I am writing this to warn other pet parents. On June 3rd, I dropped off my Maltipoo, Sophie, to be groomed by Josie at the Tanasbourne location (Store #254) When I picked her up at 10:30 AM, Josie informed me she couldn't complete the haircut because Sophie yelped whenever her tail was lifted. She added that she couldn't express Sophie's glands either, and suggested I have the vet do it. Concerned, I checked Sophie for injuries but didn't see any. When we got home, Sophie acted extremely strange. Normally full of energy and excited for her post-grooming treat, she instead lay flat on the floor with her eyes closed. She refused water, food, and treats. Later, she walked to the bedroom and just stared at the bed, unable to jump up. By 2:00 PM, she still hadn't moved, eaten, drank, or gone potty. I immediately scheduled the earliest possible vet appointment for the next morning. Following the vet's examination, I knew I needed to find out what happened to Sophie while in Petco's care. I tried reaching out to the store manager, Sarah, but she ignored me. I finally had to go to the store on my lunch break to find her and ask if there was camera footage. Sarah told me I would have to file a police report to see the video. During this conversation, she let it slip that the groomer told her Sophie had vomited and had diarrhea during the appointment. The groomer never mentioned this to me, and Sophie showed no signs of illness at home. If she was that sick, why didn't they stop the groom and call me immediately? When I asked for the District Manager's contact info, Sarah refused but promised to have her call me. The DM, Kalinda Harry, did reach out. She assured me she wanted to get to the bottom of this and asked for my vet documentation to discuss compensation. I agreed to give her time to conduct an internal investigation and review the video footage. After days of silence, I followed up with Kalinda on Monday the 15th to ask what she saw on the footage. She replied that she had watched it, but was still waiting on my vet records. I asked why she needed vet records just to tell me what happened on the video. After receiving no response, I forwarded her the appointment confirmation and receipt just to clear the hurdle, explicitly stating that I was not looking for financial compensation--I just want to know what happened to my dog. Since then, it has been total silence from Kalinda and corporate. To them, Sophie may just be a dog, but to me, she is family. I will not let this go until I get answers. Of all the SoPhresh kitty litter refresh stations, theirs is the best! There is a slotted grill around the litter area so you can rest the jug while filling it and any spillage goes through the grates. This keeps the area neat. All locations should have this set up! The rest of the store is the same as other Petcos. Plenty of food, toys, beds, crates and accessories for your pets. Plus they have a grooming area and vet services. Located in Tannesborne Shopoing Center I fill up my litter jug while I'm in this area running other errands. Since most of the stores in aloud Center are fine, I often come out this way when I need to go to Marshalls, Old Navy, Ulta, Trader Joe's and Petco. read more

But Daphne took such good care of him and said he did wonderful. He even fell asleep during his appointment which is unheard of for my dog!!! Grooming: We've taken our dog there several times. They seem to be pretty good with the feet cleanup and toenail trims, but twice we've had them do a sanitary trim and both times we've ended up taking our dog to the vet due to clipping trauma. (Thus turning a relatively inexpensive grooming experience into a very expensive one.) Twice is enough. We won't be back. read more

SIERRA!!!! My puppy Toby (5 months old) takes regular bath at home and has been to a professional mobile grooming once. We've never taken him to Petco Grooming. I know some people had negative experiences with Petco Grooming so to be honest, I was nervous to take Toby there. After consideration, I decided to give it a try and it said that the time slot I wanted, Toby would be styled by Sierra B. The store was extremely busy the day we took Toby. However, Sierra took time to greet us and talked to us about the style we wanted. We didn't want full grooming so she even let us know that there is a different trim option instead of full package - thanks! When I picked up Toby, I was super happy with the result. Honestly, it looked way better than the $170 haircut/bath he got in the past and this time it costed less than $40 without tip. Toby was energetic and happy when he got home which means he didn't have any traumatic experience at Petco. From now on, I know where to go for Toby's bath and haircut! Disgusted and extremely disappointed in our recent experience at Petco grooming. My 10month Saint Berdoodle has had 3 haircuts prior and i've never had an experience like this before coming to Petco. Before I even made it up to the counter, the groomer was disgusted, demeaning and extremely rude the second she saw my puppy. She said "he must be shaved" before even getting his hands on him. We brush him daily. I was aware of some matting on his stomach and his head around the collar but that was it. I was not expecting and specifically asked them not to shave my dog to the skin. I politely kept asking to keep him as along as possible, specifically the head and tail- even when i called to check in on him about an hour in. I do not recommend this groomer for any dogs, specifically larger doodles. Bc of Petco, my dog is now traumatized by a brush and comb. read more

I give 4 stars for the groomers and vetco. My dog is almost 14, Kandi and Casey are amaaaaazing with her and the only people she will allow To cut her nails. They are always super friendly and accommodating and I trust them totally. They just opened a Vetco in the store. Wonderful clinic, Dr. Blanchard and her staff were so amazing, they care about overall quality of life and didn't try to push a bunch of extra services. Not a fan of the store itself, Minus Shane who is amazing and always super personable but they seem to be very understaffed, I came in to make a purchase the other day, took me 10 minutes to get help then the cashier asked Me to wait at the register while she did something else quickly. Absolutely terrible grooming services! If you make an appointment at 7am the doors aren't opened until 7:30am at the earliest. My dog was there for 3 hours and they didn't do anything but wash by that point. He was completely shaved and they claim he was matted even though there was no hair to get matted. I had just completely brushed out my dog's tail myself. When I made the appointment I had told them I needed to get to work by a certain time and they told me my dog would be done within 2 hours. They left him in the kennel to dry for 3 hours and when I picked him up because I couldn't wait any longer since they said it would take another hour at least he was still wet. They were extremely rude and unprofessional. I definitely do not recommend! My groomers at Elegant Dog Groomers right down the street took him in immediately and finished his haircut in 45 minutes and finished drying him with a blow dryer how it should be done. Not by waiting in a kennel for 3 hours! Definitely do not take your dog for grooming at this Petco if you love your dog and want them in good hands. read more

Let me start by saying, we don't have any pets.... However, my dear wife has adopted the neighbor cat... She feels it is not treated as royalty, and it is her mission to spoil this cat. So now she has a Petco card and we have no pets... We end up getting food and flee drops here... the staff is very nice, they really love pets, and can talk about any type and answer any questions. I feel bad for them at times, as pet owners can be a pretty persnikity group. We get a "special" cat food blend every time in, and this is one of the few places to carry it. read more

I have a Kishu that weighs 17lb, he looks like a small Shiba. We have been a loyal customer to Petco for 6 years. Two years ago we moved from California to Oregon, my dog has been charged as a small SHORT haired dog (basic bath $28) every time for 6 years, we also paid extra $20 for de-shedding. Yesterday, we were charged as a LONG haired dog (basic bath $34), that's the price for a large dog. We talked to a groomer and she told us that my dog has a double coat, that's why she charged him as long hair dog. We talked to the manager because we wanted to see where it stated that double coated dogs will be charged $6 extra, and no one mentioned about it in 6 years. He couldn't find anything to show us, but he told us that we were undercharged for the last 6 years from over 10 different groomers located in California and Oregon. We kept returning here for grooming services, despite having bad experience after horrible experience after disappointing experience. We asked them not to cut our Chinese Crested's ears... They lopped them off and the hair never grew back. They repeatedly insisted on shaving our ChiWoodle entirely - if we left even so much as a mat the size of a nail head anywhere on her body - claiming they had no other option. They repeatedly canceled our appointments via 6am text message on the day of service, offering reschedule options another 4-6 weeks out each time. We often arrived for scheduled appointments only to find they were so understaffed that grooming had been closed for the day without notification or that they now weren't going to get to her for 6-8 hours. We scheduled appointments using the app for 7 AM, only to find that grooming doesn't open until 7:30 or 8. We claimed available appointments on the app only to be told upon arrival that there were no appointments available that day whatsoever and they'd just neglected to close online scheduling. Highly, highly, highly recommend driving 2 miles away to the Beaverton Town Center location. Their grooming is amazing... always available... and actually does what you ask them to do. You wouldn't think that's too much to ask... but at the Tanasbourne location, it 100% is. read more

I like Petco, the selection is top notch and the staff is friendly. My dog likes to come here too. They always have our dog food, just wish it was more reasonable for price. The employees are nice and friendly, the only drag is it always seems understaffed or every customer watches me when I am headed to the empty register and they beat me there. I prefer going to Petco since they have many options for food for your pets, fresh, dry and wet. But I'm extremely disappointed at this locations behavior towards my senior dog. I had booked an appointment for my senior dogs bath and haircut because I've heard great things from this service but I get a text saying that due to his age/health they were cancelling my appointment. I called them to get more insight on this and the first call was immediately hanged up on, the second call no one answered. Very rude on their part and disheartening that they are refusing to take care of senior pets. Are you senior pets not deserving of care because of their age??? read more

The last one.they rescheduled Me for same time three days later then told me a different time when I got there I spent allot of gas and time all because they can't seem to get there scheduling right and there workers showing up for work. This Petco is awesome as far as I am concerned. To be totally upfront, I've only been here once. But, Holy Moly, if there could be an exact opposite of e Beaverton Petco (think like super-villain and the exact opposite super- hero) then Beaverton would be the super villain and thank God we have Tanasbourne as the super- hero to get us out of trouble. I was treated nicely when I walked in. I felt like I was at home. I didn't feel out of place. I didn't fully realize how bad it was at the other location, at least on the retail side, until I walked into this store. I was guided back to the Grooming Salon. It was large and clean and bright and the windows were clean, and it was just a good sign of a good working salon. I know my groomer, which is awesome, so she does a fantastic job. I'm just really really glad you are there Tanasbourne. Don't change anything - unless it's bringing in more cool and super nice employees. AND HELPFUL employees. I was guided to the bathroom too. I was NOT made to feel like I really wasn't wanted there. That was a really good feeling. I had no idea I'd been feeling that bad until I was able to experience a good Petco store. Everyone has an opinion, and we need to be honest about our experiences. I hope that anyone that has been wronged, gets reached out to by management to try to repair the damage and turn things around. That is one big thing I think every place of business needs to work on. This post is in regards to their pet grooming services and I have to say they are phenomenal. I was able to make an appointment quickly, we were taken care of in a timely fashion and my pup was fine with them. Maggie was fantastic and explained what she did and how my dog handled it. She made a suggestion for the next visit and I will not hesitate to use them again. My dog does not like having her teeth brushed but Maggie was able to accomplish that too. 5 stars!! read more

Do not bring your pet here!! I brought my dog in on Monday for a full groom. I prepaid with tip as they ask and picked up my dog. Maggie gave him to me and sent me on my way. As I was driving home I noticed blood on my leg and looked to find his nail physically bleeding. That's bad but it gets worse. I called the salon and asked for a manager. I calmly explained the situation and told her I understand things happen but to not tell me is not ok and I want someone to follow up with me regarding how they will ensure this doesn't happen again. She told me it could take up to 48 hours.. ok. I got a call back from Cassie(sp?) today. She told me the salon manager had intended to call me today but bc she was so busy she didn't have time so she called me. She informed me that Maggie had been issued a warning of sorts and that was what they did in these situations. No apology from the actual department manager... she was too "busy". To add insult to injury I requested that my tip be refunded, not the service, as I don't feel I should tip anyone that injured my pet and doesn't have the common courtesy to tell me. She replied that I have to come into to store to have it refunded as they cannot do it over the phone. You better bet I will... the incident was bad. The managements handling of it was appalling. I will tell this story for years to come as an example of how to make a bad situation awful. read more

By far, the worst experience I have ever had at a retail store. I 100% dealt with Paige, the "cat and dog manager". This little girl is terrible. I was getting my two kids a Beta fish. I have working in the animal care field for over 12 years. I have extensive knowledge of animal husbandry. After spending 30 minutes in the store, and never once did I get any help getting any help or offer of. What Paige did decide to do is yell at my 4 year old for tapping on an empty animal cage. I was standing right there. DO NOT ever think that you have a right to speak to my child, especially in a negative tone. I'm standing right there, ask me to ask him to stop. Paige then just happened to be my cashier. While she rang me up, she casually asked If I was going to be getting any water conditioner. I said, no, I have never needed it before. I then attempted to explain that I was planning on using a spring/ distiller water mix. I have always done this and our last Beta lived for 7 year. She interrupted me before I could explain to her why I don't use it and told me that if I don't buy it then she won't sell me the fish. I asked her if she was serious. She responded, yes, if I feel you are going to harm the fish I don't have to sell it to you. I had my 4 year old with me. If we did get the fish he would have lost it! I said that I would get the conditioner. After that little interaction, she started slamming things down. After not getting a reaction out of me, she got louder. So I asked her if she was slamming stuff down because of me or if she is always this rude. She stated that she is always hard on the keyboard. She then started to tell me to make sure I put the conditioner in the water. I told her that I bought it but wasn't planning on using it. I again "while paying" started to tell her what I use for my fish. She flipped out again and threatened to not sell me the fish. My 4 year old was getting very uncomfortable. I was quickly getting angry. I asked her if it was their policy to require unnecessary supplies or refuse to sell them. I asked to speak with the manager and Paige informed me that she was the manager. I grabbed my fish from her. Mine because my payment had gone though. And left. I have thriving Betas at home now, perfectly comfortable in their perfect pH distilled/spring water mix. Paige handled today very poorly. I feel confident in saying that my animal care and husbandry knowledge far exceeds her own. Instead of listening to me, she judges me and basically stated that she thought I was going to abuse the fish because I didn't want to add a chemical into the water. 'LuvMyPet' low-cost vaccinations (not a Petco review). LuvMyPet comes here once a month to give vaccinations, so I took my puppy, Bob. Shots are cheap, ie: $18 for a rabies vaccination. I have always gone here for my other dog's vaccinations, at least when we lived in this area. LuvMyPet is seriously convenient! There is almost always one being held near us within 1-3 days, and you are in and out in minutes. This time took all of 15 minutes? It was almost too fast if you can believe that. I was trying to take a couple of photos for Bob's puppy blog and almost did not have time even when my husband was holding the puppy. I did not even get to see everything real clear because it was so fast. (Yes, I did get two awesome photos. : ) Afterward, they really spent time with Bob when he whined after the shot. Really -- very nice people. The vet a couple of years ago at the same location, a male from Bend, OR, did not have such a nice bedside manner, so I was glad that this lady was awesome as it was a new experience for Bob our 4 month old puppy. read more

It is a Petco, nothing too special about it but from time to time does have good deals on low cost pet vaccinations. Had the dogs nails trimmed there for $10 which was totally worth it because I learned what to use to trims the dogs nails and how to do it. The changed the layout of the store recently which really didn't improve much but simply made it more difficult to find things. I mainly go there to pickup food and treats for the dog. If it wasn't convenient I'd probably not go there. The staff is always friendly and helpful if you ask but they don't go out of their way to help. Prices are pretty much the same as any other pet store prices so no deals to be found at this Petco. Over all it's okay as the rating suggests. read more
