We took our dog here for a grooming on 11/12/22 and he came back looking like they did a hatchet job. They didn't charge us, just said at one point he started getting aggressive so they stopped. He's been to over 30 groomings and that had never happened before. Later, my wife noticed he had a nasty 4 inch abrasion on his underside on and near his sensitive male region. I called the store about this later, and the woman in the department did not take responsibility in the slightest or apologize, although at one point she offered me free cream to apply to the sore. Not ... really what I was looking for. I very much don't suggest taking your dog here for a grooming. Maybe a bris, but even then I'd spend a little extra for a professional. read more

Kristan is the best for trimming Kitty's nails. She's very careful and professional. Give her a try. You won't be disappointed.

Realized that the dog dental treatments that I have been buying have been mischarged. My two most recent purchases were for Whimzees. They were on sale for 14.99--regularly 17.99. I didn't realize with the first of these two purchases, but I did with the second. I was charged sales tax for the original price on both of these purchases. Trying to rectify my overpayments has been to no avail. I even approached Corporate, (they hung up.) My family has shopped at Petco for more years than I can remember. I moved into my current house in 1965. We have had pets since that time. Have no idea how many times I may have been overcharged for items during the past years. Very unhappy with the store/company response. At least I have alternatives. Check the percentage of your sales tax! read more

I have been to 4 of the Petco locations for grooming both of Walnut Creek san Ramon and concord I can honestly say that concord Petco grooming staff is the absolute best. I have 2 locations closer to home but they don't come close to concords Petco. If you can ask for Bridgette she is amazing very loving with animals always has a great attitude! Eric is also great! And everyone els there for that matter. My pups always come home happy and i know I can trust everyone in grooming to take the best care of them. No other petco comes close to this location! read more

I was here yesterday for my dog's grooming and when I presented my vaccination card I was turned down by an employee name marc because he thinks that the vaccination card has expired even though it clearly says the date that the dog was vaccinated he wasn't even trying to read the whole information in the paper. FYI Marc the expiration date that you are reading is the lot number of the vaccine that was given to the dog. read more

Do not order for same day delivery. My bank was charged immediately placing my order, then hours later informed would not be delivered same day as stated when ordered. Called to cancel order, was informed it was canceled and actually was not canceled and did not receive product. Getting the run around from customer service. Terrible experience. read more

While I like this place for my dogs, you will not or cannot answer the phone. I have tried again ALL DAY to get a grooming appointment, and nobody will answer the phone. Get your cheap boss to pay someone to answer the phone. This is a CONSTANT ongoing thing with this petco. I will be taking my 4 dogs somewhere else, where they answer the phone.. Too bad, as I have been coming here for years. Your loss. read more

I was literally just in there they have food there is a brand that has discontinued and it has a sign that says if you need an alternative to this food please ask and associate there is no associate to be found in that store I walked up to the counter and told the gentleman behind the counter that I needed help he told me he would send help help never came so I left and didn't buy anything and will never be returning again hire more people at a wage people can live at and you won't be understaffed read more

Our shopping trip took a little longer than it should have. Not because we had trouble finding the cat food and litter but because I am easily distracted and had to say hello to all the cute little mice and rats and such. Although we didn't need it, I was surprised that no one asked if we needed any help, especially because we were two of the three people in the store. Luckily, things are well labeled and the woman working at the register was nice. This Petco is conveniently located near Trader Joe's so you can get food for yourself after buying food for your furry friend. They are open until 9:00 p.m. read more

This place has all the standard pet stuff you would probably need. It's clean and pretty well organized. The staff is okay. Not rude by any means, just not overly interested or maybe the ones I have dealt with don't fully know the store and items? But I will take not rude any day over some places. Parking is good. read more

I was having an emergency, I am in the middle of moving and taking my cat to be boarded when she pooped in her crate. So we stopped off at Petco to, first ask about Grooming her. They were not able to groom her at that moment so I went to purchase some deodorizing wipes and grab a couple poop bags. The red head at the counter, Kamila (it says on the receipt) walked up to ring me up. She didn't say Hello, asked if I had found what I needed, or even how I was doing that day. She scanned my item, she didn't even give me a total, I had to look at the screen to see the exact amount. So I handed her my cash, she then handed me my change and my receipt. She didn't bother to say Goodbye, didn't tell me to have a nice day, or even thank me for coming in. Now, I used to work for the Petco Company at the Fairfield, CA location, as a cashier. They were very strict on being very polite and talking with the customers. Which of course, I would always be because without those customers, I wouldn't have a job. I am in the midst of a very stressful time in my life, I would have really appreciated some friendly customer service. So thanks Petco, thanks Kamila....for NOTHING! read more

I have visited the Walnut Creek Petco on ignatio many times over the last 3 years for grooming services, and pet purchases. You have to hunt someone down to assist and the grooming does not allow you to make just a nail trim appointment online. I have called in and left messages for the last four appointments and never got a return phone call. I have had to go into the store to make an appointment for a nail trim and this last time they texted me the day before and day of that my appointment was coming up and when I got there they told me they had called and left a message that the groomer was not in. The simply was not true as I checked my phone and there were no calls from anyone there or voicemails. They were rude and had no care as to making it right. I will never use them again. Terrible customer service. read more

Convenient location and a decent sized-store. That said, this store didn't really offer much compared with other pet stores I've been to. I came here with my sister to buy some dog food and puppy pads - the food was decently priced, and we were allowed to use the coupons that were stuck to the bags of dog food right away to claim four additional cans of food, which was awesome! However, the price for the puppy pads was ridiculous. ~$40 for 100? No thanks. Staff was not attentive at first, but once flagged, we were able to finally checkout. read more

My dog was bit in the face today while at the grooming salon. The incident may have been avoided by not allowing dogs to get close to one another. Nevertheless they did not handle the situation well. The manager set me up with the assistant manager to go to my vet to pay for the visit and whatever care needed to be done. That was good. But they did not call to follow up with me. They have not offered an explanation as to what the offending dog owners said. They will not allow me the contact information of the aggressive dogs owners. I only know they showed proof of rabies vaccine- but they have given me nothing else. - which we do need. The owners/Petco will be responsible for any further care my pup will need. They need to have a better handle on what happened and a clear plan should anything like this happen again. I will not be returning to the store or grooming salon. read more

I have visited this store several times in order to get pet food at the last minute or to buy a toy for one of our dogs. There are many things that I like about that this store. The store is conveniently located and has a large parking lot. The employees that work here are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This store is well organized and has lots of different pet products. I love that they have a huge toy section for dogs, although they have a large selection of many different pet items. You can easily find anything that you are looking for in this store. I also enjoy getting different kinds of dog treats for them and the selection is huge! I have noticed that unless you are buying items that are on sale, many items cost more than other stores and more than you can get it at Amazon. I think that this store would benefit from price matching. read more

I believe that after these photos I didn't even need to say anything else. I'll never go back to that place again. My Maggie is sad and so am I. We took our pet with the intention of receiving them more beautiful and happy and in fact they were practically in a torture session. I do your weekly hygiene myself and even without knowing how to cut your hair much better than that, I never hurt Maggie even without having experience as a groomer. In short, I do not recommend at all, besides paying dearly they have no love for our little friends read more

Please do not use Petco or should I say at least there mail service I ordered some dog food that was promised on a certain day so far is now three days late I talked to one of their customer service is on the phone to cancel the order but they would not do it, I think everything is outsourced over to India and China the one manager his name is Ike 295771 Is a real POS I don't understand how people like him get jobs as I say if you wanna order something I would say use Amazon or Chewie but for my first order from Petco they absolutely suck and will never trust them again read more

Went here to get a first pet for our 6 year old. We decided on a hamster. We were helped by Christa after being helped by someone else. She graciously spent time with us picking the right hamster for our son. We originally had one picked but then I asked about the ones for adoption (sign was up) so she got the ones from the back. All of them were handled and loved by the staff. It is a perfect pet for our son. Mr. Valentine Hamster Kitty is very tamed, mellow and easy going. He lives in a 40 gallon tank mansion loved by his human. Thank you Christa for such great patience, customer service and kindness. read more

I went there earlier this afternoon to pick up a few things and as I was checking out I noticed behind the cash register there was a tiny bird cage jam packed with at least 15-20 birds on a stool. There is no way that there should have been that many birds crammed in to one cage that size. When the girl working that register was asked by a customer why there were so many birds in the cage she rolled her eyes and told the customer that the birds were used to it. That is a ridiculous response. Even if the birds regular space is being cleaned, they shouldn't be kept in such a cramped space. Sad to see this. Her attitude was poor and the way the guy working the other register laughed was just as bad. read more

I am exremely pleased with the customer service that I have recieved from my reoccurring visits to this particular store. All three ladies who assisted me were very friendly, and knowledgeable. The workers at this location take very good care of their livestock, and customers. I had a particularly pleasant experience with an aquatics specialist named Vanessa. She really knows her stuff, and will not hesitate to answer all of your questions, and concerns. The selection in aquatics is a bit smaller than that of Petsmart. However, you will get far healthier fish. The livestock at Petsmart is more like Dead+Sick-stock! Petco is the place to be! read more

I visited this Petco when it first opened at this location, and said I wouldn't come back. They completely ignored me and my dog, and were anything but helpful. Today I went back because I saw on the website that they have puppy play time on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm. It was free, so I took my new puppy. . . . But alas, there was No puppy time because "the person who does that" is on vacation. They couldn't post it on the web site, and didn't think to have a substitute. . . or even mention it to me when I walked in with a puppy! I drove 7 miles to go to this event, and feel completely ignored once again. read more

Before buying ANYTHING at Petco, check Chewy.com and Amazon because their prices are literally ALMOST DOUBLE on supplies. Went in for a pet carrier and it was $35 more expensive for the EXACT SAME CARRIER!! ($79.99 vs $44.99!!! See pics) And when l asked if they price match, the guy unapologetically said "Nope! Only with the Petco website!" And strolled away. Amazing that they can stay open, doing business like that. read more

After months of leaving voice mail messages for grooming, I finally spoke to a representative and was able to schedule grooming for my dogs. Due to an accident, I was 15 minutes late. Mark or Marko was condescending and demeaning in his response and kept saying I was almost 30 minutes late so they gave my slots away. I tried to explain that it took months to get an appointment and I tried calling and he said in a demeaning tone that he's been standing right there by the phone and insinuated I was lying. I expected him to say I'm sorry, let me see what we can do for you, even if they had to reschedule, but he was extremely rude and condescending. I finally had to tell him very firmly to stop talking to me the way he was!! I then went to the front counter and spoke to a manager and while in the store I called the grooming department and there was no answer just so I can prove to the manager that I was not lying. The manager, Josh was nice and provided the contact information for the grooming manager, Kristen. I'm highly disappointed In the lack of customer service in the grooming department. If they don't know how to speak to customers, they should not work at the front desk. Im hoping that I will receive a return call from the manager. read more

The grooming staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, and the store is always spotless clean. Worst grooming experience ever!! Got there less than 1/2 hour early and they refused to take our dog. We explained that we had another errand and would try to make it back on time. Never again!! read more

My dog has so much anxiety and I'm not good at cutting her nails. So unfortunately, we always have to go somewhere to get them done. Most places I go hold her down and try to get it done fast, which I understand, but it makes my dog hate it even more. Today at Petco, Nesta and another gentleman worked together to gently hold her, pet her, and calm her anxiety through the nail trim. It was so sweet to watch. Thank you guys!! read more

My dog has been exclusively groomed by Kristen for almost three years. He adores her and I appreciate the love and compassion she shows to him. He is always excited to see her on our visits and I know he will be well taken care of. She truly goes above and beyond. Cannot recommend Kristen enough. read more

This review is based on the rude interaction I had with employee Amanda. Upon going to purchase my pets food there was signage stating 20% for cans. When I went to the front she refused to honor the signage at was COMPLETELY RUDE enough for me to walk out and drive to the Martinez Petco where low and behold they had the same sign and when I went to ring up they fixed not only the 20% discount for my kitty canned food but also the person in front of me who had the same question. Amanda is the rudest employee I have ever come across at Petco and usually this location is our family Petco but after my interaction with "Floor Merchandize Manager Amanda" as she so sassily told me when I asked her her name. We will not be returning to this Concord Petco Location that we have been coming to for years. I hope the store manager reads this because the interaction I had with Amanda was absolutely disgusting the way she talks and interacts with customers. read more

This review is for Kristen, in the Grooming Dept. I must point out that everyone I've been in contact with, at this location, are always friendly and eager to assist. However, this evening I felt compelled to leave a review of my experience. My kids and I brought in our 2 yr old beagle in for a nail trim and anal expelling service. At the last minute, I asked about bathing options. Luckily, they weren't busy at all, so Kristen was able to bundle my requests, into THE PERFECT package! Bath, nail trim, anal expelling (which came with the bath) AND ear cleaning all for $34 and all in 1 hour. I call that SERVICE ...Hecame home clean, happy and pampered :-) Thanks again, Kristen! Please do not send your dog here. They admittedly told us their groomer was inexperienced after he traumatized my dog. First time at a pet store in a long time (sorry no fur babies). The store looked as any retail store would look the week after xmas, completely tore up with only 2 associates working. With that said I was still able to receive great customer service from the sales girl in the fish department and the manager on duty who made sure we received all available discounts and promotions. Greatly appreciated. read more

PETCO refused service today for a nail trim. I provided a copy of my dogs license showing the rabies vaccine expires 1/25/2022 and they would not accept it. Grooming review - This is my first time getting my dog groomed here and I had high hopes for a good outcome. I gave a rating of 1 star each for cleanliness and customer service however I was really disappointed with how my dog looked when I got him back. His nose was shaved so you could see his skin and his cut around his legs were uneven. If I were to try it again I'd chose a different groomer. I think I'll stick to just getting his nails trimmed here and continue my search for a dog groomer. read more

of ALL the Petco's available, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE unless all other pet stores 50 miles in proximity to you have been closed down or are nonexistent. So Petco Walnut Creek was having a dog can sale and I called all the Petco's around me to see who had any left. Only San Ramon did and that was a whiles away so I had them hold the cans for me. Unfortunately, I was rung up for 15 cans when only there were 11. Fast forward to later this evening @ my local Concord Petco. I walked in with a few returns and the woman ringing me up was so flustered because she had processed returns all day. Yes, I feel bad but then again, I do not. We have all worked retail. Anyways, because she was so flustered, she called over the MOD (manager on duty). Well this guy named Pete walks up and I explain to him my dilemma. Keep in mind, this was a $2 mistake, but with 4 pets, $2 can feed one of them. After hearing me out, he sternly said he could not return the product because he did not have it in store. So I told him I could go home and bring the product in so he has a SKU. That is when he started on his WHOLE slippery slope of excuses. Pete: "This would be impossible because we did not sell you the product. We cannot do that" Me: "Can you call San Ramon? They told me to have you guys call them to figure it out. They told me you can correct the issue." Pete: "Well they misinformed you. They should not have told you that." Me: "Well can you call them anyways? Why would they say they can do that then?" Pete: (pulls out his CELL PHONE and pretends to think about calling, places it away) (now yelling @ me) I said it would be pointless to call them because there is nothing they can do. We can't do things like this because it affects our shrink" Well, I kept poking to have him call and throughout his yelling @ me, he states, "I am the District Manager and I am telling you we cannot do this." ........I called Petco customer service and filed a complaint. 10 minutes on the phone and I found out this guy named "Pete" is NOT, NOT, NOT the District Manager. So let me get this straight. There's a manager @ Concord Petco that is LYING to customers when he does NOT want to deal with by telling them he is the District Manager????? Oh, even better, he wears a name tag with the title labeled as "District Manager". According to Petco, he is just the regular MOD, NOT the District Manager. The DM of Concord is another gentleman, one you may never see because DM's travel around to all their stores. They do not stand on the floor ringing people up (@ least not @ Petco), and they sure as hell do not work at the same store every day! I am pushing this as high up as it can go. This ass of a man needs to be taught a lesson. I called Petco Corporate and left a message for CEO, Jim Myers. I will continue to call until I hear back. I refuse to let a sad, pathetic, excuse for a man yell at me and lie to me because he could not call another store for details and credit me $2 in cash!!!! p.s. I have NEVER felt the need to get someone fired or reprimanded. I mean, we all get upset with sales, but after 20 minutes, you forget about it. This one is unforgettable, and no other customers should ever go through the 20 minutes of hell I went through. read more
