Zarbon's remains, certificate, and pendant (optional)
Ismael V.

Like any other pet, the time came for my lovely bearded dragon Zarbon to ascend to her next life. It was a difficult for me and my husband to lose our dragon daughter. For me it was my first time losing a pet/daughter so I was very heartbroken. What wasn't difficult was Heavenly Wings Pet Cremation. Their process was so simple. We were able to set a last minute appointment 30 minutes prior to closing. The interior was immaculate. It was warm and inviting with a lot of love put in. I knew upon setting foot that this was the perfect place to entrust Zarbon to. We were welcomed with open arms. The spirit of all the staff reflect their gentle souls and their passion to be their for our time of need. They treated Zarbon with the respect and dignity that she deserves. The appointment didn't take long. I was able to pick out a lovely pendant that would eventually house a bit of Zarbon's ashes. Though no up-sales were ever forced. Any extras were never forced upon us and was completely up to us. Dropping her off we set Zarbon on their scale to weigh and despite closing in less than 30 minutes we were never rushed and were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye to Zarbon. One week later Zarbon was ready to come home. The care that was put into packaging everything was immaculate. I'm grateful that I was able to bring Zarbon to this lovely sanctuary. From the peaceful sanctuary to the gentle voice and souls of each staff member they have my gratitude. If I could give them 500 stars I would. Their story behind their passion is perfectly reflected on their work. Should you ever lose a family member I strongly recommend Heavenly Wings Pet Cremation.

We recently had to put our hamster down and were in need of cremation services. Heavenly Wings was able to see us the same day we called. The person who took down our information was friendly and empathetic. There were various options available for urns, remembrance boxes, and clay prints.

This review is way overdue! They send my pet here and by them I mean Salem emergency clinic them bastards, anyway first of all this place it's way overpriced and I asked for a paw print of my beloved Toby what I got back was a thing that looked like a kindergarten made. And the container where my beloved Toby's ashes came back to me was a tin that you find at a Dollar tree store. Do they not know that this are not just pets? They are part of our family I still cry when I think of him. Yet they charge me 166.00 for a 11 lbs. doggy I call the manager and she said there's nothing she can do. What I did do was I went to Hobblobby and bought a beautiful wood box for less than 4 bucks painted it, it even had a frame on top to put a picture of Toby It's better. FRIENDS DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED PET HERE AND BUY YOUR box at Hobblobby so much better!!

Heavenly Wings is wonderful and I can't say enough good things to adequately express what a blessing you are in a time of such intense sorrow. Thank you for the kindness and compassion you so lovingly provide to grieving pet owners as well as our beloved family pet of over 16 years, Romeo, who was treated with the utmost kindness and dignity during the final stage of "crossing the rainbow bridge." With our thanks and love, Lisa McLemore and all who loved Romeo so much. I wish you could have been blessed to know Romeo too . He was and always will be such a sweetheart that you couldn't have help but to love. Thanks again! XO

Compassionate Care - in home dog euthanasia

Compassionate Care

When that is no longer the case and tough decisions need to be made, we had an excellent experience with Compassionate Care to say goodbye to our pup. Let me start by saying that every administrative and customer service interaction was timely, clear, and concise. The last thing you want in this situation are delays and confusion. Once I reached out through the contact link on their website, the email response with details about their different services happened within 10 minutes. An intake call to make arrangements for a euthanasia visit at our home was answered by a human and only took a few minutes. They recommend making a reservation 48-hours in advance, but we were put on a wait-list and we moved up our reservation when things opened up. I appreciate that you can reschedule (with four hours advance notice) as well. They have a variety of services, Eco-friendly cremation, and memorial pieces. Everything was arranged in advance, including payment through their web portal, so when the vet arrived for the appointment it was all about our boy and his (and our) comfort. Dr. Wilson clearly walked us through the process, gave us time to say goodbye, provided options, and was a wonderful partner in the process. Cremation is done at a facility in N. Portland, but they have the option of picking up the cremains in Oregon City which was more convenient for us. Having gone through this experience with another pet where we took them to the vet's office, I would highly recommend this option for the pet's comfort. It just felt better saying goodbye in a familiar space surrounded by love.

My experience was okay…read more I made a most difficult decision to let my beloved cat go after a long weekend spent almost entirely in ER trying to figure out why he would no longer eat and why his eye was swelling shut. And an even longer two or three weeks before that fighting to get him to eat. Like others here, Kevin was closer to me than my human family. I was busy with the doctors in ER so my partner called in to make the appointment to ease my stress. He said I was primary contact, but it was difficult to make that clear all the way until the day so communications were continually going to him. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it didn't make the experience any easier. This was my cat for 8 years before I met my partner and while he loved my baby, I was the one with the lifelong bond. The doctor showed up within the time window allotted. We both found her a little cold. I felt like we were just a job and everything was done by number. My BF picked up my cat and carried him to me, but the doctor said we should do paperwork first which resulted in me putting him down after building up to do what I deemed impossible. I was emotional and crying. This really should somehow be handled before the visit. There were corrections to be made on the form. I was about to lose my baby and this only made me aware that I was filling out his death warrant. I am utterly heartbroken. I know holding your baby until the last minute is catharsis and closure, but I found it traumatizing. His passing was peaceful at least. Everyone's goodbye will be unique, and my example will not necessarily match what others experience. Everyone we spoke to was professional. I just wasn't feeling the compassion.

They administered a distemper shot that he wasn't due for and when I called and asked they said my daughter refused the bordatella vaccine even though the notes clearly said the DOG WAS THERE FOR THE BORDATELLA VACCINE!!! So when my daughter dropped our dog off to be kenneled she had to sign a waiver saying the kennel isn't responsible if our dog gets kennel cough (which is what bordatella is for). UNBELIEVABLE!! And horrible customer service. Whoever answered the phone kept talking over me and absolutely nothing was resolved. She kept saying "your daughter refused the shot" which is absolutely ridiculous because that's the shot we were there for!! WILL NOT BE BACK!!

On the top of the file it said watch your language with client he is sensetive. Later it made several references to my being confused and even placed exclaimation points when indicating I dare call again!! a tacky at best, way to chart in a medical record. I came to the office due to my dog having bloody diarrhea. They asked me to provide fecal matter for testing. After the test they said she had a bacterial infection compounded by colitus. They recommeded two different rounds of anti biotics and anti inflamatories and a special diet. I had been giving her a bland diet prior to bringing her in and the blood lessened but later they took credit and said I told them she was improving. Soon after starting their recommedation she worsened. The first day I saw Dr. Genova in passing and I said I'm really afraid she's going to die and though I tried to put on a brave front I was near tears as Dr. Genova smirked and said "We're all going to die". Though she had clearly lost weight Dr. Genova said she looked "fine". As my dog wasn't improving I asked for an appointment and/or repeatedly asked to talk to the doctor. Mary Ann stated I needed to continue with the meds and diet and she would relay any information to me from Dr. Genova and would relay my concerns to him. Long story short within weeks and particularly after starting the recommed food she had a horrible bout of bloody diarrhea . She began vomiting soon after and would not eat. I then immediately rushed her to an emergency animal hospital where by just manually checking her lymph nodes, looking at her pale gums and doing a very rudimentary ultrasound followed by another more sophisticated one and a biopsy indiated that cancer had spread thoughout her body and she needed to be put down. This whole ordeal all occured within about one months time. The emergency hospital seemed appalled by her condition and were wonderful and very compassionate to my dog and to me. When I called the office aking to relay the fact my dog died to Dr. Genova and Mary Ann the person I taked to didn't bother to even say sorry for your loss. I don't blame the Pet Clinic for the cancer but I do blame them for the neglect and her needless added suffering. By the way my "confusion" was actually panic as I sensed the utter lack of compentancy, professionalism and compassion we recieved there.

The day was so hard and I just didn't want to let him go. He was my heart, my best boy. We were treated with compassion, respect and knew we were leaving him in good hands. He was terrified of people but came to trust us as we cared for him. He declined quickly and we made the tough decision to say goodbye at Wilvet South. They work with this company and sent Junior to them with our permission. We got an email from WCPM less than an hour after Junior was gone. We took a couple of days to grieve and process and made the selections on the website. We chose the photo urn and a clay pawprint. We submitted our choices and paid on 4/28, two days after Junior left us. He was cremated on 5/1 and we didn't receive notification that he was ready until 5/6. Longer than expected, but maybe they're very busy right now. My partner went and picked Junior up. We live very close so it was convenient. He said the person he talked to was friendly and the process was quick: just sign a form and you get your pet back. Junior was in a velvet bag that was placed inside a paper gift bag. His pawprint was in a case similar to a jewelry case. There was an unmarked envelope that contained a certificate of cremation, which was a bit unexpected. We were expecting a card or something nice, not something so....clinical. The urn is fine, it looks a bit cheap. You have to unscrew it from the bottom and see your pets ashes in a bag if you want to put a photo in it. That's a bit much for us so we are going to see if we can slot a photo of our special boy in through the front of the frame instead. The thing that really dropped my rating happened today, the day after we brought Junior home. I was cleaning up and dealing with the bags left over after we put Junior on our mantle. The velvet bag has cremains on the outside of it. I picked it up and immediately touched the cremains of a pet, and I'm choosing to tell myself that it's not my Junior because that would break me in ways I can't even describe. It was clear that whoever packed our boy up put the bag on a surface that had cremains spilled on it. The cremains looked and felt like both ash and ground up bone. I immediately felt sick to my stomach and felt like I was going to pass out. What kind of careless person spills someone's beloved pet, doesn't clean it up, and then puts a pretty bag that goes to the client on top of that? How do you not immediately clean up something like that? Is the work area such a mess that this is unavoidable? Do they just spill cremains all over the place? Do they empty the cremulator all over a countertop and just sweep the remains into a plastic bag? What are they doing that this happened? It's completely unacceptable and the several people I've told about it have agreed. It was incredibly upsetting in the moment and now I'm just furious that these people were careless enough to allow it to happen. I would not allow WCPM to take care of another pet of mine when they're gone. We didn't have a choice this time, but next time I'm going to make sure we do. I can't go through seeing and touching that again. Do better, West Coast Pet Memorial.
