However, my girl has been used for service dog work and always with me. We got our second dog this year and they are great playmates at home as she's not needed to work unless I'm indoors.. We are traveling next March for baseball and trying to cover all bases. We will be staying at a dog friendly home, and saw a Camp Bow Wow in AZ a half mile from our stay. Thought it might be more fun for the dogs to go there then stay home 4-5 hours in a strange place so we should check out our local franchise. The staff here was amazing. Very lovely people and encounters with everyone we spoke with. One of the gals mentioned she brings her own fur baby sometimes and that says enough that she trusts the care and treatment here for her own family. So how did mine do? Well, I had my girl go in first. Our second pup has learned to follow her and thought that would be the best introduction for them as he always wants to go where she does. It doesn't help I just too her to the vet for the vaccines needed to visit and had her nails done and anal glands at the same time.. I think she felt the same stress coming here a couple days later. They said she tried to nip when they put her with other pups, but they let her calm down and relax a bit and then she went in and did just fine. Oddly our newest rescue that shakes at every new experience went in just fine.. again, he knew she was there already, so that went okay. I thank the team here for letting my pups destress and go in with the other. My boys dog looked like he was doing leaps and bounds with others on the doggie cam.. it's a bummer my girl just wanted to lay by the gate and wait 4 hours for me. She didn't cry or do anything bad, nor did Camp Bow Wow, she just wasn't thrilled to be there. I was my big bow get some pats and loves as he will run up for attention, but she didn't get any, and I watched the whole time she was gone (yes, It was a big deal for me too to be away from her).. Not sure if they aren't allowed to go up and pet or comfort dogs that are just laying in the corner, but it would be nice if the did. I will take them back a few more times here in Livermore and see how my girl does. I'm not sure he would do great there without her but might try that too as another option. I just appreciate the people here that didn't give up on letting my pups give doggy daycare a try.

The initial consultation went very well, and I learned so much about dog communication and how to better support Peaches. I also learned that she is a highly anxious dog, which explained many of the challenges I had been concerned about. We enrolled in Gary's six-week program and finished with the tools and knowledge needed to keep Peaches on the right track toward recovery. Just like humans, dogs rehabilitate at their own pace, and over those six weeks Peaches made significant progress. We're looking forward to enrolling in advanced training once she's ready so she can enjoy more freedom off-leash. Gary is not like other trainers we've worked with. He doesn't rely on obedience-based shortcuts or gimmicks. Instead, he teaches you how to work through real situations and explains the theory behind his approach so you truly understand what's happening and how to handle stressful moments. Most importantly, Gary teaches you how to become the focal point for your dog, which has made a lasting difference for us.

From day one, it was clear he knows his stuff and loves what he does. A lot of the time, Giorgi was too overwhelmed to participate. On day 1, Giorgi hid under a table the whole session. But that's ok because Gary was really training us. By the last session, Giorgi was walking around, watching other dogs and people walk by, and still listening to commands. Gary taught us how to help Giorgi feel safe, calm him down when he's stressed, and build trust. We've already seen such a difference at home. Gary is knowledgeable, patient, direct (in the best way), funny, and available when you have questions. He celebrated every little win with us! You can tell he truly cares about the dogs he works with. We still have more work to do, but thanks to Gary, we know how to keep moving forward. If you have a dog with anxiety or fear, seriously, go to Gary. He's the real deal.

One thing I especially appreciate is that he offers both indoor and outdoor training, since my dog, Oscar, behaves very differently outside with distractions around him. While he listens well indoors, my commands sometimes seem to go "in one ear and out the other" outside, and Adam really focuses on addressing those real-life challenges. I also have two dogs, and even though the training is primarily for Oscar, Adam has gladly provided helpful tips and guidance for my second dog as well. After each session, he sends detailed notes so I can continue practicing with Oscar throughout the week, which has been incredibly helpful. Adam is flexible, accommodating with scheduling, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. I recommend Pawsitive Interactions to anyone looking for a skilled and supportive dog trainer.

I adopted my dog,…read moreDoug, from a golden retriever rescue in March 2026, believing he was a golden retriever mix. From the very beginning, Dan gently pointed out that Doug might have more cattle dog in him, based on his markings and behavior. When the DNA test confirmed Dan was right, it gave me a whole new understanding of my sweet boy. Doug turned out to be a beautiful mix of cattle dog and other herding breeds, and that insight has made such a difference in helping me understand him better. Dan has been incredibly patient--not only with Doug, but with me too--as I've learned to recognize Doug's triggers, better understand his behavior, and figure out how to help him thrive. Dan's experience with stray and rescue dogs is extremely valuable. Doug is such a sweet dog, about 2 years old, with plenty of puppy energy still in him. He's affectionate, eager for attention, and wonderfully responsive to training. Dan has helped me learn how to channel Doug's energy in positive ways and appreciate just how smart and spirited he really is. Doug keeps me on my toes, and Dan has reminded me that patience and consistency are some of the greatest gifts I can give him. After just three in-home sessions with Dan, I've already seen such encouraging progress. Doug is doing beautifully--he's a star at the dog park, walks nicely on leash, and has learned to respect the boundaries I've set around attention and behavior. Things like digging up the backyard and jumping into my face have stopped, which has been such a relief. Dan's guidance has made a meaningful difference, and staying consistent with the lessons has been key to Doug's success. Dan's availability by phone or text is a game-changer as I don't have to wait until our next scheduled visit to get guidance if new, unexpected and undesirable behavior arises between visits. Next week marks Doug's and my three-month anniversary together, which feels both exciting and emotional. We still have more to learn, but I'm so proud of how far we've come already. I'm grateful for Dan's support and look forward to continuing this journey--helping Doug grow into the very best boy I know he can be.

What stands out most is that they don't just train the dog, they train us as owners. Owen's training approach emphasizes engagement, clarity, and building a strong foundation. He has a deep understanding of working-line dogs and knows how to channel their drive in a structured, productive way. Every exercise has purpose, and his focus on long-term reliability is exactly what we were looking for. Ellie's nutritional guidance has been incredibly reassuring during this growth phase. We also appreciated the education provided to us as dog owners, which has positively impacted our household in providing the best life for Kona. But I can tell my story and I hope that the management…read morerecognizes the staff who helped me that day, because they exhibited compassion, kindness, and truly supported my family and I when we worked to save 2 abused pups and afford them relief from horrid circumstances. We have shopped at Pet Food Express for at least 20 years. The Livermore location is our "go to" store. The person who has consistently helped me the most over the years is Linda. She is knowledgeable, offers informed opinions, is perpetually polite and positive, and she understands dogs. Fortunately, she still works part time there and I always look for her when I go and the reason I shop there for my many rescues. I spend a lot of time and money there. The long story short: I picked up two 8 month old siblings from Bakersfield from a foster situation who needed a new situation. I did not expect to find two filthy puppies, weak, dehydrated, emaciated, terrified, and covered with fleas and ticks. When I say ticks, I mean at least a thousand on each dog! I drove to Livermore as fast as I could to my usual Pet Food Express hoping to find Linda working. My luckiest day! She was there. My husband met me to help manage the situation. I bought 4 tokens, an excellent brand of flea/tick shampoo, and treats. I knew this was going to be stressful for the pups ( who never were exposed to anything new, were exhausted, and overwhelmed I'm sure). Without Linda's positivity, support, constant check ins for more towels/an extra hand/ encouragement, photo documentation, and communication I'm not sure we would have accomplished relieving those two pups of the misery they were in. I'm posting just a few photos so you can grasp the situation and I can tell you, not everyone is cut out to help abused dogs but Linda- she is a gift. The photos reflect just how many ticks were between their toes, in their ears, attached to the anus, between the pads, clustered all over these poor babies. We pulled dead ticks off for days ( my husband is a retired surgeon). I'm going back today for a second bath and to treat their bone dry fur and skin. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Linda. The manager, Phil, definitely supported Linda while she helped us. Not many businesses would do that except one committed to animal welfare and supporting their customers and staff. Thank you, Pet Food Express. Linda deserves Employee of the Year(s) and thank you for employing people like Phil. If you read this, look for Linda and recognize her when you stop by the store. Her rescue German shepherd dog is posted on one of the banners outside the store (R.I.P.). She an amazing human.
