Wether it's a car ride, hiking, swimming or maybe go to the mall. I wanted a dog that can do many tricks and impress my friends and family while protecting us anywhere we go. I started researching online and discovered that such a dog can cost anywhere from $50k to a $120k (not kidding). Not willing to spend this kind of money, I decided to go a different route. I started my search for a good working lines German shepherd dog breeder and found one locally. I got my pup around 8 weeks old and wanted to find a good dog trainer right away. After countless days of speaking to different trainers, I came across Nick through Facebook and decided to give him a try. From the moment I spoke to Nick, I knew that he was a great fit for Apollo. He explained to me that this is a project dog and cannot be completed overnight and will require different courses throughout my puppy's development which I happily agreed to. I sent Apollo in for the very first time at 3 months old for his first 2 weeks program. It made a huge difference. I couldn't believe that it was the same dog. Apollo was crate trained, obedient and was able to learn more than 7 commands in German. Apollo is 7 months old now and I just dropped him off to Nick for another 2 weeks. I can't wait to see what my pup can learn this time! It's really hard to find a dog trainer that can handle Apollo's level of energy. I will not let anyone touch Apollo but Nick.

When one our dogs had cancer and was on chemo she had to be separated from other dogs but the staff made sure she had extra cuddles and walks not to mention giving her the meds. Doggie day care is second to none! Lots of room to run and play outside with plenty of supervision. This is the only place I will take my dogs and cat.

Previously, i had worked…read morewith 2 other trainers so i wasn't sure if they would be able to help but after meeting with Oscar, i felt reassured that they knew how to handle my stubborn Pomeranian, Popcorn. Oscar immediately picked up that Popcorn was nervous which has been an issue I wasn't sure would improve. We decided on a board and train program and I loved that they worked with my needs. Yes, it was extremely hard to leave my dog for 3 weeks but big improvements require big changes. I have been thrilled to see him develop overall obedience and improved behavior. I can now take my dog to restaurants, la centera, and parks knowing that he will behave well. People even compliment his obedience. I would definitely recommend meeting with Oscar for any behavioral modifications or overall obedience. The staff is also kind and will work with your needs. The lobby is currently closed due to COVID-19 social distancing but a staff member is always aware when you arrive to greet you. We initially thought we'd foster her for adoption due to her dog aggression issues. After working with Travis, we decided togive Rosie a forever home ourselves. We brought Travis in to privately train her so she didn't have to deal with the stress of a group setting and because we wanted a tailored training program. With Lone Star Dog Training, we received an excellent job. Travis educated us about how training is important and what results he felt we could see. Over the course of 4 months, Rosie went from being aggressive toward our other dogs to feeling safe and comfortable with them. She's even adopted our 12 year old border terrier as her sister. Rosie has progressed from a frightened stray who did not wag her tail or understand how to take affection, to bounding and leaping with joy when she sees her people. She now seeks out our affections and looks forward to spending time with us. If not for Lone Star Dog Training, we would not have decided to keep her. The negative was the groomers all chit chatting while dogs where crying loudly in the background. Apparently they are paid to talk more than groom. There's a big glass window there guys so everyone can see what you are doing (or not doing in this case) while dogs are loudly crying and scratching at kennels. No vet here either. Not sure if that is good or bad honestly since most of them aren't very clean anyway.

No one contacted me. Manager Ron acknowledged the issue was known that morning but made no attempt to notify me and deflected responsibility with vague explanations. The groomer did her part. Management did not. This was entirely preventable and shows a serious lack of follow-through and accountability. I only avoided a wasted trip by calling myself. Unacceptable.

We sent her to Shelley and Martin for a 3 week inboard training. They kicked Balashi out after a week saying she was untrainable. The videos they would send us showed Balashi being very lethargic and not herself. Since then, we hired an in home trainer who was able to change Balashi's life around. She is a completely different dog and the trainer did this in 5 one hour sessions. We finally had our happy dog back after this training. We are now able to walk her and take her to public places and she is absolutely great. No telling how Shelmar Kennels treated our baby while there. One thing is for sure, we would NEVER recommend them.
