Our golden retriever has been attending Doglando for over 2.5 years. It's a great place for her to be running around and learn. 6 acres of space with outdoor pool, sand yard, lagoon, ponds, and other natural habitats for her to play and explore with her other furry friends. Don't worry about them getting dirty. At the end of the day, they will rinse and dry her off so she can go home nice and clean. Our pup was very timid and afraid to go out of the house before Doglando. The staffs there are very passionate and helped her overcome her fears. Have had a great experience with Doglando for many years. We own four dogs that attend or have attended daycare to various degrees. We also love the convenience of being able to buy dog food, collars, toys, etc. while picking up our dogs. We don't take advantage of many of the programs Doglando offers but I wanted to call it out because there's always something available to enrich you and your dog -- behavioral classes, national experts hosting seminars on canine topics, athletic offerings, etc. Doglando is constantly improving their location. They've paved the road all to the way to Colonial, added multiple safety gates, built an air conditioned 'barn', brought the dock diving trend to Orlando, expanded their pick-up hours to be more friendly for 9-5 workers and have added more fun things for the dogs to use than I can recall. I see some outdated reviews here so I want to set the record straight on late pick-ups. First, I typically get out of work late and won't make it to Doglando until after 6:30pm. I am able to pick up my dogs without issue, even that late, with no penalties or fees. I did the dog training with my 5 year old dog, we did the AA (also known at the beginner class). I was thoroughly impressed with Teena's persistence and mannerism, which may be a bit rough for some, but in the world of being a better pet owner, sometime the brutal truth is needed. Her methods helped me reassess how I interact with my dog and how he viewed me as his owner (as opposed to random food provider). I left with a very positive experience and felt very guilty if I didn't work with my dog during the week, which I think is how you should feel since you have gone out of your way to enroll into a course to train your dog in desired behaviors. Leaving your dog home for 8 to 9 hours while you're at work, especially in a crate, is never fun...at least not for the dog. Fortunately, in this day and age there is the wonderful concept of doggy daycare and in Central Florida they seem to be popping up left and right making it convenient for just about everyone who has a dog. One of the newer additions to the doggy daycare world is the University of Doglando. What sets this establishment apart from others is that it acts kind of like a school for your pup. Drop off is between 6:30 and 8:30AM and pick up is between 3:30 and 5:00PM. The "daily curriculum" alternates between playtime, treats, naptime and more playtime. I wish I had that schedule in school! PLUS, this place operates completely cage-free...that's right, no cages are used at all! The establishment is laid-out and furnished similar to a home with couches, beds and mats throughout with various parts sectioned off to keep big dogs with big dogs and smaller dogs with smaller dogs. In an effort to keep your pet healthy and unharmed, the owner of this establishment only uses "green," organic products to clean the premises with. My only worry is that the pets go back and forth between outside and inside frequently throughout the day. What about the furniture inside? How is it all kept clean and flea-free? Just curious. Aside from doggy daycare, University of Doglando also provides overnight boarding, grooming, low cost vaccines, and doggy training for your pup as well as events and seminars every so often to educate you on various topics related to having a dog/pet. They have also started a program called Paws Together. The purpose of this program is "to allow parents of children with Autism to build a support group, share stories, treatments and therapies. To encourage building relationships with dogs, and other animals, and explore the "Untraditional" approach to better health." Throwing caution to the wind...this place is not cheap, but worth the service if you can afford it. Personally, I recommend doing it once or twice a week verses everyday so your dog isn't locked up at home or in a crate everyday of the week. How would you like it if you were locked up all day? Also, the hours are not very convenient if you work a 9 to 5 job considering pick up is until 5PM. However, they seem willing to work with you if they are able to. We've been taking our 2 year old English Springer Spaniel to Doglando ever since he was ready to be around other dogs (vaccinations complete). He and we have participated in many of their training classes and he attends daycare once a week to reinforce his socialization around other dogs. What we love about the Doglando Way of training dogs is that it's not just about teaching them the basic sit, stay and come. That's just a small part of what a dog learns there. The goal is to have the dog become a well adjusted member of the community (our family, the neighborhood, the Farmers Market, whatever). This is pretty much my Australian Shepherds second home for the last year. She visits here Mon. Wed. and Friday and it does get a bit pricey but it really helps with calming her down (from playing and being wound up at home and or crated). She also took training here with Tina the owner. Tina also has some special events for dog so it 's worth a drive to check it out. Also for us city dwellers you can rent the place on Sundays for private doggie parties. We have a very high energy GWP and we just adopted a puppy from their wonderful Puppy BREATH program and I could not be more impressed with this facility and the program that Teena has created. We started bringing our Dalmatian, April, to University of Doglando when we first moved to Orlando in 2006. The owner, Tina, over the years has turned the place into a real resort for dogs. The dogs just love the place as well as the caring staff, who are no doubt hand picked. In addition to the excellent day-care we also utilized their puppy beginner classes for the newest member of our family, Brooklyn. Just driving into University of Doglando with the two dogs, they cry with joy knowing they are going there. They can't wait to get out of the car and go join all their friends from around town. Your dog is safe there all day and at night, after getting home, the puppy is so exhausted she goes to sleep for the rest of the night. Tina has much expertise with dogs. Not just in training but she also has consulted with us on important food issues. When we went away, Tina would take our dog home, or to the home of another caring employee and let them sleep in a cage-free environment. I discovered this place just last weekend through a Corgi meet-up group. It is a little bit hard to find, as it is set back off the road- look for the giant red fire-hydrant off of Colonial Drive. The inside is very nice and clean and each room has a gate in front of the door-way to prevent any possible escapes. There is a fence out front, as well, separating the parking lot from the front door. All precautions have been taken for any mischievous mutts who try to outsmart their humans. The backyard is made up of six different play yards, each with a theme. There is an agility yard, a doggy beach complete with a tiki-hut for the humans to sit and watch their pups play. For those dogs who love to run, there is the Boxer themed yard with long stretches of grass so they can run like the wind! My pup definitely had a blast here and came home too pooped to poop! read more

We took our dog to Doglando for daycare 5 or 6 times and boarded him once. The entire staff seemed great and on our dog's first day the owner, Teena, already knew that he likes playing with balls and on the agility course (this was on his paperwork, but we later learned she must not have read it so she was legitimately playing with him). When we first met her, we were a little turned off by Teena's interpersonal style (she is very aggressive) but we figured - she doesn't need to be a people person as long as she is a dog person. However, after she told us that she crated our dog during boarding due to housebreaking issues, I needed to get clarification from her. Our dog chews his paws when crated - that is why we trusted her cage-free facility. The housebreaking and crating issues were described on our file and in person on his first day of daycare. She did not know this, so she must not have read his file. It turns out that the "crate" was actually an indoor fence. If I had known this from the beginning I may not have questioned her, but I did not so I did. Teena did NOT react well to my concerns. I mentioned the crating, as well as medical advice she's tried to push both times we've spoken to her. The medical advice was about our dog's food allergies... she recommended trying the food she sells at her location over our dog's prescription food, even though his known allergens are in the food. I told her that I trust our vet 100%, which made her very defensive. I mentioned being concerned about the crate, which lead to her accuse me of accusing her of lying about being cage free. I thought it was an actual crate because she used the word "crate", but I guess she considers any enclosure a crate. I am still unclear as to the difference between cage and crate, but she was really defensive and didn't seem to be open to educating me about her terminology. During the entire conversation she kept interrupting me. When I would ask her to please let me continue, she'd get frustrated with me for interrupting her. I made an effort to let her finish each thought, but she did not let me finish a single one. By doing this I don't think she ever really understood what I was asking in the first place, she was just defending herself, her business and her qualifications against accusations she believed I was making. I kept telling her that I just wanted information/clarification. At one point she said that she doesn't have time for the conversation and said that if we do "this" again she will ask us not to bring our dog back. I have a hard time letting someone who can't communicate with me care for my pup. She has a great facility and the cage free idea is a wonderful one, but if I can't trust her or ask her for details about it then I have no way of knowing exactly how my dog is being cared for. Conversations and feedback are important but with Teena it seemed to be a one way street. She gives very detailed feedback about my dog but is very unreceptive to feedback herself. So, we are going to take our dog elsewhere. Teena may love dogs, but she needs to realize that the dogs' parents love dogs too and need peace of mind that their dogs are being cared for. My boyfriend and I started taking out Labradoodle, Shea, to Doglando when she was about 3 months old. We honestly thought we'd do it full-time for a few weeks, and then a couple days a week for a few weeks, and then bail because it was expensive. Boy, did that change for the better, quickly. She absolutely loves going to "school" twice a week, and in just the 3 months she's been there, her behavior has improved so much. When she started, she would jump and bark every time we brought her in. We had done PetSmart training and tried to be diligent at home with training and commands, but any time she was in a social setting, all hope was lost. Enter Justine, Doglando, and the awesome staff they have there. I think Shea particularly likes Nicole. After just 3 months, Shea patiently sits to have her leash taken off of her to enter Daycare. When she started, we discussed some goals with Justine. We wanted Shea to be better around other dogs, and to learn that not every dog or human will want to play with her. We wanted her to be better at commands like "come" and "sit", even though we worked on them with her. And we wanted her to be comfortable jumping in/out of cars and on/off the boat and swimming. After 3 short months, I can say all of these have been accomplished. The fact that the daycare is so structured makes a huge difference. The "jumping platforms" seemed so silly to me at first - yeah, let's teach a giant puppy to jump on things. Great. *eye roll*. If not for those jumping platforms, Shea would still need to be hoisted in and out of my Jeep... and at 40lbs and growing that would be awful. Needless to say I'm not a huge fan. I can't say enough good things about how her weekly socialization with other dogs of all sizes and breeds has helped her in social settings, too. She is a big puppy, but doesn't realize she's so large - maybe because she's fluffy or growing so fast. But, she thinks that literally everyone wants to play with her, which can irritate other dogs. I was worried about taking her to the sandbars in St. Pete where everyone lets their dogs run off-leash, but by Memorial Day she was so used to being around other pups, and had really learned to let off when another dog isn't interested. We let her off-leash on the sandbar for an entire Saturday and aside from her making friends with every other family there, we didn't have any issues with her. She played with tons of dogs, didn't start fights, and the jumping came in handy again as she was confident enough to jump off the boat herself into the water. All this to say - University of Doglando has been an amazing experience for our puppy and we plan to continue taking her. I love that the daycare is structured, and that they weave training and reinforcement into everything. I love that by mandating she attend specific days of the week, she has her "friends" at daycare that she is comfortable around. Yes, it's expensive, but you really do get what you pay for. A friend recently had their large-breed dog bitten (badly) at a budget daycare in Tampa. I have never even had qualms about that happening with Doglando... It really all just comes down to a staff that really knows a lot about dog training, obedience, behaviors, and all-around loves dogs. read more

I wish I could post separate reviews as we have had many varied experiences with Doglando! UNIVERSITY OF DOGLANDO: We brought our little street dog (from New Delhi, India) to Doglando for some socialization and training as he sorely needed some. The staff and trainers were all kind, gentle, loving and provided an amazing skill set for our little pup to propel him towards a great future of being able to interact with other dogs, be off-leash and go for leashed walks and behave himself. He started out his time at Doglando being slightly aggressive, generally obnoxious and not very responsive to human teaching/instruction. After some sessions with Teena, Lauren, Noah, Nichole and the other trainers, we were able to really see amazing signs of improvement! We would recommend - highly - Doglando for pups that need to be retrained to understand how to function successfully inside of their family / tribe. CAMP DOGLANDO : Our two youngest children participated in Camp Doglando this year and we HIGHLY recommend it for children in the Orlando area! Not your typical summer camp, this one provides children with the opportunity to get a real hands on understanding of what it means to be a dog owner, care for animals and be a positive, contributing member to society when it comes to cats and dogs. They spent two solid weeks doing some serious work learning about the ins and outs of dog ownership (including veterinary clinic visits, shelter visits, rescue facilities, etc.). In addition, they were each tasked with training a puppy, which included bringing them home to crate train, and teach basic commands such as sit, stay, crate, bed, down, heel, etc. At the end of their two weeks, they were responsible to help adopt out the puppies that they helped to train. Let me just say how much I have enjoyed my interactions with Doglando. The staff really cares about the pups that are in their care that is really evident. My interactions have been so far with Justine- she is very patient and very responsive. She has answered all my questions and when I told her I wa nervous about dropping my puppy (a mini Australian shepherd) off she recommended I come for a visit and see for myself what they are all about, and I can tell you my nervousness went away, Amber- she gave my husband and me a tour of the facility, she was great. She explained how it all works and she is also very knowledgable aboutd dogs. Dalton- he did our puppy's assessment. He explained to me everything he was going to do and why and then afterwards gave me a detailed explanation of what we need to work on with our pup and how. Teena- I really can't say enough how much I have enjoyed working with her. She has helping us with training. We have been using Doglando University for boarding, training and daycare for a little over two years - absolutely delighted by the services and the staff. We know that our pup is in caring and capable hands when we travel. As an "only dog" he gets much needed social time with a wide variety of other dogs on a weekly basis in daycare. We went thru the Nose-work courses taught by Summer (she is a wonderful trainer/instructor) and had such a remarkable experience we went on to compete in Nose-work trials (and did very well!). We wouldn't have had the exposure to this sport or the training to accomplish the goal had it not been for the staff of Doglando. I'm so glad that I am taking the AA class at University of Doglando with my dog Ty. I know I have so much more to learn & I'm probably a bleeding heart for my rescues. That was glaringly evident when I thought that pup was reacting out of fear this morning in class. You did a great job describing the difference between fear and aggression today. I was in awe of your calm demeanor when you handle the dogs. I'm so excited to improve my relationship with my dogs and to learn to give them simple uncomplicated messages. That really made sense to me today when you were explaining all of the different languages we use with our dogs & expect them to understand. I know the classes I take with my dogs at U of D will help me be a better dog parent & a better rescuer. Classes aren't just learning sit, down, stay, heel, they are teaching us how to communicate with our dogs and Teena gives great insight on how dogs think. Doglando is wonderful!!! I can't be more pleased with the care my dog receives when he is attending the day care or when he is boarded. My dog has been a Doglando resident for almost 3 years. He attends the daycare once or twice a week and I have had to board him several times due to my travels and I KNOW that he is being well taken care. I first met Teena when I signed my PUP up for training when he was only 10 weeks old and from the beginning I knew there was no one better than Teena and her staff. I have been taking Hooch to Doglando for 4 years! He loves it there and he loves the staff giving "kisses" to whomever is there to meet him! He goes to daycare at least a couple times a week and he stays there when I have to travel! Doglando is his home away from home, I wont trust any other place with baby boy!! My German shepherd did the board/training with Nicole for two weeks and made great improvements in her leash walking and ignoring other dogs while we walk. I was very impressed! I also like that they believe in positive reinforcement and not painful shock collars. Nicole as well as the front office staff were very kind, friendly and helpful with my questions. Nicole really knows her stuff when it comes to dog behavior! read more

Our dogs have been attending daycare at Doglando since 2007! We are big fans and our dogs, too! We love the campus coaches and the atmosphere. The dogs have so much fun playing in water, sand, obstacle courses, playground and with other dog friends! read more

BEWARE OF TINA! If I could give this place negative starts I would. Tina is the owner and main trainer here at doglando. Her attitude and communication tone is outright mean and aggressive. My experience with her was awful and when I confronted her about the communication problem she yelled at me in disgust. After I cut ties with doglando I was speaking about my experience in a dog park and found out she has had problems with manyyy people, including 3 people I was directly speaking to. So, in conclusion, BEWARE OF TINA. read more

Hubby took the dog here for training after a bad experience with another local trainer and Doglando was great--very to-the-point and no-nonsense training. May be a turn-off for some, but my husband appreciated "getting down to business." We are very pleased and the dog is happy, too! :) read more

Doglando was a great experience for my daughter for camp this past summer and we did participate in the AA class for our dog. However, they have POOR record keeping. Our dog's shot records were provided when we enrolled in the AA class and they said they were expired at the end of the 6 week course. They tried to charge us twice for the same AA class because they didn't show we paid initially, glad we had the receipt. Lastly, they made him take three behavioral assessments. The first assessment was to enroll in the enrichment program and then a second assessment was done to ensure he was compatible with my daughter's adoptable puppy from the summer camp program. Both assessments were acceptable as they are mandatory for the overall well being of the dogs. However, The third assessment was done because they didn't make proper notes that he had passed the first two! We don't live close to Doglando and the lack of records and communication caused us to take additional days off from work and make multiple unnecessary trips. I would recommend the establishment for several of their available programs, but suggest maintaining your own records and have them available for all future visits. read more
