    Scratch feed

I remember City Feed on Beretania Street from when I was in preschool. Yes, I remember that far back, for some things. This is one of them. City Feed used to sell live chicks. My mom would walk me over after school at Olivet Baptist Preschool so I could look at the chicks. I hadn't been there in years, and they have since done away with the live chicks. I pass by the store all the time and it makes me happy that they are still there and thriving. In the last 6 months, my companines have become parents to a chicken and more recently, a rooster. I called City Feed to inquire on Scratch Feed. They still sell 5 lbs. of feed in doubled paper bags. Larger sizes are available. Parking is, well, there really isn't any. The space fronting the store is a loading zone, which also doubles as a "grab-n-go" stall. It's actually really great, if you are purchasing huge bags of food. Not a far distance from store to car. As long as the fowl continue to live with us, City Feed will have me coming back.

He's awesome! The shop owner is so helpful. I didn't know what I needed when I first started coming here. I just walked in and asked what's good to use for cat litter. I heard that some kind of pellets are ideal. He immediately said yes I got you covered! He came out with a huge bag of pine pellets. His recommendation was spot on. I haven't used anything else since. It's been over a year now that I've been coming. I can lift the bag easy, but he'll always carry it out for me to my car. He's very sweet. Parking is easy. You just pull up right in front of the shop in the loading area. You're in and out real quick. Business hours: closed Sunday and Wednesday. Open from 9-430pm. Close at 2pm Saturdays.

The guy in the front is really nice, and helpful. Parking was hard to find. I ended up parking across Times super market. Then walked to City Feed and seen that a car was parked infront of the store. We were in and out pretty quick thanks to the help of the employer. We'll come back for sure.

This place has the best prices hands down. I looked up this store and it had nothing but raving reviews. I went in about 10 minutes after opening time and I was not disappointed. The owner (I believe his name is Kyle) is very nice. He carries high quality cat, dog, guinea pig, and rabbit food. He also carries feed for birds. If you have a grazing animal such as a rabbit or guinea pig, I highly recommend getting your hay from here. City Feed's hay is home grown, fresh, and very affordable. Stop paying ridiculous prices at pet stores for brand name hay that is made in the mainland US. Come here for a small or big bag of hay, you will definitely get your moneys worth. I spoke with one of the customers who is also the owner's long-time friend and he said Kyle has a lot of regulars due to his high quality products. There is also the shop cat. He's HUGE! He's adorable and camera shy lol. There is a family-like atmosphere about this place. I feel like I'm not just a customer here. When your in town, drop by City Feed.

Small feed store focusing on the essentials. Cash only! Friendly owner who helps with loading feed. (I wish they sold hay)

I think it's a bit less species variety overall than maybe the fish shops in Kalihi and the aquarium concepts shop nearby in mapunapuna, but a bit more selection of fancy guppies at the same time. The big-brain flower horns, discus, some display tanks, and axolotls were a cool surprise. Some of the resident loaches were huge, especially the albino dojo near the front! Too bad I forgot to take a photo. That thing must be like a foot long and a decade old, and maybe as thick around as a portuguese sausage. Huge hump of fatty muscle along its back. I'd been wanting to check this place out! It definitely is a little cramped and cluttered looking inside and the smell is a little strong, but not too bad. There was a long-gone hollow goldfish staring at the sky, that gave me small-kine jump scare when I squat down to look at a tank. It was just randomly drying out at the bottom of a bucket in the aisles, which was, uh... anyways. I wanted to know more about an unlabeled and unpriced freshwater plant that somewhat resembles seaweed, so the buff dude grabbed a handful to show to the cashier lady at the front. The buff dude was attentive and personable throughout my visit, and did his best to answer questions about the fish, which I appreciated. The cashier lady though, she mumbled a name but I don't think she knew the plant that well and didn't write it down either. What she was somehow very sure about was the price, lol... just plainly stated the price for a clump is $7.99, though the tank of plants above it were organized in much neater clumps, and advertised at $5.99 each. Not only that, she had to step down from the cashier box to get her hands wet, and manually separate the handful of plant that the man grabbed. Started as a healthy, natural looking clump that would fit nicely in an 8 oz container, and she tore it in half. So, now it's small enough that it fits in the palm of your hand! Did she think to wash her hands first after handling cash and coins all morning? Nahh... But she was very insistent to him that he was definitely (and arbitrarily) holding two clumps, not one! She knew I wanted to buy it, and I'd already got a few pricier fish in my cart, so I guess she felt I could afford to cough up an extra few bucks. Yeah can, just don't think that I don't notice the grubbing... Business goes on as usual. I needed to get on with my errands that morning and eh, the shop has some local mom-and-pop vibes so I gave it a pass.

She was very friendly and helpful, told her what the tank was for and what I was kinda looking for and she showed me some options. She then took me to her computer and showed me the dimensions of the tank I was looking at( just to make sure it'll fit on my stand at home) I called them back when I measured it and she told me she would have her boss call me and send me an invoice for the tank. Fast forward bought the tank and told them I'd pick it up the next day after work. Come that day to pick up my tank Ryan (the manager) helped me. I told him I wanted a good quality filter so I wouldn't have to really maintain it all the time. He was veryyyyy helpful and knowledge!! He gave me a few options of the filters, the best ones and the ones that he wouldn't recommend for my fish.He also gave me pointers on how to keep my axolotl cold. (They can only be in cold water) bought the filter (oase filtosmart thermo 200) he recommended and Ryan actually showed us how it works and how to set it up. $500 later, we had the whole set up. Even though it was pricy, I rather pay for the good quality things cuz who wants to keep wasting money on cheap/ meh quality. We tried setting it up when we got home and for some reason the water wasn't going through the tubes. I called pet depot and George offered to FaceTime us to see where we were wrong and walk us through the steps. 15 minutes later the filter worked and my axolotl couldn't be any happier! I truly want to thank all these people for their TRUE Customer service. I honestly haven't been this blown away with this kind of customer service in a really looong time. They went FAR and BEYOND just for us. They gave us their honest opinion and went that extra mile face timing us!! I still can't believe it! Thank youuu soooooo much for alllll the help!! Very much appreciated it! So anyone that needs any pet supplies pls go to this store! 10000%% worth it!
