Up until today I had never cried in public. I suppose there's a first time for everything!…read more Let me start by saying the manager was great. He came out with open ears, listened to us, reassured us that this experience is not what PetSmart stands for, and made sure we left feeling heard and taken care of. His empathy was outstanding. (We thought he was going to cry too!) I wish I could say the same for the groomers. I brought Camper (My Golden Doodle) in for his first haircut because the professional groomer was booked out too far. He gets baths here regularly and I decided to give PetSmart a shot at his haircut. I called ahead to make sure they did an all over cut with scissors and arrived with reference photos in hand. When I asked about scissors at the grooming desk, the groomer said it was a jump in price. I asked how big the jump was and she said "it jumps by a lot." She then pointed to a dog in the back and said they could do the longest length they offer and it would look like that. I decided to accept, and asked that they cut his face short but keep the hair on his head longer. I communicated how nervous I was and that I didn't want a dramatic haircut. I watched another employee check him for mats (she told me he only had one on each elbow which I knew) and then I left. I am VERY consistent with de-matting him and brushing him. I was shocked when I got the call 3 hours later that he had miraculously developed mats all over his body and was shaved a length shorter than discussed. I brought my boyfriend in to pick up Camper because I was worried I was going to lose it. He informed them that we would've appreciated a call before cutting him short and that we won't be returning to which the groomer replied "that's your choice." My dog looks ridiculous. They didn't trim his face short like I wanted, but they cut the entire rest of his body WAY shorter than we agreed on. I had to go home after crying to re-trim his face. I should've just done the entire haircut at home. If I can buy a brush online that removes mats, I'm sure a grooming facility can remove them without shaving. I'm also sure that they could easily tell me the cost of an all around scissor cut and inform me before making drastic decisions. It comes down to laziness and a total disregard for customer preferences. On the bright side, this was a learning experience for me and his hair will grow back eventually.

But where to get pine nuts (not the pre-shelled kind - heaven forbid) on a Sunday morning? Finding myself in Blaine, I remembered this little pet store just north of Hwy 14. There is always a chance. Sure enough they had them. You won't find them in most pet stores and certainly not the Big Box ones. They have fish, small mammals, and a few small birds [people have quail for pets?] They also had a wide variety of supplies for everything from Aardvarks to Zebu. They are a local company with many years in business. I proudly returned from the store and presented Hannah with her new treats. "You're Alright" she said. I guess I am.

I got the rabbit home and realized that she was matted all the way from under her front arms to her rear and even in between her ears. Her eyes were gooped together and hardly opening. The next day I brought her to the groomer and they could not believe that they would have sold me a bunny in this condition. They said she wouldn't have survived to long if i wasn't to bring her in. The day after bringing her to the groomer I noticed mites crawling around on her. I called the store to tell them what happened and they blamed it on "new employees" or "didn't notice it" . I proceeded to ask how long she was there and they said over a month. It isn't rocket science to see that she was miserable and something was wrong. All they offered me was a new thing of bedding and something that "might" help the mites. Although they do state in their policy that they are not responsible for any health issues after purchasing, It was an obvious sign of neglect and I feel any good person would take some sort of action. Someone with this little care for animals should not be running a pet store, let alone selling them. I was hoping they would take some sort of responsibility but if they don't think they did anything wrong , than I don't see there being changes made anytime soon... which brings me to consideration of reporting them to animal cruelty services. No animal should be left living with untreated conditions and it's upsetting to see animal neglect in a store you once enjoyed stopping into.

Unfortunately, our perfect little boy passed away due to an unforeseen health condition despite meticulous health records and documentation. We don't regret purchasing him one bit as the time we had with him was absolutely amazing. Furthermore, after finding out about our loss, Four Paws and a Tail offered to give us another free puppy of our choice without us even asking for support or reimbursement. As always, they are patiently supporting us in meeting numerous puppies in order to find the one whose personality perfectly fits our family. Nowhere else would we be able to conveniently be able to meet so many puppies in order to find the best match for our family, not to mention the amazing service and loving kindness.

I would give this place zero stars as I could.
