Tonight, Shelly, the General Manager, refused the purchase and claimed that "additional paperwork" is required and that this has "always been the rule." That statement is flatly untrue. This store has repeatedly accepted the same barcode without question. The system accepted it. The staff accepted it. The store accepted it. Claiming otherwise is either incompetence or a deliberate misrepresentation of policy, neither is acceptable from a GM. If policies have changed, that's fine. Say so. If corporate has tightened requirements, also fine. Explain it. What is not fine is making up a history that never existed to avoid accountability. This is not about confusion or misunderstanding. I just had a very strange experience at Petco in Clermont. I often take my children there to see the animals. We love all kinds of animals, and at home we have 2 dogs and 1 cat, but we've had 5 at the same time before. My children are used to playing with our pets and usually respect their boundaries. When we approached the area where the adoptable kittens were, we encountered two female kittens that were cute and quite active. The kids quickly got excited and started playing with the kittens. There was a green paper with several guidelines stuck on the cage, which I didn't see because the kittens obviously drew more attention, and also because I don't speak English well as I'm an immigrant and the text was quite long. It's not a clear warning that stands out as soon as you approach. On the acrylic of the cage where the kittens were displayed, there are several holes through which both human fingers can go in and cute paws can come out. To make matters worse, right next to the cage of the adoptable kittens, there is a shelf full of cat toys. Can you imagine what happens with the combination of kids + kittens + small holes + cat toys? After a while of playing, a very friendly, caring, and polite lady came to ask us not to put our fingers inside the cage through the holes to avoid passing germs to the kittens, and for the kids not to put toys through the hole, but it was okay to play through the acrylic. I apologized for not having read the notice and for not following the rules, and we continued playing through the acrylic because at this time I had already sent photos and videos to my husband because we wanted to adopt one of the two kittens. My son continued playing with the stick outside the acrylic when another very angry and nervous employee arrived and said that we had already been warned and that we were still putting the stick inside the cage (this is not true), threatening to call her manager to escort us out of the store if we didn't stop. While she said she would kick us out of the store, she rudely took the stick from my son's hand. Unfortunately, my English still doesn't help me argue in these situations when I get nervous. We didn't stay there for another minute. We left, my younger daughter crying because she wanted a kitten and we were ready to adopt one since my husband had agreed to it. I'm not here to play the victim and I'm aware that we initially broke the rules and took more care after being warned, but the woman was extremely rude, disrespectful to us. We are Petco customers, we have been shopping there since we moved to the area 2 years ago. We have never been threatened to be removed from any place. I have lived in the United States for 10 years and have never been treated so poorly. It seemed like we were doing something very wrong. While in California people can't do anything if someone steals up to $900 from a store, here at Petco in Clermont, FL, we're threatened with being kicked out for putting a finger in the kitten cage. This place is clean and always flush with products for your pet. In a convenient location to other shops and services. There is usually one cashier at the register so be patient as you wait in line. I really don't see the point of the plexi glass barriers if these guys are just going to be touching your stuff anyways. I have yet to bring my dog in here, because quiet frankly, I don't condone mandatory masks and hand sanitizer. Never have and never will, which tells me they don't really keep the store clean to begin with. If you prefer convenience of products being delivered to your door go with that option. They have a huge assortment of products for your pet which is good but be weary as some products are not safe and contain hazardous materials not on the labels. I recommend research the product you intend to buy. On occasion, my pet as gotten sick from products sold from this company which is why I bring it up. This review is specifically for the Grooming services. We have taken our dog here multiple times with no issues. He has regularly gotten baths by multiple different groomers. This morning my husband dropped our dog off for an 8am grooming appointment and before he was even out of the parking lot they were calling saying he had to come back and pick our dog up. Apparently they couldn't get our dog into the crate cause "he wouldn't move and they had to push him". He didn't show any signs of aggression, just a little nervous, and apparently it was too much work for the groomer so they decided they couldn't give him a bath. It had been a matter of 5 minutes that our dog was dropped off and they were already giving up on him. This was very upsetting because as mentioned before, we have been coming here regularly, but now we will need to find a new groomer. read more

She is a manager isn't it her job to help the customers? I ordered a pick up order, used rewards, they didn't have a few things in stock and they never refunded my rewards. Refusing to honor pricing and customer service I purchase $250.00 on dog food every month from this facility, along with dog supplements , toys, medicines, and have used the grooming service, I have literally spent tens of thousands on dog related service through this store. I also have spent alot of money on tropical fish tanks, supplies, and fish, again , thousands in addition to pet items, over the years with Petco. Unfortunately today, upon checking out with over 280.00 in dog food and other products in my cart, the young cashier declined to honor a 3.00 price match from Chewy online. It is documented online that you do match their pricing, to get the sale, and take care of your customer. The cashier, at 3:30 pm Tuesday 6/6/23, did not attempt to help me, so I decided, I said I will leave the entire cart here and no sale. 300 dollars sale, and all I asked was a 3 dollar difference price match on a dog supplement. I called the store, asked for management, of whom is supposed to assist customers, I was told by this person her name was Summer, the time was 6/6/23 @ 5:44 pm, and then she declined to give her last name. She would not give her correct first name. When you call a Business and ask for the manager, in normal business they give you their name, as they are official, a Manager. I gave her my name and my phone number and address, however this person stating they were a manager, sounded like she was very young and I could hear her talking to someone , muffling her voice and laughing at me, even though I spoke completely professionally and respectful. I guess it doesnt matter to this stores Regional Management, you just lost at least 5 thousand dollars a year from this here customer. I have been in upper level management for decades, and I assure you that I would fire this person, anyone associated, who refused to help clients and build the business, and would let any new prospective employers know of their track record. The store is Petco Clermont, Florida. The store managers name is Giovanni. My elderly parents went to pick up my dog from the groomer. They went to the wrong desk. The employee working that desk did not understand they were picking up a DOG, not a merchandise order, so he said it wasn't there. They panicked. The associate called Giovanni for help and Giovanni escalated the incident by agreeing that they didn't have our dog and that he would call the police if they didn't leave. With no help from Petco staff, my father was finally able to convey that they wanted to pick up our dog from the groomer. My father was extremely panicked and frustrated and complained about the incompetence of the employee. Giovanni told them to get out of the store and never come back. From other reviews I've read, it seems this is the way Giovanni responds to a lot of situations. There was no need to address old and confused people in this way. WARNING AVOID! Made a reservation to have my pup washed and groomed, had some other plans so i booked for 9 am as I was told the service takes 3 to 4 hours. Awesome. So we tell them on the phone, we booked early as both parents have an appointment in the afternoon and we will need to go and pick her up without the services being completed... No one will ever hold my dog for ransom especially when you didn't do your job in the first place. I ask to have a manager available as i am getting into the car. We get there, and there is 1 cashier, and at least 2 women working in the grooming area. I demanded my dog. We are given the standard excuses... we over booked, we had a walk in, we were short staffed... I DONT CARE. You make a commitment to perform a service, in a time frame... that's what i expect... If Petco had said 4-5 hours thats fine, we would have scheduled a different day... and wondered why it takes that long for a wash, nails, and trim for a 7lb dog... but still. I don't usually shop at Petco but I decided to tag a long with my daughter who was buying cat food. The store was clean, well stocked and nicely organized. I enjoyed looking at the birds, fish and really cute ferrets that were all for sale. All of their animals were in clean cages or tanks and seemed to be well taken care of. Their prices seemed fair. I was really happy to see that they were very active doing pet adoptions. They were showcasing some beautiful dogs looking for a forever home. The cashier was really nice and seemed to enjoy her job. Worst place to take your dog to get groomed! There is this one (groomer) that seems to have no knowledge on how to deal with dogs. She acts more scared as if the dogs are going to attack her. she is in the wrong profession and wrong line of work. If you want to get a dog trust you don't barged at her unexpectedly. Obviously you not going to get the dog trust. My dog was more scared of her the way she approached her and tried to leash her that we attempted this twice (grooming) my dog has left shaking from Petco twice. Never taking my dog there. COVID UNSAFE. Payment options require use of an unsterile stylus due to dysfunctional and outdated technology. The cashier wears a mask and gloves but customer after customer has to pick up a stylus to use non cash payments. When I brought this up to the cashier - she said the touch screen was broken and would not sterilize the stylus before I had to use it. She could care less about the situation as she had protection. If you have to use this location and have no other options - order online and use pick up service. In store purchases put customers at unnecessary risk. We went to Petco on a friend's recommendation for puppy training for our 4 month old GSP. We started last week with Mark as our trainer and he was fantastic! Helped us all (there was another pup and it's parents in the session as well) figure out the best puppy foods for our breed and helped us figure out which training treats work the best! I normally don't like corporate stores and this one isn't a real exception. There are two reasons we go here: 1) There is one guy there (a dog trainer) that spent a great amount of time with us on deciding the proper dog food for our beautiful Great Danes and 2) They're a far cry closer than PetFart. The check out lines are typically slow for some reason...maybe because they ALWAYS have to record the scanned coupon number. Funny that one has to manually record something in this day of paying your mortgage on a cell phone (like I did yesterday). If there was better I'd go but there isn't. read more

Normally I had been shopping with this Petco for a good long while, since I have two leopard geckos and go there for food and supplies, but will no longer be going due to the terrible treatment of a gecko that I recently bought that passed away due to malnourishment and neglect. I had been eyeing this poor baby for a week since I had noticed it and made the decision to purchase him with the understanding that the staff were not taking the proper measures to take care of their animals. This is not the first time Petco has been under fire for the neglect of reptiles, years ago they were caught throwing away live reptiles. Had an appointment to get my dog groomed at this location and was met by the groomer who seemed irritated to say the least. As we went over the treatments/packages I started to get a bad feeling which was cemented once she told me to fill out an application for their PetPals program. She instructed me that I had to do this and when I questioned her she erupted into a tirade about how if I wanted to get my dog groomed it was her way or the highway. I politely told her that I would be canceling my appt. to which she responded by grabbing the application and tearing it up in front of me while exclaiming "good."
