Oh gosh where do I begin? The short story is Pounce has my 3 felines this weekend.... I picked them up yesterday.... after a 4 night 5 star feline hotel visit. Here is my story: I usually have my cats under control at home or cat boarding at my veterinarian's location when I travel. but shucks! I wasn't lucky this past weekend. The other side of the coin is I was lucky because I found Pounce. A couple points 1. a walking distance to my office 2. pricing comparable to what my vet would charge 3. please environment for my felines 4. easy drop off easy pick up 5. daily follow up with pics of my felines from Pounce 6. comprehensive schedule of their stay; to and including when they use the bathroom... go figure! 7. they can/will administer meds if need be (one of my girls has asthma) My felines while happy to return home with me were treated with kindness and care. I will always go to Pounce from now on. Now then, the facility- clean, climate and air controlled facilities. I went to the Queen Street location and parking was easy. Right in front. You will need to call them when you get there. The doors are closed (for obvious reasons) and one of the gals will come out to get you. Same process on the way out! They have your fur babies all packed up and ready to go. Call them and they will wheel them out to your car!!! Sadly, I won't be boarding my felines at my vet any more as I'm so pleased with Pounce. Imagine! My own vet who cares for my fur babies want to charge you all sorts of things to board. Forget that; especially since my felines were not strangers to the vet clinic. But now! my felines are no longer strangers to Pounce. A definite must try if you have felines to board! read more

Most fabulous cat groomers in town. This time I Took my cats there for a quick nail trim $25 nice and easy, super quick. I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes for two cats. But, you must schedule ahead of time and have your flea treatments up to date. read more

I have boarded my cat, Pebbles, at Pounce Hawaii several times for 1- to 2-weeks at a time. Most recently, I had to board her for 8 MONTHS (!) due to noisy construction at my condo residence that really frightened her. The staff at Pounce took EXCELLENT care of her, as usual. I decided to board her in a room with a window, since it was long-term, and the staff thoughtfully chose a suite near the grooming area so Pebbles would have a lot of stimulation and things going on to watch. The staff played with her daily, brushed her, gave her treats, and sent me numerous photos/videos. There is no other place on Oahu to board your cat except Pounce Hawaiʻi. read more

My Fiancé and I had an amazing experience. Please take the time to read, so it may help you decide to visit this great place. We scheduled a day before via their website. It does require you to pay as you book your appointment. Which is no big deal. There is an option to add a small baggie of treat or catnip to your visit. Totally up to you. They are also very clear on their rules when visiting their cat/kitty lounge. Literally less than an hour later of scheduling, I missed a call from Pounce, Sophie left a voicemail letting us know that they had only 2 kittens left in their facility(As I was booking, there had been about 5/6), and if we wanted to keep or reschedule. Which was extremely appreciated, because we wanted options. I meant to call them back...but it slipped my mind. So I decided to call early the day of the appointment. Day of appointment...it slipped my mind again to call. But, THANKFULLY, we received a call from Sophie and she informed us that one of the two kittens might be adopted. She suggested that we come in the following Friday/ Sat. We were able to reschedule on that very call. Day of the rescheduled appointment., We were running behind. But gave them a quick call to let them know we were going to be 10 minutes late, which is fine. But do keep in mind you have a time limit. The kitties need rest before the next appointment. At arrival, we called them so they could let us in. Sophie was there and helped set us up with the cat lounge. Btw, you need socks to enter the lounge area. Be prepared! But if you are not, you may purchase from them. We were also offered complimentary drinks, such as water, tea or coffee. We were left alone with the kittens. The facility was bright and colorful. There were lot of toys for you to use to play with the kittens. The room was also pretty spacious. Lots of space for the kittens to run around. We were unbothered as we got to interact with the kittens and learn more about their personalities. Towards the end of our reserved time, the staff asked if we had any questions or interest in any of the kittens. Out of the kittens we played with, one kitten stood out the most. Only because he came to us at the VERY last minute, wanting pets from both my Fiancé and I...at the same time. He won our hearts. The adoption process was fairly easy and took about 10 minutes. You do go over the health history of the kitten, waivers, and payment. You have the option to purchase accessories and necessities for the kitty. They have food, litter, toys and collars. We bought catnip spray. Best thing ever! They also give you a pet "taxi" box to bring your new furry family member back home. We went about a year ago from this review. We will definitely be returning when we are ready to add another kitty to the family. 5 stars for the experience and another 5 stars for introducing us to our loving Bucky! read more

We were not looking to adopt a cat today, we just wanted to play with them. I was quite impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. They had 15 cats, all available for adoption. They make the process fun and easy. The staff is super helpful and check in with information about each cat to help you make a thoughtful choice. They also have a boarding facility which we will be trying out next week. I love that the boarded cats each have their own private room, with a window view, rather than being in stacked cages. I recently adopted a 10-month old cat from the Humane Society and wanted to have her professionally groomed. The website and photos of Pounce Hawai'i made me feel like it's a great place to bring her for a spa treatment. The communication with the staff was easy via texts and we were able to get an appointment set up quickly. On the day of the appointment, both Luna and I were nervous about how this would turn out. My home was scheduled to be fumigated. That in itself is a real nightmare, but I had to find lodging for 18 cats (7 pet &11 fosters). I scheduled to drop them off at Pounce the day before fumigation to make the process less stressful on the cats & me. I gave myself 3 hours prior to check-in time to gather them. Four hours later, I still didn't have all of them crated and I was a hot, frustrated, bloody, on the verge of tears MESS!!!! I unfortunately discovered that some of the fosters were still a bit feral. I gathered whatever cats I had in carriers and drove to Pounce on Cooke Street. I was not a happy person, but as soon as Dee & Robert arrived at my car, they took over and assured me that everything would be alright and that I could bring in the other cats later that day or tomorrow. They were awesome! I didn't go into the hotel, but as they opened their door to take in my cats, the smell of lavender came out of the room. It was lovely. My fur babies stayed there for 3 nights. Dee gave me updates and sent photos. They were extremely patient with my cats, even the fosters. Boarding 18 cats is not cheap, but I included it in the budget way in advance and it was definitely worth it. The entire staff is very professional but down to earth. I will without a doubt board my cats there again and will definitely encourage people to use them when boarding their cats is needed. read more

I interviewed with a staff member before making a reservation, and they were impressive. They said that they have veterinary tech experience and all staff LOVE cats. I was reassured that they could handle my sassy cat. The cat rooms were nice, with outside windows and a "bird cart" to amuse the cats. I upgraded before dropping off my cat for daily picture updates. I only received one update during my 5-day stay. (I left a voice message and an email asking for the daily updates with no reply) Upon picking up my cat, I felt they were happy to see her leave. She wasn't charmed by any staff cat whisperers. As they had confidently assured me would happen. I also went in with an item that wasn't returned. When questioned about it. They were curt and didn't seem concerned to locate or return it. They know how to speak with customers to make a good impression, but after my visit, I wouldn't use their services again or recommend them. My experience was likely a one-off, but I wouldn't risk leaving my fur baby at Pounce with what I've seen. read more

I have two cats and one of the scruffier of the two, came back looking younger after his full spa treatment. I had my house tented and I had a broken knee so couldn't easily wrestle them into the awkward new carriers so a lovely concierge arrived to come to the rescue. With gale force winds, the tenting was postponed so they had to spend an entire week there. Great communication after working through their initial paperwork and having my vet verify updated medical. Both are about 10 years old and have always had a sitter come stay at my home so thrilled to find this service and will take advantage when I go on a trip. Staff very friendly and professional. I came here with the intention to adopt and I think this is a really great way to get a feel for which cat is right for you. I found Pounce Hawaii via Google search. It looked good, clean, cute cats and rooms. Boarded our cat in May 2022 for 4 nights but had to leave her for 5 nights because they have strict drop off and pick up times. Our flight arrived back home at 12:25 pm on the 4th day but they wouldn't allow us to pick her up until the next morning and charged us for that night. Picked her up the next morning and noticed they had over charged us which they recognized after I brought it to their attention. We paid in advance, in full, then charged us again when we picked her up! During the trip they charged us $10 to send us a picture of her, $10 per photo!!! When we picked her up she ended up meowing non-stop for almost 3 days straight and didn't come out of her room. It was so bad we ended up calling the vet. We have boarded her before multiple times at The Cat's Meow Inn in Kailua and she's never acted like this when she got home! They were our first choice but due to a family emergency they were not available. We've recently traveled and boarded our cat back at The Cat's Meow Inn for 4 nights and no issues with her when she got home. Plus I receive a photo of her everyday, with no extra charge. The cost at Pounce Hi is almost double than what we pay at The Cat's Meow Inn!! I won't board her again at Pounce as it was a very traumatic experience for her. For one thing, their attitude. I put in to adopt and was told that I needed to purchase a ticket on line. Also, was told that if I adopt the cat I wanted, I needed to adopt its sibling. There have been a few times I went out of town and needed to put up my cat Hugo in a pet hotel. Hugo is a 10 year old cat. He is a sweet cuddly kitty if he likes you but he can also be a grumpy old man. He loves the girls at Pounce. They are both kind and friendly and seem to work well with him. It's always super stressful for an animal being out of their own home and in a strange place. But the girls at Pounce make sure he is as comfortable as he can be, and they even check in with me to let me know how he's doing. They send text updates, and even will call and send you photos of your pet if you request it. I love this. It really goes to show how much they not only care about your pet, but also you as the owner. The rooms the cats stay in are clean and spacious enough for a temporary stay. Easy to book online and someone will call you to confirm the drop off/pickup time. Make sure your pet is up to date in their shots/vaccines. Pounce is a wonderful establishment. It was spotless inside and out. I'm not kidding when I say this is the cleanest cat lounge I have ever been to in my life. The cats are very relaxed and happy. The have both kittens and adults. The cats are also very clean, and well taken care of. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any questions you have. They take safe measures for Covid. And safety for the cats as well, such as no foot wear in the cat lounge and socks required so no one's 'toe beans' get squished. (It's all the attention to detail that really got me) They are a cat hotel, so if you need someone to watch your fur baby while you're away or having work done to your home they can accommodate you. Pounce also offers spa/grooming services. Inside the shop they feature cat toys, treats, odd and ends that are produced by independent local artists and are just so adorable. So happy a place like Pounce Hawaii exists because I think we found Kitty's home away from home! There's not very many places that board cats on Oahu, and I hated the thought of Kitty being stuck in a kennel at a vet for almost a week. Glad to have found a place where she not only could have a nice and exceptionally clean space to herself, but she would also be taken care of by people who would give her lots of love and attention. My husband and I looked forward to receiving photos of our fur baby via text each day we were away. It was a small additional fee, but we were fine with it. They offer many add-ons during the booking process. We also opted in for a nail trim which was great! When we got Kitty back, I swear she smelled so pretty - like she was just lightly spritzed with strawberry maybe? I have no clue, but I kept smelling her because she smelled so good! Or maybe I just missed her too much. She was also sent home with the scratch board she was provided in her room and a photo gift which is hanging on our fridge at the moment. The highlight of her stay, for me, was when I got the text that Kitty was "bird watching"!! There was literally a huge bird cage wheeled in the hall for the cats to see... as a cat mom, this made me laugh out loud! The crazy things people do for pets. I love it! Will definitely be booking with Pounce Hawaii in the future. Erin was great throughout the process and I have enough confidence that their establishment is well run with care. Definitely recommend Pounce Hawaii to anyone looking to boarding their cat. At the last minute (literally days before) I was in a bind and frantically searching for a place for my cat. Although we had just had her check up and shots 3 weeks prior only to find out that our regular place required other tests & only a certain brand of medication. We tried to get it done but only to be told she had to go thru a complete physical with them when we just had one. Our vet said it should not be needed based on what she already did. Lo and behold our Vet referred us to Pounce (just days prior), and relieved me of my stress. Pounce is the ONLY place I trust with my cat. The ladies are true cat enthusiasts and will always do right by every cat. My cat has had about three weeks total at pounce and adjusts very well. She's a needy girl so I do add the extra playtime and the pictures for myself. The texts are cute and tell me how she's doing, which means a lot when I'm away. The spaces are adorable, due to COVID I don't have pictures. They did walk me around the space the first visit. I love that they have birds & fish for the cats entertainment (not within reach of course). She walked away with a new scratcher, which is her favorite too. We found out about Pounce from the website of Humane Society. So after spending a day at the cat cafe and couldn't decide which cat to take home, we went straight to Pounce. When we arrived we saw at least 10 energetic kittens running towards the window to greet us. That moment I just had a feeling one of them would be going home with us. We didn't make reservation for that day and walk-ins not accepted due to limited capacity so we had to go back the next day with a reservation. The cat lounge was soooo beautiful. And with those 20 kittens running around? It was like heaven to me! (Yes I'm a crazy cat lady) Those kittens were so playful and not scared of strangers. A few of them even climbed onto my legs and back. The experience was a little different from that of the cat cafe. Cat cafe had more adult cats so they were not as energetic and interactive with guests (but don't get me wrong I love all of my furry friends I have a senior cat at home meow) but if you are looking to adopt kittens you will love Pounce. I swear I felt like only 10 minutes have passed when I looked at the clock and realized the hour was almost up. Erin was so nice and gave us extra time since we had a hard time making the decision again. At the end we picked a black kitten Teah! After signing some paperwork she went home with us. It was a quick process. Erin also gave us info on loca vets and a free first bath coupon! Pounce is on Queens street and it has a few parking spots at storefront. Don't forget to make appointment. $20/ hour per person and only 4 people are allowed for each time slot. It's also a cage-free cat hotel and each cat has its own room. The rooms are spacious, spotless and full of cat toys. I'll definitely board my cats there when I travel in the future. read more

When I say that my cat is my baby, I mean it. So when my family needed to find a place to board her and her siblings while we tented our house, it caused me so much anxiety! (A little background about our 4 fur babies, all of them are rescues, and 3 of them are siblings and extremely skittish/nervous because of their upbringing. It took us a few years to get them comfortable and out of their shells. Our other fur baby is about 12 and very grumpy, but people friendly.) My family and I were so worried that our 3 younger cats would end up in a place where they would be in a tiny kennel all day, and come home more nervous and shy than they already are. Enter Pounce! The two owners were so amazing and kind, listening to all of our concerns, and being so accommodating to our needs. The best part was that our babies wouldn't be confined to a kennel, they would be able to have a whole room to themselves! We ended up getting the brand new presidential suite for our 3 younger kitties, and the executive suite for our old grumpy girl because she likes her space lol! Throughout the whole stay, the owners were so kind and responsive, sending pictures and videos. We could tell that our babies were being well taken care of! They were also super understanding and respectful of the shy nature of our kitties, peeking into the room to check on them to make sure they were doing okay. Pounce was seriously the best choice we could have ever made, and my family and I couldn't be more grateful. We highly recommend if you have shy lil rescue kitties like us! Our babies came home safe, happy, and completely back to their normal selves (the only difference is that our old kitty definitely wants to go back because she loved having her own room so much hahaha ). This review is only for the Queens location. A week of boarding and my cat came back to me with Horner's syndrome and an ear infection. Vet thinks it is possible that aggressive ear cleaning led to an ear infection and facial nerve damage. He is not eating too well and I still have to take him to the vet again. I also realized that the bag that held my cat's meds and food came back with holes in them, and the food bag also had holes and bite marks. The food bag and the bag that held the food are my property and should be kept away from any cat, and yet both came back with holes and bite marks..My cat had no issues at the other location so this was very unexpected, I guess they don't follow the same procedures or standards, even though they are under the same company name. I was planning to adopt a cat, but didn't have a clear idea. Then I saw Pounce Hawaii on the website and I really liked the pictures of the cats so I decided to check it out on my day off. When I first walked into Pounce Hawaii, I thought it was a very comfortable environment. I met Sunny there and he was next to me when I first met him, rubbing his body against me and rubbing his head against my hand. The rest of the time, he just sat next to me and watched me. I was instantly captured by him. The day after I brought him home, he came at me every time I called his name. Jumping up and down in the room. Exploring every part of the room. We visited Pounce Hawaii on Monday, November 20 to play with the kittens available for adoption. It was a wonderful experience to interact with the kittens in an intimate setting. All of the kittens are clearly well taken care of and seemed very happy to have company. We had a hard time making a selection, but went home with two sweet kittens who have fit right in with our family. I applaud the Hawaiian Humane Society for expanding their adoption locations through places like Pounce Hawaii. The staff person who assisted us with the adoptions was very professional and thoroughly reviewed each kitten's medical status with us. The Queen Street location was very convenient and has free parking attached to the building. I would definitely recommend Pounce Hawaii to anyone looking to adopt or board a kitten or cat! read more

If you are looking for the absolute best place to keep your cats while you're away (or in our case, while your house is a hot mess and under construction), this place is it. They took our cats in last minute, and even took our cats to a vet to get the vaccines needed for them to stay at the hotel. It was so convenient and helpful considering we were already stressed out with the construction and didn't have time to bring them to get vaccines. They sent daily updates and photos of the cats, and were flexible when we had to change the check out date multiple times. They were always super sweet, incredibly thoughtful, and quick to respond. They definitely gave our cats just as much (if not more) attention than we give them. Our cats were so happy and relaxed (although why wouldn't they be when they're literally at the Four Seasons for cats) and we will definitely be going back whenever we need them again! read more

I've been on the hunt for the longest time to find a cat grooming service on island. I found it super difficult to bathe my cat on my own, let alone cut his hair. During my time, researching different cat grooming services, Pounce Hawaii was one of the only few to pop up. The attention to detail, professionalism, and cat knowledge was relieving to read on their website that ranged from the various services of haircuts, boarding, prepping before the appointment, etc. Boretta explained everything clearly and left me feeling comfortable with dropping off my cat to his haircut and bath appointment for the first time. When picking up my cat, he was so soft and smelled so good from the time I received him to a couple days after his initial appointment! He's been so content with his haircut and is happily laying on his bed, enjoying the summer breeze! If you are looking for a trustworthy and caring cat grooming company, search no longer! Pounce Hawaii has gained my trust and respect for all that they've done to work with my cat and make him as comfortable as possible. I look forward to scheduling another appointment in the future! Located on Queen Street near Waikiki Brewing Company, Pounce Hawaii is a fantastic resource in the Kaka'ako area for your kitties! They offer salon services, cat lounge to visit adoptable cats and kittens, and cat boarding if you are traveling. I reached out via Yelp to check to see if they do cat nail trims (online, it had said it was only available if you book a cat bath package). Lo and behold, Boretta one of the owners, responded back that they do offer and to give them a call to book. Yay! TIP: follow them on Instagram! They post a lot about adoptable cats and kittens, as well as any changes to their hours and services. They even ran a promotion for 50% off spa purchases. I did my cat nail trim and pre-paid for the 50% off bath packages for my two cats (which will include nail trims). Such a great deal! Boretta is professional and friendly. When I came to pick up my cats, she talked to me a little about how she was not able to trim one of my cat's nails because it was growing back. My naughty cat was probably playing and snagged it on something. Loved her attention to detail and honesty. I also found that they have a good relationship with Alii Animal Pet Hospital down the road. This is great because my cats are patients there, so that relationship makes me feel even more comfortable bringing them here. Can't wait to bring my cats back for their baths next month.
