Things that are listed as available online end up not actually being at the store and the employees attitude is, "oh well, we forgot to adjust the quantity." Horrible!! I made a grooming appointment on Thursday April 16th and they text me saying that they have no idea why the website allowed me to make the appointment as the groomer was not available. After texting they also called and left a voicemail. As a result of this store cancelling my appointment, they blocked my online profile from making any further appointments. I tried for three days to reschedule online and then finally called the store. I spoke to a very rude employee who told me there was no block on my account. This was not true. He continued to repeat there was no block on my account, despite me telling him that there was. After going back and forth, he says-now I am going to block you because you are being rude. It makes no sense to me that the employee would continue to tell me there isn't a block on my account when there is. I told him I would show him when I arrive and he said there is no need for that because I checked. He did not check. There is a block on my account and this store was completely irresponsible in helping to solve the issue that they caused. The most unprofessional employee I have ever worked with. If he didn't know how to fix it or didn't want to fix, that would have been better than trying to tell me that the block I was receiving didn't exist and that there store wasn't responsible for causing it. I had a very poor grooming service for my dog at this location on Thursday, February 19, 2026. My dog was harmed during the grooming session -- an injury that I believe was a direct result of the haircut being trimmed far shorter than I had requested. I explicitly communicated beforehand that I did not want my dog's hair cut that short, and my instructions were disregarded entirely. The outcome was not only aesthetically unacceptable but caused physical harm to my pet. This experience has been deeply upsetting. I trusted Petco to care for my dog safely and professionally, and that trust was broken. I am requesting a full refund for the grooming service in light of the poor experience, the failure to follow my grooming instructions, and most importantly, the injury sustained by my dog. I have before and after photos of my dog and the cut he sustained during the grooming service. I have called this location to speak with the manager but no one has answered. I've really thought about writing this review for months as we have been coming to this Petco for years and never had any problems except once. We brought both of our dogs in for all their shots in July and also bloodwork. We were told that they both had Lyme disease and to get them to a Vet to get them on antibiotics. We are both retired and really can't afford what it would cost for 2 dogs. So we have had them on a natural antibiotic which we get from Amazon. So I had an appointment for my little dog to have her groomed, so because she has Lyme disease they would not groom her! It's not contagious to humans or other animals.. I've been taking Sophie there for 7 years! We also paid for Vetco. I'm very disappointed in the grooming department and the management of our Petco! read more

If you're going here for Vetco, good luck! First of all, it is always a chaos. No communication between the mobile unit and the store unit to direct the patients. I was told to stay in the store as they would call me, and I got the earliest appointment too. After my appointment has passed, I asked when I would be seen. The answer was.... "Oh, you should line up outside to be seen" So, I was not the first one to be seen although my appointment and my check in was the first. Second of all, the professionalism of the vet assistant was rough there. Disagreement with the vet was very clearly stated in their conversation. I have been seen by this vet for years for all of my 3 dogs, and this has never happened before. As a patient, I do not need and must not know what has been going on with Vetco-Petco and the company issues. However, this was clearly vocalized by the assistant who clearly was not focused in the patient. Third, since I am a returned customer for years, my pet records must be there. Somehow, my oldest dog got the age of 16 years old while she is just 8. Prior to giving injections, I was careful enough to ask who the injections were for since I brought 2 dogs. They almost gave the injections to the wrong dog. No name to face check?! Fourth, I was told to return to the vet that I have just visited 2 months ago for flea and tick heart worm prescription. The reason I visited 2 months ago was for annual check up and prescription. Instead of giving me a year worth of prescription which typical vet does, I was only given for 1 month. Since I have to go back to the vet, I'll bring all my dogs to a different vet. I will not bring my 3 dogs back to the Vetco, especially in Clinton. Pet parents, do double check the injections name if you bring multiple dogs at a time. Good luck. read more

I've only been to this store a few times and initially I was impressed with their wide selection of aquatic items. The floor would often be wet and there would be boxes everywhere but besides that the man that works at the fish section was very knowledgeable. I appreciated hearing him inform other customers about how to properly care for fishes instead of allowing them to just buy whatever fish they wanted. I did a store pick up order for five items and received an email that one of the items were not available. It wasn't a big deal but when I arrived to pick up my order there were only three items in my bag. I asked the cashier whose name is Kevin about it and he told me that I'll get an email of my receipt and it'll show that I was not charged for the second item missing. The thing is, I did get an email of my receipt showing that I was charged for it and when I tried to show him the email he rudely dismissed me and spoke to me in a very condescending way about it. He actually refused to even look at my email and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. I felt really uncomfortable so I just agreed to whatever he was saying so I could leave. Fortunately, I was able to do a live chat through Petco's website and they were able to reimburse me for the purchase. I was hoping I could make this my new go-to Petco location but I think I would rather drive into Virginia for a better experience from now on. read more

I scheduled my standard poodle for a hair cut which to my surprise, the groomer said they could fit him in the very next day at 3:30pm. I dropped him off at his scheduled time and told them that I wanted him cut evenly, as I pointed to the picture of the poodle on the sign above their desk. Basically keeping his look but a little cleaner/shorter. As I was leaving, the groomer advised that it would be 3-4hrs before he would be ready. Thats pretty typical and i didnt expect anything less. I went back to work (military base) and left around 6:30 as I was anticipating a call. I did some shopping in the store buying over $100 worth of fish and supplies. After another hour + passes with no call, I decided to pop into the salon to see if maybe she didnt have time to call me yet. She advised she hadnt started him yet. Then I mentioned the store was about to close in 15min (8pm) and she said she's about to do him. My baby had been there for 4.5hrs and she hadnt started him yet! I live to far to drive home so I just waited in the parking lot. At 8:40, I received a call from another employee asking me to come in and pay so they can leave. I was not comfortable doing so because she wasnt finished, but I obliged. I was shocked his bill was $92 but decided not to fuss because I was tired and I needed her to be done. Finally, at 9pm, she was finished with him and I was absolutely horrified. I basically paid for my baby to get shaved all the way down and be there for 6hrs. He looks hideous and all the groomer said was that he was matted so she had to shave him. I disagreed with her because I brushed him right before to remove any knots. His ears on the inside and tail had some knots but those could have been cut out. The only hair left on him was at the tip of his tail where she mentioned that she knew most poodle owners dont like the rat tail look so she left some on the end. Its so uneven and wasnt brushed out. The groomer mentioned that if im unhappy with his look just bring him in the next day but call first. When I did just that, a male groomer had an attitude and told me that they would fit him in when they could but they are really busy. I was surprised at the total lack of customer service. When I got her home and looked the young lady just took a pair of scissors and cut only a patch of hair by her rectum! What happen to shaving the area??? I didn't have the heart to tell the young woman when she asked if I liked it...it really should have been obvious that the cut wasn't done right. It was uneven, spotty and just unprofessional. Staff is friendly and attentive. The store is clean and shelves are stocked neatly. The sidewalk area outside is not filthy and smelly unlike other pet stores, yes dogs/pets mark on the posts outside but it's not disgusting to walk by/around. The pet trainers are also personable and greets customers/pets. They have a great selection of dog food and treats. I just wish they had better selection of leashes/harnesses. All in all, this is probably the nicest pet store in the area and there's plenty of places to go outside of the store if you need to run errands. read more

I purchased 12 cans of Whole Earth Farms cat food today. Upon feeding my cat, I noticed the can was expired. This was also true for the other cans. Out of 12 cans, only 3 were fresh. I am extremely displeased and dissatisfied after speaking with the customer service representative at the store. They offered me a refund, but I live 20 minutes away, which is another inconvenience. I do not understand why their stores are selling products that expired in January 2017! That is absurd that inventory is not checked monthly. Petco lost a customer. read more

Friendly staff. Just wish the store was cleaner. Counted 3 puddles of dog urine, and 2 dried up dog urine stains on the floor. Some aisles smelled so bad. The staff really are great and that's the only thing that will keep me coming back. I only shop for my turtle at this location, will shop at another for my dog because I just cannot get past the smell and how dirty the floors are where there stained with urine. Do not take your dog here for any service. I booked an appointment online when I dropped my dog off the young lady said it will be more than what the confirmation email stated. I called customer service twice and even spoke to the manager, every single person gave me a different excuse as to why I was being charged for a service I didn't even request. Heres the deal; If you ask me how I would like my dogs hair cut and then we go into spacifics about how I don't want you to cut her brows, only trim the corners so she can see. And how I'd rather we don't cut the beard, just trim and even it up and you do the complet opposit of what I asked I say, then this was a batched visit. I have a min Schnauzer who was essentially getting a shape-up. I tend to groom my dogs myself, but when someone offers to pay to get your dog groomed, hey why not right? My Schnauzer had a years worth of growth on her shorter than average beard. Her brows and lashes where long and shaped, they only needed a trim. She was getting a Schnauzer cut with a bald chest and bare legs. Her chest is not bald very uneven with patches of hair still on the chest. I'd have to say that the only thing done right was her legs and back side. Her head had not been touched except to chop her eye brows off and mangle beard. I was very spacific with how her brows were to be done and that they needed to be separated and that the bridge of her nose was to be trimed. Her ears are just as shaggy as they where when she was brought in. I even specified what blades they needed to use: 10 on the body and 7 on the head only because they can't/don't use a 3. I was not happy that they cut her brows and beard. This is why I DIY. You can do her nail, which aren't done proper either, and nothing else for me from now on. It will take another year for her beard to grow out. read more

I have been using Petco grooming for a very long time, and still think they do an excellent job. However, several months ago, I brought in a new dog for them. He is a long hair chihuahua, and had never been groomed before. I was concerned that if he became nervous he would bite the groomer. They assured me that they had ways of handling this and he would be okay. After his session, when I picked him up, I asked how he behaved. They told me he was perfect and hadn't bitten or fought at all. This past week, I went to take him in for another appointment. They told me there was a note saying that my dog was no longer welcome. Confused, I asked why this was. They told me there were no specific notes, but usually this means that the dog had bitten someone before. They told me there was nothing they could do, and he couldn't be scheduled. I was so embarrassed!! And pissed. How can you ban a dog without a known reason?? Why would they tell me he behaved perfectly? I am really disappointed, and won't be bringing my other dogs back again. read more

I have been bringing my puppy Diesel here to see Tiffany since I first got him and love it! I drive from Waldorf because of the excellent service and I know that when he is with Tiffany he is in good hands! They do not rush and take their time grooming your dog, and their work lasts!!! I took my usual Sunday trip to my neighborhood Petco with my daughter. I usually love this store and have my dog groomed here and I've also recommended it to my neighbors and they all come here, but after the way I was disrespected I will NEVER. Set foot in this store again. They was a short heavy set young women with a red shirt on. This was between 11:30 and 1:00. I asked her for help inquiring about a filter for a fish tank. I'm no expert in fish tanks. I asked her a couple questions from the beginning she seems irritated and just looked at me as if I were dumb. Now yes I am very ignorant to fish tanks and filters and I need help that's why she is here. Correct? To assist me with my questions? She started to like squint her eyes and talk to me as if I were a child that couldn't comprehend. The look on my face was puzzled, I couldn't believe that she was speaking to me in such a manner and in front of my daughter at that. I simply stated look I don't know anything about fish tanks or filters and she mocking stated well that's why I'm telling you only to follow up with a anymore questions in everything less thank a great customer service tone. I'll admit, I never used Petco for grooming of my two Yorkies...that is, until Tiffany started working there. Tiff and her staff are very kind and gentle to the animals and my dogs never try to run in the opposite direction when they realize a bath is coming.
