Pet Barn took the food back and gave me a full refund even though I had opened the bags. They're prices are no higher than PetSmart for anything I have purchased. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have been a long time customer at this store for years, however, it was sold to new ownership and has gone downhill since. The prices are way (and I mean way) above what you would pay at ANY other pet store. I save money going elsewhere even with having to use gas to get there. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired, but I have learned from other customers that the employees are the owners relatives and their friends so there is no expectations of excellence. It's sad, this used to be my go to place for everything for my pets. They knew me by name, would even offer to go pull what I needed to save me time, and would carry it to my car. Now it is just uncomfortable and unfortunately I no longer do my shopping there. :( read more

Been coming here since 2018 when I moved into the neighborhood. Always nice to be able to support a good local small business, everyone here is very friendly, and knowledgeable and many of the employees seem to stay awhile. They carry all of the ökocat cat litters, which is what I prefer to use with my three felines, bulk shelled peanuts for my Scubjays and Crow friends, plenty of seeds in packages and bulk for my other feathered friends. Good variety of quality pet food, raw diet, organics, treats, toys, feeders, carriers, medications and all the usuals. Pricing is average, some items slightly higher, some slightly lower. They can even special order things for you and accept coupons. Store is clean, disabled friendly, has a customer restroom and there's plenty of easy parking in a big shared lot. They also work with a local animal rescue and usually have one or a pair of cute and sweet cats or kittens in the store up for adoption along with a random rotating variety of birds, rabbits hamsters and other small animals from time to time. Best little pet store in town, definitely worth checking out and supporting. read more

I've been meaning to thank the helpful staff at Pet Barn for helping me pick out cat food that meets the specific health requirements of my lil' guy. See, our young cat developed a serious urinary problem where male cats are unable to pass crystals formed by mineral buildup. Our veterinarian's solution to our cat's issue was, of course, to recommend an expensive prescription diet available at their office. The cat recovered and was fine, but I was unsettled by the ingredient list in his new food. This particular prescription food relies on a high dose of sodium to make a cat thirsty and force them to drink more water so they will pass minerals more easily. So I started doing a little research. Cats, by their very nature, don't eat much grains, nor do they drink a lot of water as a result. Unfortunately, mass-market cat kibble is chock full of grains--even some of the "natural" stuff. It makes absolutely no sense that the very thing that caused the root problem for my cat--grain--was now a prominent ingredient in the vet-issued food that was supposed to help him. Never did our vet tell us any of this. I decided to say no to feeding my cat high-calorie, high-sodium, wheat-based food that would inevitably surface other health issues for him later in life. Upon the advice of a friend, I checked out Pet Barn. She said they were super helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to a more holistic approach to pet health. The gentlemen that helped me that first visit knew exactly what health issue my cat had and sympathized with my concerns. They helped me pick out a grain free dry food and low phosphorus wet food with ingredients that I can feel good about giving to my little guy. It's been over a year now since I have been going to Pet Barn. My cat hasn't had any issues whatsoever after transitioning him off of the prescription food. When I went to a major chain pet store before going to Pet Barn, they had no idea what I was talking about and didn't seem to understand my concerns about grains in pet food. The point is, Pet Barn gets it. It is obvious that they truly love and care about pets the way we, their families, do. read more

Everyone there is very knowledgeable about dogs (probably cats too but I don't know anything about cats!) and can give good advice and recommendations about the best food for your dog. Compassionate, knowledgable staff that know their products and pets incredibly well. They are very conscious about everything they sell and support. They sponsor cats through Columbia Humane Society and host them in their adoption pen with love and exceptional care until they get adopted- however long that might take. They have taken care of numerous numbers of my ex-foster kittens as they're waiting to find their forever homes so they don't have to sit in the small overcrowded shelter. I love love love this place! I receive the best customer service every single time I stop in. The staff is also highly knowledgable. I trust them more than my vet! They only have the best intentions for you and your pet and do not try to upsell you on anything. I am always blown away by the depth of knowledge they have about each individual pet brand. This place gives you way more value than the price you pay. My vet tried to convince me my 2 year old dog had liver issues, they used tactics to scare me in order to get me to keep coming back for visits. I went to Pet Barn and explained what the vet said. The manager explained WAY MORE than my vet did. He was able to direct me to a certain food that may help the issue that was being over dramatized by my vet. Basically, the food did end up lowering her creatinine levels. Phew, thank you Pet Barn! Every single staff member is helpful. I have a 2 yr old whippet who has special dietary needs and the Pet Barn has a great selection of natural and healthy dog foods. After the whole tainted cat/dog food scare from China, we wanted to give our dog something that is produced here in the US and that is what led us to Pet Barn. You pay a little more but we don't have kids and our dog is all we have so we spoil him and try to keep him as healthy as can be. They offer a rewards system for being a loyal customer plus some brands of cat/dog food have their own separate rewards that Pet Barn will keep track of. This place is awesome and can't say enough good stuff about this place! I have been going here for several years now. They are very knowledgeable. The staff is soooooo friendly. They have helped me with a pit bull that has skin issues. My vet wanted me to put her on Hills Science Diet Prescription fish-based food and I did for several bags at $80/bag. Her itching and little bumps went away but her skin was all dry and flaking and it wasn't before. I was talking to one of the staff here at Pet Barn and he said to bring in the bag and they could find one with similar ingredients. So next visit I brought in the bag and sure enough, they found one that was not just similar (First Mate) it was almost identical except it had more fat and more omega3 and cost $58 not $80! My dog's flakiness went away and her itching and bumps did not come back. If they don't have something they will check to see if they can order it for you. Tonight I came home after work at about 6pm, they close at 7pm, and I realized at 6:30pm that I was out of dry dog food. I hoped in the car and drove there (about 4-4.5 miles) and they said if that happens again just call and let them know I am on my way and they will stay (she said they are usually there til 20min after closing anyway). read more

They're super helpful finding supplies and will special order if they don't keep a particular product in stock.
