You basically approach the left side of the counter and tell them your order, then you walk over to the right to pay. If you're dining in then they will give you a number to place on the table. As we sat down to wait for our food, there were more customers that walked in to dine in. I noticed they get a lot of mobile orders. I got the Pasta Bread Bowl and for my pasta choice I got Fettuccine with Aglio E Olio & Alfredo mix with added Pan Seared Chicken and Mozzarella. I gotta say the two sauces combined were really delicious! I recommend doing that if you're a white sauce lover. I felt like there wasn't that much sauce in the bread bowl so next time I would ask for extra sauce. I could go without the chicken next time. Overall 10/10, the breast is really good as well! The Eggplant Parm sandwich was watery and very chewy, I think the eggplant was either undercooked or sitting for a long time. Not good, would not be recommend. Also got the Chicken Parm sandwich, was better but lacked chicken and overall flavor. That said the bread on both sandwiches was awesome, my favorite part of the dinner. Killer bread. Onto the Alfredo pasta bread bowl, my girlfriend was excited to try it but was nothing like the reviews/videos she had seen to get us there. It lacked chicken, there was no cheese in sight and the flavor was very muted. Onto desert, the cannolis were really awesome and the tiramisu was great. So glad I did! .. the restaurant is very spacious and clean.. service was quick .. walk up order.. pay and take a seat and they bring out your order. I had ordered the ceasar salad and penne with meat sauce .. my hubby ordered the fettuccine pasta with Alfredo sauce. The ceasar salad was the freshes I've ever had a ceasar salad. Food was good, you order at one spot and the ticket gets moved to the cashier on the opposite side. Food took a while to get to us. It's more like an order to go and option to eat there. Tipping is optional but seems steep for a place where is mainly self serve. The bread bowl was delicious and they toast it up with a garlic butter spread. My kids enjoyed the pasta which says a lot since they're picky eaters. I've never had cannoli so not sure what it's supposed to be like. The shell was very hard. I was really craving some good pasta. I've always wanted to try this place, and was so excited to come. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two nice gentlemen, whom helped us take our order. I ordered the creamy pesto (pesto with alfredo) with spaghetti noodles and pan seared chicken in a bread bowl. My bf ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken parmesan (fyi, the chicken parm sits on top of marinara sauce!) We were both wowed at how delicious our meal was. The porportions were just right, pasta cooked al dente, sauce was wonderful and not overpowering and heavy! (You can mix sauces!) The bread bowl had that crisp crust, soft and fluffy on the inside. It was delicious and unique to see in sacramento. I felt myself craving the creamy pesto again the next day. This place is also very to go friendly! We were able to grab our own utensils, water, and to go box, if needed. The people who work at the bank nearby are so lucky to have this place right next to them! Found this place for first time and I am SO GLAD to have discovered this little gem next to a bank lol (i am jealous of workers there since they can just walk here for lunch). I'm always on the hunt for exceptional, Italian food, and it's not as easily found as one would expect. We were headed up the hill from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe, and stopped in Rancho Cordova at Petali. I was hoping for amazing, realizing that I would be OK with good. What we ended up with was mediocre at best. You order at the counter, and then you go find a seat. Based on the fact that this isn't a fast food place, but a restaurant, ordering at the counter and then the Personal on the other side of the counter, expecting a tip and there's no table service is definitely a pet peeve of mine. Please keep in mind that the customer is also expected to pick their food up at the counter, and then bust their own table. You're also responsible for filling up your glass, whether it be with water or if you've ordered a soft drink. So again there's no service and I just don't understand what a tip would be for. Handing me my food that I've paid for? Anyway, the two gentlemen working there I'm speculating might be the owners, they're fairly friendly, but they're not necessarily serving up good food. We ordered the lasagna and this pasta bowl that was served in a sourdough bowl. It sends me to say that both of these were just bad. Even despite being recommended by the gentleman on the other side of the counter, it just wasn't good. The lasagna was a cross between I couldn't tell if it was house made or someone tried to make it versus perhaps ingredients may have been thrown together? It also could've been something ordered like many restaurants do, and then just heat it up and served. Regardless of how it was created, it's just something that should not be served. The sauce is horrible. It lacks the depth that really good marinara should have. The lasagna noodles for baked dish were still al dente and an edible. We both struggled to try to eat part of it and finally just gave up. Nonna would have cried. The pasta bowl... It sounded incredibly interesting. It's a sourdough bowl that's filled with pasta and whichever sauce you choose. We added extra meat. Yes, it sounds incredibly caloric, and I would imagine that if you're able to actually able to eat it, then it would be. The sourdough bowl should not be the main part of this entrée. But when you can't eat the rest of it, that's pretty much what you're left with. Bread. I'm not sure what's going on here, but the noodles were also more than just al dente. They didn't even taste like they were cooked. The sauce again was horrible and the noodles didn't even wanna touch the sauce. We could not eat the entrée either. We tried, especially because we wanted to have dinner before our hour and a half drive. Sadly, disappointing. read more

I've been coming to Petali for years, and it's hands down one of my favorite spots. The food is always made fast, always delicious, and incredibly consistent -- I've never had a bad order here. The aglio alfredo sauce has a chokehold on me. Creamy, rich, and full of flavor -- it's my go-to every time. The staff keeps the restaurant spotless, which I really appreciate. I was in the mood for some good old comfort Italian food. Luckily there was one close to my hotel. Small menu but plenty to choose from with the different types of pasta and sauces. I opted to order the cheesy garlic bread for an appetizer, meatball sandwich combo, and cannoli for dessert. Food did not disappoint! Red marinara sauce and meatballs was delicious. I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures I was the only one in the restaurant when I arrived at around 2 pm in a Monday. The restaurant is quite large inside and appears to occupy about three spaces in this mall space. There were a variety of seating options from high tables to booths. There was classic rock music playing in the background. You place your order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. The staff was efficient. I ordered the special half sandwich and half salad and a drink. I decided to try their meatball sandwich and garden salad. The salad arrived first with fresh, crispy romaine lettuce, several nice sized pieces of tomato; cucumbers and topped with croutons, which I forgot to ask them to leave off. The balsamic vinaigrette was a pleasant dressing for the salad. The half meatball sandwich arrived, piping hot. I think it was a generous amount for a half sandwich with about three nice meatballs on a crispy bun. The bun seemed freshly baked and had the right amount of chewiness to its' crispness and was perfect for the meatballs. The meatballs had melted cheese atop them and a nice amount of garlic in the meatball, which I enjoyed. The meatballs were light and flavorful, although they needed a shake more salt to make them perfect for me. There was some marinara sauce on the meatballs but I would have liked a bit more. Next time, I will ask for a bit more sauce on the sandwich or add a small cup. I found the portions to be the perfect size for me. As an elderly person, I really love it when restaurants get the portions right I live close by but tend to forget about this place when I want something Italian. As EVERYTHING is spiking in price, it is getting more difficult to find good food that is priced decently. Thanks Petali for providing this option. Stopped into Petali by chance for the first time the other day. Their Sourdough Pasta bowls caught my eye and I had to give it a try. As I walked to the counter, Vic happily greeted me and asked if I need any help. I asked what Petali's more popular Pasta bowl was, to which he replied it was their their Pasta Chicken Alfredo bowl. And that their Chicken Parmesan was really good as well. Based on the recommendation, I ended up ordering the Chicken Alfredo Pasta bowl and some chips ans waited for my order. While waiting, I made some light conversation with Vic and inquired about the damaged chair and picture above the kitchen area. And was informed it was from a drunk driver who driver into the restaurant shortly after they opened l, forcing them to close for a bit to rebuild. Just a small reminder Petali has faced as a business, which hasn't stopped them, from providing great food and great service. Early into my order Vic wanted to confirm my order again and asked if I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. And I reconfirmed I got the Chicken Alfredo, which is what he thought but Chicken Parmesan was started instead. So while correting the order, Vic offered the Chicken Parmesan on the house. I was really excited to try this place after seeing it on Tik Tok. I knew that I wanted to get the fettuccini alfredo in a bread bowl. I also knew that I wanted to try the chicken parmesan. I noticed on the menu, that the options for chicken parmesan were to add it to the bowl, or to order it Ala cart. Since me and my wife wanted the same thing, we were going to split it, so when the person taking my order asked me if I had any questions, I asked what the difference was in the portion of the chicken parmesan between adding it to the bowl and ordering it Ala cart. I was asking, because since we were splitting the meal, I wanted to order the larger portion. So as im asking the question, and the guy taking my order is answering the question, I hear the asshole chef with the dumb and dumber haircut behind him, making noises and shaking his head annoyed that im asking the question. Not to mention he was banging the pans around and was noticeable irritated that he had to be at work, forced to do his job. The restaurant business is hard enough to be successful, so you don't need a douche bag like him making customers feel uncomfortable before you even get your food. Management should really look at this guy, because he is bad for their business. Anyways, as far as the food goes, I will keep it short. The flat bread pizza sucked. There was nothing good about it. The chicken parmesan was very good, I would definitely recommend it. The Alfredo sauce was good, but there wasn't enough of it on my pasta, most of it soaked into the bread, and the noodles were dry. The actual bread bowl was very good. it was soft and fresh. I think overall it was over a 3 star, but not quite a 4 star for the price. I've been to every restaurant in the shopping strip that Petali is located in and thought why haven't I ever tried this place. I have lived in this neighborhood for almost 20 yrs. Well, I finally did tonight and when I walked in remembered this place used to be a different Italian restaurant called Al Dente. Obviously, they have gone out of business and now Petali is operating out of this location. Ok Petali, I categorize this place as fast food/casual dining probably in the middle somewhere. Pretty simple menu with main entrees being the Pasta Bowl and the Lasagna. They have few sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, soup and appetizers. I just didn't get the feel of an Italian restaurant for some reason being in there. I ordered the pasta bowl so did the rest of the family, wife and daughter. I got the meatball & sausage spaghetti bowl. The meatball was pretty good, sausage was not all that impressive would not recommend. I can say the sauce to pasta ratio was not balanced. It was lacking sauce, pasta was quite dry. You have to take account that the inside of the bread bowl soaks up lot of the sauce. I believe it was the owner cooking with another employee in the kitchen. He brought my bowl out to me. I remember he mentioned that he would come back out and check on me to see if I needed more sauce but never came back to our table. I probably should have gone up and asked for more sauce but they looked pretty chaotic in the back with the just the two of them. The verdict and recommendation - Middle of the road I think three stars is adequate. Definitely ask for extra sauce when you order your pasta bowl. Again, I did not care for their sausage how it tasted and also how they were cut in strips. The meatball was a go it could of been a littler fresher thought it might of been reheated. The restaurant could use some Parmesan shakers and get salt & pepper shakers to replace the packets. This makes it so it doesn't feel so cheap like you're at Costco getting a hot dog. I know the owner is trying to save money but in my opinion sometimes little things like that make a difference. Give Petali a try you might like it. Grab your own utensils and then they'll bring the food to you. They have cold drinks in a fridge or fountain soda. Cash payment prices are slightly less vs card payments. I really loved their signature "petali" zucchini fritters. It had thinly sliced zucchini mixed in a fluffy batter, formed into large oblong shapes then fried. Husband opted for spaghetti noodles with meatballs. The bread bowl was perfect to soak up the garlic butter & olive oil sauce. I could not but "help" my husband to finish it. I got the lasagna which was full of delicious ricotta. A generous serving with bread that lasted me two meals. Their red sauce tasted homemade. It was a little too tangy for my tastebuds but it I still liked it. All pasta was was firm and toothy and held up well upon reheating. The two guys who helped us were very nice and funny. Very mom and pop feel to this humble pasta shop. Service was initially a little brusque, but quickly warmed up when we were presented our food. The petali itself was a little lackluster and had more breading than filling. The pasta and sauce didn't blow us away, but had solid flavor. We were pleasantly surprised by the soft, lightly oiled and crisp edges of the bread bowl. I was afraid the bread would be overwhelming with all of the other carbs in the pasta, but it was probably my favorite part. Big kudos for the cannoli, which was filled and brought out after service checked in on us several times and confirmed we were ready. Today we called to place an order for pickup for the first time based on the reviews in the area. Here is the experience of the call; 1st call - Phone picks up, says nothing places me on hold. The hold time was under a minute then hung up. 2nd call - Steve answers the phone, announces himself and hangs up the call. 3rd call - Steve answers again, places me on hold for an extended period of time.... hangs up. 4th call - It went voicemail. Must really be doing good there to treat potential customers that way. I am glad we found out now that this place is no good. read more

Thought the bread was excellent. Tried the bread bowl with capellini with eggplant. I think the spaghetti might be better - less overcooked. The eggplant however was very firm - was expecting a thinner, more tender slices. They were more than happy to swap it out for meatballs, although they seemed kinda dry - was expecting them to be simmering in sauce. Lastly, I really want brewed iced tea. read more

I love their minestrone soup. It was delicious, spices and herbs just right, and the vegetables were tender. The last time I ordered the minestrone, the vegetables were a bit raw, making the soup not so tasty. I was disappointed since I was looking forward to the soup, having ordered it before. Maybe the vegetables weren't cooked because I ordered it in July. I think I'm one of the few that likes to have soup in the summer.
