I want to start by saying Dani, the trainer, was very helpful and provided great feedback in forms of video sent via text. Truly the only good thing about my experience here. My aussie got her first heat cycle at 8 months and I was told she was allowed back in a few weeks once her cycle was complete. She was attending day care and training sessions a couple times a week. Unfortunately, I had some other personal matters come up and will be moving so I asked for a refund. They will not offer a refund on services and offered store credit instead. Okay, fine. I scheduled a weekend boarding to use up my remaining credit and I get a text this morning asking if my dog was spayed, if not she was not allowed to return. I understand the need for the policy but I was never made aware and was told previously by a staff member it was not necessary. I am not in a position to get her spayed right now, plus I am moving states next month. They still refuse to offer a refund of nearly $300. That is a good chunk of money that apparently they intend to keep. Doesn't matter that store credit never expires, I will not be able to use it. They made a mistake with lack of employee knowledge on policies and refuse to right their mistake and now stealing my money. This is wrong. I was emailing the owner back and forth and I am disappointed with their handling of this situation. I had my dog groomed and bathed on 2 separate occasions and she came back with mats and not dried properly. Some staff members were very standoffish and unwelcoming at drop off. There is no access to cameras and I was denied access to the facility to see where my precious pup would be. I do not recommend this facility. read more

Yogi has been going to Barklandia for both daycare and grooming services for about 7 months. Both services are excellent. Yogi is so excited every time we pull into the parking lot. He has friends. (We sign in on occasion and watch him playing through their live-stream site.) And Jessica does an excellent job grooming our adorable mixed breed pup! Well, This time we left him for weekend boarding. Barklandia is still top dog in our book! They accommodated his special diet without any reservations, and he played the entire weekend. How can we tell? He's exhausted. After his initial excitement of being home, he went straight to his bed. Yogi only does this when he's exhausted. We requested an exit bath, so of course he got one. Because he's been going to Barklandia for daycare, we had no concerns about leaving him for the weekend. It's obvious the entire staff loves dogs. They have proven to be honest and trustworthy! We recently rescued our dog and were nervous to send him to daycare, but the Barklandia staff has been so reassuring and helpful in getting him acclimated through the process. Only a few weeks in and it's now his favorite place to go! What's been awesome too is that we were able to get the training package where Scottie has been able to work with the trainer Dani while he's at daycare. After several visits, I can honestly say that I give this establishment a 1 star. The initial 2 hour visit was decent, not much to go on-as to be expected. The first visit should have been our last. Upon watching the livestream video, there was absolutely no interaction, shooing dogs away, and many dogs, including ours, were constantly checking the doors to leave. We tried it again hoping that it was just a bad day and I had a phone conversation with one of the staff members that really reassured me. Today was no better if not worse. Though the beginning seemed promising with ball throwing, it then became a day of our 9 month old puppy in and out of a kennel-along with other dogs. Then, ALL dogs in the large daycare disappeared for around 2.5 hours. Upon returning, the dogs seemed happy and one in particular was given a lot of attention and even picked up and swung around as the others begged (hopping on their back feet) to be given attention. Not sure if this was a staff member's dog as this dog was the only dog given pets throughout the day. Given my husband and I were checking the livestream on and off; we were a tad curious as to where our dog was for 2.5 hours and why he was in and out of a kennel in the morning. When my husband picked up our dog, he inquired as to where our dog was, assuming good intentions, he asked him if they took him for a walk. They said "No, he seemed tired so we kenneled him". Mind you, our dog and at least 10 others, were MIA for about 2.5 hours! He asked if he had misbehaved (due to the morning kenneling here and there) and was told he was perfect-not to mention we were watching here and there (yes, creepy but we were curious and wanted to ensure our dog was at an reputable place). Our pup is timid, wants endless attention, loves to play with other dogs, and is decently smart for reference. Adding in that they were randomly caging our dog and other dogs during the morning, we estimate that our dog spent 3 hours out of 6 in a cage! We decided on a doggie daycare 1-2 times a week for socialization and to avoid boredom at home. Our dog has never chewed anything at home and is actually fine alone. We were simply wanting him to have fun while we are at work. To conclude this, I was warned as my friend witnessed her dog being hit on camera years back. We took that with a grain of salt and chanced it anyways given these Yelp reviews. Good things ahead as a new doggie daycare is opening near Burger King off of Scholls in a few months! read more

My dog and I had a very pleasant initial meet and greet experience with the Barklandia team. They were very professional, welcoming, and definitely addressed all of our concerns. I anticipate that I will be utilizing their doggy daycare and pet hotel services in the near future. Conveniently, I had asked the associate when I started the meet and greet if there would be any convenient opportunities for grooming to be done today as well, they stated that they typically book approximately one to two weeks out. Approximately one hour into the two hour meeting greet session, I received a text message notification stating that, one of their grooming appointments had canceled and they were wondering if I would be able to work with them for same-day grooming. I was so excited to bring my new puppy here for some possible daycamps based on tons of great reviews. When there's lots of favorable comments but it doesn't match my own experience I will still assume positive intent and just that it was an off day for a person place or business, and give them a second try. My attempts with Barklandia unfortunately still didn't match up with what I was expecting based on confusion and mis communication. I want to hope that maybe whomever was reading our paperwork was just really busy with all the pandemic dogs both times I talked to them, causing me to simply say forget it. Details below. This summer I contacted Barklandia and was told to submit my pups information on their portal and they would follow up with a temperament meet and greet time. Before the meet and greet they asked for my pups' vaccinations - which I promptly sent. Then, things took a confusing turn. I got a text calling me Gabriel (not my name) saying her Rabies shows as being administered within four days of her appointment day and we needed to reschedule if so (not accurate, her vaccines were a month ago). I was also confused why I got this text because I left a message five days prior, to reschedule. I was even more confused after replying to them with all of these corrections and never hearing back...??? The final straw was getting another text I assume from an automated system two days later saying my dog has an upcoming appointment. Uh what. Again, I am sure the care and facilities are as awesome as yelpers and doggos suggest, but I never made it past the scheduling issues with them and it made me worry if they couldn't keep those facts straight that I would have to continue fixing other things after becoming a client. Maybe I will try again next year if I really need some alternate options. read more

I love this place! The owner and staff are great and take great care of my boy! They have three great spaces with plenty of room to run and play but if they need a break they've got spots they can go to. The play areas are kept clean constantly and the staff is always there to make sure everyone is playing safely. My corgi loves the dogs and humans and everyone we get there he could care less about saying goodbye to me because he knows he's going to have a blast. For me it's great to know he's well taken care of and that he's exhausted for at least a day or two! (In a good way) If you're looking for a great daycare this is the place! She's very particular, and I would have known right away if there were any problems as she's not one to keep her opinions to herself. I've tried quite a few doggy daycares in the Portland and Beaverton area and none have made my greyhound excited to come in and leave just as happy like he does and Barklandia. He's usually nervous to go through the door at other daycares and racing to leave at the end of the day. My favorite thing about this day care Is that they have a calm dog area and nap times which really make a perfect experience for my boy because he's not the kind of dog who plays hard. Second favorite thing: Webcams :) Everyone there is super caring and he's loved going to Barklandia where other daycares he's bummed to be there. The breeder went to pick her up for a veterinarian appointment on the fifth day she was totally matted and her paws were soaked in urine. I will s the middle of a Mexican Riviera cruise I have to stop everything try to find somebody that would groom her immediately contact my daughter to pick her up and take her to be grooms I felt horrible when my daughter picked her up she said that she smelled so bad she almost threw up also because they do not have outside potty facilities since I've brought her home she is putting on the carpet and forgetting how to use the doggie door so we are having to start potty training all over again and to top it off they charge the wrong credit card and we've been having to deal with that read more

I usually drive across town to the doggy daycare I usually use, but today, it was convenient to use Barklandia (which is much closer to my house). I remembered when they started, there was a 2 hours for $7 rate, which stresses me out because I have to be back at a certain time, rather than being charged for the amount of time I use (like my favorite daycare does). I mentioned this to Matthew, the counter guy, who assured me that, as Barklandia gets 50 dogs a day, they had no need to make it convenient. He pinched his nose to remember what the owner had said, and then relayed that it was because it would be annoying to have dogs coming in and out all the time. Right. Cool... The need to put leashes on and off dogs and collect people's money sounds very complicated... I would think that at 50 dogs a day, at $30 per day, the $1500 in profits PER DAY would be plenty, so naturally there would be no need to actually make the service convenient for customers... I mean, for that price how could you afford to pay another highly skilled dog leashing professional like Matthew? He did assure me that they allow for a grace period of 15-30 minutes on the timing, especially if you call and are really cutesy and assure them that you'll "be there soon!!!" Cool. Thanks. I confirmed that the price was $7 for two hours and left. I tried to re-arrange my plans to get the full value of my two dog hours, since I'd be paying for them no matter what, but ended up coming back a half an hour early. Well, turns out that the price is actually $7 PER HOUR, which, of course, even though I had SPECIFICALLY ASKED and COME BACK A HALF AN HOUR SOONER (which, per our previous conversation, which obviously he did not recall at all would have been within the grace period) BUT NO, Matthew HAD to charge me $14 for the pleasure of having my dog stand in a warehouse for 90 minutes. Really? Because I had asked and you confirmed the price. $7 per hour? That's outrageous! He shrugged. "Nobody really does hourly" OH REALLY I WONDER WHY... I am so annoyed by this entire process. This is a ridiculous model and I have no idea why we are letting anyone get away with charging a ransom for standing in a room with dogs, but this daycare takes the freaking cake... I will never ever ever take my dog here again. What a scam. read more

I love taking my dog to Barklandia! I find my dog always comes home happier and more calm! No bad habits - like when I take her to a dog park. She's always SO excited to go inside she will drag the person to the front door because she really wants to go inside. She even cries in the car while we wait for someone to come get her to take her inside the playcare. I'm happy they do temperament evaluations before accepting or allowing dogs to play with others. I just feel happy that my dog is safe within their care. And every staff member I've met so far had been so nice and understanding!! I take my dog to be groomed there as well. I'm so happy they are patient with her and kind. They give her some much love and they send me pictures to see how good she's doing. I've only had positive experiences coming here. :) read more

The groomer was very nice and my dog seemed happy but the cut wasn't what I requested at all.

Went here for puppy training. The training itself was good. The facility is not. The smell is horrible - I would come home reeking of urine and I could barely make it through class even with a mask on. It was overwhelming and disgusting. I assume it's because of the soft mats they use on the floor and some urine is absorbed and the smell is retained. When we went into the grooming room for familiarization, it was dirty and unkempt. I just couldn't take the stench anymore so we didn't finish the series. They don't offer any refunds, or I would have left 15 minutes into the first class. Unless they figure out the odor and cleanliness issues, I can't recommend anything about Barklandia. read more

All I can say is my dog is very particular. He is 6lb and is mighty in more ways then one. With that being said he doesn't run up and greet people...... until Barklandia. He legit runs full steam into this place like I'm a new mom saying goodbye to a kid. I sad cry and wave as he ignores me to the door. He comes back with the biggest grin, running full steam ahead. Jessica is AMAZING. I've been bringing my 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog to see Jessica for grooming since he was about 4.5 months old. She did excellent getting him comfortable with the grooming process while he was little and more manageable--he's 125lbs now! He is a BIG and strong boy and while he doesn't particularly like baths still he will let Jessica get him nice and clean! We love her flexibility with scheduling and the way she treats our boy. I really cannot say enough good things abt Barklandia and particularly Chelsea who grooms our dog. Our dog is a Bernese Mountain dog with a lot of anxiety so I have had many reservations abt sending her somewhere but she adores Chelsea. They are so kind, understanding, patient and do such a good job on her grooming! Raphael the owner is super communicative and answers any questions .They even send videos during the process. It takes her about 4 hours to get fully groomed and she comes out looking and smelling like she's been at a lavish spa. You will not be disappointed! read more

There's no doubt that the staff loves the dogs. We went to the evaluation & tried an overnight kenneling stay. The staff is very friendly & very organized but I will agree with previous responses that my dogs both came back wreaking of urine smells & that was just an overnight stay. Could barely get them both home b4 the urge to shower them both set in. Even after a bath, still remnants of urine smells & it required a doggie perfume spray to eliminate the rest of the smell. I do know they are in the midst of installing new floors this upcoming week so that could help solve the smelly problem. I would give them another try because the staff is so friendly & attentive. I do wish that they installed cameras in the kennels so we can see our furry family members during the entirety of their stay & not just in increments of designated play times. Overall a good visit but I'm hoping for great next time! read more

We use Barklandia for day care when the weather is too bad for us to exercise our dog ourselves. She is young and energetic and needs activity or she gets the zoomies. The staff all know our dog and always let us know how well she played. She loves going there! She is shy with people, but loves everyone at Barklandia. I had just moved to the area and was nervous about finding a groomer for my pup considering he has crazy fur that is not easy to handle and most groomers decide shaving him is the best idea. Let me tell you... This was the BEST I have ever felt after a grooming appointment, she reassured me throughout the entire process on how he was doing by sending videos and pictures of Kenai (my pup) throughout the entire appointment! He looked great, is so happy, and Chelsie did an amazing job with his fur and was the first groomer who did not shy away from the challenge but worked hard to make him happy and fluffy! On my dog's first day they sent me a text message with her picture to let me know how she was doing. I really appreciated that. The workers here are very unprofessional, disorganized, and lack detail orientation. We called at the beginning of the week to sign our dog up for daycare, she had been here before a couple of times, and they said "no problem we will see you on Friday!" Friday came and, after driving out of my way by 15-20 minutes to drop her off, they refused to take my dog because she hadn't been there in two years. None of that was mentioned on the phone and the girl working denied we even had an appointment when my husband verified his call log?!? The disorganization is not worth it. They have no outdoor area for dogs and your dog will be confined to a tiny playpen all day where you can literally watch them try to desperately escape on camera! You are much better off going somewhere else because this place will cause you more stress than you had to begin with. I only gave it one star because I had to, otherwise I would've elected 0 stars. read more

Best daycare/boarding I have ever used, hands down. Owner is extremely attentive and responsive, prices are fair and staff is great (which you can watch interact with your dog with their cameras). Our boy Ryker gets anxious in new situations and they worked with us to acclimate him to the location and make sure he only had good experiences while he was new.
