Aloha Dog is my fur baby's home away from home!!! My dog was raised during Covid when I was working from home. Wanted to give him the opportunity to socialize with other dogs so enrolled him in Aloha Dog. Cried the first time we dropped him off but the friendly staff, live video feed on social media, and doggy birthday parties convinced us that this was just the place for him. I tried to book an appointment and it was the strangest experience. My dog had been here once to see a groomer named Hae. When I called today to rebook with her, they told me that she had quit. I said I was fine with seeing anybody else but I guess nobody is accepting new clients. They called back to say that somebody was accepting new clients but because their next appointment isn't until July, they didn't want to do it because my dog would be too matted. I then told them that I have him groomed every week and petco (just a brush and bath) and I brush him myself regularly. They still refused to take him. Save yourself the trouble and don't call. This all could have been avoided with a polite "I apologize but your groomer no longer works here and the rest of our groomers are no longer accepting new clients." read more

Brought in our 8 lb Pomeranian 3 times. First 2 appointments were fine. Better than petco but nothing to really to note anything extra. They do a good job. Couldn't decide between 3 to 4 stars. This place was recommended to us by our neighbor and was told they were good with troubled dogs but the 3rd time we got the boot lol. On our dog's 3rd visit, I got a call 2 hours into the grooming that our dog didn't want to get groomed that day lol when we went to pick her up, they were only able to bath her, no cut. Theb they told us they won't be able to take her anymore :( They were really polite about it so I appreciate that. So if you have a trouble dog (no matter how small), this place is not for you. read more

I gave this place 2 stars because the front desk girl (the Asian one with the blonde hair and cut bob) was really sweet and nice. We tried this place because they had good reviews AND it's like a 5-10 minute drive from our condo in kakaako. My one year old Pomeranian needed a cut and we decided to take her here. The groomer was nice, although I could barely understand her and it was so loud in there with all the dogs barking. She cut our baby's fur the way we wanted it... not too short on the body, keep the tail trimmed, and can cut around her face shorter. She did just that. Our baby looked so cute. I loved it... initially. Fast forward to about 20 minutes after we got home. I was looking at our dog... her left eye seems to be smaller in appearance. It looked like she was struggling to keep her left side eye open. After further examination, we saw that her left eye was swollen. IT WAS NOT SWOLLEN WHEN WE DROPPED HER OFF. It is noticeably irritated and looks a bit sore for her. We are going to take her to the vet tomorrow to find out EXACTLY WHY it is like that. I recall the groomer mentioning something about our dogs eye being dry. I know I asked her 3 times to repeat herself because I couldn't understand what she was saying and because it was a bit loud in there. I'm thinking she (the groomer) either cut her eye, or she was wiping our dogs eye so roughly that it severely scratched her eye and made it extremely agitated. I'm not sure how I feel about this place. As of right now, I do NOT recommend bringing your fur baby here UNLESS you KNOW the person who is grooming your dog. I have a one year old pup that I am trying to find a nice quality groomer for. I tried aloha dog for the first time in YEARS and sad to say I was disappointed. When I first arrived outside they all just stared at me as if they didn't know they were taking a grooming that morning. Someone finally came out to welcome me and consult with me. I told them I wanted a round puppy face and trim his hair about an inch. When I came to pick him up, I automatically pointed out several things wrong with his cut. First of all, I was shocked that they were done in an hour. And yes, it looked like a one hour job. They didn't listen to me at all when it came to his face. You can see the buzzer lines down parts of his body and straight up from his chest to the chin (no round face like I asked) instead, he has pointy cheeks now. Basically, uneven buzzing and not the round face that I asked for. Seemed like a $50 rushed job. I also noticed his paw pads were SUPER red and irritated (picture doesn't do it justice). My dog is a shih Tsu maltese and he is a super calm loveable dog so he's not hard to groom and haven't had any complaints with past groomers. I've had shih Tsu/lasa ahpsos my whole life so I do know a good cut from a bad one and notice all the details. I'm very disappointed with the quality and work from this salon. they lost a potential customer. I wish I read some of these reviews before I went in. read more

I've gotten my puppy Maxwell groomed here twice. I don't remember the name of the lady who trimmed him the first time, but this time Gio gave my doggy a great summer puppy cut. Each time has been a great experience and my dog is always so relaxed with his tail wagging when I pick him up! This is only Maxwell's 2nd time at the professional groomer but Aloha Dog always somehow keeps him calm. I ask for the haircut, anal trim, ear cleaning, paw shaving, and nail trim. I have a very tiny dog (4lb chihuahua shih tzu mix) and I was worried at first because he does not like strangers... but every time Aloha Dog tells me Maxwell did a great job. Stay away from this inhuman doggie daycare. Purchased a doggie daycare package of 10 before the lockdown used once. The whole state went into stay home order. After everything open I called and ask about my ticket thinking they will honor. I spoke to them very nicely the lady called me back after speaking to the owner left a message to say the tickets only valid for 3 or 4 months. I was try to explain how special this situation was. After 5 hours later the owner called and say okay they will let me use the tickets. Like they're doing me a favor. We have been going there for daycare for 3 years. I was disgusted by the way they do business during difficult times. I personally don't think they care about my dog. By going there for 3 years my dog is not excited to check in there. I normally take Kobe to a different groomers closer to my home however, they were booked out 2 weeks. A girlfriend of mine took her dog to Aloha Dog and her dog had an adorable grooming so I thought I'd try it. I mistakenly parked in the lot next door but no one complained. Now I know that you can pull right up front. When you walk in they do doggy day care so there was a bunch of dogs in there. I only noticed when I picked up Kobe a dog that kept on barking. I told myself it would drive me crazy like Chinese water torture if I had to hear that barking all day. Anyway, Kobe was really happy when I picked him up and the groomer said he did really well and stared in her eyes the entire time. I got 20% off for our first time grooming plus another 10% off for the next time if I booked his next appointment within 8 weeks. Done! If Kobe's happy, I'm happy and he really liked his groomer so I reserved her for next time. I also read in other reviews that if you go through the evaluation then 2 hours after full grooming is free for the day care side. This is helpful if you are running late. Just like finding a good veterinarian, when you find a good groomer, you stick with them. Manami and her staff continue to provide excellent doggie day care and grooming for our precious little pomeranian-papillon. There weren't as many dogs in the daycare area 5 years ago, but that just means that more people are bringing their dogs to Aloha Dog for daycare or grooming because of word of mouth or good reviews. We've even left our dog overnight when we went to Aulani for a weekend and our dog was wagging her tail when we picked her up. There's a large picture window at front of door where owners peek in when picking up their precious pups. It's so funny to watch all the dogs turn towards the window and start barking. But when your dog sees you at the window, she hops and spins around and gets excited knowing that you're there to pick her up. Keep up the good work, Aloha Dog! But recently the last time I took my dog to get fully groomed, she was cut way too short and got clipper burned; which caused me to have to take her to the vet for skin treatment. I took my Westie to Aloha Dog for grooming for the first time today. Not only was it 20% off, but the groomers did an amazing job! My West Highland Terrier looks absolutely amazing. I brought her in brown and looking something like the swamp creature, she came back to me less than an hour and a half later white and with silky smooth hair! My dog starts pawing at the windows when he realizes where we are. He LOVES Aloha Dog. He is almost one year old right now so has tons of puppy energy which he's allowed to let out in this safe space with endless amounts of friends. The workers are so caring. Sometimes my Kenny is TOO excited to eat, so one of the workers hand fed him, thinking that's how he's fed at home (he's not-he's no princess). I know he can be rascal because he's so young and energetic but they handle him really well. He's pooped by the time I bring him home. They do an initial 2 hour observation where they make sure the dogs are not aggressive, territorial, etc. And they let you know if your dog has passed evaluation. Prices are extremely reasonable. I usually get the 10 day pass for 280. I drop him off at 7:15 and pick him up around 4-5pm. Money well spent and I LOVE seeing pictures of him playing with all his friends throughout the day. read more

Because of Covid19- Ollie, our little Maltese, was badly in need of a thorough grooming. We've been coming here for grooming and boarding regularly for years but due to social isolation concerns, it had been over three months since his last appointment. Aloha Dog to the rescue! We took our dog to day care at Aloha Dog a number of times and finally decided to stop sending our dog there. I received a voicemail saying that our dog played in feces and was given grooming services. This was the second time I received this type of message. My dog very well could have been playing in feces, which may require cleaning to keep the other dogs clean but the way they handled the situation was very poor. When I finally had the time to call and find out more, I asked the girl who answered the phone whether it was our dog's feces or another dog's. She asked her coworker, who replied "we don't know." They sensed where I was getting at and the girl quickly replied it was our dog's and that we had to pay for grooming. I told her I heard what her coworker responded. She tried to cover it up by saying another other coworker said that it my dog's. If that coworker saw it, why didn't they clean it up before this happened? I pay for day care so that my dog is being taken care of. If they leave dog feces laying around for dogs to play in, this shouldn't be the owners responsibility to pay for grooming services. In the end, they decided to not let us pay for it but that is not the point. It is not good to lie to a customer, especially when the customer can hear the response. read more

My son (8 pound Bichon Mix) loves this place. This is the only place where my son actually gets excited to go to. You should see his face when he is near the building. So I use this place as a special treat for my son. The staff is great, the other dogs are very friendly, and the place smells clean. Other places smell like urine or a mix of urine and chlorine. Grooming: Great prices and up-to-date styles. I've been to other groomers in the island, and I feel that they are the very best in what they do. This is the only place where my son gets groomed and is excited to go back to. The other places, my son will cry and pull away from the door. I never thought I would be this much of a yuppie, but when my four-legged child needed to be out of the house for a few hours, I started researching doggy day care. I called three places and decided to check out Aloha Dog because the person that answered the phone was friendly and asked me questions about my dog. Because my fur-child was not so used to socializing, they asked that I bring her in to be checked out by the staff. The staff was very friendly and seemed very familiar with dogs in general. They recommended that I drop her off for about an hour a few days before her day care visit. Her visit was ok - she was a bit nervous and timid, but I think the staff did everything to make my fur-child comfortable from actually keeping her a bit isolated from the other dogs for a little while, and then introducing them slowly to each other. It seemed like they were concerned with the dogs' well-being, and there were several people on hand to help with the handful of dogs. The place was clean, did not smell like there were multiple pets on site, and they have the cutest furniture and stuff that dogs can run around, over, etc. The cost is very very reasonable for daycare so if you're working long hours, this might be an option for your doggy. Best thing was that my dog was so tired from hanging with the other dogs that she actually fell asleep in her crate on my drive home - she never does that! Parking is in the back and a bit of a pain. I would highly recommend and will definitely take my dog there again. The dogs they doggy-sit are all very horribly cute - and it's funny to see the one GSD puppy amongst the westies, bichons, malteses, and the corgis. read more

I've tried a few grooming places and noticed that my bichon puppy always seemed a little fearful of them. My pup never gets that freaked out look anymore since I started taking him to Aloha Dog for grooming...he always comes back from his appointments smelling/looking great and most importantly, happy. They also have wonderful daycare/boarding services. I recently took a trip and boarded my pup for a week, and their staff posts pictures on Facebook throughout the day so you can check on your dog. I love how the Aloha Dog staff actually interacts with the dogs (unlike other places I've tried where the only human contact the dogs get is when someone comes in to clean up a potty accident) - at Aloha Dog your pup gets tooth brushing, toys, hugs and cuddles from the folks who work there. I just picked up my Samoyed Sage from Aloha Dogs and couldn't be happier. I gave them a dog with red saliva stains and red dirt dust and they gave me back my white dog! Mari even cleaned between her puppy paw pads. She looks great, smells salon clean (yup, put my nose in her fur and gave a good sniff), & no longer has nappy hair! Here I am writing another review of this wonderful place. My beagle stayed over 2 nights for CAGE FREE boarding. Needless to say she didn't want to even come to me at first. The owner and all the workers are so nice and they really care about all the dogs. Just a tip if you're planning to have your doggie stay there for boarding....they require you to have your dog groomed or at least shampooed while there. They just take extra precaution to ensure that your dog is clean and free of fleas/ticks. So its comforting to know that all the dogs that stay there are checked thoroughly too and your doggie won't come home with any unwanted friends. LOVE Aloha Dog! read more

I couldn't believe how quiet it was when we walked in. All the dogs came up to the window to see who we were, but no one barked!! It was darling to see them all playing and happy. I bought a lei for my mother-in-law's dog by "lei woof". The best gift ever!! It is darling on her--and if you go to the web-site, you'll see more cute pictures. I think I want to work here.
