Stepped in on 10/11/24 to see if my mobile order was ready after I have placed it on 10/10/24 - currently still in process on the app. During my lunch break I drove to Petco to see if it's ready and if the system didn't update as it is being 24 hours. Typically I go to Long Hawaii Kai and within couple hours it's ready. I walked in, stood on the checkout line to ask for my mobile order. About 5 minutes later it was my turn. Before I even walked to the representative to show my phone order he immediately responded by saying that the mobile order line is on the next aisle. I told him that there was no one there. He responded by saying, "well, someone will be there." And he just proceed. After I moved to the empty aisle next to the check out line, more than half the people standing in line followed. Couple minutes passed and a gentleman name Pat came and said, "what you want?" I told him my situation and he looked through his mobile phone to see about my order. He then said, "I don't see it here. You need to call customer service at 800." I asked him if there was a reason why.? He just kept saying call 800. I then asked him if I can just get my orders here and I can deal with my mobile order later. He practically just stood there and said, "call the 800 number. I have no time to help you. We're doing inventory right now." He then walked me over to the register closest to the exit door and gave me a piece of paper with the number to call (it's not even 800, it's 877) and said, "if you want to complain call this number. Rolled his eyes and walked away. (I was taken a back on how rude he was. He didn't care about customer service. He didn't even try to help.) When I was about to leave a staff member name Robin spoke to me. She apologize in their behalf about what had happened. She said she was listening to the whole situation and knows for a fact that he was really rude about how he handled the situation. She said that she was on lunch break but would gladly help me find what I needed. She said, "trust me, I wouldn't mind helping you right now even on my lunch break. It'll only take a couple minutes. Pat is our general manager here and he should have at least help you out and not put this "inventory day" a big deal. I mean we do inventory on Sundays. I don't know why he chose that before customers." I thanked her for being so helpful and concern to my situation but declined the offer since I didn't want to take her lunch break. Never buy fish from here!! I bought a total of 8 Tetras and they all died 1 by 1 within 24 hours of bringing them home. Mind you, I went straight home from the pet store and I live 5 mins away. Grooming. Treats. Low cost vaccinations. Just a few of the main reasons I visit this particular Petco on Beretania. Huge shout out to Gia in Grooming! She has been my dog's groomer since Day 1, which has been about 20 months now. Bringing in an energetic 65lb Lab mix can be quite the challenge. But Gia has such a calming nature about her presence, it's contagious. My fur baby, Makana, suddenly changes her demeanor, drops down to the floor for tummy rubs and kisses, then heads on back for her spa day! So, about every 6-8 weeks she's scheduled for a full service bath, dry, deshedding treatment, and nails cut & buffed, which takes approximately 1-hr depending on how busy it is. Deshedding is a MUST and I can always tell the difference! When Makana was just 6 months old, we stopped in for the free puppy playtime. Still a little timid, it was her chance to socialize off-leash with other fur babies having various personalities. She was a good girl and loved it, but since she was one of the more taller and heavier dogs, other humans were not so confident she could be gentle. But trust me, she was gentle! Oahu SPCA operates the low cost vaccination clinic at Petco offering vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea/tick treatments. Ask the store for a schedule since the visits are on rotation with other Petco locations. Be sure to sign up as Petco Pals Rewards member. Get 5% back by earning 1 point for every $1 spent. This is my go to store for my pet cat, Mister Buttfurs (my hobo cat I've semi befriended). I love that the company has switched over to healthier more nutritious food options for our beloved pets. Nothing artificial: no artificial preservatives, no artificial colors, no artificial flavor; etc. And they're affordable as well! No I am not sponsored, haha. I feel better knowing the cat food options I buy are filled with vitamins, minerals, real ingredients, and are grain free. I've seen legit improvements in the way his fur coat looks and he's more active as well. I like that the packaging of the food is aesthetic as well. I really like this because I can buy a variety and let him try the food out to see if he likes it before I commit to buying a bigger size. They are alliance to Hawaii Humane Society meaning, HHS has kennels housing cats hopeful for an adoption. They have a grooming salon (for those who have dogs) The toy and accessory inventory is constantly turning. Seasonal toys are put into a clearance sale bin after the event has passed; Accessories are also put into a clearance bin once a set period of time has passed. They have a great selection of pet food; many that you can't find at a regular drug store or supermarket. The staff is friendly and courteous and they are also animal lovers. They could answer almost any simple question you have about the welfare of your furry friend. The best thing I learned recently is PetCo will match their website pricing to the pricing in any store. I honestly don't go to Petco a lot. I'm more of a but local at the small shops for my normal things like food. But petco does have strengths in their selection of items not typically carried by small shops. My dog is getting old and I guess having minor mobility issues at 8 years old. Petco has a pretty nice selection when it comes to health items. I picked up a glucosamine supplement for early development of arthritis. Got a new harness too that allows more freedom of movement. But service I usually friendly and helpful. It's always great to add an extra 15 minutes to your trip to say hi to all the animals. I mean I'd go in just for that. read more

Went to Petco to get my puppy's first grooming. I chose Petco because of its grooming packages and more specifically for a particular groomer who went out of their way to greet me without me asking someone to talk to the groomer about their programs and packages. In addition, on the day of my puppy's first grooming, the groomer was so nice and warm towards my puppy as my puppy was a bit nervous. For a puppy's first grooming it took about 3.5 hrs so be prepared to find other things to do during that wait. They needed the time to familiarize the puppy to the groomers and the equipment. I did the bath, haircut, and a separate package for my puppy. After the grooming my puppy enjoyed her experience and looked and smelt so good. We frequent Petco quite often. Most times, I can find what I am looking for myself. I usually order online and do curbside, but I stopped because they don't answer their phones for curbside. I always end up having to go into the store to hunt an employee down just so I can pick up my order. The only reason I order things online is because you get a discount if you spend a certain amount. This location is short handed and busy quite often so your order may not be ready fast. Also, the online inventory isn't accurate. There have been numerous times when my orders have been cancelled because the items were not in stock. Also, since they take forever to prepare the order, there's a good chance someone might pick up the last item before they get to it. That's what happened today. I ended up going to the store after noticing that they cancelled my order via their app. They didn't email me or anything to notify me that they cancelled my order. Had I not looked at the app, I would've still been waiting. Anyways, I went to the store to see what they had and they had more options for the item I was looking for than what was listed online. The items were pricier than the item I wanted, but at that point, I needed it and I did not have a choice. All locations on Oahu were out of stock. Gave four stars since it's not their fault they are often short staffed. The bottom line is online ordering and pick up is a hit or miss. I have been coming to this location to get my 9 lb Maltese mix groomed for about 8 months and have always been satisfied with the service until now! Apparently, a new manager came into pet grooming and decided to add a $15 charge to the basic price of bath with haircut for all groom orders regardless of pet or size. I was not notified about this extra charge before hand and expected to pay my usual price $44 plus tip bringing my total to about $50. Upon pick up, I get my ticket to pay and pick up my dog and there is a $15 charge for "shave, brush out, scissor LG" in my receipt. I ask my pet stylist Lyndsey "what's up with this new charge I didn't request this?" Her response was that it was a "new addition" that the manager began adding to ALL pet grooming tickets about a month ago. Of course manger was no where in sight to inquire. Keep in mind my dog is 9lbs and maybe has 2 inches of hair all around when not groomed so grooming her is pretty easy. I know, I've done it before with clippers. I paid anyway, not wanting to cause a scene realizing this was not Lyndsey's fault, but apparently others have complained about the new mystery charge too, because the cashier knew exactly what was going on. I'm pretty upset about this new mystery charge and will likely be finding another grooming salon for my dog just because I didn't like how the charge was added as mandatory extra without letting clients know. All in all, with tip I ended up spending $65 on a cut that I have always spent $50 on. I also think the new manager mandated charge is not fair to to pet stylists who now have to explain to clients why they are being charged $15 more than usual. hope it doesn't affect their tip money but I'm sure it already has. However, there's debris falling from the roof all over the products that we're suppose use to feed and care for our pets. I come to petco for almost everything! Well, except for good that is. It seems like the food here is more expensive than other places, but I hear they do brice matching with their online prices. Unfortunately, my dog isn't able to eat any types of foods anymore and she's strictly on a science diet formula especially for kidney stones. I've also had the opportunity to do puppy training classes there. We did two levels with Cassie. She knew she was up for a challenge with my dog, but she eventually became teachers pet. She graduated and even got a cute goodie bag. Nala had so much fun there doing her obstacle courses and Cassie seems to hypnotize her cause she listens to her like no tomorrow. I've also used the grooming section at petco. Mainly to cut her nails. They even go as far as painting them too!! So fun! I had them paint her nails pink for her birthday. She was the most stylish dog in the store after that. Don't forget to sign up for their pals card. Points also expire if there's no activity on there either. I learned the hard way. Stay away from the BERETANIA St location. The worst customer service I've ever experienced at a Petco. I usually go to the HAWAII KAI one, which has SUPERB customer service. Unfortunately, they were completely booked. Went to the Beretania location 20 minutes earlier than my appointment, which i always do at Hawaii Kai Petco, and they're always happy to check me in. My go-to pet store. Whenever I needed to buy toys, food, or other necessities for my cat or friends' pets, I come here. I love the selection and variety of products, as well as the friendly staff. When I first got my cat, a friend recommended Petco as they have a good return policy. They know how picky animals can be with food, so they let you return opened bags of food. I haven't tested the policy myself since my cat isn't a picky eater. Before my cat, I would come to Petco to look at the cats and dogs available...often times there were cats from the Humane Society at the store just waiting for their forever home. I love to look at them and read their bios. When I was looking to adopt, I would try to play with them to see who would be my match. So we asked an associate in store about their price match policy and he told us yes they price match to their website. So I looked up a price for an item, PETCO WEBSITE showed $5.47 (regular price online was $19.99 but it didn't say sale), regular price in store was $24.99. Manager had to override at the register but said the lowest they could go was $7.50. So they wouldn't even price match to their own website. Maybe it had something to do with the sale price online but if I can buy it for that $5.47 price on their website for pickup at the same location we were at then why couldn't we get an exact price match at the register? It's so hard to give this Petco any less than 5 stars due to the sheer amount of tail wagging that occurs every time we get out of the car. No, I'm not talking about me! Our furson loves this place. The store is large, well lit, and always kept clean. Even the smell is nice! The grooming area is simple and efficient, wait times are never long. Service is always done professionally; we have never been disappointed. All the staff clearly love animals and their jobs. People just seem happier here, although not as thrilled as the pups. So many smells! So many new friends! Prices are high, yes, but that's the cost of owning a pet. It's hard to complain about unnecessary expenses, and once you have a little furball in your life, who cares about the cost of happiness? They have an excellent selection of toys! These can be some of the most overpriced, so keep an eye out for sales and specials. The treats are what's really special, so many options. I love the dog tag machine, lots of options for the tag and fun to watch it print. Checkout is usually a snap, as they keep lots of registers open so everything goes quickly. I prefer to shop local, but in all fairness, I have to give these guys 4 stars. Can't beat them for their selection of dog paraphernalia. They've got everything you could ever imagine for your pooch - toys, food (high quality, not Purina), treats, kennels, carriers, leashes/collars, stain/odor remover, puppy pads, shampoo, etc. They also offer grooming (although I saw a really sad story on the news about a dog who got its ear cut off and the employee tried to glue it back on) and obedience classes. Not sure how good the classes are but at least they are offered. They also host weekly adoption events so that Hawaii's homeless cats and dogs have a second chance at being loved. Their prices are a little on the high side, but your furry friends are worth the splurge, right? read more

Bought a fish here. Took it home and it died, then every other fish in my tank died within two weeks. I bought 2 other fish here and put them in a different tank. Both those fish died too, but at least they didn't kill off the rest of the fish. Don't buy fish here. read more

I paid $15 to get my dog's nails trimmed and filed. It took less than 10 minutes and his nails were short and perfectly rounded. I am so thankful that he didn't have any nails that were cut too deep. No bloody paws = 5 stars in my book! I really appreciate Petco installing glass doors and windows in their grooming salon. This allows me to watch my dog's "manicure." The gal who was servicing my dog took great care to speak kindly to him, give him encouraging words and praise him for good behavior. I was also pleasantly surprised to see how she introduced the nail cutter and the dremel file to my dog so he wouldn't be terrified of the process. Her expertise and genuine love of dogs shined through and my dog did not put up a fight or bark or anything. Once the manicure was over, the gal brought out my dog and complimented him for his good behavior. I also love how the store is so neat, clean and organized. Ample Parking, too. Right when you walk in, someone says hello to you and asks if they can help you find anything. read more
