could sell me one. I understand if they say my tank is too small, but who with any fish experience would suggest selling just one of a schooling fish?? And today, another kid refused to sell me a female Betta, because he thought a planted, cycled, heated, filtered 3 1/2 gallon tank was too small. According to him, a female Betta can survive only in a 20 gallon community tank. The grooming service/store smelled like excrement - extremely. That of course made me wonder how bad the back room is with the kennels, where they're bathed, etc. must look/smell like. The floor was full of dog hair in every nook & cranny and I can't fathom the sweet any more than one time per day, perhaps when they close for the night. I got the basic service because I didn't want my dog's hair to be cut. They did so anyway ind it's all jagged and short. She's a short--haired dog and doesn't need to sheers! The staff was nice but I think the cleanliness and stretch responsibilities fall on their shoulders. I wish I didn't deviate away from Shampooches! I learned a hard lesson. read more

Lindsay is great. I do appreciate the work she has done for Hugo. I brought Hugo there last Monday but was suggested to bring him to vet first after he was bathed as he acted anxiously. Lindsay contacted me immediately and told me everything. After making sure Hugo is fine from vet, I scheduled another appointment this week to finish his grooming. Even if I was too late due to a meeting today to pick up Hugo. I did surprised by the work she did. I can tell from Hugo's state and fresh new appearance that Lindsay did her best. I came in on the evening of the 22nd after taking the kids to Fat Maddie's Grill (review coming), while letting them play tag in the court yard area to check on a fish tank, fish, a tank for a turtle and you guessed it a turtle. The young lady in the fish area was very friendly and helpful and acknowledged me right away. Once I started asking specifics on the turtle she called for her manager to come over and he showed up right away. I told him I was just starting my search and wasn't sure about certain things. He answered all of my questions and then provided extra information/answers to questions I didn't know I should have had. Stop and ask them what else you should know about XYZ because it definitely would have saved me and the turtle in the long run.
