My 11 month old puppy got a basic spa service today at Johnny's Dog Spa. Johnny Dog spa is located inside Ward center. The space is big and the staff are friendly. The basic Spa service took around two hours, they kept my puppy for an extra hour free of charge while me and my husband had lunch. When I picked up my puppy, he was fresh and clean. This was our first time taking our two small dogs into a place that does hair cut, nails, shampoo/conditioner - I usually do it myself at home but I'm currently pregnant and the task is too much for me - thank God we went here! The employees working here were so nice! For the record, my one dog loves people, she wants to say hi to everyone so we weren't worried about her - but our other dog is a very sweet, gentle, doesn't like everyone, only wants to be around mommy kind of dog so we were nervous about taking her somewhere like this. I was absolutely amazed (when the lady cutting and taking care of our dog with anxiety) that I got to see my dog try to give her kisses! She rarely ever does that but you could tell these employees were calm and patient with the pups. It's not easy grooming dogs - I believe it's hard work especially to give them hair cuts that look good for all different types of breeds, then you have a huge range of personalities for dogs and it can be a stressful environment for the dogs but honestly this was the exact opposite. Our dogs looked like they'd had a good time and they looked beautiful when we picked them up! I was so surprised that they even took photos of our dogs on a background with flowers, it looks like professional photography and is just so cute! I think we paid $150 for the two dogs which was hair cut, bath, nail trim, anal glands, plus photos, me not having to do the work, and just overall really grateful and pleased we did this. I never expected a doggy spa in this building! I love how the location is convenient and has accessible parking which is a must. What I love even more about them is that they're open on Saturdays and when you work M-F, your weekends really be for errands and appointments. Pretty straightforward when it comes to scheduling your fur baby and really sweet staff! The price is pretty reasonable especially since I have a pomeranian (which mean lots of fur yikes) They call you when everything is all pau and will text you a picture of them posed in their seasonal decorations. The only thing about that is they tend to forget to send me a picture so I would have to call them as a reminder but other than that, best believe Luffy and I will be coming back as regulars! read more

Such a great grooming place! I am guilty as charged, I have never taken my dog to a groomers.. I always have just done it myself... and I have a Siberian Husky. It's just too expensive for me to pay someone to do it. However, I'm at the stage where.... "The New Johnny's House" The Johnny's House Dog Salon which was located on Kaheka street near Don Quixote Kapiolani closed at the end of 2020. They have come back new and improved as Johnny's Dog Spa in a much larger and upgraded area in the Ward Village Complex close to Goma Tei Ramen shop. They are now offering more services such as a spa treatment for dogs now. The waiting area for the dogs includes a spacious play area where there are individual comfy chairs for your favorite pooch. They do seem to be geared for smaller dogs, although I'm sure larger ones are probably groomed. Our pooch went in for grooming in early June and we are pleased with the summer cut she received. Same great grooming as when the old business was located on Kaheka. Prices are higher than before but still competitive. Our dog also received a fashion bow on her visit. They also take pics of your pooch in front of a display that the owner uses to reflect the time of the year your furry friend came in to be groomed. It's these types of nice touches and the great grooming job that makes Johnny's a favorite for us. read more

This was the first time taking my 3 year old Maltese to the groomer and WOW! They did an amazing job! The receptionist and groomers are all very kind and knowledgeable. They have a sheet that shows the different lengths you can select and let them know which one you would like for your pup. I selected the 1/4" for his body and told them to clean up his face but leave his legs fluffy. They nailed it! It took about 2 hours for the full groom (wash, dry, and cut). They also express the anal glands and cut their nails during the full groom. You can add on teeth brushing for an additional cost. I believe it's $10. The open concept layout is great so that you can see the groomers working the entire time and they have a lounge area for the dogs to hang in when they're waiting to get picked up. After the service, they send you a text with pictures post-groom and dress up/stage them with a backdrop depending on the season and thank you for your business. Amazing all around. We were really excited to stumble across Johnny's in Ward Warehouse! The receptionist at the front was so knowledgeable and helpful, she kindly answered all our questions as we brought in our dog who isn't quite yet a year old yet. Our dog is wire haired and as a puppy we were concerned about cutting too much off too soon before he's an adult. The groomers did an AMAZING job of following what we asked for and when we picked him up he was super happy - not worked up or distraught like how many other younger dogs get in unfamiliar environments like this. Our 8-months Pomeranian Miso has been to Johnny's for 4 times, they make the grooming easy for me as the owner and "painless" for my fir-baby. She always wagging her tail when coming to the shop, and she loves to give the friendly receptionist a lot of kisses. The spa looks clean, spacious and open, you can see your pup through the window. The groomer works efficiently and she gets the work done nicely each time. We always receive photos after each appointment and we loved all of them. Just moved to Honolulu and saw this place while I was walking around Ward Center. First thing I noticed is that they allow you to see your dog getting groomed. From bath to haircut, you can watch their process, which is hard to find but super important when getting your pet groomed. Second, everyone is super knowledge and extremely friendly when preparing for a pup's first time using their grooming services. Third, they did an amazing job at cutting my pups hair while also letting me in on the process at choosing how I want him to look. Their prices are affordable and well worth the job that they do. I can see keeping a dog in a restraint collar while they're being groomed... but to keep dogs, who are waiting for their appointment, in restraint collars, is just cruel. The restraint collar is similar to a leash that is attached around the dog's neck then tied to a pole overhead. This place has a play area so why not let them run around while they're waiting? All groomers were with other dogs. The ungroomed, waiting dogs, were not even able to fully lie down. They couldn't put their heads down because of the restraint collar. Why put a dog in a restraint for longer than they need to be? Once they begin their grooming, it will be another two to three hours, being in restraints. Such blatant disregard for a dog's well-being is an indicator that they view the dogs as just a way to make a buck. At least they have a big window so you can watch your dogs being groomed/mistreated. Please don't bring your dogs here unless they change these cruel practices. If you are the owner, please educate your staff, that this is not okay. read more

How hard is it to find a place to host a dog party INDOORS? Pretty impossible in Hawaii right? I thought this place could have been perfect. I reached out on a Sunday requesting a dog party for my small dog and a few of his friends. I had not heard from them in a few days so decided to call on Wednesday and the lady answered saying someone can respond to me that Friday via e-mail (Not sure what the dilemma was that it could not be answered on the phone considering the email I got was short and basically NO). I waited and mind you it was nearly a week later from inquiring for such a disappointing response. Apparently they cannot accommodate a dog who does not get groomed by their salon and oddly they do not host parties on weekends. They're closed on Sunday so that just leaves Saturday. So, the day people can spend the most time with their dog and friends is unavailable. For a convenient spot in the middle of town that has such a large dog community, it is beyond disappointing. Also their website does not state it is only exclusive to their customers. It's a DOG. Haha regardless, have a blessed day. Lose money. read more
