We've been using Bow Wow Pet Resort for over 15 years and I can't imagine taking our dogs anywhere else. The staff loves them and always has sweet stories to tell us when we pick them up. I wanted to give this place a one-star rating, but it's a fairly secure facility. Once through the front door, there's little chance your dog can escape. I recently moved to the area and needed doggy day care while I was looking for a house. This place was recommended by an employee at a nearby pet store. But, she really didn't know anything about it other than it was close by. There's a large play area at the front, observable through large windows at reception, and there's a back area that you cannot see. From what I experienced, there's no air conditioning other than at reception. That leaves your dog exposed to Florida heat and humidity for the duration of the stay. Both times I picked up my dog, he was heat stressed and physically hot. There's plenty of water and it looks like the dogs can be hosed down, but that's not enough. Smaller dogs really suffer in heat, and dogs with skin problems shouldn't be watered down. There's no place for your dog to escape when they've had enough. The other issue is they're closed for four hours in the middle of the day. I didn't notice this the first time. I showed up and there was no one around and no cars in the parking lot. I'm sure there's a way to get your dog in an emergency, but I've never seen a business model like this. Last issue, is they will shamelessly flip around the pay pad and solicit a tip...for doing their job...that they're already paid for. Of course, they're all standing around looking at you. No pressure. I tipped because I don't want them to screw with my dog, But, they're not waiters or baristas. Their job IS the service; the service isn't extra. So, if you're actively fighting against out-or-control tipping culture, this alone is enough to avoid this business. Add the lack of air-conditioning, and there's just no reason. read more

So I brought my basset hound, Bentley, here for doggie daycare yesterday. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!! We just moved to the area, and Bentley was super depressed. James, the owner, was so sweet and you can tell he and his staff care for the dogs. They separate the big dogs from the med/small ones. Have a separate area for ones that just need extra attention, but they are still able to see the other dogs. He has a nice area for them to just relax by themselves. Thank you SO much James! Unbelievably sketchy place!! Their contract waiver says they are not responsible if your dog gets kennel cough. Well sure enough our senior lab now has kennel cough. I've read online that it's because they don't properly clean the kennels between dogs staying in them. It's funny, when you go to take a tour of the facility the owner will not let you into the kennel area. Says he doesn't have liability insurance to allow you to see where the dogs are housed. We should have just left right then and there. BIG lesson learned! This is a sketchy place and our super healthy lab that has never been sick is now coughing her head off and we have the vet appt this afternoon, ugh! BTW- if you have any change in plans, say a death in the family or family emergency they will charge you for the full stay. Even if you give them 72 hours notice, doesn't matter. The front desk person will just get defensive and say over and over that it's in the contract. Very compassionate and flexible on their part. Again, super sketchy!!!! Lost half our dog's food, and both their blankets. Basically it's a disorganized mess. They found the blankets later in the day but where is the remaining dog food? The whole experience was not great. Do yourself and your dogs a favor and look elsewhere for safe boarding. read more

A few months ago, I made a reservation for my 3 puggles to board for approximately 1 -2 weeks because I was going into hospital for a lung condition that I suspected would need major surgery.  In fact, I did need surgery and I called Bow Wow right away and asked them to keep my doggies for a few more weeks and they said no problem and to keep them posted. Well, a few weeks turned into two and a half months!  After major surgery, I got pneumonia and an infection that resulted in a 2nd major surgery.  The 2nd surgery left me so weak, I had to spend 2 weeks in a nursing home for IV antibiotics and physical therapy to get better.  BTW, best ever nursing home - 5-star rating: AdventHealth Care Center Apopka North.  https://www.adventhealth.com/skilled-nursing/adventhealth-care-center-apopka-north#10023 During this nightmare, one of my only sources of comfort was knowing my sweet 4-legged children were being well treated.  Bow Wow loved and cared for them as if they were their own - they practically adopted them!  My doggies even learned quickly where their own room was.  The owner, James and his team run a very clean, organized, and caring environment for all their canine guests.  Dogs get scheduled play, rest and feeding whether they are there for just daycare or long term.  Everyone is so friendly and kind at this place which makes for excellent customer service.  The grooming is wonderful as well - when I finally picked up my dogs, they were clean and happy! The trust and confidence I have in Bow Wow is incomparable.  I have been to several other places in the area and none come close.  I look forward to bringing my pups back to Bow Wow for boarding and grooming - hopefully next time during my vacation instead of a hospital stay! read more

We cannot say enough about how wonderful the Bow Wow Resort is for our dog! They provide a loving and safe environment for our little guy to play and interact with other dogs. Our dog is a rescue who had previously been abused and badly neglected. Because of this, he was not very friendly to other people and animals. From day one, we noticed a positive change and now, he is a different dog! He absolutely loves being at the Bow Wow! He comes home happy and exhausted! We have used Bow Wow for several years without any problem at all. We have a German Shepherd that has always been welcomed. Today I emailed requesting space for our dog for a week. I knew it was short notice and hoped for the best. We got a call letting us know there was room. About 45 minutes after being told we could bring our dog the new owner called and told us our dog was not welcomed there. There was a note in his file that he was aggressive. We had never been told this before and our dog had been to Bow Wow several times and never turned away. Our first (and last) experience with the new owner means new business for someone else. read more

I am disgusted!! I left my young dog there for three nights and he came home smelling of urin and feces AND on top of that lost two pounds! This is a puppy of 18 weeks, who should be gaining weight! He has never had any smell - he is a Labradoodle with poodle hair - and I had to air my car out after driving him home, his stench was so bad! I will never bring another animal there, nor would I suggest you do! This place is a rip off! read more

1 of my clients I do pet sitting for would bring their dogs there for daycare a couple times a month. They instructed the staff to not have their lab mix around other dogs for medical reasons. During their last visit a few weeks a staff member had him around another dog & he was badly bitten by the other dog. The treatment has required stitches & multiple rounds of medications (I've seen it myself). Bow Wow's refusing to pay for/reimburse the owner for the entire treatment even though it happened due to negligence of the staff- they've only paid for a portion of it. If an injury is sustained in any business then the business can be held liable for any necessary treatments due to the injury. The waiver does say Bow Wow can't be held accountable for injuries sustained while in their care but this sounds like a violation of their protocol. I've told my client to file a complaint with a boarding license agency so they can investigate the company. Animal services could also get involved if they have to. My client will not be using this facility anymore because of this. I work at a veterinary clinic that also does boarding. We've never had incidents like this because we follow a strict protocol. read more

I feel that my dog is in safe hands when I bring him here. He makes friends there and enjoys the other dogs and staff. The staff posts pictures on Facebook sometimes so u can see pics of ur fur baby when ur on vacay. The place is clean but I wish the dogs had more running room but I think the owner is working on expanding the place. Otherwise no complaints. read more
