Pre-treated betta water available in store
    Ashley A.

Store manager, Jay, RFUSED to sell my-sister-in law a betta fish yesterday. He basically accused her of being incapable of caring for the betta and was REQUIRING a water sample be brought back to him in THREE days. Back story: my sister-in-law went to this store yesterday morning to buy a betta because she found her 9 year old daughter's FIRST PET EVER had died. Thinking of the child's feelings, she quickly cleaned out the tank, treated tap water with the betta water conditioner/dechlorinator and left it filtering while she rushed to the store to get a similar looking betta. She shared what happened with an employee and they discussed some betta care tips and they helped her purchase the new betta. She got home to put the new betta in his CLEAN AND TREATED tank and to her dismay found her other daughter's betta had also died. She was already stressed out about the first death and had to rush BACK to the store AGAIN. This time she was met with Jay, the store manager, who informed her she SHOULDN'T have been ALLOWED to purchase the first betta and that he was in his right to refuse to sell her another betta "since there had been multiple deaths". She explained that she did not want her daughters finding out their fish had died and needed to replace them (this is the first time we lose a betta). He continued to refuse to sell her a betta and offered no solution other than sending her home empty handed and having her wait three days after which he'd check to see if the water sample was acceptable.. If you're in a leadership position, especially being the STORE MANAGER, you should be understanding of situations like this one and BE KNOWLEDGEABLE of the products you carry in your OWN STORE. If he was so concerned with the water quality, he could have offered to sell her the "ready to use" betta water AVAILABLE IN HIS OWN STORE (see pictures below). Also, the betta conditioner clearly states "INSTANTLY conditions tap water making it safe for fish and plants" (see pictures below). There were definitely other options rather than straight up refusing to sell her another betta. Also, he failed to inquire about the bettas tanks at all. If he had asked, he would have known that each betta fish was kept in its own 1-gallon betta tank with filter and heater (see pictures below). My sister-in-water has done everything to provide a safe environment for her daughters pets. I have also been involved in helping take care of my nieces bettas, as I have been a fish parent myself for almost 10 years. Sometimes fish die. It happens. Being the STORE MANAGER you'd think you'd be willing to educate pet parents and help them succeed in caring for their pets rather than accusing them of being negligent pet parents. Also, we spent $24.99 on my nieces first betta. For ONE betta. Trust me, there was no intention in letting them die. This store needs better leadership.

I absolutely love this location, it always has everything we need for our birds, tropical fish and 3 dogs. The staff are always helpful and friendly, even when they are busy stocking shelves they will stop immediately to walk me to the aisle I need. The manager is a super nice young man.

Yeah, I'm looking at you, so what?

This review is for the groomer. He did a fantastic job with a very nasty, matted, ridiculously stinky Golden Retriever. This dog looks and smells so nice I might even consider being in the same room now. Great, great job. The store is your typical Petco, nothing exciting. Prices on pet food are more expensive than Wal-mart or the grocery store so unless you're using specialty food you are much better off stocking up elsewhere. They do have a lot of cute items (toys, collars, leashes, etc.) but the prices on those are pretty dear, as well. There has never, and I've been coming here 4 years, been more than one register open in the store. There's usually not even a cashier there but you can track one down fairly easily. This sounds like a bad review, but it is really not. I keep showing up at this store because it has a nice vibe, cool pet ideas and a super groomer.

Definitely the cleanest PetCo I have ever been to, with the friendliest staff. Everyone seemed so excited to answer my questions and help me pick out the best for my babies! There Dog trainer is a life saver! He was able to teach my mentally disable dog not just how to sit, but how to play with toys, and brought out her real personality. And we can't forget grooming!! All the groomers here are so kind to my dogs and Even my little kitty cat.. I can really appreciate the time and dedication shown to the animals here, they all look so happy and healthy! Thank you Alpharetta PetCo for always giving it your best.

The primary instruction was getting your dog's attention, the commands - sit, down, off, leave it, drop it and loose leash walking. Overall I was pleased with the overall instruction and experience. They did a good job of making sure the dogs didn't invade another dog's space. Homework was sent out each week to work on in sessions with the dog and this helped prepare for the next week's session. Would recommend.

She followed up daily to give us a report with photos and videos and continued to check in for weeks! We have the sweetest dog and our family could not be happier with our decision to put our pup into doggie school here!! The grounds are sprawling and beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the value far exceeded my expectations. We paid $995 per week, so about 2K total. I looked at some other programs which were about 2,800 with kinda crappy looking properties and very pushy sales people. We are forever grateful to ADT and Tracy! Thank you for our "new" dog!

The training style used was also based on rewarding Moose with play rather than food or negative reinforcement, which I really appreciate and didn't know much about before. I've parented/known many rescues in the past and never seen anything like the fear she exhibited. fully freaked out, I shot a message to Atlanta Dog Wizard with an SOS to help. Kat quickly got in touch and we had about a 30-min call, which provided me with INVALUABLE insight into my urgent situation. That information she gave me--keep in mind, I had paid no money for her advice or training to this point--gave me some practices I could use, right away, to make Raffi feel more comfortable. I still might officially use Atlanta Dog Wizard in the future, if Kat is any indication how the company does things. She has a passion for rescues and turning around challenging situations and making dogs (and humans) shine. Cannot recommend highly enough.

When I picked her up on Sept 9, I was told that she wouldn't be allowed to come back to the kennel as she "wasn't a good fit". She was extremely anxious to the point that she was shaking and had to be hand fed. Unfortunately, when I arrived back home and counted the trazadone, I saw that no extra doses had been given, just the bedtime dose. The pill bottle itself even said give extra if needed. My instructions also said "If she is still anxious, call her vet". When I called Countryside, I was told "We never call vets". The problem is, I wasn't called either and my dog was allowed to be extremely anxious when she could have been medicated. I would like to know why my dog was allowed to be so scared when Countryside had extra medication to give her and failed to let the vet or me know that she needed an increased dose. Countryside suggested I get a home caretaker. My dog won't let anyone in her house. She's be very abused prior to our rescue. I've been working with a trainer to help. I told the manager to go to Hamby Road Animal Hospital to get more food and have them call me for my credit card. No one followed through and when we got back my dog had lost two pounds because she wasn't getting enough to eat. It was very noticeable when I picked her up. Then Covid started and the lobby shut down. There were less employees too so for years now I've never seen the dogs outside like I used to. Plus our dog seemed hoarse the second to last time she was boarded there which struck us as odd. Last March 2023, I had to have surgery. We boarded our dog for only two nights. When she was picked up, not only was she hoarse again but she had to poop 3 times in a row. So we surmised she was put in her room and ignored. She would only bark if she need to go out or wanted her play and walk times I was paying for. Our dog was so well house broken that she held her poop and barked to be taken out so much she got hoarse. We decided that she would never go there again. She is dead now from cancer but the two trips we made last year before she got sick, we took her with us. We decided not to use this place anymore.

I had previously taken my dog to Wagalot, closer to where I live, and they require a "trial" of daycare before you are allowed to board them. Pet Lodge didn't require that which was convenient for me but also made me a bit apprehensive about the dog population. Both dogs stayed here from Thursday evening through Monday midday and it all seemed to go great. Everything we dropped off for them was returned to us and the employees were all very nice. We had them stay in a junior suite which is $45 for the first dog and $35 for the second. My bf booked his dog for additional play sessions but since mine is lazy I decided not to. They seemed well cared for when we picked them up. The only reason for four stars instead of five is because of the lack of technology. They have an online booking system which is convenient, but it's not super user friendly and I ended up still having to email them my dogs vaccination records although I had already uploaded them. Also, there are no cameras here. A lot of boarding/daycare businesses offer that as an option which gives pet owners peace of mind. It would have been nice to have that option but definitely not a deal breaker. We will definitely continue to board and daycare the doggos here in the future.

The staff who care for your furry family member should take extremely care of your animal and observe abnormal behavior in your animal from the time they arrive. I boarded my dog here twice. Each time my husband dropped her off. The first time my husband picked her up and when she got home she was coughing, vomiting and had diarrhea. I had to take her to the emergency room. The second time, I went with him to pick her up and when we got her home she had diarrhea and couple days later she started vomiting and her stool look like it had blood in it so again we had to take her to the emergency room only this time she did not make it. My baby passed away. I call the facility and spoke with a staff member to ask about any charge in her behavior and was told that she was extremely scared and was shaking. This is a behavior change. Someone should have contacted me to say that she was not happy there and was scared for her life or shaking. I understand it take money to run a facility. Yet! The first thing the staff members should realize is that these animals are our family and if something is not right with them call the owners and let us know. If only ONE staff member would have called me, I could have gotten her out of there by having transported to the hospital and my little Bella will still be here. Please think twice before you leave your love one at this boarding facility. The staff members need more training and need to know that these animals are not just dogs, they are our family. I'm crying as I am writing this review because all it took was a phone call and my baby will still be here.

The doctor took his temperature, did a quick checkup, and said he was fine -- then sent us home.
