When that is no longer the case and tough decisions need to be made, we had an excellent experience with Compassionate Care to say goodbye to our pup. Let me start by saying that every administrative and customer service interaction was timely, clear, and concise. The last thing you want in this situation are delays and confusion. Once I reached out through the contact link on their website, the email response with details about their different services happened within 10 minutes. An intake call to make arrangements for a euthanasia visit at our home was answered by a human and only took a few minutes. They recommend making a reservation 48-hours in advance, but we were put on a wait-list and we moved up our reservation when things opened up. I appreciate that you can reschedule (with four hours advance notice) as well. They have a variety of services, Eco-friendly cremation, and memorial pieces. Everything was arranged in advance, including payment through their web portal, so when the vet arrived for the appointment it was all about our boy and his (and our) comfort. Dr. Wilson clearly walked us through the process, gave us time to say goodbye, provided options, and was a wonderful partner in the process. Cremation is done at a facility in N. Portland, but they have the option of picking up the cremains in Oregon City which was more convenient for us. Having gone through this experience with another pet where we took them to the vet's office, I would highly recommend this option for the pet's comfort. It just felt better saying goodbye in a familiar space surrounded by love.

My experience was okay…read more I made a most difficult decision to let my beloved cat go after a long weekend spent almost entirely in ER trying to figure out why he would no longer eat and why his eye was swelling shut. And an even longer two or three weeks before that fighting to get him to eat. Like others here, Kevin was closer to me than my human family. I was busy with the doctors in ER so my partner called in to make the appointment to ease my stress. He said I was primary contact, but it was difficult to make that clear all the way until the day so communications were continually going to him. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it didn't make the experience any easier. This was my cat for 8 years before I met my partner and while he loved my baby, I was the one with the lifelong bond. The doctor showed up within the time window allotted. We both found her a little cold. I felt like we were just a job and everything was done by number. My BF picked up my cat and carried him to me, but the doctor said we should do paperwork first which resulted in me putting him down after building up to do what I deemed impossible. I was emotional and crying. This really should somehow be handled before the visit. There were corrections to be made on the form. I was about to lose my baby and this only made me aware that I was filling out his death warrant. I am utterly heartbroken. I know holding your baby until the last minute is catharsis and closure, but I found it traumatizing. His passing was peaceful at least. Everyone's goodbye will be unique, and my example will not necessarily match what others experience. Everyone we spoke to was professional. I just wasn't feeling the compassion.

Fortunately the lack of reviews on this app didn't stop me from contacting them after learning the difference between standard cremation and Aquamation. Not only is this a less violent process it's a much better process for the environment without ANY drawbacks that I could identify. Joey the owner was truly empathetic to my situation as I spoke to him from the parking lot of Dove Lewis Pet hospital moments after I picked up my baby girl. He offered to pick Dini up from my house (and would have come to Dove Lewis if I had asked him to!) Without any additional charge! The "least expensive" cremation option given to me by Dove Lewis charges an outrageous fee of $200+ to pick up your pet! And they do traditional fire cremation. Joey met me at my house and took great care placing Dini in his van, assuring me that she would be treated with the dignity she and I deserved. Only 5 days later he let me know she was ready to come home. On Christmas Eve he delivered her ashes to me. The total cost for her individual (vs. group) Aquamation including pickup and delivery was $219! Much less than any other option I found and done with the greatest compassion and professionalism. I can't recommend them more highly! It was the bright spot in an otherwise terribly painful experience. Please do yourself and your pet a favor and contact them for any information you need to make your decision. I promise you won't regret it!

We had 17 amazing years with her and she went at home peacefully. But this made finding someone to take care of her remains difficult. Most cremation services only picked up from veterinary offices. The ones that did private care were outrageously expensive...nearing $1000 including transport. They were mostly unhelpful or outright unkind. Then I took a chance and opened the google listing for Oregon Aquamatoon. The owner himself, Joey, answered. He was kind and patient. They were so affordable by comparison and would come to our home to take Lilly. They tagged her with a metal tag that stayed with her. They put her beautiful, pure white sand remains in a lovely bamboo box with her pawprint laser etched with her name. They also gave us beautiful clippings of her fur sealed in a glass bottle. They dropped her back with us at a time that worked with my work schedule so she wouldn't be left alone. They donated her blanket to a cat rescue. I cant say enough about this company. They are heavensent. We miss our girl so much but her transition and final rest were so peaceful.

The cats I've had that died in the past were euthanized at the Vet and the Vet took care of the cremation so I didn't know what to do. I called a few pet crematoriums and then this one. The gentleman on the phone was so nice and empathetic so I chose this one. They're also quite a bit less expensive than the others and the price includes a choice between 2 beautiful Oak Urns. We didn't have the money immediately so we had to put Luna in a freezer. They didn't know we were coming but when we arrived, the lady was right there holding the door open for us. We were taken in to a beautiful and peaceful room with a big mural painting on the wall of Rainbow Bridge and comfy places to sit. She explained the process, had my son and I choose the urn and asked if we wanted clay paw prints and a keepsake of Luna's fur. She then told us she would go out of the room to allow us time with Luna. The price is great, the urns are beautiful, everything in there was beautiful with all sorts of jewelry and keepsakes you can buy that are made using your pets ashes. The entire staff are so caring, compassionate and empathetic. The whole experience made such a hard time a little bit easier. I highly recommend Family Animal Services! RIP LUNA

We were - and still are - heartbroken from her passing so we knew that we had to find a well-respected crematory to handle her final needs. My husband's brother had taken his well-loved dog there upon his passing and the folks at Heavenly Wings had done a splendid job. The dog's ashes are in a beautiful urn in a cherished spot in their family room. We called and set an appointment for the same day our girl passed away. When we arrived for our appointment, we found a welcoming chapel-like entryway where we laid our girl while we made arrangements for her cremation. The staff was so sweet and thoughtful. Robin gently walked us through the process, options, cost, and when we could expect to get our girl's cremains. We picked our dragon princess's ashes up on the day we were told to expect them and they had been beautifully sealed in a lovely tin with a sympathetic note from the staff. A tiny amount of ash is locked in a beautiful necklace with a bejeweled cylinder that my husband wears around his neck now so our girl will always be close to him. When we picked up our girl's ashes, the staff members remarked how cute she was in the purple cape and wizard's hat we had clad her in when we were preparing her for her final trip, the one to Heavenly Wings Pet Cremation. These folks care and it shows. The work they do and the empathy they show for the loss felt by we who remain after our loved one's passing is sincere.

They are also an emergency hospital, which gives me tremendous peace of mind. If we ever face an urgent situation, it's incredibly reassuring to know that her specialty care and emergency services are all under one roof. We had to rush to Blue Pearl and get him treated immediately. While this type of care is expensive, the expertise of the doctors and staff at Blue Pearl is invaluable. When I came in door crying, carrying my pet and covered in blood, the staff compassionately cared for both of us. They offered me a pair of scrub pants to change into and even parked my car that I had left idling in the parking lot when I rushed in. I appreciate the small touches like the coffee machine in the lobby and the Bob Ross channel on the TV, it shows that they are empathetic to how much stress pet owners experience in these situations. My dog received expert care from the surgical team and he's now recovering nicely. Thank you to Blue Pearl!
