I waited one hour before triage and they let me know there was no veterinarian in-house. I had to take my baby boy (little Chihuahua mix,) to the ER as he took a header into a wall while he played with his brother and had a chunk of face taken out. I rushed him to the ER since I was also concerned with a concussion. He may be a jerk a lot (small dog syndrome, and mostly Chihuahua in his mix,) but he's my 8 year old baby. It was THANKFULLY quiet there. And I called prior to give them our information so we got in in a FLASH. I could NOT believe how at ease my normally anxious and excited dog was. The vet tech had him follow her back without Mom, and no whining, crying or looking back. In the 7 years since I adopted him that's NEVER happened. Not even with family!! The entire staff was so kind and sweet with him and believe it or not our visit did NOT break the bank. It was an hour that it took me almost round trip door to door and that was awesome. My boy got excellent care. And they text me the next day to follow up, which I SO appreciated. Highly recommend. And at the same time, hope I never have to go back! read more

I came here to have my 16 year old cat put to sleep. Everyone was very caring and compassionate from the front desk ladies to the vet and assistants. I could barely get a word out from my crying and we were taken to a nice peaceful room right away. They put my kitty in a nice soft little round bed with a blanket and gave us lots of time to say goodbye. After she passed they took her back and wrapped her up in a white cloth and drew a heart on the wrapping so we could take her home and lay her to rest in our garden. Early Saturday morning my 19 year old Dachshund Caesar was suffering from seizures. I knew that it was the end, and I was struggling with that. The staff was so kind and so compassionate, and they walked me through every step of the way. They were gentle with my pup, and I would trust them with any animal that I ever had! The first place contacted the Tannisbourne and sent all test results and x-rays. Tannisbourne did not see or evaluate for almost 2 hours even though I told the front desk it was an emergency immediately. He died shortly after they finally saw him. I could not be happier with a horrible situation for my fur baby. He was diagnosed at another vet with a growth in his front ankle, cancer. One of the recommendations was tanasbourne. We were given 1-3 months without intervention from both, with Tanasbourne offering a small possibility considering the location of the growth...mainly just letting us know we had the possibility of 2-4 months. My dog just turned 6. Named Eleven - born on 11/11 - wedding date, birthdays ....soul mate to my wife and I Full front limb amputation was suggested and preformed. He was sore and would wine for a couple of weeks, but the pain program they have, seemed to be perfectly on par considering the traumatic surgery that just happened. Almost 6 months later, his surgery has healed perfectly with no signs of cancer. Biopsies during surgery's showed no spread to nodes or other areas. This is what we are told is "a rare" occurrence considering the diagnosis (which was confirmed via biopsy) 80lb fur baby is now jumping in and out of our Jeep, going to the dog park, and more importantly...being here by our side My sincere appreciation to the staff, they made a nightmare bearable. Our most sincere appreciation to our surgeon who chose to be honest/forthcoming of possibilities in addition to staying late into the midnight hours to preform the procedure. Unfortunately, while my first experience with Tanasbourne Vet Emergency in 2022 was outstanding (friendly and empathetic customer service, prompt service, thorough triage), my most recent visit was the complete opposite in all accounts, and incredibly disappointing. Perhaps changes in management or staff? I was prompted by my normal vet to take my pup to Urgent Care immediately. Upon being greeted by the front staff, there was no assessment of my pup's open wound and burst cyst (instead, I was told that they "didn't want to stress him out any further"). After waiting over six hours, with over 33 clients having come and gone (I started counting with the lagging time), I finally went to the front desk to ask for an update, as many owners had come and gone hours after I arrived. After sitting down, the front desk staff then loudly vented about "all the mad people complaining about being at capacity." Although I acknowledge how stressful and frustrating client complaints may be, this lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I do eventually applaud someone from the vet staff who then checked in on me and my pup for the first time in six hours to apologize for the lack of communication, informing me that it would be another 1-2 hours minimum to be seen. Once we finally did see the vet (at 7 hours), it was a great, empathetic experience. The vet was very thorough, tended to my pup with extreme care, apologized for the wait, and answered all my questions. I will most likely never return to Tanasbourne Vet Emergency, despite the excellent service I received three years ago, alongside the great vet experience we finally did receive. The unprofessionalism, extreme lack of communication, and 7+ hours to receive care just isn't worth it. I hope there becomes a reinvestment in the same high level of care, communication, and service I received prior; there are far too little options in the greater Portland area for pet healthcare. We called at 10 PM tonight and Lisa answered and was the most amazing woman to talk to. We were worried about our kitten having an upset stomach, he was eating adult cat food from our other cats and we did not know. She calmed our situation when she could tell I was beyond anxious and said that she is on the phone all night and if we need anything else to let her know. She said that it is completely normal for kittens to have an upset G.I. issue when it comes to eating adult food when their tummy can't handle it . This is the best customer service that I've ever had with a veterinarian hospital. Again, Lisa is an ANGEL and i love her. They saved my dogs life. I didn't know what was wrong with her, she had been sick for a few days at home with nausea and vomiting. I took her in and was told the wait would be 8 hours. She got really sick in the waiting room and they ended up taking her back immediately. Their staff was really kind when I was so sad and scared. She had to stay overnight for two nights and they took amazing care of her and let me call and visit her whenever I wanted. I have had nightmares of having to go to another emergency vet hospital after having a terrible experience elsewhere (Refer to my reviews). I had an excellent experience at this emergency vet hospital. The doctors and staff provided me with exactly how I would like my pet to be cared for. For those on here complaining about wait times I don't know what else you expect from an emergency clinic. If you want them seen sooner try the place I went to the first time and they'll "care" for your pet with 0 communication and with no transparency on cost or payment plans with their scam membership. ThisTanasbourne clinic is a lot bigger than a lot of other ER's I've been to. And as for costs we were able to use care credit and the doctors always identified all expected costs and for an emergency surgery it ended up being several thousand dollars less than expected. Of course this is case by case but again they were always willing to work with our situation while providing the best care option for my pet. read more

She can be afraid of things because of her breed. So We took her in and they said about 20 mins. ( total fine. The Vet tech came in the room took her temperature asked me to lift her lip she he can see her gums. Other than sticking a thermometer in her bum never touched her. They said Dr would be in. I waited over a hour when I finally called the front desk asking if we were forgotten. A very nice lady came in and said a bigger emergency came in. I have no issue waiting but someone could have come and said the wait will be longer we haven't forgotten you. The female vet came in and she barely was the least kind. She seemed bothered we were there. Now before they moved they were the kindest place and felt like they really cared for my pet. I don't know if they have just gotten so big and expanded but sure felt like they didn't care. So after Dr left when she said what she wanted to do. The vet tech came back in and needed payment before they are doing anything. I just felt like they only cared for getting paid. I had no issue of paying but in the past I paid after they took care of my pet. Kind of like. You pay before I touch your loved one. The pictures on the web site do not match the feeling when I was there. Maybe the Dr had a bad day maybe she wasn't but she had me show her on my pet where the issue was. Didn't even try to know my pet. Didn't they and calm her down and make them feel it was a safe place Would I take my pet there in an emergency probably but some friends told me they had this experience with the same vet there. I had to bring my cat in on Thanksgiving weekend due to continuous vomiting. I had to go twice - once for original and then a follow-up as no improvement. First time was busy so had to wait about 2.5 hours - second time was less busy and only about an hour. Saw Dr. Williams and Dr. Goranson and really liked them both. Knowledgeable and treatment plans made sense and were cautious. I didn't feel like I was getting up charged. The lobby was comfortable to wait - the only suggestion would be to try and group cats more on one side and dogs on the other. Would recommend this facility! read more

Had they been even close with accuracy on their quoted wait time, we ABSOLUTELY would have found another place to take our dog. One very good tech named Ashlynn. Ashlynn, the multi-room, large comfortable, clean facility and snacks offered are the only redeemable things. Understaffed. The owner should be ashamed. Whoever manages this place needs to look at these reviews and act. Could serve the community and their pet families SO SO much better. Hire more vets and knowledgeable staff to care for the huge need for quality emergency vet care. Maybe have a side for the intake of Life- threatening emergencies and another side that intakes Urgent/Non Emergencies. Our elderly Great Dane was 100% traumatized by the poor pit bull that came in tripping on magic chocolate mushrooms. Talk about things of your nightmares! We will NEVER go back. $927 bill.
