I only use Petco for grooming and I must say Sam is an outstanding groomer and truly attentive to my needs. I'm extremely allergic to perfume, and Sam is the only groomer who has consistently honored my strict no-perfume request. He also does an excellent job with my Bichon Frise, who tends to get heavily matted. Several times he has managed to carefully demat and trim her without having to shave her down, which I really appreciate. I highly recommend Sam -- he's reliable, skilled, and genuinely cares about his clients' specific requests. read more

Please do not ever bring your pet here!! I brought my dog in to be groomed and upon coming to pick him up, they tried to give us someone else's dog. They then told us that they had given our dog to another woman. I couldn't believe it, my service animal was gone, and it was excruciating, waiting for them to track him down. They told us that this sometimes can happen, but I don't see how you give someone someone else's dog when the dogs do not look alike. My dog was a different color, a different sex, a different breed. This was incredibly traumatic for our family. I hope this place is shut down. I'm grateful we got our boy back but the negligence shown here can not be excused. The small amount of bedding in the Guinea pig's enclosures were soaked with piss and poop everywhere near their water bowls. Aquatics section is fairly new and going through an algae bloom in both freshwater and saltwater, but should be scrubbed regardless. Saltwater sumps empty. Their feeder fish tank was clean, which shows they are obviously capable to do cleans but just fail to do so. Cat litter on the floor, place just a straight mess. Disappointing and disgusting, animals truly deserve more than what this Petco "wellness" states. Only reason this is a two star is because of their cat grass and the nice lady who helped at checkout. read more

7/30/22 We were on our way to Staples, but saw they were closed early. So we moved on down the road and found Petco. I was intrested to see what they would have for our family member who didn't come with us. We did find some treats, food and cuttlebones for Chocobo. He tore into the cuttlebone not long after I installed it. It was something we had not installed for a while and that was our mistake. I saw items for people who have praying mantis as pets. I am sure if the owner shrank down to the size of a Smurf, the mantis would great you with open arms. I saw a dog take a dump inside the store, but the poop was picked up and thrown in the trash. Petco stores are use to this kind of thing and had a station near by to handle this eventuality. I saw gerbils and lizards who would love nothing more than to freed from their prison. I saw crickets crawling around on lizards and they may have had no idea on how much danger they were in. I saw one cricket get eaten alive, but that is the nature of life. I did wonder if the lizards were tired of crickets and want more variety in their diet. I will to say they are. Upon checking out, we were greated by Sarah. She was polite and helpful, but I got the idea she wished to be elsewhere in here life. I liked this Petco. I am sure we shall return here again. read more

Pretty nice store. Getting in and out of here, can be quite frustrating. Shiflett and Old Keene Mill Road. If you don't know you will. This aside have had some luck finding lighting for my reptilian friends. They definitely have a good selection on tanks, and in emergency cases frozen mice. My recommendation is order online and save, but if you run out this works. Their aquarium fish section is okay. Cat and dog lovers seem to, have a good amount of supplies to choose from. Definitely keep your eyes out for sales. Nice employees here and it's not too busy either. Also I enjoy pets on leashes here, as dogs are better than humans. read more

I saw a number of mice and mouse that were just dead in their enclosures when I visited this specific location- it looked like they had been sitting there for a while too... Good customer service too because the guy helping me threw in a free snail Also they price match on their website so that's good too. We've been to this pet o several times now. We mainly go to the Petsmart for buying toys and food, but we come here for dog grooming. Their basic grooming for washing and cutting nails is about $50 and that's for both combined. Now the reason I won't give it a five star is a feel like I've been bamboozled twice. Like I said the $50 basic grooming comes with a bath and mail trimming, when I get to petco, they as do you want nails too, I say yes, because it's in the package. They said okay, and didn't tell me they were going to charge an additional $12 for buffing the nails after the trimming. What they should've said, is do you want to add buffing, which is a way to make the nails smooth after the nail trimming or cutting and asked if I'm okay with the $12 up charge, but none of that was explained either time. Personally I like the buffing and ordered it before, but didn't on these two times because I was trying to save some money. Other than that issue, they've been really nice, and do a great job, although my dog hates going their bc he's very shy and Hates getting his nails trimmed. read more

This review is for the grooming. TERRIBLE SERVICE. We have a family dog that is extremely timid and sensitive to noise. The groomers focused on completed their task while causing our dog to be in emotional distress. When we finally picked him up, he had lost some of his fur around his neck where the collar and he was so scared. We took him home and noticed extreme redness around his neck and of course the grooming was terrible. NEVER GO TO THIS FACILITY FOR GROOMING IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG. read more

I would give 0 stars if able. We have brought our dogs there several times for grooming. Apparently they recently had a case where another dog was brought in severely matted and was taken to the vet due do the pain. This was not the case with our goldendoodle but they treated them the same. Our goldendoodle received a poodle haircut, which we did not ask for AND proceeded to give vet advice as a groomer. I followed up the appointment with a call to the vet. Do not take your dogs there, they have awful customer service, aren't comfortable grooming pets and shouldn't be. We will not return read more

This review is for grooming only: I recently tried out Petco's grooming services for the first time for both of my miniature schnauzers (separate appointments), and had a very positive experience both times! This is definitely not a luxury grooming parlor by any means, but the staff is really friendly and I appreciate that they have scheduled drop-off times and call you when they're done, which means your pet doesn't have to wait around in a cage all day long. I also really appreciated their flexibility -- I scheduled my dog's appointment online (their online booking system is very convenient!), but then something came up last minute, and I had to call them and ask if it would be possible to bump it a tiny bit later. They were super accommodating and understanding, and the whole thing went really smoothly. I would definitely recommend Petco's grooming services after my recent experience, and will be bringing my boys back for their next haircuts! read more

1 star due to horrible experience , iv gotten 2 ferrets from this same pet store company 1 at this location who iv only had 3 months. she has a cist that our exotic vet had discovered, that is a little bigger then her bladder/ she also has an abnormal sized heart and will need a $4000 surgery. It seems that both my ferrets iv gotten from these Petco franchises have been extremely ill and ran up large bills for medical treatments. All i ask is that any places that are selling animals, DO BETTER IN MAKING SURE THEY ARE HEALTHY BEFORE SELLING! Yesterday, I was quoted @ $67 for basic grooming, without nail-trimming, teeth-brushing, ear-cleaning, which would cost another $12 each, for my dog of 12 pounds. I came in here today on my day off to buy some bones for my dogs. I discovered that they have an entire isle dedicated to bones and treats. I went for the organic heavenly layer gourmet dog treats and rawhide munchies. This place is so call and they have everything imageanble for your beloved pet.inwas tempted to pick up some science diet dog food as well, but I'm pretty sure that were are well stocked at the moment at home. Interestingly some if their raw dog food is even refrigerated, which was something I never knew. I noticed two Staff Members were chatting it up, I walked right past them without even a recognition that I existed. Oh well, that's how they do it here at this store. Shortly after I received an email saying "Unfortunately the items you ordered are no longer available. We have canceled your order, and you will not be charged for this order." Fair enough not everything is always in stock so I went out and bought it elsewhere. Six hours later I'm told the delivery will arrive with half the items I asked for any minute. I reached out to cancel and was told that although the language was clear that the order would be cancelled and I wouldn't be charged that they would be charging me and the email was wrong. I have a dog that can sometimes be a bit difficult, but my pup always seems to love the workers and always is excited to walk through the toy section to grab something! Also, love the friendly staff! Went here to find food for my new adopted hound. Everyone there is helpful and friendly. Jonathan helped me find a good quality food (Wholehearted) for my new fur buddy and he loves it. I also made some purchases online to pick up there. Ended up with a severely scratched up kennel but it was a size too big anyways. Alex and management helped me with the return and exchange quickly. Stopped in to have my dog's nails clipped, decided to do the mini rover spa. My dog was anxious and nervous, and the groomer Stephanie made it worse. She was yelling at my dog and pulling his legs. She was not gentle at all. The spa was suppose to include teeth bushing; she barely touched my dog's teeth. He was also supposed to get balm on his paws and he did not get it. She clipped his nails ok, and plucked the hair out of his ears, but she traumatized my dog. I've been going to this Petco location for years and have always had great experiences. I've even volunteered with 4Paws and this was the site I was paired up with. In my experience volunteering, the staff were willing to help with any requests I had. As a consumer, the staff has been extremely helpful and truly concerned for the well being of my pets (one cat, two red-eared Sliders, and six Fancy guppies). On my most recent visit, Ms. Susan helped me check out. She was just delightful. Her positive attitude was refreshing and I really admired her easiness when speaking to customers. Bravo! read more

Came in two weeks ago for grooming services for my dog. This is the first time we've come here to have our dog groomed and figured we'd check them out since our neighbors recommended it and said they had reasonable prices. I made the mistake of not inspecting my dog prior to leaving. When I got home, I noticed he had really bad razor burn on each side of his stomach, on his private area, and on each of his paws. Had I known prior to paying I most likely would've argued against paying for it. Even with the price being the most reasonable around, I don't plan on coming back after my dog going through that pain. read more

I've been coming here for years. First it was for my dogs and my cat. That was so many years ago when I first started coming here in 2002. My dogs and cat have since passed on sadly over the rainbow bridge. I currently have taken up the hobby of a small aquarium and freshwater fish. Something new I have started has been shrimp in the aquarium. I have had a really good time enjoying my shrimp and fish in the aquarium. There are several Very knowledgeable employees at this particular Petco. I currently have Cory catfish and a ghost shrimp a cherry shrimp another orange shrimp and a blue shrimp. I also have 3 tetra. Tonight I will add another shrimp and 2 glow lite tetras. I also have live plants. I don't just go here for convenience but because it's a very nice store overall. I usually have a love/hate relationship with big chain pet stores like this for many reasons and due to this, limit my time in these stores. BUT I am in process of getting back into the aquarium hobby these days after about a year and a half and oddly enough an employee at one of the big chain pet stores near by(I won't say names but it rhymes with SetsMart) said that they recommended this store for what I was looking for. Because of this, I was in the store a couple weeks ago and noticed they had a pretty nice selection of not only fish but also live plants. The tanks looked as though someone in the hobby worked there(I even commented on this when I was there at that time). So I decided that when I was at the point to buy my plants/fish I would stop by again. Fast forward, and I have finally gotten to the hardscape/planting the tank part and needed to get some aquarium plants. I went in already having an idea of the plants I wanted and had intention to get a couple shrimp/snails for the mini tank I created my son as well. An employee approached me after a couple minutes and seemed rather knowledgeable and was able to answer a lot of my questions(not to be "that guy" but that's not a common thing I have encountered at big chain places, especially in the fish sections). I did not catch this individuals name but they're awesome! I had asked a question regarding the shrimp and about that time another employee named Joe approached us. The first employee finished giving their recommendations and then passed us on to Joe for further expertise(again, really wish I would've caught this individuals name but you know who you are and I appreciate you!). It was clear from the start that Joe was very knowledgeable on the plants/invertebrates I was asking about and never made me feel rushed or anything even though I probably asked him a couple hundred questions. I left with a bunch of plants, my shrimp, and snails. I will be coming back again once my tank has cycled and I am ready for fish specifically because of this experience. You can genuinely tell that these two individuals enjoy this hobby and have a lot of knowledge. I appreciated learning a couple new tricks to the trade as well. :) read more

:::Dog Training Review::: DOG TRAINER: Alicia We recently added a Goldendoodle puppy to our family. As first time dog owners, my husband and I weren't entirely comfortable training our dog 100% ourselves. My neighbor mentioned that she took her dog to Petco- I was impressed with her German Shepherd's manners. Hence, how we were lured to this location. Alicia rocks! My 5 month year old puppy stands at attention when he sees her, and just wants to please her. Alicia is also great with puppy parents. Dog training (in my option) is really about training parents (not doggies). The classes are not too large (max of 5 other dogs) and dogs are also provided play time. Every class Alicia monitors owners progress, provides suggestions and coaches us on how to be the best owners we can be. She is also a wealth of information on dogs in general- diet, dealing with kids, toys, treats, dog parks, aggression, etc. The best part- my 5 month year old puppy is now crate trained (we did that), house trained, can be left alone for a few hours, knows commands, walks nicely on a leash, and is still learning. PRICE: Competitive with FFX County Parktakes-- Initially, I did not consider Petco for fear of cost. SCHEDULING: Flexible. Upon meeting Alicia, our puppy was placed in a class that weekend. Owners are able to indicate WHEN they would like a class rather than just signing up for when a class is offered. Great bonus! read more

Visited this location today for my dog's nails to be trimmed. Another customer was ahead of me. Her big dog tried to hide behind her - afraid of my dog I thought. NO her dog was afraid listening to another poor dog screaming and screaming while his nails were presently getting cut. The groomer kept pulling the dog in weird positions causing the dog more stress and he continued screaming. The other customer left to wait outside for her turn I thought. The dog getting trimmed jumped off the table because of course the groomer didn't have him secured. The second employee grabbed the dog, pulling him, not bothering to fix the leash which was wrapped around the dogs legs. After far too a long time for the other employee to finally acknowledge me. I said I wanted my dog's nails trimmed but NOT BY THAT lady that was working on the dog now. I couldn't take the poor screaming dog any longer and left the store. The other customer met me outside saying she had an appointment but had to leave because she and her dog couldn't bear listening to the dog being so abused. She said Petco called her on the phone to come back but I can't repeat what she told them to do with their business. I did go in and tell the manager the groomer abused the dogs.
