This is a HORRIBLE STORE. They put people in the management position who has no idea about pets and how to take care of them. I rescue betta fish for a living. And I've rescued over 10 at this store specifically. Most with great success, but one was so bad he only had one eye, had really bad fin rot, swim bladder disease, and a horrible skin infection. Unfortunately I caught it too late and he died. Every time I go in this place there are fish constantly sick. So I ask if they can take care of them or if they can surrender them to me. They don't surrender fish, but they will donate them to me for a $1 or $2. Not today. I tell someone about the fish and she goes and gets her manager the big bald guy. He didn't even say hi, wasn't polite at all. And was like tell me who gave these to you I want names. Are they male or female. Because this isn't okay at all. We are not allowed to discount fish even if they are sick. I will be having a big big talk with them. Then looks at the fish that were just swimming on their side and picks them up, and they swim "away" and he goes these are fine. These fish are meant to swim on their sides. They even make specially made hammocks for that. I could scream at this point. The lack of knowledge this man has. I was like you're joking right. And he proceeds to tell me most of them swim like that. I'm livid at this point. Because you're kidding right. They gave him a manager position and he wants to lecture me about something he clearly has no clue about. I told him that wasn't true at all. They swim like that because they are sick. And it's a problem when they are all swimming like that. That they need to learn to take care of their fish properly. Then he ends the conversation with " we actually have a very high turn over rate." Sir, that cannot be right at all. And if that's true then petco is worse off than I thought. If anyone needs to be talked to, it's him. He needs to be demoted, needs more education on fish, and he needs manners. I feel sorry for anyone that ask this man for help. Don't shop here. And no, I wasn't mad because I couldn't get these fish discounted. I was upset at the way he approached me and at the lack of knowledge this man has. I'm convinced they had don't their closing and just didn't want to help me get my fish. You lost a sell because you couldn't help a customer for 5 minutes. I've only seen kittens, rabbits and other small rodents up for adoption so this was kind of refreshing. The puppies are super cute and they get rescued from shelters by the adoption agency that works with Petco. This Petco also has a fantastic selection of products and small pets! They have a grooming facility and they have wonderfully helpful staff who are willing to answer any and all questions you have about their products. Great store! read more

Ask for the desheding shampoo, it really helped, especially this time of year when he is leaving a trail of hair wherever he goes. I came in here one day after my father had gotten off of work as well as many other customers. It was very, very busy with lots of customers purchasing what they needed for their loved pets. The store seemed very neat and tidy. A good selection of bird toys which is what I came there for on this particular day. As I approached the register area, I knew it was going to take forever to get out of the store. As I neared the end of the very long and only line, I decided to just put what I had in mind of purchasing back where I had found it. My father and I then left the store. If around 5pm is your busy time Petco, then that is the time you should have more employees on schedule to get people checked out and on with their day. These stpres could be a little more intriguing to go inside or be a little more inviting. Its hard to keep a pet store clean and smell so fresh and so clean clean. They always have what we need and it is close to home so it is worth it to still come to this location. They have a good selection vesides the lack of sadly to say it organic dog food, which are hard to come by in Bako. I've been going to Petco for years and I just realized that I've haven't given them a review. Anyway, my dog and I love visiting the store together. We always feel so welcomed. The staff is super friendly and remain patient with my dog, she barks frequently (she's half chihuahua) and the staff always gives her space. They try to get to know her a little, but respect her boundaries. Man in Aquatics is rude and inconsiderate. Two days in a row he wasn't ready for people to purchase fish at 10:30 am!!!! He has no excuse except than he is busy with delivery or something? That was yesterday's excuse too. A customer said 10 minutes before I got there, the lights were on in the tanks and he was allowing fish to be purchased. Well, I am done with PetCo!!! I found a very nice PETSMART on Calloway not 2 miles away and they have awesome staff. Their tanks are beautiful. Had no hassles with" being too busy". They were happy to help. I highly recommend them if you are frustrated with PetCo too. It's by the Wal Mart Grocery Store on Calloway. Update: 8/16/19: The Mickey Mouse mollyI bought on 8/12/19 is dead. Yet another store that doesn't care about their reptiles. The bearded dragons are 30+ degrees too cold. At that temperature babies can not metabolize their food nor absorb calcium properly, not that they were even given supplements. When I brought this to an employee's attention he shrugged and said that isn't his department. So way to go, selling people sick pets and not even caring. Sorry, Petco, I don't believe "animal care is your top priority" or I wouldn't see this same lack of care in every store of yours I have ever walked in. This is a fundamental problem within your company, and your employees do not seem to ever genuinely care. I've heard "not my department" at least a dozen times over the years, and despite promises to do better you never seem to. You should stop carrying reptiles and stick to food, accessories, and adoptions. It's unethical to keep animals like you do and pass the problems on to unsuspecting people at the cost of innocent animal's lives. read more

I usually go to the Gosford location but I was close by so decided to go to this one now I am a all pet lover. And what happened at the Rosedale location was not okay. Basically I have a fish tank that has guppy,brittlstone algae eaters,panda Polly, two snails,shrimp,and baby guppy's. I had requested two panda Polly's and three brittlestone algae eaters and I was disappointed now don't get me wrong they gave me those fish. But I was given some unknown snails and some baby I don't even knows. Now yay free fish and snails but I like to have a tank that when people ask I can say the names of all in the tank but also I have no idea if these would turn into aggressive baby's and therefore I am upset with these location the Gosford location has never done this and I was let down. I was very nervous taking my dog to get her groomed. I have a Labrador retriever that was shedding like crazy. I initially asked for pricing on shaving her for the summer. Lori did not recommend it due to her coat. She asked me to research it before I made a final decision (I am so appreciative of that). She recommended the de shedding shampoo and regular grooming. Lori was very kind and reassuring over the phone. She made me feel better about getting my baby groomed. They were very good to my girl and she looks great. They trimmed her nails really well too. I love Petco and my dogs love Petco! Eric Tilliey the team leader at Rosedale Petco didn't have to, but I think he should be recognized for what a great job he does! He's so friendly and nice and anyone needing help at Petco should ask for Eric because he'll get the job done. He helped me and my mom with an emergency with my dog even though he had got off work already. He came back to work and stayed 2 hours with us at the er vet and took care of everything and made everything a lot better. He went above and beyond my expectations. read more

I have been a customer of this Petco for quite some time now. I own multiple pets, two dogs and a Betta. I just recently went in looking to add a Cory to my tank at home and had to wait about 20 minutes or so for the one worker to help another customer; only to be told I could not buy a fish today as she thought my tank (five gallon) would stress out the fish. (Even though their tanks are SUPER great right?) oh well. I had gone there for a new tank for my Betta to cycle over the next few days and when I got home discovered it was missing over half the parts. Called customer service and they asked me to come and return it.. at eight at night. I have been here many times before for numerous items for our two fur babies. Usually toys, collars or treats and occasional fish food. No fur on my fish. Now that our pet food delivery service has gone out of business I've been forced to do what most people do and go buy dog food at a store. I was totally spoiled it was a fabulous service. Because I was the worst about buying dog food. Now eight years later.......... So to my extreme horror I realized that this is not an easy task as I thought it would be. There are hundreds of brands of dog food to choose from, who knew? Salmon, chicken, lamb, rice, sweet potato, gluten free, grain free, lactose free and on and on and on really??? For dogs??? Ok so now I'm thinking what do I get? Are they lactose intolerance or need gluten free? Do they prefer salmon over chicken? Then I'm reading on one bag that says "Better Tasting" Ok who's tasting it to know? Holy Heck it's dog food, I know but I don't want to be cleaning up after a upset stomach. So I went with Salmon, sweet potato and gluten free and they loved it no issues. But when I went back to get more, oh noooo, they don't have it in the big bag in that flavor. Ok I'm good for another week, so I go back and still out of that 30lb bag!!! But we have the 10lb. Ya right at twice the price. Ack!!! So I try a different flavor in the same brand but chicken and not gluten free. The dogs hated it....... Luckily they have a 14 day return policy to exchange for something else. At $50 a bag I was all about that. But now it's been 3 weeks and they still didn't get that 30lb bag in so I went with Lamb, sweet potato and gluten free. So far so good. So that's why I'm giving 3* I just want them to at least carry a good brand consistently so my dogs don't get upset stomachs. Otherwise variety they are not lacking and their customer service is awesome. Super friendly staff. read more

I was not impressed at all when I went to get my dogs nails cut. I could see my dog through the window and the employee was just very aggressive in her approach. Fairly new out here and was reading all the reviews on here and Google and to be honest, they were not very promising. However, I wanted to get my dog's picture taken for Christmas, and they were the only ones doing pictures in the morning. So I said, what the heck... Imagine my surprise when not only was it one of the best Santa's we've had (and trust me, my dog has met quite a few over the years)... but the staff were all very pleasant. And the cashier (I wish I had gotten his name).. well he was just super friendly. It was quite different from what so many previous people had written. None of these stores are really in my close area, but should the need arise, I would definitely go back to this store. And Roxie gave the store TWO paws up!!! I'm not sure this is the best place in the world, but it certainly is good for what we need... for the most part. It is a clean and friendly store. We have even adopted a cat here with TheCatPeople.org. The only cons here is that they dont regularly stock the kind of food we need in the larger bags (so we settle with smaller bags or going to PetSmart on Ming), and sometimes if the lines are long, it takes forever to get checked out. Either way, this is a decent place with no real amazing or horrific factors. read more

Overall, I enjoy this location. The store is never busy and I can usually get in and out very quickly. The reason for the deduction of one star is the attitude of the employees. The last time I was there I was treated very rudely by the cashier. He didn't greet me, he slammed my dog food bag onto the counter, didn't even allow me to enter my reward phone number in, oh and he couldn't even be bothered to fake a smile or tell me goodbye. It's funny though, sometimes he is the nicest guy, while other times he is completely unpleasant. Either way, you work in customer service, suck it up!
