Worst store and management. I had a legit complaint and one or the Employees there started arguing with me about my complaint. I was looking for the manager and out pops up this woman and gets inches from Mt face wanting me to fight her. Told me to take it outside, a big woman who because of her size, instead of addressing my complaint trying to calm the situation, gets in my face, trying to intimidate me. Cynthia was her name, she was rude, implote and thought to scare me by bullying. Petrol hires the lowest of the lows it seems to manage their stores. Anyhow, this store is filled with rude bullies who don't have an iota of idea about customer service. No wonder this particular store is like the 99 cent store of the pet stores, dirty store, bad customer service, rude managers & employees who argue with customers Anyhow, Cynthia should be given extensive sensitivity training. If she /he gets in the face of a man to intomidate, telling him to go outside by trying to make one think he/she wants to fist fight, which she cant scared a man my size, I hate to think how she has intimidated smaller people should they have a legit complaint. Yikes 10 years ago I didn't play when it came to my cats and getting their items lol. Hopped back on here to leave an updated and positive review because I had great customer service when checking out today and definitely wanted to come back on here to highlight this and to give the staff a shoutout. Before I go into that, for context I don't shop here often, partially because I had such a bad experience / frustrating experience years ago and also because there are closer pet stores to my home so logistically it's a bit out of the way. However, today I was in the area, needed to kill 10 minutes and had a small list. I came in and was able to find everything on my list without issue. The store was well stocked and they had some promising deals and the prices on some items were pretty reasonable. My kudos and A+ service today came from Hector working the front register. My interaction with him made me come back to leave an updated positive rating. It was a simple interaction but Hector was so pleasant and kind that it made my shopping experience really nice. He was kind throughout our exchange and he didn't mind me leaving my heavier items in the cart and he scanned them from the cart with ease. Again, it was a simple interaction but a really nice one. Worth coming back to give him a kudos and credit for turning around my experience from years ago. While this petco won't be on my regular rotation (due to location / distance) I would definitely come back again now in the future if I found myself on this side of town and look forward to supporting their business when I can. Review is specifically for GROOMING. This is the second time my dog was rejected for grooming. I acknowledge she gets anxious and often guards when she arrives. But I've been coming for more than 2 years and she is taken very well care of at this specific petco. One stylist is always soo kind and makes our trip so easy. Port hueneme is closer but I always get good service so I book her appts here. Anyways, these last two times, the Jr Stylists were unable to get a collar on her. Previously when they had this issue, I would help them as much as I could to get my dog inside the gate for her service. It made it easier for them and myself. When I would pick her up, I was always told she did an amazing job and how much they loved her. So why am I giving a low review? If the last two times I have not been able to help the stylist get my dog ready to go inside because of "policy", and because she's not being "cooperative" during the leashing. I've asked to help out the least like I've done for the last 2 YEARS, and they said I couldn't. So if she's not behaving, why have I been able to get services two months ago?? What HAS changed since then? I just don't understand. Note my dog is 18lbs, flat face... yes she can be feisty, but I just don't understand if my dog is being sssooo hard on you, why didn't you let me know that last time I was here that you were not going to be able to take her in anymore? read more

Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Camarillo PETCO. I arrived for my dog's grooming appointment with my receipt for his rabies vaccine. The groomer, with a rude and dismissive attitude from the start, barked "Get your dog off MY counter" as I tried to retrieve the info she asked for. There was zero professionalism, zero courtesy, and certainly no love for animals or their owners on display. She then refused to honor my appointment because I didn't have the actual certificate--even though I had proof of vaccination. Unlike her, I don't get paid for my time, and she treated mine like it had no value. I will NEVER return to this PETCO. This groomer was miserable, unhelpful, and made it clear she'd rather not be dealing with people or pets. Rude, rude, rude. Do better. read more

Thank you so much for talking to us about adopting the cats, Julie. Julie, the cashier, advised us that they're two for one, which is a great deal. She also mentioned that they are neutered, microchipped, and have received their shots. Additionally, she showed us the cats' medical histories in the folders. Dylan was also able to show us two cats that are ready to be adopted. The staff has been so kind, the store looks great, and they are fully stocked. TERRIBLE. AWFUL HAIRCUT. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOUBLE COATED DOG HERE. THEY WILL RUIN YOUR DOGS COAT. I brought my golden retriever in to get groomed and they cut his fur WAY too short, some of his whiskers were even cut off. For the amount of this cut, the groomers should be educated enough to know how to cut a double- coated dog's fur. Do not bring your dog here. read more

I purchased an outfit for my pup about a week ago from a really sweet employee. I asked her if I'd be able to exchange it if it didn't fit and she said of course, she also told me she'd keep the receipt on file. Fast forward to today, I come back to exchange it because it was too small for my husky and it had alot of hair on it. She's a shedder. I was helped by Julie and she didn't forget to let me any chance she got that it was not sellable because of the hair. She also would leave to help other customers in the middle of the transaction. Typical PETCO! The only difference is they have marine fish and inverts but be cautious and inspect before buying; especially if there's a Tang in there. The only PETCO in Ventura County that sells marine fish and invertebrates. Employees need to be better trained to care for their animals; poor living conditions and habitats. Incapable fish are mixed with aggressive fish which causes stress and possible death. The only thing saving from a horrible is their employee name John. He is always helpful, polite and tentative to the customers. OUTSTANDING customer service and I've seen do everything in the store. read more

Sara spends a few minutes petting and talking to my girl to ease her into the nail trim. Those few minutes make a positive difference and while getting her nails trimmed will never be my dog's favorite thing, Sara goes above and beyond to make it less scary for my anxious girl :) read more

The tall black gentleman who works there greeted me immediately when i walked in and also gave me a hug because he said " I looked tired" and cheered me up. And it did turn my day around. Honestly hate coming to this location. The workers all act like you are inconveniencing them as soon as you step in the door. Any question you ask will be "because we're in the middle of a pandemic" its 2022, we are not. Came in 10 minutes until closing and they let us purchase food but the whole time they were rushing everyone out saying the systems WILL shut down promptly at 7pm so we will not be able to purchase after that. (Doubtful) Why are there no pets inside? One worker said it was because there are no workers to take care of them. I'm not sure the story but I try to avoid this store. The prices are absolutely outrageous as well compared to other stores with animal accessories. They do not offer vaccination services anymore because of covid either. This was my first time getting my dog grimmer at petco. When I picked him up, the groomer told me she brushed my dog too hard and his skin was irritated. When I looked further, I noticed my dog had multiple wounds on his back, some that were bleeding. Please do not take your dog to Petco for grooming. Went in today to see why I couldn't find my dog's food online anymore. I had been purchasing Instinct Lamb both at Petco and online for the last year. It has been so great that my dog no longer had digestive issues, nor did she have runny stools any longer. However, in the last month or so- no Lamb Instinct. I didn't have to look very far, when Alfonzo who was pricing on shelving stopped what he was doing to help me locate the brand. He showed me the empty spots where the Lamb products would be placed and remarked that because of Covid, there had not been any for quite some time. He suggested getting the beef, chicken, or salmon. He carried the bag up to the register, helped two customers check out, along with myself- and I was outta there in a jiffy! Who's running this place?! The Gen Z'ers who act like they can't be bothered with anything that even resembles customer service?! A simple check out at the cash register seems to be an undertaking that goes above and beyond their basic job description. No greeting at the P.O.S., no 'did you find everything you were looking for?', no offering to bag your items, but instead a look of confusion and/or contempt (can't really tell with these kids here), no asking if you even want your receipt. In contrast, I order from Amazon, go pick up at the Camarillo hub, and am always greeted by the friendly employees there (when they're not busy and sometimes even when they are), it's quick, convenient and I always feel appreciated as a customer. Not so, at Petco. Naturally, I blame management for hiring children who belong at home, with their mommies and daddies, wasting their life on social media and NOT trying to be a functional member of a civilized society. If you have some kind of fetish and like being talked down to the store manager, Mary, I will be your girl. The store has always been selling me the veterinarian support "just food for dogs" brand until today. Today all the sudden it was "Illegal" to sell it to me because I needed a Veterinary prescription to buy food that is on the shelf for everyone to buy. I asked Mary why I have never had a problem and she asked me to tell her the store clerk who sold that food to me a month ago and that she would reprimand that clerk. Does anyone else know who your cashier was a month ago? Was she seriously asking me that question? She proceeded to tell me it was illegal to sell me that food despite it being there on the shelf and that she could not break the law. This girl was so condescending that I feel sorry for her and anyone who has to deal with her everyday. They are so kind to help you find everything only to have you buy something that doesn't work for you. I cannot return anything at this store without a receipt. Twice now I have not been able to return over $30 items. Paid with a credit card both times that I had with me when I went back to return. This location has a bigger selection of some items but I was having a hard time at this location. First off why could I not find a small bag of litter in the brand I wanted. It was either the 40 lb bag or nothing. I could carry it but I didn't want that much. Second, I was walking by the beta fish and was horrified to see at leas 6 dead beta fish. These didn't just die yesterday. I saw at least two of them that had mold on them and just decayed away. There are others there swimming around in horribly dirty containers and some looked like they were swimming on their last fins. The girl at the front apologized and called for assistance a few times it was a good 5 minutes or so until someone showed up. It was amazing that no one noticed this at all. It was a surprise to them. Do you not check to see what condition your animals are in? I'm hoping that if I do go back that these poor fish aren't subject to that again. read more

This is my family's go to store for our dog stuff and recently fish stuff; my daughter,m swears she a mermaid! In term of aquarium fish, they have a big selection and have a variety of price point. I've never had any trouble finding stuff for my dog. The people who work there seem to know what they are doing and clearly like animals. My only complaint is that there are not enough of them! Standard PetCo. Big and clean with wide isles, lots of products all nicely organized and easy to find. Live animals for sale, tons of dog and cat products but also a lot of small animal stuff too. Tropical aquarium fish and supplies etc. I stopped in to look at their guinea pigs but they were out that day. Guinea pig enclosures are far too small for optimum guinea pig health, which is sad but not surprising. :( read more

Came here looking for my dog - who needs to be on a low fat diet. After pursuing around, a worker, Will, looked at me and walked by. Several minutes of more searching, Will walked over to me and apologized for not helping me earlier - he wasn't on the clock yet. Turns out, Will was a huge help! He found something I could try and even advised me that if my dog didn't take to the food, I could bring it back for a refund or exchange. I then began looking for some treats, bc you know, all dogs deserves treats! Just as I found some treats for my other dogs, Will approached me and asked if I was looking for some low fat treats - needless to say, he also helped me finding a low treat! They pretty much carry all your pet needs in one place at Petco. From dog training, grooming, collars, treats, crates, food, clothing, and flea medicine, they have it all. Definitely a one stop shop for someone with a dog or cat. This location is better than most. Sorry they aren't all the same. I have a few negatives which are they don't offer deep teeth cleaning while your pets awake and they don't offer many natural/holistic options for food, flea meds or vitamins. Also, their dog beds are more expensive versus other stores. They do offer 10% off when you buy online then pick up in store and they have a pretty good rewards program. Also, in general their staff is friendly and the store is always clean. I prefer Petco over Petsmart. read more

I experienced the worst customer service in that store. I was struggling with holding my purchases and trying to get something bulky off a high shelf while a "manager" stood 5 feet away having a personal conversation with someone and did nothing to assist me. When I asked to speak with a manager, that was the person they called to the front. I told him what I experienced and he got angry and told me the other person he was talking to didn't even work in the store. Then he walked away, about 2 isles down he yelled back "you could just ask for help". After that I could hear him all way at the front register complaining about me. I asked to another manager and the 2nd person did say they would discuss the situation with the employee. Not sure if they actually will.
