Celebrating my dogs 6th birthday and had to go find some toys even though they don't need anymore lol. Walked to back of store to find the 75% and 50% off bucket of toys. Absolutely awful. I have a prescription for a pet food but it's from Banfield Hospital with PetSmart. Unfortunately no PetSmart store in the area has the food in stock and said it's on backorder. I called around and this Petco has it. I drove all the way out here to get it and have the prescription from Banfield but they won't take it. They said to have Banfield contact their store in the morning. What a waste of time and such an inconvenience. They should be able to sell the Science Diet Kidney Care food with a prescription from the vet. I understand needing to have a vet's approval but the vet writing out the script for it IS THE APPROVAL. I just got denied with the script in hand because I need a "prescription card" with a "barcode" for the employee to scan. I called my vet and they said they only write prescriptions and don't hand out these cards. My vet advised me to ask Petco's Pharmacy to approve the script and provide me with a card. And go figure the Petco Pharmacy was closed. So my dying cat couldn't get the food he needed all because of a stupid barcode to scan. Having the prescription from the doctor could have been enough to let me buy ONE CAN tonight for my cat to eat. Luckily, even though the office at my vet was closed, somebody was there and allowed me in to get a can from them understanding the situation. Apparently this Petco is known for being rude & mean denying veterinary prescriptions unless you get it from their vet in the store. My advice, I just ordered from Chewy. And Chewy will reach out to your vet for you and sell you the food WITHOUT a prescription card with a barcode. Btw Chewy has almost everything Petco has, but cheaper. read more

Our 10-year-old dog got an exam this month with a vet at this Petco store and was diagnosed with advanced cancer and is in a lot of pain. The doctor prescribed Rimadyl (pain/inflammation/muscle relaxer Rx) for our dog and he showed an immediate relief in his pain level and improved mobility. We were delighted to see the light come back to his eyes and him being able to move around a lot better. The Rimadyl prescription was only for a week at a time and it had 2 refills. We asked before leaving the vet's office if our dog needs more refills, what would be needed to do. The doctor said all we need to do is call for more refills and they would fill them there, no problem. So we left and didn't worry about it. Well, after we used up all of the refills, we called to refill the Rx again. The vet office told us the Rx refill was filled and ready to pick up, but when we went in to get it, we were given THREE different stories from various staff members there. So, long story short, they lied to us about the prescription being refilled and ready, and they said they WON'T refill our DYING DOG'S medication without paying for ANOTHER exam (after just having a full exam a few weeks ago), that only the original doctor who diagnosed our dog and wrote the original prescription could do a refill, AND the vet who examined and diagnosed our dog with cancer was not at that clinic again for another WEEK. Nobody was even willing to call that doctor at the other clinic where they were that day to get the 'okay' to prescribe more refills for our dying dog. The incompetence, dishonesty, and unfathomable lack of compassion among the people at this vet clinic is IMMEASURABLE! We were so furious, we just left and will never go back there. If you love your pet, STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET CLINIC! read more

When I checked in my dog for her grooming appointment they asked if I wanted what was in the sheet, not knowing what was in the system I told them we like her face rounded out and the hair on top of her head left longer, she said sure and took her back when I came back her hair cut was butchered and I keep finding spots that are uneven. I see why they make you pay and ask for a tip before bringing your dog out... plus with the price increases it's almost the same to have a mobile groomer come to the house now.... read more

First impressions are everything. When I first walked in, said good morning to the person sit at the grooming check in and no response. Even if not my dog's groomer for the day it doesn't hurt to respond with a Good morning. As a vital care member, I know how it goes and this was not the norm experience. My dog gets groomed every 3 to 4 wks. I had to ask the check out guy are you going to scan my vital bar code after he told me $90 and asked if I wanted to leave a tip. How about I get my rewards taken care of 1st and see my dog before I leave a tip? So no I would not and will not return. I picked this location due to having an event today and need an earlier time than our normal drop off at other location. Usually it take 3hrs but they were done in 2 with a hair cut and essential package. Like I said won't be back and should have read reviews. Unfortunately this was the first and last time coming to Petco for a grooming session. We had a session with Robin. I asked for a full service with hair cut and I added nail buffing. I was charged for an extra 15 min brush out as well. Maybe a scam to get their tip? I asked for her to be shaved with the shortest trimmer which Robin did but all of it is very uneven. Luckily she got the schnauzer shape on the face right so my dog doesn't look like an absolute dud. Just spoke with Customer Service, only took 10 minutes to speak to someone in this country. They tell me the online advertised price is only good if you buy online and pick up in store. If you look at their site, it states there is an extra 10% savings for buying online and picking up in store. There is nothing in print concerning online price being different than in-store pricing. Typical bait and switch, you search online for what you think is a good price and pay twice the advertised price trying to purchase an item. Have a different view Petco? Lola and I have gone there to use the self service bath a couple of times. Granted, I was nervous about using it, as I have only bathed her at home. The way the wash system is set up was very easy to use, and the staff came by a couple of times to make sure that Lola and I were doing well. She was. So much so that instead of shivering like she used to, she was literally basking in the water, as if she was at a spa. Spoiled rotten. While I was there, I asked about food, as she has specific chicken and grain allergies. The staff gave us a couple of options, and decided to go with the one with the raw bits in it. Lola loved it, and no rashes! Will I be back? Of course! She had a great time, and so did I! Way to go, Petco! read more

This morning I (and four other strangers) waited outside Petco anticipating the store to open at 9 AM as posted on the giant sign to the right of the door. The times were not the usual painted on times so it appeared to be a new sign posting new hours. At 9:07 I went to the door to see if it was open. Finally a woman came up and shouted they would not be open until 10 and pointed at a TINY sign inside the foyer (definitely not visible until pointed out). All 5 of us left very unhappy, not that they weren't open, but because of the poor signage. I just called the manager to suggest they update the signage and make it more visible. Though he made some "we don't want to make our customers unhappy" comments, he went on to primarily make excuses: "you can't make everyone happy," "some of our customers complained about the sign on the door blocking their view," "it's been this way for two weeks," and "it's on the website." Well, I don't shop for dog food every day, not even every week. I was at the nearby grocery store and instead of checking the website, I just drove by and checked the storefront ( should have been as reliable as the website). And even if customers didn't like the sign on the window, why not replace or cover the sign to the right of the door? Placing my Amazon order now. read more

Went in for a regular haircut like always had the salon manager working on my dog so i thought it would be next to perfect, first of all she acted like she had better things to do second, the cut was mediocre at best. I took my 7 months Pomeranian today for her bath and trim. Horrible service, they gave me my puppy just I left her, they did not trim her at all. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! When I grabbed her to check on her, I noticed that she was not brushed, trimmed and was still kind of wet. I asked the lady to clean her behind because that was the reason why I payed for her to get trimmed, and she told me that was $10 extra. I came home to blow dry and brush her. On top of that they ask for tip. I will never taking my puppy to Petco again. I'll rather drive down to Petsmart they did an excellent job when I took her for her first bath. Snowball is groomed here regularly. The staff is always professional and friendly. The ladies always do a great job of keeping Snowball looking good! Today was a bit of an emergency which they accommodated us even without an appointment. The issue began when I picked Snowball up from being boarded for four days. When I got him from the boarder, Greatwood Vetinary Hospital, he was covered in urine. After leaving him in good hands at Petco he was returned to us a better looking, and smelling, dog after being groomed here today. See the before and after pics. We dropped our small terrier mix off yesterday to get groomed, just your average bath, nails, etc. When I dropped her off the 4 ladies working were very sweet and friendly, but when I picked her up it was 2 ladies that weren't there when I dropped her off, they're the reasons for the 2 stars. Had the 4 ladies not been nice when I dropped her off they would've gotten 1 star. When I went in and politely told them I was there for Popcorn the girl sitting behind the desk was EXTREMELY rude and was short with me, threw the receipt at me and said 'go pay and I'll bring her out in a sec' I ignored her attitude and politely said 'thank you' and walked 9ut to pay. I stood in line for 15 minutes (not part of the complaint, just a fact. It was Friday night and they were very busy at the registers) and that girl never brought my dog out! So after paying I went back in and she wouldn't even acknowledge that I was standing there. The other girl working who was making a sign over in the back came up and asked again who I was there for, so again I politely said I was there for Popcorn, the first girl still just sitting there glaring at me. The second girl went in the back and got my 25 pound dog, carried her halfway down the hallway and then DROPPED HER!!!!! She effing dropped my dog and pretended it never happened. I will be speaking with a manager and I will NOT being going back there EVER again. Popcorn LOVED to go to the groomers but last night, she was shaking and upset the whole night! They called me to come get him because "he got aggressive and tried to bite her." I rushed back and it turns out he wouldn't sit still and kept rolling over. The employees are nice and very helpful. They have a good selection of dog food. They also have a lot of fish and we've adopted a rat from there. They also have grooming services and pet classes. Worst grooming experience ever. I will gladly explain to anyone why they shouldn't bring their animal here for grooming. If the grooming staff maybe showed up on time, put the customer (my dog) first, showed compassion for their job- maybe I wouldn't speak so harsh. My dog is very old and very sweet and calm. She happened to have matted fur and the grooming lady took one look at my dog, shaved one arm of my dog off and brought my dog back to me saying she couldn't do anything for my dog. My dog has been groomed before and it takes a little extra time sure and I would have gladly payed extra for any extra labor ... but what else can you do except complain and find another groomer‍. Save your money and find a groomer that loves their job and the animals that they groom-because the ones here surely don't! read more

VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!I called this petco in Richmond-Rosenberg Texas before driving to the store to confirm their advertising was correct that Santa Pet Pictures were there today from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The man who answered the phone for petco confirmed Santa would be there to 4 today. I told him we were on our way. When we got there Santa was not. We got there at 3:40. Out Christmas shopping and wanted to get a few things for our Daisy, a rescue Cocker Spaniel. They were having a pet adoption which made entering a little hard as you entered the door. Also they were having pictures taken with their pets and Santa Clause. We need some new toys, and new collar and some peanut butter flavored chew bones. We couldn't get to the collars because there was a line with people and pets waiting for Santa pictures. So we got the rest of our things and headed for the counter as we got there the checkout clerk helped a customer check out and we were next. There was a gentleman waiting and he asked the clerk a question and the next thing we knew he said I will be right back and left us and his register. After about 10 minutes of standing there with others waiting too. We decided to just leave! We will not be back to this store after this incident. This review is based on a vaccination clinic: I have used this vaccination clinic before in another state and in NW Houston on Hwy 6 and had no problems. I went to the Petco in Rosenberg, TX on 12/27/2014 from 4-5pm for the vaccination clinic. The assistants were very nice. The vet on the other hand was 15 minutes late, strolls in talking on the phone and proceeded to talk on the phone while carelessly administering the vaccinations. He did not introduce himself or ask any questions about my dogs. In past clinics, I had a good professional experience. I should of left when I had the chance. Two of my dogs ended up with a massive swelling on their neck the size of a tennis ball. I had a vet appointment on the following Monday and she informed me that the location site of the vaccination was incorrect, can possibly cause problems and is a reason for concern. It's been a week and one of the two dogs have improved but the second dog is still a concern. If there is no improvement, then another trip to the vet. I have to say that I will not be going to these clinics to save a few bucks because in the end its costing me more due to the veterinarian's carelessness. Due to my experience, I question the credibility of this vet. read more

She gave my friends and me very useful information on the animals we purchased and for future pets we would like to own. If you live near Rosenberg or in Rosenberg I recommend going to Petco. Ren helped us with how we should take care of the animal we got (a betta fish) and how to care for the next animal we would like to get (a corn snake). 10 out of 10 recommend this Petco!!!! read more

We have been shopping at Petco for years!! Well just last week i bought some dry dog food and several cans of wet. All of a sudden my super healthy dog became very ill. Today I looked at the bottom of the can and realized Petco sold me 4-6 cans that have been expired 3-6 months?? I am so upset!! The worst customer service ever! I walked in the grooming area and there were two ladies working with dogs. Fine I'll wait. I just need my dog's nails clipped and it won't take long. When one lady finished her dog I thought she would at least ask me what I was waiting for or tell me how many dogs were in front of me but no. She walked to the back and brought out another dog.
