Not for cat adoption. Woman who runs it definitely is judgy based on appearance and age. Not pleased with the way we were treated by the person we needed to speak to about meeting a cat. Filled out the form handed it to her and were told no. My daughter well into her mid 20's asked about a cat and was told only serious inquiries and they have to qualify. She asked ok who do I speak to lady said me and turned her back. Mean while others that walked in did the same thing and were allowed to visit. Very rude and acts all high and mighty. We were interested in meeting an adult cat which I'm sure doesn't happen too often when surrounded by kittens. Visited on 2/21 3pm That being said Love the variety of products. The front counter employees and sales floor crew are super nice and helpful. Beautiful location. This new location is big, clean and organized. My favorite part is they kept the kitty city and you can get your kitty fix when you shop here. The enclosure is always clean and well maintained and all the kitty's are available for adoption. Tons of pet food, toys, and accessories. Cute dog cookies and birthday stuff. This place is great ! I am a huge betta fish collector and I find some of the most beautiful and rare fish here . Generally I find them to be fairly priced but most importantly the bettas here are more lively and healthy than those at petco/petsmart . The amount of choices for aquarium decor is so vast however pricey but for the perfect piece it's worth the investment. I have never had a single issue with this store they are helpful , kind, and seem to have chosen their positions as a result of genuine love and appreciation of animals/fish read more

The only thing I regret about my visit to Pet World was that I didn't get a thumbs-up selfie to complement Caleb's excellent photo here. Jokes aside, what an excellent store! My partner and I have a rabbit, and it's a coin toss whether we can find all the things we need at most pet stores, but we were seriously impressed at the selection here. Everything we could want is here, and we noticed how well-stocked they were for cats, dogs, and birds, too. Everything is bright and clean, and the staff is helpful too. We will be back! read more

I don't think this is a bad store, they seem to take really good care of their animals except for the bettas. Their most expensive betta seemed to have a broken back or something and all the betta cups had a lot of old food at the bottom. They had a very small selection of aquatic supplies and the betta set ups they were marketing are terrible for them. If you want to get wet pets and learn to care for them properly, go somewhere else. Edit: I went back because I felt guilty leaving him. I asked the cashier if he was discounted because he was sick. The cashier seemed to sympathize but another lady piped up and rudely said he came like that. I don't know if she was the manager or the owner. She gave me $10 off which I appreciate but still overpriced for a fish that is sick, I paid $24 for him. I tested his cup water when I got home and the ammonia was at 1 ppm, nitrites were past 5 on the chart, and the nitrates were around 10. Clearly the bettas are neglected and management doesn't care. I found and purchased the sweetest, adorable Netherland dwarf here a few months ago. I have grown up with bunnies (specifically most familiar with this breed) so I was well versed of rabbit care; the salesperson was grilling me about the arrangements for the rabbit (enclosure, food/watering etc.) which I was fine with (them wanting to make sure your not selling to someone who is going to stick it in a cage and forget about it) but a lot of the information was incorrect (as confirmed by my vet-- and my own suspicions) Anyway, I had a sneaking suspicion that finding such a sweet and beautiful rabbit in a pet store, such as this one, was a bit peculiar so I brought this bun to the vet for a wellness visit a week or two after I brought him home. Everything seemingly checked out but it turns out he had an underbite that would need to be cared for by either extraction of the teeth or routine "teeth trims." The extraction can run around ~$700 and routine teeth rims cost a few hundred every couple of months. Again, it was no big deal in the regard that I'd do whatever needed to be done to keep the rabbit happy and healthy, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this store may sell rabbits that are "rejected" from rabbitries in the area. Again, I had a feeling he was too perfect not to have something wrong with him, but was willing to do whatever necessary to keep him well. Unfortunately, during his routine neuter several days ago, he passed away unexpectedly during the procedure. I'm heartbroken and devastated. I'm happy to have been able to provide him a happy and loving home for the short few months we had him, but can't help wonder if there was some other underlying condition that was missed. Just a precautionary note-- if you're buying a small animal from here, be ready for any possible "extra" expenses that you may find pop up once they're taken to the vet and properly evaluated. read more

If you have a parrot, this is hands down the best pet store. They have everything. My girl eats Harrison's, and the only place I've been able to find it is online. Pet World is the only pet store that actually carries it. I was over the moon excited when I saw it on their shelf. They have a huge bird area, filled with more toys than I have ever seen. Today was my first time visiting and it certainly will not be my last. My friend and I came here specifically to see, and find out more information about hedgehogs. Not even 5 minutes of looking around Dan came up to us- let us hold a little guy, and most importantly gave us facts and answered all of our questions. I loved his honesty explaining that this wasn't a pet for everyone. They are a lot of work!!! We also wanted to see the sugar gliders! I've loved them forever. Again, Dan was so knowledgeable and passionate about talking about them. I think my best friend will be getting 2 in the future ( they should always have a friend- never knew!!!) Their selection of food, toys, accessories, cats/ kittens up for adoption!!!?? was above and beyond. The employees were all so compassionate, you could tell how much they care for all their animals- it was so refreshing. I came in here for the first time and I definitely will not be returning. First of all I was ignored entering the store. I then asked for help with fish and this young woman with blonde hair scowled at me and made me feel like a burden. Her attitude was despicable. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day, but she looked like she doesn't sleep and smelled strongly of cigarettes which I would not want my pets around. The store is messy and overpriced and the floors are filthy. I like to support small businesses but this place is out of my area and I would never recommend them or go back here. I seriously cannot believe the bad reviews on customer service! I am actually writing BECAUSE of the amazing customer experience I had. I was looking at the sugar gliders when one of the managers (I believe) came over and started talking to me about them. I THINK his name was Dan? Maybe? I meant to write this review last month when I had actually asked his name, lol. SORRY!! I'll have to chalk that up to pregnancy brain. Anyway- he knew soooo much about them and really educated me about what I would need, care, food, etc. I didn't walk out with one (because you really should buy 2!) but I'll definitely be back in the future to get them. One thing that I did point out to him was how unbelievably clean the store was!! He genuinely seemed to take pride in how often they pick up after the store. I mean- I almost walked out because I didn't think there were any animals there. I couldn't smell the usual pet shop smells of pets!! This place has been around since for as long as I can remember. I recently got a hamster and have been doing a lot of research on enclosure space etc. and I realize that the enclosures for their little rodent friends are so small it's so sad! The very LEAST AMOUNT of floor space should be 450sq inches per hamster and they should have enough paper bedding to burrow. This is ideal to make a happy hamster. They had pellet bedding and this white fluff inside their plastic hide out. It looked like the stuffing of the inside of a teddy bear. I have no idea if it's safe and I would not recommend anyone to use it. It's SMALLER than the hamster enclosures at petco and they offer kaytee clean and cozy for them instead of the pellet bedding. even my daughter mentioned their cages were too small when when we left! They also sell really small hamster cages like the critter trail cages that encourages ignorant first time hamster owners to buy these kinds of cages. The only thing I liked was that the younger staff were REALLY kind and friendly and they do offer a variety of stuff at a higher price point. There was other older woman just seemed like a mean lonely cat lady with one too many cats. She got pissed at my kids and I who were giving attention to the cats that were trying say hello to us. She said that they wouldn't be sticking their paws out of the cage if we didn't stand so close to the cage, so in other words she wanted us to "get the fuck away from HER cats." But looking back I can recall this store has never been kid/family friendly because I recall them giving me a hard time when I was a young adult looking to buy rabbit food and walked by to say hello to the cats. Just word of advice, don't stop by where the cats are caged because the cat lady will spazz out. If you want to adopt or even want to donate and spend some time around some animals, try MSPCA adoption center, they are very friendly there. read more

Awesome place. We have dogs and small critters (rabbits and rats) and can always find cool things here that you can't find anywhere else. There's a great selection of raw food and raw bones for dogs. Lots of cool toys and chews for rabbits! Always had good interactions with the employees. Had to dock one star since they sell rabbits, though. Here's what you need to know about Pet World in Natick from someone who use to work there when he was in High School. Six years after working there, when I moved to Cape Cod and decided to get a cockatiel, I drove all the way to Pet World in Natick to get him. These guys take amazingly good care of their pets; both the ones out front and the ones who are getting ready to be adopted in the back. Doug Sr. and I didn't always see eye to eye (we're very different people), but he and his son, Doug Jr. run a tight ship and have built an amazing business. I, like most people have seen the 60 Minutes reports talking about all these pet shops all over the world that abuse their animals or get them from puppy mills and I can tell you with absolute certainty that Pet World does not fall into that category. When you adopt a pet from them you can rest assure that it has been cared for by a staff that treats every animal as if it were their own. The one thing you should know if you're planning to get a cat is do not say "I'd like to buy a cat." They may respond very negatively to that kind of a comment and here's why... they don't let just anyone get a cat. You'll go through an interview as though you were adopting a baby (ok... maybe not quite that intense). Some people get turned off by this, BUT THINK ABOUT IT! They want to make sure their pets are going into loving homes. THAT is what I want in a local pet store and YOU SHOULD TOO! read more

While the employees take a while to warm up to you it's for a reason. With the competition of Petco and now Petsmart (who sometimes have incompetent employees) they expect people to come in with misinformation. They are very serious about the pets being cared for properly. They even have a sign by the fish saying something like "we will not set you goldfish to put in a bowl". They are very knowledgeable about what the pets actually need instead of just trying to push them onto you. I enjoy going there for the quality of life of the animals there alone. They know there stuff and won't let you inadvertently harm animals through ignorance. I am glad they are around. read more

As you can see, these 2 prod are exactly the same. One was 19.99 in a Boston shop on 2/17/20. The other was 28.99 at Pet World in Natick 2/22/20. I knew I was paying more but have a sick dog and needed the prod ASAP. It wasn't til I compares the 2 that I realized the huge price diff. I called pet world and spoke with the mgr who confirmed the prod was identical but said there wasn't anything she could do. So, my husband and I have gone to Pet World pretty frequently over the past couple years. About 2 years ago we were looking for a cat and checked out what SPIN/Pet World had. We played with two disabled cats, and were seriously considering getting them (except their neurological disorders made me dizzy and by the time we left i was throwing up). Marie was very sweet and helpful and we were pretty sure we would be adopting from there when ready. We ended up falling in love with the most perfect little old girl from a different shelter, but that's beside the point. Our old roommates got a cat from there, and even though it died suddenly, Pet World seemed willing to offer a replacement. Anyway, jump ahead to a few days ago when the 4 of us were in Pet World looking at the cats. There is this gorgeous big grey one that I knew (and was later confirmed) had been there a while. I inquired, as he is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm also convinced our cat would enjoy a boyfriend. Well, said male cat comes with a friend...even though every time I've been in Pet World I've never seen this cat socializing or even laying near others, but apparently they can't be separated even though they're both quite young. Unfortuntely, 3 cats is too much for us...and for some reason, on this visit Marie wasn't as friendly as she has been in the past. i understand the purpose of making adoption a little more on the difficult side as you don't want unhappy-endings, but I do feel like Marie (and SPIN?) make adopting a cat from them, giving a needy cat a good home, more difficult than it should be. My husband and I, our old roommates were all prepared to leave with a new cat last weekend. But, Marie couldn't even be bothered to try and introduce us to other cats. I'm very disappointed as that cat (and the one our old roommates would have adopted) would have found great forever homes. I hope Pet World/SPIN takes notice of this and maybe reconsider their attitudes towards potential adopters. Especially, experienced potential adopters with great references. read more

I've only shopped here three times in the past two to three years or so, since I don't live anywhere near them. I only go if I'm passing by or will be in the neighborhood Today was one such day, and went here since we were low on our wet cat food. I love their Pet Adoption Center with all the adorable kitties. I always take several minutes to take look at them. Should I ever need to adopt a cat though, it won't be from here. Their adoption fees are about 50% higher than most shelters and other adoption centers, like those at some Pet Smart stores charge. On plus side, they always seem to have a lots of nice kitties to choose from with a quite extensive history and description of their personality, which conveniently located in binders sitting in front of the quite large cage and an overhead cat walk (yes literally a cat walk!!).. I do love their selection of cat foods; the have more variety of them in such a comparatively small space than at any other store I've shopped. They have brands I've not seen anywhere else. The prices are a mix on the cat food. The premium brands for the most part seem pricier that other stores, but their mainstream brands, such as Science Diet, are priced quite competitively. However, some premium brands are priced fairly competitively, so you have to know your prices and choose those priced more fairly. Other items, such as cat condos, treats, wild bird food, and such are generally very expensive. They also have a rather archaic check-out system, not making use of the bar codes that every product comes with. The drawback to this from a customer's perspective is that check-out takes longer. If I lived nearer to them, I'm sure I would not shop here much more often than I do now due to their high pricing structure. read more

I can only speak on my dog's behalf, but she thinks they have the best super premium dog food and a great toy selection. I can attest they have the best prices and if you shop often, after 10 times you get 10% off the 11th time. The staff is a little cat bias, they wouldn't let Nina anywhere near the cats and her BFF is a cat. Can't we just all learn to get along. For those of you who are not fortunate enough to have a dog, their is plenty of animal stuff for you as well. A good fish selection, small reptiles, birds, and adoption cats. I'm happy with Pet World. The selection is extensive. There are hundreds of brands to choose from for food, toys, dishes, cages, supplies, bedding, and more. Most pet stores cater highly to dogs and cats, but here, you can find everything you need for your exotics as well. The also have a cat shelter inside the store called Kitty City. I haven't dealt with anything related to the shelter, but I do enjoy watching the cats! The animals living in-store are all healthy and have good living conditions. Nice to see! The staff does hang back, as some yelpers have noted, but when you approach them with questions, they couldn't be nicer. Typically the staff is knowledgeable about the animals, however I have noticed some mistakes. For instance, I was told that female Chinese hamsters housed together would not fight or show aggression. This is NOT accurate, because female Chinese hamsters are notoriously aggressive and should NOT be housed together unless they were litter mates. Perhaps they meant that these particular Chinese hamsters would not be aggressive (which is true as they were litter mates), but the way that information was worded could be misleading. The prices? Well, they are higher than your average PetsMart, but that's to be expected from an independent store. Nothing outrageous, as far as I've seen. read more

After trying every big box pet store in the area and a couple smaller ones, I can say with certainty that Pet World has the best rabbit related selection in the area. Several people have commented here on their prices being high, but I haven't found this to be true on rabbit gear. Don't expect a "typical" pet store experience when going to Pet World. Pet World is one of the three pet stores throughout the Golden Triangle (mega shopping area between Natick & Framingham). The other two being Petsmart, and Petco (which is literally 500 feet away from this place). Depending upon what I'm looking for, This could be either the best, or the worst place for me to shop at. First off, the location isn't very good. It sits in the far west side of the Sherwood Plaza in a separate area, with limited parking and direct access to Route 9. Second, they don't carry all that much. Yeah, it's not a chain, but I expect for the store to still carry all of the basics. They don't carry Pedigree, and according to the cashier, no "supermarket" stuff. Much more gourmet stuff. Third, selection vs size is weird. Imagine Costco or BJ's in a space that is 10x smaller than what it is, and carrying the same, MEGA products. They wouldn't be able to carry much.... Right? Well, Pet World is very small with much less space to move around in than Petco or Petsmart, yet they don't carry things in little quantity, like the chains mentioned, and only carry either large bags or boxes (specifically, in the dog aisles). It just make absolutely no sense, whatsoever. Overall, it's a fine place, and is nice to have a spot like this to avoid chains (which most people, as myself, don't like to always have to shop...... Local flavor is a nice change), and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I do wish they'd move to a new spot in this area with much more square footage. Ultimately, for now, 3 stars. read more

I'm "de-starring" them even more because of my latest experience. I bought a bag of Acana for my dog. When I grabbed it, it seemed smaller than usual and I had asked if that was the largest size they carried, "Yes, we can only special order the large sizes." Okay, that's fair. I bring it home and I'm about to open it and I look at the bottom of the bag - there's a little tiny cat icon there. They put cat food in the dog food section. Mind you, the dog and cat food bags of Acana are IDENTICAL besides bag size and the little icon. I drove my ass back there and grabbed the appropriate bag (in the same section) - Oh look! It's the big size! You know, the one they said they didn't carry? I'm totally cool with mistakes happening, but it seems as though mistakes happen nearly every time I go. Their pricing is getting really high, they often punch in the wrong prices, and items are misplaced. I will not be returning to this store. read more

The employees at Pet World are the best! I have an adopted chihuahua who was very overweight when I adopted him. He has a finicky stomach and cannot tolerate many dog foods. Right away, Pet World helped me find the perfect food for him (Fromm Gold Coast Weight Management) and now he's at his ideal weight. Then, when I went back today on vet's orders to start feeding lower sodium food because of a newly diagnosed heart condition, they helped me find a better low sodium dog food, showed me omega suppliments for heart health, and dog cookies with no salt and low calories to help him keep the weight off without worsening his condition. Every employee I've ever dealt with at Pet World has been super helpful. read more

I just wrote a scathing review of Coolen's in Canton, so I wanted to follow up with a review of Pet World since I like them. I've been going here off and on for a few years, and think they're great. They have a big selection of supplies, but the thing that has consistently always struck me is that they seem to care about the animals there. They don't even sell rats or mice, and the rodents they do have (hamsters, guinea pigs, etc) seem really healthy and well-cared for. The "cat city" is the best part though - we love going to visit the cats for adoption. The last time I was there they had 3 guinea pigs up for adoption, one of whom has now taken over my living room. I'm a little disappointed that they don't have as many parrots (especially baby parrots!) as they used to, because I used to like to visit them too. :) Overall, this is my favorite pet store in the Boston area. My kids like to go and visit the animals there too, especially Blue, the blue & gold macaw in the bird room, who always says hi to them! read more
