    Baby before her Grooming
    Breana H.

Thank you so much to the wonderful groomers! I've been brining my furr-baby here for about 2 years now and I'm always pleased with the outcome. Originally I would schedule with Nicole, who is no longer at this location. We were sad that she left as my dog gets a bit anxious , but I've started scheduling with Patricia and she does a great job. She's always very gentle and caring to my dog. And does a great job with trims and styling her as I desire. Thanks Petco!

Grooming I thought about this long and hard before leaving a review. I've been going to Petco since my dog was a puppy. I am aware and understand that my yorkie is a little sensitive around his private areas. It's noted in his file and I make sure to state it every time he's handed over to a new person in case of difficulty or fidgeting on his end. This way, they can avoid it all together and do their best around it. My poor little guy seems to have a few nicks when we got home. Among that, there were two ticks on him that I had no idea about. His coat before the appointment was a little long but not matted. I was able to spot them quickly with his new shortcut and get rid of them, but it also made me question. If they didn't practice or avoid it due to liability, wouldn't they call me to let me know? Disappointed with the service and sadly won't be returning.

I pretty much just come here for some dog and cat food as well as the occasional toy now and then. The place is usually really clean and the staff is very friendly and I am able to find everything with ease. Only "problems" I've had in the past is that sometimes the checkout lines are really long and there's like one person working them and I've been here a few times when they didn't have any bags or they ran out. So I pretty much had to carry several different items to my car and it was a bit difficult. Other than that, solid spot!

Great job on the clean fish tanks! One of the very few Petco stores in the Bay Area that keeps up with the maintenance and care of their aquatics department.

However, my girl has been used for service dog work and always with me. We got our second dog this year and they are great playmates at home as she's not needed to work unless I'm indoors.. We are traveling next March for baseball and trying to cover all bases. We will be staying at a dog friendly home, and saw a Camp Bow Wow in AZ a half mile from our stay. Thought it might be more fun for the dogs to go there then stay home 4-5 hours in a strange place so we should check out our local franchise. The staff here was amazing. Very lovely people and encounters with everyone we spoke with. One of the gals mentioned she brings her own fur baby sometimes and that says enough that she trusts the care and treatment here for her own family. So how did mine do? Well, I had my girl go in first. Our second pup has learned to follow her and thought that would be the best introduction for them as he always wants to go where she does. It doesn't help I just too her to the vet for the vaccines needed to visit and had her nails done and anal glands at the same time.. I think she felt the same stress coming here a couple days later. They said she tried to nip when they put her with other pups, but they let her calm down and relax a bit and then she went in and did just fine. Oddly our newest rescue that shakes at every new experience went in just fine.. again, he knew she was there already, so that went okay. I thank the team here for letting my pups destress and go in with the other. My boys dog looked like he was doing leaps and bounds with others on the doggie cam.. it's a bummer my girl just wanted to lay by the gate and wait 4 hours for me. She didn't cry or do anything bad, nor did Camp Bow Wow, she just wasn't thrilled to be there. I was my big bow get some pats and loves as he will run up for attention, but she didn't get any, and I watched the whole time she was gone (yes, It was a big deal for me too to be away from her).. Not sure if they aren't allowed to go up and pet or comfort dogs that are just laying in the corner, but it would be nice if the did. I will take them back a few more times here in Livermore and see how my girl does. I'm not sure he would do great there without her but might try that too as another option. I just appreciate the people here that didn't give up on letting my pups give doggy daycare a try.

The initial consultation went very well, and I learned so much about dog communication and how to better support Peaches. I also learned that she is a highly anxious dog, which explained many of the challenges I had been concerned about. Just like humans, dogs rehabilitate at their own pace, and over those six weeks Peaches made significant progress. We're looking forward to enrolling in advanced training once she's ready so she can enjoy more freedom off-leash. Gary is not like other trainers we've worked with. He doesn't rely on obedience-based shortcuts or gimmicks. Instead, he teaches you how to work through real situations and explains the theory behind his approach so you truly understand what's happening and how to handle stressful moments. From day one, it was clear he knows his stuff and loves what he does. A lot of the time, Giorgi was too overwhelmed to participate. On day 1, Giorgi hid under a table the whole session. But that's ok because Gary was really training us. By the last session, Giorgi was walking around, watching other dogs and people walk by, and still listening to commands. Gary taught us how to help Giorgi feel safe, calm him down when he's stressed, and build trust. We've already seen such a difference at home. Gary is knowledgeable, patient, direct (in the best way), funny, and available when you have questions. He celebrated every little win with us! He was impossible to take a walk, we could not answer our front door, he terrorized the cats. The best thing about Dan is his method and approach. No prong collars, no harsh methods, no bark collars. He teaches you to "speak dog". He explained how dogs communicate with each other. He helped us understand Wally has anxiety from basically not having boundaries. His tools of choice are your "bark", a squirt bottle and baggie full of water. All gentle but so effective. We have had 3 sessions. The first was some basic commands and behavior corrections. They worked! I could answer my front door without him running out or just going crazy. The 2nd session we got potty training help. Wally had been doing well until our older dog got sick and had accidents. After that he only went in our house. We started using Dan's suggestions. The 3rd session was like magic and the skies opened giving us a new dog. We took Wally on a walk with Dan and he was a different dog. No lunging, no climbing up the leash or going berserk when he sees other dogs. Now he is a pleasure to walk-he heals, he minds us. Potty training is amazing. He has not gone in the house since the last session. Today I was in the yard with our cats. They have a fenced area. Normally Wally would be uncontrollable and trying to get to the cats. Today he just stood there when I corrected him. I cannot recommend Dan and Bark Busters enough. Gentle corrections, simple methods and immediate results. If you do what he says you get an amazing dog.

I gotta say too that the policy restrictions on quantity volume purchases as are currently in-place and that were described to me are NOT customer-centric. If the amount if product is unavailable for that day's in-Store purchase in the requested pack size, the damn POLICY should include the Store Managers having the decision flexibility to be creative on how to still honor a "fourth bag free" if they do not have the four bags in stock. And this is not a one-off either... it happens probably 25% of the times that I go in and it gets frustrating indeed. The root problem is they keep precious little floor-stock inventory "on the floor" AND they are completely inflexible in finding a creative solution there in-store. This is a problem of their own making, clearly promulgated by Corporate Bean Counters ensconced in "just in-time" product delivery resulting in minimal inventory at store-level. So, this situation happened again yesterday where they only had one bag and I wanted to "buy three and get the fourth one free". Phil started out telling all the "corporate reasons" why he was unable to help me, that it is corporate policy dontcha know..? After some lively negotiating and conversation, Phil took it upon himself to find a way to make it work. And whilst it did require me to return to the store today, I am very pleased that Phil very kindly went to the Pleasanton store and brought the additional three bags so I could get this " fourth bag free". Thank you VERY MUCH, Phil! While I KNOW your Corporate policies suck, YOU yourself came up with a way to help me even though it also meant you had to make an extra stop on your way in to work today to help me get my "fourth bag free". Please accept my gratitude, Phil! And also PLEASE change these un-customer-centric policies. As a retail outlet, it seems to me your Corporate Overlords SHOULD BE making sure that business is done both for profit but also for the CONVENIENCE of your customer base. Hearing "It is our policy that...." and then being told how I cannot be assisted is VERY off-putting. Thank you again, Phil. You came through for me and I am super-appreciative, young man!
