I received an email asking for a survey after my recent PetSmart visit. This part of the email got me: "Pets can't take surveys. But you can." And I realized... I can take a few minutes to write a survey / review. Plus I've been coming to PetSmart for years for my family dogs (s/o Cali & Apollo!) BUT this time is different as my visit was for my recently adopted kittens "I recently got two kittens and as a first time cat owner I did not own any cat supplies. I knew the basics that I would need but I got everything I needed and more from PetSmart! I was impressed with the selection of products and the cleanliness of the store. Friendly staff. I was asked if I needed help finding anything. Since I was getting a lot of supplies (more than I had anticipated), the staff kindly let me leave my full (and heavy) basket at the cash register so I could continue shopping without having to carry my basket all over. It really eased my way and provided a calmer shopping experience. The associate at the register informed me of the PetSmart app and helped me create an account which was easy as 1, 2, 3! She was nice and friendly! I felt nervous purchasing so many items and was worried about what other people might think... but the register lady was very kind and helped to load my shopping cart. I'm not sure if she could tell or sense I was nervous... but she eased my nerves by congratulating me on my kittens and asking about them (which I was more than happy to share!)" Ambiance *** Cleanliness ***** Service *** I started going here vs the other big box pet store mainly because they always have the pet food variety I want for our dog. I have been frustrated elsewhere trying to get our picky dog the food he will eat and it has been here every time I go in. The store is also very clean, a little cluttered which is pet peave of mine, trying to navigate aisles and customers (and pets). Stores need to stop filling the aisles with product. (Past life I was a grocery manager). Employees in the store tend to ignore you, but the cashiers are polar opposite and make me leave with a smile. read more

Nice location, ample room in the aisles if you bring your doggo along. The training room in the back of the store is apparently bigger than other locations, which drew me here. The trainer so far has been fantastic. Friendly, confident with dogs, lots of good tips that were outside of the PetSmart training booklet that they give you. The daycare/boarding pickup area is next to the training room entrance and gets a little crowded. After a class, my pup and I ran into so many dogs crowded around the desk who were waiting for their owners to finish checking out of daycare. It was overwhelming for my dog. If they can work on a better system for that (maybe do all the administrative stuff with the owner before taking the dog out) would help so much read more

I took my dogs to spend two nights in the Petsmart Hotel. When I picked them up, they reeked of urine and our white GSP had urine stains on her back flank from having laid in urine. This is no way to treat animals. It is unacceptable that dogs do not have sufficient breaks to urinate or defecate outside. We absolutely will not leave our dogs there again. read more

They cancelled our small dogs grooming appt 10 mins prior stating that they can no longer take dogs that have a heart ailment( well managed for years) even though they've groomed her before AND the online questionnaire had been filled out a week ago!! Banfield is no longer in store and they will stop carrying my prescription dog food soon. Will find somewhere else for our 3 dogs needs. read more

I'm gonna start with I love to give positive reviews you hear about the negative so often it's hard to believe. I've been taking my dog to PetSmart for quite some time I would say over two years. I've never had any negative experiences. My dog never seemed frightened after she left. I get a call about an hour to two hours later thinking wow that was a really short grooming session. She's a standard poodle. It takes a bit longer. Only to hear the shattering news that she's at the vet due to multiple lacerations from the groomer Daley S. I ran to the emergency vet as soon as I could. She looked so scared half groomed with about 4-5 lacerations on her legs. Keep in mind my dog is about 5 1/2. This is never happened before she's never had a problem with grooming. My biggest concern was why didn't you stop at the first laceration and call me? Our pets are probably the most compassionate things that we have around us and to see her hurt broke me. It took me about 2 1/2 months to write this review because I've been so angry. I would strongly suggest not to go to this PetSmart moving forward. They stated that this has happened multiple times recently. I sent this review in simply to keep you aware of who you're bringing your dogs to. The choices, of course yours. Now I'll be learning to groom my sweet baby girl moving forward. read more

We bring our dog here for nail trims and have been for years now. We've had a mixed bag of experiences ranging good to not so good but mostly positive and the groomers all really seem to love my baby. He's elderly and crusty so them being sweet and gentle is important to us. Most recently we brought him in and everything was fine until we got home and noticed a few nails were missed. No biggie really, mistakes happen. Next time I knew I could bring him in I called and booked an appointment and mentioned the missed nails and if they wouldn't mind double checking this time. The lead or manager, Brittany?, ended up doing his trim for free. I'm sure most people would expect that but we didn't. We were prepared to pay as it had been a week or two since the miss. She did a fantastic job, and was able to use it as a teaching moment for the previous groomer who missed the nails. I'll say that we all hear horror stories about petsmart grooming, we only use it for nail trims... but this store seems to have a handful of amazing groomers, they always remember us. They notice when his skin has improved or when something is a miss that we haven't noticed and have always been gentle and kind to our old man. read more

Great care for my pup! Scheduled a puppy bath but they found her spay incision was infected so they couldn't bathe her. They were able to cut her nails free of charge. Very kind staff and you can tell they love dogs! read more

We have been using Petsmart grooming since 2018. We have an older Lhasa Apso and the manager Jesse would groom her. And she was excellent and at the Petsmart on 25th since we lived in Hillsboro until 2022. We continued to bring her to that store until Jesse quit. We made an appt with Petsmart on 185th in Beaverton yesterday at 12:30. We got there at 12:05 and they wouldn't take her. (The other location took her an hour before) They said they had the cages but our groomer was at lunch so just wait. So we waited 25 minutes and walked in and there were four women there. Two grooming, two standing. Not a single person acknowledged us while we stood at the counter. Six minutes later someone new comes from the back and is going to take our dog but did not greet us or welcome the dog. Admittedly, I was already annoyed and while not rude, not as warm as normal. I was sharing about our dog, being older, tried making a few jokes about nails getting done and getting fussy as we get older. Everything was received with literally no change in her expression. I told her while our dog could get a little fussy about her feet, we've NEVER had a groom not finished. She took our dog saying maybe ten words to us and Ellie. They called an hour later and said THEY were at their limit with Ellie and we should come get our dog. We paid online, we tried to pick her up and got questioned about payment. Two women, were standing there, did not greet my wife, did not explain what happened, would not answer in regard to whether our dog was ok, just got our dog and pulled up the account and wanted a credit card. My wife showed them our online receipt, and they questioned her about the receipt. They asked for payment again and she reiterated that she already paid and showed them the receipt a second time. My wife went to leave with the dog and the second woman raised her voice and said "are you gonna pay or what??!! " My wife reacted to the accusation that she was taking the dog without paying and said "what the %#}, I'm not stealing 1/2 a groom, I PAID!! " And walked out. (Not the best response but understandable at that point) Our dog came out tail tucked and head down. She typically gets an all over hair cut, including face and tail very very short and now our poor pup looks like she's wearing leg warmers and a toupee. Worst customer service and grooming. She has gotten a hair cut every three-four months for 14 years and has never had 1/2 a hair cut. UPDATE: Petsmart 185th banned us. What a joke. read more

I am absolutely disgusted by the care of the fish at this store. I purchase a lot of items from this company, but am now planning to take my business elsewhere. During my visit I found 2 dead betta fish in filthy cups, 3-5 sick bettas in filthy cups, and any "healthy" bettas were obviously not being cared for and were also in FILTHY cups. I only took a picture of one of the fish, but the other dead fish was a red veil tail. When I brought the dead fish to the staff and asked for a manager, I was treated very poorly. When speaking to an associate and to, who I'm assuming was a manager since they never introduced themselves, they literally took the dead fish from me and walked away without a word. There was no, "thank you for bringing this to our attention", no telling me how they were going to help the sick animals, no telling me how they would improve care in the future, nothing. I am so sickened by the cruel conditions this store is allowing these animals to exist in and the extreme lack of care from the staff. This is my neighborhood Petsmart. It is ok. My thoughts: -There is not usually more than one register open. Sometimes this is annoying. -They don't always have what I need in stock. Like their house brand litter ( not there the last two visits so I had to go to Cedar Hills) and the roasted Turkey Fancy Feast our beastie likes best. - The music is too damn loud. Always. -The parking lot is hazardous. - It's full of dogs. I'm sure dog people like this however. Not being much of a dog person it can occasionally be a bit much. But otherwise their reward program and coupons are ok. And it's pretty easy to get in and out. And they have rescue cats up for adoption. Oh and their toy and accessory selection is pretty good. We took our 5 month old Aussie here for her first grooming experience! If you know Aussies, you know they develop a lot of hair and fluff in some tricky areas, namely their butts. ‍ So since her hair was getting long down there, we decided to bring her in. We booked with Hannah G., who this review is mostly for. Hannah greeted us and helped check us in right away for our 12:30 appointment. She got down on the floor to introduce herself to our pup, who is both shy and excited when meeting people. Hannah explained to us what her haircut package entails and we showed her a photo of what we would like - a smooth backside with no other hair cutting, since our girl is still a pup with growing hair. Hannah was friendly and professional and whisked our pup off for her appointment. We picked up our pup three hours later (no problem, Hannah quoted us between 3-4) and she looked PERFECT. She smelled so good, her fur was shiny, and her butt fluff was no longer in tact! We are so appreciative of Hannah and the whole grooming team who checked us out and gave us a report on how our girl did for her appointment. This review is for the grooming salon at the Tanasbourne location. I admit, I brought my Husky here to be bathed and brushed because my regular groomer was on vacation. I was reluctant to bring him somewhere new, because of past bad experiences. Huskies take longer to groom because of brushing out their coat and drying time, and time is money to a groomer. I spoke to Liza (who was his groomer) on the phone and in person, and she was so reassuring and kind. My concerns were gone. His appointment took 3 hrs...which is normal for a husky. I was so pleased with his grooming! His fur was bright and white again and brushed so well, he looked like he lost 10 lbs.! LOL! More importantly, he was completely DRY! His nails were trimmed short and filed smooth. He looked great and didn't smell of dog perfume...something I really dislike. I wanted to Thank Liza in person, but she had gone to lunch. I also called the next day but she was off. So the best way to Thank her is to leave a positive review. I know I will be asking for Liza's services again. I recommend her to anyone, especially if you have a double coated pup. read more

My BEAUTIFUL mini Aussie's haircut was absolutely butchered by Ivy and the others there. Absolutely cannot believe how bad they did cutting his hair. I specifically told them that he has been seeing someone through PetSmart and if they had any questions to call me or the other location BEFORE making cuts. His coat and fluffiness are part of who he is and they just completely disregarded everything I said. They claimed they had to shave his entire neck because of mats, there were NO mats on the back of his neck. I've been taking him to the Cascade Station location for 3 years and they have done an AMAZING job. Took a leap of faith and took him here since we just moved nearby and regret my decision. They have groomed our pets many times. But Saturday my husband took our fur baby to get groomed and she has panic attacks just as she entered the store ( not the shop). A groomer ran out and said they couldn't take her because she was foaming at the mouth and the time of the appointment. But she didn't sound concerned, she was rude and snotty . We later get a email stating her appointment was canceled? No shit! They refused to take her. We will never take our pets there or Petsmart again. read more

Yvonne was so exceptionally rude when I went in looking for a tank stand. Asked me if she could help me with anything and when I told her I needed an items stock to be checked she acted super inconvenienced and immediately walked away talking to another employee, couldn't even be bothered to tell me herself that it was "out of stock", I don't think she was gone long enough to even check plus the website says this location still has some in stock. Never felt so disrespected at a petsmart. Absolutely unprofessional and just overall rude. This review is based on my experience with the PetsHotel, but the second star is for this Banfield location. I am officially pissed off. Never have I been so angry at a pet store chain. I mean, even selling dogs from a puppy mill probably doesn't piss me off this much (well, eh...). I had been emailing and calling kennels in the area for 2 days prior to coming here as a last resort. None of the independent kennels ever got back to me, and we were leaving for an overnight visit on the coast, so I needed a place ASAP. I've never boarded my dog in the 6 and a half years I've had her, so it was hard enough thinking about it. I called the PetsHotel at this location and was told I couldn't board her without at least 48 hours and they transferred me to the Banfield desk for overnight (unsupervised) boarding. I had my roommate drop my dog off (they forgot I said BANFIELD) and they had no problem checking my dog in at PetsHotel. Hmmmm... Long story short, my dog has dry eye and needs eye drops every few hours or eye balm (which I provided, along with a note explaining this, and my roommate explained it). Luckily, she was only there for a little over 24 hours, but she came out with the biggest crusty goops. I know what it looks like when her eyes are bad, but they were horrible, and the whites of her eyes were blood red and irritated. My dog is very, very important to me. An overnight visit for $50 worth of not being cared for is just too much. Board your dog with Banfield and pay $31 instead of $50 and they'll at least give your dog the treatment required for whatever issue they may have (although there's no one overnight). I probably won't board my dog ever again. I can't imagine how stressed and horrible she felt. read more

My pup goes to daycare here, and he likes it. It's great for the price! I do wish I had more insight into what my dog did every day and HOW he did, if he had any issues, "talked a lot" etc. They do a ton of super cute "parties" and you get a photo of your pup. The rooms are small, but this is great for the price and the staff does a good job of spreading out pups when needed. read more

The Pet Training here is a waste of time. It is in a small airless room that does NOT have adequate ventilation. Although I am vaccinated it did not feel safe regarding Covid .Also the training takes place next to the pet hotel so there was nonstop barking..hard to hear instructor and stressful for my dog. The training method is basically bribe your dog with treats. I was not impressed with the instructor or their presumptuous attitude. Not recommended. read more

I always choose PetSmart over competitors because I have pet health insurance through Banfield. I get my dog's food and supplies at Petsmart and am always happy with the service I receive when it comes to finding what I need for my pet. Store is well kept and has a large selection of food for dogs. I check online for food ratings. It would be helpful to have a food guide in the store to help choose a food brand for my pet. read more

Review is for Groomers. First time bringing my long hair torti to this location. Staff were friendly, salon area was clean and tidy and they were ready for us when we arrived. Amy was amazing and did a fantastic job! Cut was even and the tapering and details were exactly what I asked for. Very pleased- and kitty seems pretty proud of her new cut as well. A bit pricey, $61 for a lion cut but well worth it, I'll definitely be back! read more

Rude managers, rude employees. This place has went down hill in the last two months. They've gotten rid of all the nice people they had. A manager the other day wouldn't even honor a manufacturer's coupon from my dogs vet, I ran into cedar hills and they did and said they always honor those. She tried to tell me " she wouldn't get credit" - on top of that their prices are always higher then the other Petsmarts. I live close to this one but have decided I will be avoiding this one from now on. I used to come here three times a week but I will drive 20 more minutes just to avoid the rude employees. read more

This review is for the PetSmart Hotel. I do not recommend it. I have two, small, 10 year old dogs. Both receive comprehensive exams every 6 months. Both receive vaccines on time. Both are very healthy dogs and act much younger than their actual age. I took them for the first time ever to be boarded at the Hotel over the weekend. About 24 hours after picking them up, one dog spent the night vomiting, and the other wakes up with one of her eyes crusted shut. The vomiting dog continued to vomit for over 2 days and had to be seen by the vet. The other was also seen by the vet and it turns out she has an eye infection. Only unsanitary conditions could of caused these two things to happen. I can't even imagine. Please, hire people who take the cleanliness of your facility seriously. read more

I am a regular at this store and when I came in, the manager Hannah was so rude to me. I shop at the store all the time, and I had to exchange some thing that I didn't have a receipt for (under 60 days ago) and she told me that she Will not exchange or return anything without a receipt under any circumstances. I looked up the Petsmart return policy website and it said that without a receipt, and an ID, they can do a exchange for the latest sale price. When I told Hannah the return policy, she told me that she has the right to refuse service to anyone. I asked her why she would say that or refuse service to me only because of an exchange, and she said that that's her decision. Luckily, after a bunch of scrambling, I was able to find my receipt through my emails and another staff member took care of me. Hannah made me feel so bad and so upset, as if I had stolen something from them. Petco is right down the street from this store. Very nice PetSmart does get very busy but is nice and organized. A lot of the stuff is very expensive though. When we got my dog we went to PetSmart to buy him some food and toys etc. but everything was so expensive we ended up spending 100 dollars for 7 things but then when I checked pet I it was much cheaper and so was chewy read more

My Dog is very scared and nervous went it comes to getting her nails worked on. Every time I bring her here they are so good with her. They hug her and cuddle her while getting the job done. I'm always treated with respect and they take time to listen to me when I tell them about her nerves. We have never had a bad experience at this PetSmart. I trust them with my dog. read more

I have been buying all of my pet supplies here for years. The staff has always been knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. In the last few years, I have been bringing my 2 dogs in for boarding, dog daycamp and some grooming needs. My dogs can not wait to get in there! Everyone in the store knows us and our dogs, and always provide the best care. I know if I have a question it will be answered with valid information from any of the friendly staff or they will find out. Often you see the manager Doug on the floor- always cheerful and helpful. Our dogs go in once a week for doggie day camp to play, and both of the dogs cannot wait to play and it's apparent that the dogs are loved and love back with ALL of the staff. Plus our dogs stay there 2x a month and are well taken care of and all of our wishes are respected. They get all of our doggie business from food, toys, day care and boarding needs. read more

So... We had taken our dog to the PetsHotel at least 2 other times for almost 2 weeks each time. Everytime I'd drop her off she'd be happy and she'd be more than willing to jump onto the arms of whoever was at the front desk. Everytime I'd pick her up she'd be her normal happy self. This last time I took my dog in, the front desk girl that checked my dog in she had this very forced "nice" attitude, the kind that one sees when someone really really hates their job and everything in it... This last time, my dog was literarily scared of the girl at the front desk, my dog just didn't want to go with her. . When it came time for the girl at the front desk to take my dog, she just grabbed my dog by the scruff, and yanked her out of my grasp. I was like WTF?!?! I know that grabbing them by the scruff doesnt really hurt them, however, WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO HASTILY, especially in front of THE CUSTOMER??? Anyways... Booked the dog for 3 weeks @ PetsHotel. We got a call once 3 days into the reservation as there had been a misunderstanding when we'd pick our dog up. Other than that there was NO other contact from the PetsHotel staff. When it came time to pick our dog up, after 21 days our dog was SCRAWNY. She is a Chihuahua Mix. She was 10lbs going in (took her to the vet a couple of days before), and she came out @ 8lbs (took her to the vet a day later for some shots, which she did not get cause she was took skinny). You could see her ribs, every bone of her backbone, AND she came out with a mean rash on her ears... To top it all off her behavior changed, now if we raise a hand while going to grab something For her size and weight @10lbs, our vet said that our dog was "just right", and to see our dog like a bag of bones and skin was just upsetting. Our vet did mention that sometimes dogs get stressed/depressed, and that they don't eat, but our dog has a VERY healthy appetite, and even at times that we've left her at relative's houses she's had NO problem eating, even if our dog had never seen them before. I went back to the PetsHotel desk and asked more about our dog's stay there, and girl (same girl that checked her in) was like no, everything was normal, she ate and played, and slept fine. Then i asked if she ate all her food, then she was like: "oh, no, she only ate about half. She only picked at her food." If your dog wasn't really eating, wouldn't you call the owner to let them know??? IF there was ANY issues wouldn't you inform the owner? For the $600 that we spent there for 3 weeks. I would've expected MORE from them. PLUS another $130 on the vet bill to treat her rash, and to check her for any issues. NEVER taking my dog there again. Will even spread the word to my friends and relatives. The condition of how my dog was returned was UNACCEPTABLE. read more

This is a tricky rating - it's about 3.5 but I just can't push it up to 4. As with most pet stores, nothing it cheap but you can find some great deals if you're looking. Especially on dog toys after a holiday - because your dog doesn't care if it's January and she's getting a Santa clause toy as long as it squeaks. Mainly, we use the grooming center for my pug to get her nails trimmed & grounded. It's not too expensive and most of the time they do a great job. They even tolerate when my pug decides to banshee scream like she's losing a leg instead of an inch of sharp, pointy nail. It's embarrassing as a pet owner, but she doesn't fool the groomers one bit. My girlfriend comes here for bird items (also pricey as she points out) but it's the most convenient locale. read more

Everytime we go to this store we get mistreated. Store staff is not helpful at all. Groomers won't do the job if they find mats in your dog's coat and are only willing to shave them down completely; they disregard what you want as an owner. We paid for the behavior classes and the trainer was very rude and not very helpful. Needless to say that they kept postponing our class. Our dog was getting very stressed out and she wasn't very comforting. We skipped the last two sessions because of our dissapointment and she wouldn't even call to check in. We pay each month for the Banfield Wellness plan. We've had a few emergencies with our dog and they are NEVER able to see him. You're standing in line, worried sick, and they ignore you, and they end up referring you to Tanasbourne Emergency or the Clackamas clinic. Geez, I'm getting so much for my money! And they never have any problem getting it from my account... yet, I always have problems accessing their services. Except for the manager, everybody else has HORRIBLE customer service and not very caring service to pets. Changing providers ASAP. read more
