This is our fur child's 2nd home. The staff are caring and attentive and we trust them to care for our baby boiiii...and it's been almost 5 years!

The staff at Pets in the City are friendly and get along well with the dogs. It's a smaller play area that the dogs are in so Pets in the City is selective about taking smaller dogs that play well with others and ensure the dogs go out on walks to burn off excess energy. Dogs can come in for half days (4 hours), a full day (open 6 am - 6 pm), or board overnight. They have packages for regulars and pay as you go. If you are interested in sending your pet to Pets in the City, you need to make an appointment to have your dog evaluated first and provide a copy of his/her uodated medical records. Once your pet is approved, Pets in the City is very accommodating of drop ins.

My sister recommended Pets in the City for daycare for my puppy.    when I went to pick up my pup, I was told that he was injured, assuming it was with another dog. No one had called me to let me know my pup hurt his left eye. Also, I was informed that no one witnessed his injury but they heard him crying so they then checked on him.  I took my pup to the veterinarian today, and he was prescribed pain, antibiotics, and steroid medications. In their terms and conditions they clearly state they are not liable for any injuries that occur on the premises....there should be an addendum that states they are not liable to show empathy or concern if any injuries occur during your pet's stay. The owner was notified of the incident by her staff but did not reach out to me to inquire about my puppy's wellbeing. I updated her staff on his condition and even sent pictures of his injuries. Still no response from the daycare owner Ashley...I am disheartened and disappointed by her silence and lack of compassion for my pup.  I have decided to no longer take my pup to daycare there. To current or future dog owners who are considering taking your pets to Pets in the City, please be aware that there are at times only two dog handlers (attendees) caring/watching up to almost thirty dogs. And, small, medium, and large-sized dogs are in daycare together. I'm glad that my puppy is getting better and is still happy.

I learned so much about my dogs just from the original assessment. I now take my dogs there for day care, grooming and boarding. The dogs were reactive to other dogs before I started taking them and the socialization with other dogs and handlers has helped them so much. Now they are protective, not reactive, which is what I want. All the staff are wonderful and make the transfer easy and most importantly the dogs jump in the car to go and are happy when we get there. One of my dogs I had to manhandle to get in the car previously. Thats not easy with a muscled 45 pound dog!

Here is my story: I usually have my cats under control at home or cat boarding at my veterinarian's location when I travel. but shucks! I wasn't lucky this past weekend. The other side of the coin is I was lucky because I found Pounce. A couple points 1. a walking distance to my office 2. pricing comparable to what my vet would charge 3. please environment for my felines 4. easy drop off easy pick up 5. daily follow up with pics of my felines from Pounce 6. comprehensive schedule of their stay; to and including when they use the bathroom... go figure! 7. they can/will administer meds if need be (one of my girls has asthma) My felines while happy to return home with me were treated with kindness and care. I will always go to Pounce from now on. Now then, the facility- clean, climate and air controlled facilities. I went to the Queen Street location and parking was easy. Right in front. You will need to call them when you get there. The doors are closed (for obvious reasons) and one of the gals will come out to get you. Same process on the way out! They have your fur babies all packed up and ready to go. Call them and they will wheel them out to your car!!! Sadly, I won't be boarding my felines at my vet any more as I'm so pleased with Pounce. Imagine! My own vet who cares for my fur babies want to charge you all sorts of things to board. Forget that; especially since my felines were not strangers to the vet clinic. But now! my felines are no longer strangers to Pounce. A definite must try if you have felines to board!

The staff here is excellent and very caring for the dogs. I feel bad since Kiyo is an attention hoar and they always have to pick him up when he gets needy. They have cameras that you let peek in on your doggie. Separate areas for large dogs and small dogs. Haven't tried grooming or boarding but can say the day care is great and price is right - around 35 for 4 hours and 45 for 8 hours. If you live in Kakaako- they are awesome!

They evaluated him for 4 hours and I watched on their webcam to see how he was doing with the small dogs. I think that's a very cool feature. However, I would see him getting sprayed with a water bottle from one of the workers when he was getting close to another dog. Well, I didn't know that was something they do and caught me off guard when I saw it. Didn't know if that was a normal daycare practice? I was really taken back by it, though... wish I would've known ahead of time. Later on, I could see that he was placed in the corner blocked off from other dogs with a gate surrounding him. I figured he must have done something wrong so he was in a timeout. When I picked him up, they told me he didn't pass the evaluation because he was humping another dog. It wasn't nice to hear that your dog didn't fit in but I respect their policy. This place is definitely busy so I'm sure they don't need to have new clients. I was able to see the big room to get the attention of a worker when I was leaving and heard some screaming and yelling at the dogs. It's pretty chaotic when the dogs start barking and there's a lot of them in the rooms. Also note that the chemical smell is extremely strong in here. Im not sure if their ventilation is adequate for the amount of chemicals they are using. I found a different daycare that fits him really well and he's happy so it really depends on the place. Don't be disappointed if your dog doesn't pass this place.

We just had a short trip outerisland, but couldn't bring our fir babies. Usually the parents or a friend can watch out pups, but not this time around. We called around and found it very challenging, almost like sending a toddler to daycare for the first time, they need vet records and a company to vouch that your pup isn't crazy and dangerous to others. We called these folks and they were very friendly and made it as easier to request vet records and willing to do trial run overnight to see how our dogs would do. We drove down and it's a little confusing to find, but basically aim for Salz Lock and Safe, pull into their parking and continue to the chain link fence and you'll see it mountain side. We met the couple that takes care of the fur babies. They were very welcoming and most importantly our dogs sixth sense accepted them right away. Their tails kept wagging, which made us feel better. Our dogs actually shake when we go to the vet and tail down, between the legs. We provided food for the morning, leashes and harness and that's it. They recommended not bring the beds because other dogs might mark them, since it's not a kennel environment. They can walk freely in the rooms and act like they do at home. We left them overnight and we're ready for a phone call, but no complaints came. Then in the morning we went to pick them up. On arrival the couple were still their smiling with our pups. Our dogs seemed happy with their tails wagging. They reported back to us how the dogs did and everything went well. I would recommend Barks and Purrs, because they genuinely seem to care for our dogs. Our dogs were happy and we felt safe to have them watched there.

Can't ask for a better location, just drop off your baby, and you can access the highway nearby heading either east or west. Richard is fantastic, very knowledgeable and he has such a way with animals. My little pupster gets super excited when we get there and now when I say "doggie daycare" he starts running around in circles and heads to the car, ready to go. He always looks forward to going to visit Richard and his furry friends. He comes home absolutely wore out. He wolfs down his dinner and then sprawls out on the floor to sleep. Richard is flexible with scheduling and very responsive and communicative. They also offer bathing services on site which you can avail yourself to while your fur baby stays in their care. I send my pup 2 days a week so that he gets much needed socialization and I get peace of mind knowing he's in capable hands.
