THE BEST KEPT SECRET DAYCARE AND BOARDING FOR SMALL DOGS!!!…read more I have to admit, I've been selfishly gatekeeping this place because it is hands down, THE BEST daycare and boarding on the island and I didn't want my baby's spot to be taken up...sorry Aunty Carly! I know a lot of my fellow VIPaws pet parents are also keeping this place on the hush for the same reason. However, since I'm moving soon, I had to do right by its wonderful owner, Carly, and give her the recognition she deserves. I've tried almost every daycare and boarding here, as my fur baby is our child and we want the very best for him. It was good to see what each place had to offer but let me tell you, you will not find another place that comes close to VIPaws. This is "the Punahou" of daycares. They specialize in only taking small dogs 25 lbs and under, which is perfect since our baby is fearful of larger dogs. The sign up process is organized and thorough, taking everything into account. We could tell she was on it and well prepared to care for him whenever we were away. This really put my mind at ease. All her policies/pricing are laid out and upfront so there's no surprises. If you don't read, that's on you. Their reservation based setup makes it easy to drop off/pick up. I've been to places without this and had to wait a while to pick up my dog since there was no reserved time. At VIPaws, I book a set time to drop off/pick up my pup so I can be on my way. I appreciate that! Carly does a tour of the setup on the first day and we were impressed by how clean and secure her home was. Multiple enclosures to ensure your dog's safety, lots of room to run and play, and comfy and clean with no smells at all. The energy there felt so calm and positive. All the pups looked so cute and happy! We love that they're very selective with the dogs they agree to take in, not letting any of the riff raff in. It's like an exclusive private school! She's strict but very loving and we appreciated that vs many other places where they let dogs run wild, pee everywhere, bark their heads off, etc. Not only can your dog pick up bad habits but it also really stressed my baby out. This was a welcomed change of environment. We could tell from the tour that this was going to be an amazing experience for our pup. VIPaws took excellent care of my baby every time he joined them for daycare/sleepovers. He can be a little nervous being away from us but it didn't take long for his nervous shakes to turn into tail wags. He would do excited tippy taps whenever we made the turn to her home, ecstatic about where he was about to go. He never did this for any of the other places we've tried! We ended up enrolling him in regular daycares because he would pout and get depressed when he didn't get to go. From a dog that had separation anxiety to this, there was no denying how much he loved it there. At VIPaws, we really felt that he was more than just a number. She took the time to really get to know him and knew things about his personality, likes/dislikes and quirks that even my own Mom didn't know about him. We could tell he truly felt comfortable, willing to show her his true self and thriving in the environment they create. The level of care and commitment they take for each dog is outstanding. In a short period of time, we could tell from his consistent daycare that he was not only loving his time there, but becoming a better behaved pup. Our baby learned manners and started coming home more balanced and well-behaved. Before VIPaws, he would get leash reactive on our neighborhood walks but since joining VIPaws, he got rid of that behavior right before our eyes...we were amazed! And she doesn't even charge for training, which in my opinion is a steal!! With everything you get, her prices are incredibly fair! We loved her insights shared via daily text message/pics. He always looked so happy! She is extremely knowledgeable and her advice helped us to be the best parents. I loved her honesty, letting us know the good with the bad. It was helpful to know areas we could improve on and got us excited when those improvements started coming to life. We would much rather have that than the generic "he did great" responses we got from several other places we've tried. With VIPaws, I could trust they'd tell me the truth on how my dog really was doing. VIPaws not only helped us care for our dog when we were away but also helped transform him into a confident, social, well balanced canine citizen. I've been out sick from work for the last 2 days but still able to take them on morning walks. They seem more calm and are not aggressive whenever we pass or are approaching other dogs. In fact they don't react at all when other dogs start barking or lunging towards our direction. When we are home there is no tension like we used to have. I have to remind myself to get up and correct them when they're overly barking at the mailman or people walking past the house. The entire household, humans and animals seem to be more at peace and relaxed , it's very nice. Thank you again.

So I was looking for a pet boarding for ten days in the month of May 2026. We live in town and…read morewe're looking for someplace for our fur-baby, 3yo German shepherd terrier mix, to stay while we were gone. We were looking for a reputable place who would care for our pet as if she was home. Someplace she would feel safe since we know she has anxiety issues and is really shy around strangers and may be aggressive if provoked. We tried leaving her with family, but because of her temperament, they suggested a boarding care. She is great with their dog, but they too were looking for boarding for their pet. And because they go to a pet daycare weekly, they were sending their pet to their favorite pet daycare. So while I was searching a came across Happy Puppy Kingdom. The website and instagram pages showed doggies having fun and their prices were reasonable and their care packages were affordable. We made contact through Yelp and on to our introductory appointment. We also were able to provide Kamalani's vaccine records. As certain vaccines must be given in order to book the appointment's "meet and greet". The Owner, Sophia, was so caring, gentle, and loving towards Kama. She talked to her and built a trust for us and Kama. So we started to take Kama for weekly visits starting in January 2026. We knew Kama was going to be reluctant to go because she hasn't been around other dogs a lot and only family & family pets, and knew getting her used to HPK may take a while. As the months went by she started to know which days she got to go visit "her friends". We literally asked the day before if she wanted to "see your friends!"" And she would get so excited. Jumping up, wagging her tail, looking around for Miss Sophia. And when I'd drop her off she can't wait to get out of the car. In April we did the first overnight, and it was hard, for us. Constantly looking at the clock, expecting her to greet us at the door, and her hugs and kisses...nothing!! But she did great!! HPK said she didn't eat the food we provided, so they gave her their homemade food & she really enjoyed it. So when the days came for us to leave we knew Kama was in great care with HPK. We got pictures and videos of Kama when we were away. And it turned out, our in-laws also sent their 7yo hybrid poodle, Mochi, there too. And they said Kama protected her when she was scared. When we came to pick them up they were so happy to see us!! We know Happy Puppy Kingdom took such great care of our fur-babies and that this is a loving and caring place to leave them if we ever plan another trip. Sophia reassured us and gained our trust & Kama loves her too!!!

I found Happy Puppy Kingdom through Google and was immediately drawn to the fact that they specialize in smaller dogs. I also appreciated that Sophia requires an assessment before accepting new dogs. When I brought my dog in for his assessment several months ago, he was quite nervous. Sophia was incredibly kind, patient, and understanding as he adjusted to the facility. She kept me updated with photos and videos as he gradually inspected the facility and settled in. Now my dog absolutely loves his weekly visits to Happy Puppy Kingdom. I brought him for daycare once a week for three to four months, which helped build his confidence and familiarity with the staff and environment. When the time finally came for his first overnight stay, he had a fantastic experience. I cannot thank Sophia and her team enough for keeping my baby safe, happy, and well cared for while I was away. I learned so much about my dogs just from the original assessment. I now take my dogs there for day care, grooming and boarding. The dogs were reactive to other dogs before I started taking them and the socialization with other dogs and handlers has helped them so much. Now they are protective, not reactive, which is what I want. All the staff are wonderful and make the transfer easy and most importantly the dogs jump in the car to go and are happy when we get there. One of my dogs I had to manhandle to get in the car previously. Thats not easy with a muscled 45 pound dog!

Kehau came out to meet him before boarding him and seeing how she interacted with him right off the bat eased any apprehension I had about leaving him. She made him comfortable very quickly and listening to commands shortly after. A huge plus was that she both picked up from and dropped him off at home when we got back. That made our trip just so much easier. On top of that, he was listening to commands much more than when he left! Oh, and getting pics of him on our trip was the cherry on top. Will definitely be bringing him back to her whenever we need to go on a trip. Hope to have him have a playdate with her soon too.

The Vet, Dr Pang, had poor bedside manner. Came in already dismissive of my complaints for my dog. She wasn't prepared when she came in the room. As if she didn't know why I was there. Said she couldn't examine my dogs nostrils because my dog is excited and keeps moving. Said we needed to sedate my dog. Didn't have any light or anything to look at my dogs nose. Some questions/comments she made that were annoying: "Are you sure she's five months old, she seems older cause she's big" "How did you look in your dogs nose?" "She's not sneezing now" "She seems to be breathing normal" (her first time meeting my dog, doesn't know my dog is not a mouth breather) "Did you hear reverse sneezing" (as if i know what that is) I had to get on the floor to help hold my dog so she would look at both nostrils or try to with a light. Also theres an exam table not sure why we're on the floor. She offered very little info into what she thought was going on with my dog. Only discussed further when i kept asking questions. She prescribed a steroid taper but on the bottle the instructions were incorrect did not indicate a taper. Did not appreciate her bedside manner and lack of trying to look at my dog for the issue i brought her in for. Then as i was leaving i got blocked in to the small parking lot by an employee that parked her truck with the bed blocking the way out. That employee came out and saw me unable to leave but waited till i asked her to move the truck to move it. Gets two stars because of the front staff.
