I've been going to this location for years and 5 stars for the service and positive attitudes when shopping in store. My review is for a recent repeat delivery of dry dog food I give one star. I've had repeat delivery for a long time, over a year at least, and never ever had an issue. The instructions on the order are clearly stated to "leave at the front door" and that's what they've done. Yesterday, I received a phone call while on the other line. It was Doordash driver Marissa regarding my delivery. She said she was on her way but needed specific instructions where to leave my items and to please call her back. She did not leave a number and the Doordash number I tried to return immediately did not accept calls. Her message said she would be there around 12:29 pm so I started watching for her around 12:26 pm. I saw a car pull up in front of the neighbors house at that time and waited to see if anyone got out and I would greet them. The car stayed parked there until 12:35 pm and then just did a u-turn and pulled away and then immediately received a message my order was undeliverable and being returned to the store. She was literally here, and did not attempt to even knock on my door or call again before leaving. I understand this is a Doordash issue, but I did not order Doordash to deliver my dog food, Petco did. I called Petco as soon as I got the message it was being returned and a nice young man answered. He said it's delivered by Doordash and if I had issues I had to call them myself. Not cool. They arranged the delivery, they should fix the issue. I did call Doordash and as expected, they were confused because they were looking at my personal account, not from Petco. After a long while, they finally tracked the delivery from Petco and then said it had to have a signature because it was alcohol. No, it's dog food. Next response was it needed a signature due to price. Back and forth. Forty minutes later Doordash wants to reschedule but I have to be home to sign. I was late to an appointment and that didn't work. Ridiculous I had to spend 40 min on the phone with Doordash and Petco doesn't follow through to correct and issue themselves. Problem solved - canceled Repeat Delivery and using Amazon that will leave the items at my door. Done with Petco. If a company won't solve their own issues when something goes wrong, I will shop elsewhere. read more

We went to buy a food for my daughter 'dogs so she sent me a picture of the bag so when we arrived to the store we asked a guy by the entrance and he was so rude telling us that the bags were in the back or we can go to Walmart . We found the bag so when we went to pay I gave the phone number of my daughter and he asked for her e-mail when usually you guys never ask before I had to call her a couple times because she was driving This was happened last Sunday April 19 around 7:10 pm Please just put people whit really good service Thank you read more

Rufus, a cat for adoption was the only one in the adoption area with a litter box so filled up that there was no room for him to use it. Standing in front of the cage area... rancid! I let the employee know that the litter needed to be changed; you can smell it in the isle. She said it is not their responsibility rather another lady running the adoptions. They haven't been able to reach her for a number of days. I asked; in the mean time, can someone just change the litter? It is ridiculous that the litter has been this way for days?! The smell alone, ugh. She said she couldn't change it, NOT THEIR responsibility. I even asked if I could change it - WTAF Petco?! Are you not in the business of health pets? Unbelievable. Originally I would schedule with Nicole, who is no longer at this location. We were sad that she left as my dog gets a bit anxious , but I've started scheduling with Patricia and she does a great job. She's always very gentle and caring to my dog. When they honor your appointment, they do an okay job. Not bad, not great, just okay. My dog is usually still a bit wet behind her ears and around her tail and butt when I pick her up, and it's about 50/50 that they actually do her nails. They charge $50 for a basic bath and nail trim for a golden retriever, which is way less than anyone else in town. Most other places charge $100-220 for a basic bath, blow dry, and nails on a large golden. The main complaint I have is that they have cancelled our appointment three of the six times we have booked. Each time it's the same, I book an appointment online a week or more in advance. I get a call right before they close the day before our appointment, and am told the groomer I scheduled with is not in tomorrow. I've always selected 'any groomer' when booking, so this excuse doesn't even make sense. read more

@Petco -- Today my husband and I had a truly disappointing experience at your Livermore, CA store. We went to purchase a koi fish, as we were advised to do by your San Ramon location (where we previously purchased one without issue). After selecting a fish, we were told by a Livermore associate that because our tank is 30 gallons, they would not sell it to us, claiming koi require 60 gallons. We explained that we currently house small goldfish and a baby koi, and that San Ramon staff had no concerns about our setup. In fact, your website only recommends 29 gallons--nowhere does it state 60 gallons is a requirement. Nor was there any sign or posted policy in the store. We asked to speak to the manager, Debra Peck, who was dismissive, condescending, and flat-out rude. She interrupted us, refused to provide her name in writing, and ended the conversation by saying, "this is going in circles" before walking away. We were stunned. To make matters worse, your website allows koi fish to be shipped directly to homes with no verification of tank size or stated requirements. If this isn't discrimination, then what is? Grooming I thought about this long and hard before leaving a review. I've been going to Petco since my dog was a puppy. I am aware and understand that my yorkie is a little sensitive around his private areas. It's noted in his file and I make sure to state it every time he's handed over to a new person in case of difficulty or fidgeting on his end. This way, they can avoid it all together and do their best around it. My poor little guy seems to have a few nicks when we got home. Among that, there were two ticks on him that I had no idea about. His coat before the appointment was a little long but not matted. I was able to spot them quickly with his new shortcut and get rid of them, but it also made me question. If they didn't practice or avoid it due to liability, wouldn't they call me to let me know? Disappointed with the service and sadly won't be returning. read more

I went there to return some small cans of cat food that I purchases last week. I had my return slip and all they kept saying was: they couldn't find my account and I didn't have the correct receipt. I told them just to give me credit for the cans I wanted to return and I would get something else. Three people took care of me and none of them would return their own cat food for a credit. No receipt, no return, no receipt no return. That's all they kept saying. The lady in charge was very indignant and rude. I did NOT steal this cat food! I just wanted credit. I was just at the Livermore Petco picking up some items for a school project with my two little girls. I had some questions that I was waiting to ask the cashier behind a lady that was in the middle of completing her transactions. I can only assume that the lady felt that I may have been too close to her when she turned to me and said "can you please move over there and wait". It was amongst the rudest interactions I have ever experienced, especially in front of my girls. I stepped back and moved away from this lady and let her finish her transaction. Since my girls were with me, I didn't want to have an exchange with her. Come to find out, she was the store manager. We had an appt on Sunday, 6/1 at 9am. We showed up at 8:55 and no one was there. A guy showed up at 9am and couldn't open the doors himself. He mentioned his boss' car was there, but no one was inside to let us in (he was supposed to clock in at 9am). At 9:10ish, a lady walked up and didn't acknowledge any of us. She opened the store doors and then gave an annoyed gesture like "are you coming in or what?" She did the same thing when opening the door to the grooming section. At this point, i turned to my wife and asked if she was sure we wanted this lady to work on our dog's nails. Her attitude was that unfriendly. There was no hello or apology for making us wait. My wife asked if there would be any discount for making us wait, and the lady rudely said "just nails right? I can do $5 off." My wife said it was for nails and glands, and the lady gave her a rude look and said "ya $5 off." I cannot express just how rude this lady was being. My wife turned to me and said she felt uncomfortable, so we left without the service being done. There was something so clearly off with her, and we wish we got her name. If she is management, something needs to change. If she's an employee, she cost your company $ today and in the future because we will no longer be regular customers. read more

This is specific to grooming. My dog has been going there for many years for grooming. His normal groomer was Patty who was amazing and Fletcher loved. Unfortunately Fletcher had a back surgery when he was young but this has never been an issue with getting groomed at this location. We went to go back it was an issue as Patti has retired. He has literally been groomed there for years after his back surgery but all of a sudden became an issue. We won't be giving Petco any business moving forward. read more

I pretty much just come here for some dog and cat food as well as the occasional toy now and then. The place is usually really clean and the staff is very friendly and I am able to find everything with ease. Only "problems" I've had in the past is that sometimes the checkout lines are really long and there's like one person working them and I've been here a few times when they didn't have any bags or they ran out. So I pretty much had to carry several different items to my car and it was a bit difficult. Other than that, solid spot! read more

I have been shopping here a lot more frequently since Pet Supplies Plus across the street closed a few months ago. At least on a few occasions I have received excellent customer service. Back in December, I called to check if they had the specific Aquaeon fish filter cartridge and pads in stock (which they did). The employee was nice enough to put it on hold for me until I could pick it up later in the day. On another trip to the store, as I was wandering the aisles wondering what to feed my new pup (who was suffering from loose stools), Tami took the time to show me around all the different kinds of foods with prebiotics/probiotics as well as the canned pumpkin solution for short term care. The prices seem comparable to other pet stores and even to Amazon. One star off because they are frequently out of stock on aquarium items and don't carry some of the brands I'd like to try (for instance Nulo). Also, in-store deals (i.e. buy 4, get 1 free on canned dog food) doesn't seem to translate on the website. Some consistency in price would be nice. read more

I am pretty disappointed with my previous experience. I took my mini aussie to groomed March 23rd. The package includes bath, haircut, nails, etc and I typically add on the specialties like oatmeal sensitive shampoos etc. Now I am wondering if what I am being charged extra for is even getting done. I left quickly to leave for Oregon after picking up my dog from his appointment. I don't think the dogs even get let out to use the bathroom after they are groomed and placed back in the dryer as while driving home in his little dog car seat thing he had an accident (accidents happen but this could be an issue for dogs who are left unattended with other health issues.) However my main disappointment is that I was charged for a nail trim that wasnt even completed/done. This was only brought to my attention by my mom who said he got a claw stuck on a blanket which prompted me to see his nails very close to his pads. I have worked at a dog kennel for 3 years and have first hand knowledge of when a trim has been done and if quicks are long, and there was literally no attempt at all. (I would do so myself but have a back injury which is why I brought him here the first few times.) Will be looking at taking him else where that does a much more thorough job. Decent location for Petco, this is a great store to go to if you're running low on food, pet litter or supplies. The one thing they have is variety for sure, however you're not guaranteed the best price overall. I like the convenience of them having everything you need at one place though! And the customer service seems to be consistently good. I like that they will do price adjustments if needed, as well. They were out of a larger bag size and gave us the same price for two smaller ones that equaled up to the same weight. read more

This review is for the grooming section of Petco. I had booked an appointment to have my dog bathed and groomed, and we arrived on time. Upon entrance, Skye proceeded to ask if my dog is crate-trained because my dog would have to sit in there for 3-4 hours until she can even start to cut her fur. While my dog is crate-trained, I am not about to leave her in a crate for that amount of time in a completely new environment. I asked Skye why it would take so long, to which she answered "I'm behind and there are two other dogs in front of you". After asking why she didn't just give me a call to let me know about this before I drove an hour to get there, she just said "I didn't have time". I get it. You're busy, and people lose track of time. However, this is a business with service to customers that expect quality communication. Make it a priority to keep track of time, know when the next clients are coming, and plan to keep them informed. Skye's solution was to reschedule me to come in tomorrow for the same bath and grooming. What would stop her from running into the same issue and not notifying me again before I drive another full hour to this location? Ridiculous. So, I left having nothing done. For our labradoodle grooming (haircut and shampoo) appointment, we got a call 5min before the pick up time and was told that they were not able to complete the hair cut today and if we can come the next day. Recognizing that they could have run into some bandwidth issue, I accepted but what they did to my dog was horrible. It seems like they did spent 5 mins to give a random cut to ensure that we have to come back. Half of the body and one of the legs were shaved that made my dog look sick. Once I'm done with this grooming session, I would never go back to this location at least. read more

The store is ok, some of the workers are ok, the dog trainer is nice. There are some of the workers I will avoid. The one girl who has short blonde hair. She keeps pushing the care package on me. I have said no a number of times, so I avoid her completely. Due to all this care pushing, I will shop online or go to other pet stores to get my pet food supplies. They never seem to have what I need in the way of needed supplies. This store is run really badly. You stand in line, and the one person at the check stands calls for help, and no one else comes up. They also leave people waiting in line with no explanation and walk-off, I guess, to help others who are waiting in other departments. I have actually been told I can't help you. I am off the clock. I get they are off the clock, but all I am asking is where I can find something. I consider that comment a little rude. I will go to Dublin they have more on the shelves with less attitude. UPDATE This store has so many problems with the way it's run. The toilet paper rolls are not even inside the holders, and the same with the paper towels. When you ask for help, the girls working out on the floor seem to have the attitude you are bothering them. Why is this store so bad? I go to Dublin, and they are accommodating, friendly, and outgoing. I will never go back to this store. I believe in second chances, but I have given this store too many second chances. Update: My husband went to this store, and I refuse to go, After the other day, my husband will no longer go either. He overheard three girls talking, and he said the blonde pushy girl said there are a lot of annoying customers at this store, and it was easy to overhear this conversation because she was talking about it out in the open. I've reached my limit with this store. If you already know exactly what you need and want to avoid any interaction, then it might work for you. However, for anyone else, good luck. I've made three attempts to seek assistance in their fish department, and each time I left empty-handed. On two occasions, I patiently waited for them to finish with another customer, only to have the staff members walk off without acknowledging me. Seriously, I'm not standing there just so they can revel in my glory. It's clear that the management doesn't allocate enough staff members. Consider yourself fortunate if you spot two employees in the entire store. Moreover, if you appear to need help, they actively go out of their way to avoid you. When it comes to fish products, I now go out of my way to visit PetSmart, and I exclusively purchase my food from Pet Food Express. While Pet Food Express may be slightly pricier, the quality is outstanding, and their staff members are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to assist. In contrast, it's a stroke of luck if you even receive a simple "hello" from the people at Petco. Overall, my experience at this store has left me thoroughly dissatisfied, primarily due to the lack of assistance and the dismissive attitude of the staff. We took our dog Winnie to get a haircut. Our first time coming here. Once we picked up the dog and got home we noticed our other dog licking his cheek nonstop. So we looked and he had a big gash that was scabbed with dry blood and clumpy. We called and they wouldn't take responsibility. We then took our other dog and the haircut was terrible and they didn't clean her ears. AND THEN... our neighbor took the dog to get cut there as well. And they told us they she dropped her dog off here to get cut and Petco called them saying their dog has a hematoma and they need to come pick their dog up. So she rushed to Petco picked up her dog and took it to the vet ER. They told her that their dog doesn't have a hematoma but that the groomer cut both of the dogs ears and that where the blood was coming from. And again Petco would take responsibility. STAY AWAY. I WISH I HAD A GOOD PICTURE OF OUR SOGS GASH BUT IT WAS TOO HARD TO GET WITH ALL THE FUR. read more

This review is for Vetco and the horrible vaccine services we received today (10/29/2024). My dog's been going to this place for all his shots since he was adopted 3 years ago. Every time he was excited to walk in and got his shots done in just a few minutes without any issue. The old vet must be retired, so here is the new vet and her assistant. The assistant was walking to us with his hoody hat on. Immediately my dog felt threatened and started to bark. I said sorry and asked him if he can put down his hat, because that might be the reason why my dog was scared. Then he was trying to take the leash and walk my dog to the exam room. My dog didn't want to. I asked if I can go with him so he doesn't feel scared, but I was not allowed. After 1 or 2 minutes my dog was taken out from the exam room by the assistant telling me I need to put on muzzle on him. I told them my dog wouldn't like it, but I can help them comfort and control him when they give him the shot. They refused and insisted that my dog needs a muzzle. I realized it's oral Bordetella vaccine and my dog is actually very food driven. He never had issue taking any medication. The old vet and his assistants used to feed him peanut butter and my pup didn't even feel the shots. I asked them if I can just feed him the oral vaccine and was told no. The vet said she needed to listen to my dog's heart, but my dog didn't like to be touched. I told her let's just get the vaccine today and skip the wellness check, because my dog is already scared and very protective. Then the vet told me that my dog will never be provided services again at their clinic, because I refused to put on muzzle and the dog was trying to bite her assistant. WOW! I can't believe she is an experienced vet and she is so impatient and just trying to kick us out. What's wrong with her? If you literally hate animals, why would you become a vet? No patience, no service, horrible! read more

My dog sitter had lost a GPS collar While shopping at Petco. I had gone back to the store to try to locate it. Ciara and SJ the managers were extremely helpful. I had my dog with me and they were also very helpful with Abby, they got her water while we were looking.This Store has such great customer service. I went to this store to get 5 neon tetra for my daughters fish tank. We have a 5 gallon tank with one male beta in it and because of this, the store refused to sell me any neon tetra. The employee I spoke to had to go ask an "animal companion manager" or something like that and apparently this person has the final say. I am sure I have had a fish tank longer than each of these employees have been alive but they can make a blanket decision and refuse to sell me tiny little fish because they blindly identify all male betas as "aggressive Japanese fighting fish". They are obviously too naïve and over confident to think that possibly in reality people commonly have betta with a small school of tetra. I have been to this store in the past where these same employees have scolded other customers for other pet related things like the collar an owner chooses to use on their dog. read more

I would give them a zero if an option was available. Do not get scammed into the vital care package they are pushing. They don't tell you that you are trapped into paying 20.00 per month for a year and they don't have to give you your credits. They expire. I have a new puppy and was using their grooming services. The first two haircuts were a choppy mess. I complained and was given to a new groomer. When I go to pick up my dog from groomer there was no one there. The store had one cashier and no one available and long line. I heard my puppy howling and crying. To my surprise the groomers area was still unlocked and so was the area where my dog was locked in a kennel all alone in the dark with loud music blaring. I guess the groomer had to leave early and forgot to tell anyone that there was a dog there. My puppy was traumatized. I made a complaint that night and asked for manager to call. I never received a call or message or apology. They didn't even let me use the discount and credit benefit of the stupid plan though still charge me monthly. When I called customer service they said they would not release me from my contract, would not credit the money I accumulate monthly of 15.00 and let me buy out the plan. My only option is to wait until my plan Renews and cancel it. The rep would not give me his employee id or any way to identify him. When I asked to speak to his supervisor he said that they would have to see if he has time. The rep Jovan was condescending and rude and not helpful at all. He seemed to be proud that they have an iron clad contract and that regardless of service that a customer is stuck for a year, which also was not disclosed. It's a total rip-off and borders on illegal. Petco does not care about animals or customers and this vital care is another way to rip people off read more
