NEGATIVE STARS.! A big F you to all the employees who were working there today minus the girl with Henna. Toon my dog to get groomed and it took TWO HOURS!!!!!! Two hours for a f*cking bath and brush. I asked for an outline trim and they didn't do it because "your dog was squirming around a lot". He's a dog. They do that. And if you didn't give him a cut why on earth would it take you two hours??? He had no matting, nothing that would take that long. Annnnnnnnd he nail was ripped off during the 2 hr bath and brush. My dog was bleeding and shaking when I picked him up. NEVER AGAIN. oh and when I was shopping for his treat after I dropped him off I waited at the front door for ten minutes and not a soul came over to help me. I had to go to the back and ask someone to come ring me up and the girl sighs and says "I guess I can do it". Well yeah, if you want me to pay for the items you might wants to do that. GROOMING:BEWARE! Took my dog here for grooming with a Kate or Katie(one of those names) She was VERY rude when speaking to us about our dog. We came at 9:00 Am and they kept him in a crate for over 5 hours and didn't start cutting him until 1:00 pm even though our appt was 9. He came back with cuts bleeding on his stomach & was in distress and pain due to bleeding and cuts. Do not take your dog here!!!! read more

The Manager SKY deserves this recognition!!!! EVERY time i go in there she is on GO mode! I have gone to this store for years and the amount of care and attention she puts into every animal that walks through the door is amazing. My dog Chester LOVES her. The management here has always been passively apathetic at most and the workers seemed like zombies. When she is here everyone has smiles on their faces. I have worked in management for years and it so refreshing to see a manager who works the floor and her staff with such love and humor. Unfortunately Petco in Alpharetta canceled my grooming appointment without a phone call to explain why. After calling and speaking to a very unpleasant and unprofessional staff member I was told my dog was flagged for biting which makes absolutely no sense because we frequent the Milton location. Highly disappointing and frustrating, be advised it seems this Petco may do as they please without any explanation or logic. read more

Well, prices are higher here than the much smaller store Pet Supermarket in Duluth. I find PSM much more attentive and knowledgeable as well as helpful. Recently they began to charge..10 cts for a bag, really? Go woke go broke,I will go to PSM and not have to be pilfered for nickels and dimes. Our family goes out of our way to go to this location because they usually have the best variety of fish than any nearby pet store to us. Even with supplies as they are nowadays, they still had all but one fish we were looking for. We had two very nice people helping us today. Unfortunately I don't remember the first guys name, but the second one helping us name was Kasey... Could not have been more helpful and friendly! I know good help is hard to find; especially now, but this one is an absolute keeper! Kasey not only helped us with our fish, but knew which fish were on order, knowledgeable about the ferret, and checked us out at register. I hope Petco knows what good employees they have! read more

If I could give this review negative stars I would. My husband and I dropped our dog here earlier today with a women named Katie who was flagged as a manager when I was booking online.Imagine my surprise when my husband brings our dog back and she is clearly in distress. She won't stop licking her genital area and scooting on the floor. When she walks she has to stop half way through to run her backside on the floor. We looked and noticed BAD razor rash on her genital area and the underside of her tail. She is clearly in pain. It hard to understand how a groomer (a MANAGER no less) 1) could do this 2) could not notice they have done this 3) not disclosed this to the costumer during pick up. It is bright red and inflamed and will require veterinary attention tomorrow morning. VERY disappointed in the service we received here. Update 11/25/22 Stopped in for Black Friday items and was so happy to see that all the stock has been shelved, fish tanks were clean with healthy fish stock, aisles were cleared of floor debris, and the staff was so helpful. Store manager, Jay, RFUSED to sell my-sister-in law a betta fish yesterday. He basically accused her of being incapable of caring for the betta and was REQUIRING a water sample be brought back to him in THREE days. Back story: my sister-in-law went to this store yesterday morning to buy a betta because she found her 9 year old daughter's FIRST PET EVER had died. Thinking of the child's feelings, she quickly cleaned out the tank, treated tap water with the betta water conditioner/dechlorinator and left it filtering while she rushed to the store to get a similar looking betta. She shared what happened with an employee and they discussed some betta care tips and they helped her purchase the new betta. She got home to put the new betta in his CLEAN AND TREATED tank and to her dismay found her other daughter's betta had also died. She was already stressed out about the first death and had to rush BACK to the store AGAIN. This time she was met with Jay, the store manager, who informed her she SHOULDN'T have been ALLOWED to purchase the first betta and that he was in his right to refuse to sell her another betta "since there had been multiple deaths". She explained that she did not want her daughters finding out their fish had died and needed to replace them (this is the first time we lose a betta). He continued to refuse to sell her a betta and offered no solution other than sending her home empty handed and having her wait three days after which he'd check to see if the water sample was acceptable.. If you're in a leadership position, especially being the STORE MANAGER, you should be understanding of situations like this one and BE KNOWLEDGEABLE of the products you carry in your OWN STORE. If he was so concerned with the water quality, he could have offered to sell her the "ready to use" betta water AVAILABLE IN HIS OWN STORE (see pictures below). Also, the betta conditioner clearly states "INSTANTLY conditions tap water making it safe for fish and plants" (see pictures below).There were definitely other options rather than straight up refusing to sell her another betta. Also, he failed to inquire about the bettas tanks at all. If he had asked, he would have known that each betta fish was kept in its own 1-gallon betta tank with filter and heater (see pictures below). My sister-in-water has done everything to provide a safe environment for her daughters pets. I have also been involved in helping take care of my nieces bettas, as I have been a fish parent myself for almost 10 years. Sometimes fish die. It happens. Being the STORE MANAGER you'd think you'd be willing to educate pet parents and help them succeed in caring for their pets rather than accusing them of being negligent pet parents. Also, we spent $24.99 on my nieces first betta. For ONE betta. Trust me, there was no intention in letting them die. This store needs better leadership. read more

I absolutely love this location, it always has everything we need for our birds, tropical fish and 3 dogs. The staff are always helpful and friendly, even when they are busy stocking shelves they will stop immediately to walk me to the aisle I need. The manager is a super nice young man. read more

This review is for the groomer. He did a fantastic job with a very nasty, matted, ridiculously stinky Golden Retriever. This dog looks and smells so nice I might even consider being in the same room now. Great, great job. The store is your typical Petco, nothing exciting. Prices on pet food are more expensive than Wal-mart or the grocery store so unless you're using specialty food you are much better off stocking up elsewhere. They do have a lot of cute items (toys, collars, leashes, etc.) but the prices on those are pretty dear, as well. There has never, and I've been coming here 4 years, been more than one register open in the store. There's usually not even a cashier there but you can track one down fairly easily. This sounds like a bad review, but it is really not. I keep showing up at this store because it has a nice vibe, cool pet ideas and a super groomer. read more

We have the sweetest dog and took him in to get bathed at petco today. We've used this petco before and had a great groomer but the one today was absolutely not it. I was handed the papers to go pay at the register while my fiancé waited for our dog only to find him with a cut on his head that he was told was "because the dog got out of his kennel too quickly." There is absolutely no excuse to have a dog come out of a BATH with a cut on his head and being told she couldn't trim his nails because he wouldn't cooperate. Definitely the cleanest PetCo I have ever been to, with the friendliest staff. Everyone seemed so excited to answer my questions and help me pick out the best for my babies! There Dog trainer is a life saver! He was able to teach my mentally disable dog not just how to sit, but how to play with toys, and brought out her real personality. And we can't forget grooming!! All the groomers here are so kind to my dogs and Even my little kitty cat.. I can really appreciate the time and dedication shown to the animals here, they all look so happy and healthy! Let me start by saying that I like this Petco store and its employees so I decided to give their grooming services a try despite numerous warnings online. I thought the price would be less than the other reputable place I used  but ended up only saving $7. When I went to pick up my dog, the cut was a mess. The fur on his face, legs, and paws was uneven. His tail still had knots. The groomer proceeded to chide me about how misbehaved my 12 month old shitszu-poodle mix is and that other groomers would blacklist him. This was his 4th cut in 12 months and I had never before heard this complaint. But this was not the worst of it. About a week later, my dog seemed to be in a lot of discomfort and he started licking his genital area 24/7. I took him to the vet who determined that the hair surrounding his private part was growing into the shaft causing it to get stuck and swollen. Other groomers that I have used were very careful to shave his hind parts very close and now I know why. Thinking I was saving some money by using Petco, cost me two trips back to the groomer to get his haircut correct and a $50 vet fee. The warnings are true. Do NOT use Petco for grooming! read more

This review is for the grooming. Not that this location actually gives a crap about customer reviews. I have a husky and paid extra to have him de-shed. I picked him up and he was literally losing hair as he was walking to me. I took him home and did the job the groomer should have done, it literally looks like they brushed him down once and said "yeah this will definitely get by". Then while I am brushing him, I found mats behind his ear from them not brushing him out like they should have SO I KNOW they didn't even give a fuck to even try and make look like they did their job correctly. Will NEVER take him there again. Same with my other dog who I also asked to get deshed and he's still losing hair as well. What a waste of money--- I spent 150 dollars on them to put some shampoo on my dog and do a also very shitty job of blowing him dry as well. If you have a husky or long haired dog, do not waste your money here. Im so pissed I spent that money and now have to do the job they didn't do. read more

Booooo Petco, boooooo. I will never shop at any of your locations again. This is why PetSmart dominates you. There's never anyone up front (or just one cashier/customer service/sales person), never a warm "Hello," and it takes forever to hunt someone down when all I need is a bamboo plant. I can take it out myself and write down the code. I carry a Sharpie around with me anyway (don't all the cool kids?). That and it always smells in there. I get it, it's a pet store... But dude. PetSmart hardly ever stinks and they have a ton more foot traffic. I digress. Bad customer service, apathetic employees, and over half an hour wait time to get .... no assistance. I left after that because I was tired of mouth breathing and watching the ONE employee that saw me waiting for her to finish up with a customer playing twenty questions for half an hour walk away and help someone else. To explain my mouth breathing... I have really bad allergies to pretty much everything except for dogs and the bird dander just cakes that place like Betty Crocker. So yeah, no bueno. The store is great but the Vetco Clinic not so much. The time advertised was 1:30-3:30 but animals didn't even start being seen until 2:10! I was told this was the way to go but the buck I saved on vaccines wasn't worth the length of time it took nor my son missing the start of his soccer game which was scheduled two start 2.5 hours after we arrived and waited in line to be the 4th seen. I was a longtime shopper at Petco's leading competitor until I found out that my Petco store (located much closer to me than the other place) will match prices. Now I am a regular customer there. They carry the high quality brand of cat food I need and it is regularly on sale. The staff is friendly and the store is clean, quiet and organized. Returns or exchanges are not a problem. Be sure to checkout the adoptable kitties when you are there. If you are able to provide them with a safe, loving home please do so. These animals will add joy to your life. read more

I've always had issues with this location. No one is ever around when you need help or to check out. But yesterday broke the camels back and will not step foot into this store again. I ran in to get dog food and I didn't realize they changed their hours due to the pandemic. When I walked in the girls said that they closed in three minutes and I said OK thank you I just need to grab some food real quick. Then every every minute for the last three minutes she went on the intercom to notify customers that they would be closing. As it was 7 o'clock I was up at the front register waiting for someone to come up to check me out. She then proceeds to not pay attention to me and worry about these two other customers who were just looking around well I am just standing there waiting to be checked out. She then proceeds to rush me and throw my items into a bag but it keeps on falling out and then grabs me a bag with a hole in it. I have never felt more unwanted in a store in my life. read more

I had a horrible experience here yesterday and will never be back! I took my two year old son to get dog food for our boxer puppy and wanted to inquire about dog training. We went over to the area for training and adoption and a very nice lady asked if my son wanted to go into the area and play with the kittens. Not even a minute later did the dog trainer come over and say, "I have a consult, you need to leave." I of course said no problem and we were out of the area within a minute but the rudeness of this woman to me and other employees was completely unnecessary, sad and disappointing. I will not be back and will obviously look for training elsewhere! read more

I really like this location a lot. I can always find exactly what I need, and they have no problem matching their online prices in store. The employees are always helpful, and floating around to answer questions. Plus they keep the store well maintained. Evan is a great helpful cashier and appreciate the extra steps he takes, even something as simple to put the purchase back in the cart while I'm paying. Give that man a raise! I was a loyal Petsmart customer but this location has converted me to a loyal Petco person. read more

This is my favorite location. They genuinely want to help you in this store. I've never had a cat before and asked tons of questions and no one was flustered. On several occasions the cashiers have personally taken me directly to the products I needed not just point me down an isle. The State Bridge location has terrible customer service. Pets and their owners are supposed to be welcome but we did not feel welcome at all. No one helped us when we needed it even after we asked so my husband and I walked away without purchasing anything. We will not be returning here even though it is the closest pet store to us.
