But where to get pine nuts (not the pre-shelled kind - heaven forbid) on a Sunday morning? Finding myself in Blaine, I remembered this little pet store just north of Hwy 14. There is always a chance. Sure enough they had them. You won't find them in most pet stores and certainly not the Big Box ones. They have fish, small mammals, and a few small birds [people have quail for pets?] They also had a wide variety of supplies for everything from Aardvarks to Zebu. I recently bought a rabbit that was in unacceptable conditions. The rabbits hair was so long that it completely covered her eyes. I got the rabbit home and realized that she was matted all the way from under her front arms to her rear and even in between her ears. Her eyes were gooped together and hardly opening. The next day I brought her to the groomer and they could not believe that they would have sold me a bunny in this condition. They said she wouldn't have survived to long if i wasn't to bring her in. The day after bringing her to the groomer I noticed mites crawling around on her. I called the store to tell them what happened and they blamed it on "new employees" or "didn't notice it" . I proceeded to ask how long she was there and they said over a month. It isn't rocket science to see that she was miserable and something was wrong. All they offered me was a new thing of bedding and something that "might" help the mites. Although they do state in their policy that they are not responsible for any health issues after purchasing, It was an obvious sign of neglect and I feel any good person would take some sort of action. Someone with this little care for animals should not be running a pet store, let alone selling them. I was hoping they would take some sort of responsibility but if they don't think they did anything wrong , than I don't see there being changes made anytime soon... which brings me to consideration of reporting them to animal cruelty services. No animal should be left living with untreated conditions and it's upsetting to see animal neglect in a store you once enjoyed stopping into. read more

Absolutely horrified at the inhumane enclosures the rabbits were in! It's pure animal abuse. The rabbits are in the same size enclosures as the Hamsters!! They have almost zero room to move. And then the poor hamsters didn't even have bedding and they are burrowing creatures! The cages for the birds are to small! It's just horrible! I wish I would have taken pictures. The guy that claims he's the manager David here is very rude. Told me I could exchange a rat cage for other supplies. After I picked out the supplies I brought them to the counter and he proceeded to tell me he couldn't do the exchange. On a separate occasion my fiancé called asking if they had Dumbo rats in the same manager told him yes so my fiancé said he would be there in 20 minutes, when he got there the manager told him that they had sold them 2 hours prior. He had literally talk to him 10 minutes before and was told they had them. All he could say was sorry. Called the Stillwater location and they told me they could help me with the exchange. I refuse to go to the Blaine location and give them my buisness when this guy is working. read more

not kind to their pets . I used to work here as their top salesman many years ago and was wrongfully let go because I wasnt cleaning fish tanks fast enough but had more good reviews and customer call ins than everyone there combined in the few months I was there . they left a parrot in a cage with bleach on the cage and it got sick so they put a blanket over the cage and left it in a dark room so customers wouldn't hear it crying . I hate this place. I have been there several times but today is my last. sick I'm tired of the rude managers! lets start I went to the Blaine store and I talked to David about getting a fish tank. I really did not know what to get. I was going to get a ten gallon but after talking to my husband on the phone as I was shopping I decided to go with a 29 gallon. but David was rude about it. it's like he wanted me to get my shit and go. he had no time with me. I got my stuff he told me that if I had an issue that I could bring it back. he never looked at the fish tank with me so when I got home it was broken in some areas and him and the other power hungry manger did not help me. I had to contact a different atlas to step in and the owner. they made me drive 45 each way 4 times and had to move fish to buckets. the other power hungry manager was a piece of work! then today o go I. there to get a fish tank blue light and a bubbler and they did not have one so I asked them if they think I could find one on Amazon because I was on a time crunch and he said I am not going to tell you to buy anything from Amazon or t anywhere else. Amazon f I was at petsmart they would have and have told us if they where out of something where I could get it because they cared for us. all atlas wants is money! not going there again. read more

bought a rabbit it was sick... I tried everything to give it life but unfortunately in less then 2 weeks it passed away. they don't take animals back no matter if you have them 24 hours or a week if they die. the lady at the store seemed about 16 and knew nothing about the animals either. will never buy another animal from there again. read more

A hidden gem in Blaine. I didn't realize how lucky we were to have this pet store near us until I made a stop at one of the "chain" pet stores. Atlas carries a very broad range of products for about every pet imaginable and their prices are reasonable. They also know about pets and will gladly give you advice and counsel on items you are looking at. If you are looking for food choices for your cat or dog, or chinchilla or hermit crab beyond the endless isles of purina and tidy cat cat litter (oh, and designer clothes - what is up with that?) then Atlas is your place. Oh, and for the record, this last bit has nothing really to do with Atlas, but my cat's favorite wet food (when he is allowed it) happens to be called Grammy's Pot Pie by Merrick, is something I wouldn't even have known about unless I had Atlas as a source. I don't shop at the big chain pet stores like pets mart or Petco have been to Atlas and people r friendly but when bringing my fur babies in the workers never talk or give treats to them when I go into Chuck and Dons my fur baby is treated like a customer and is given treats and so much attention she gets happy going there so will be making chuck and dons my store and what I can't get from them will use Amazon even the delivery guys pay attention to our pets read more

I enjoy finding my puppies brand of food and seed for my outdoor food but the prices on the pet bird food are too high so I just go to Wally World for my parakeets and one of their employees is very rude. I thought I was just imagining his rudeness until I told my friend who frequents APS and she said this person has been rude to her as well. I will continue to frequent this establishment only because I don't want to make the trip out to Riverdale, but I thought I would give people a heads up on the staff here. read more

Great store, I went today to pick up some fish supplies. I was able to look around without anyone harassing me outside of a simple greeting when I walked in the door. When I needed help the woman was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out a heater appropriate for my tank. She spent about 20 minutes with me, explaining in detail what I needed to do to clear my tank of an illness from my fish. She went so far as to have me touch the water in a couple of their tanks to show me how temps can vary depending on need. On top of that she seemed genuinely concerned about the misinformation given to me by another shop. Very impressed and grateful for the help! They're not close to me, but I'll be making the trip more often! read more
