I am well aware that if I ask for a help in PetSmart, I will pretty much always either get help from a knowledgeable, customer service oriented, animal loving employee OR I will get nothing from an employee who is working hard at doing the minimum required to not get fired. By now you have likely guessed that today I got the latter. After closely searching the aisles for the item I needed, I rolled the dice and asked a cashier for help. Me : " where can I find a poop bag holder that..." Gen Z employee: *cuts me off mid sentence* " in the toy aisle." Me: " which toy aisle? there are more than one." Gen Z " the one over there" *gestures vaguely* Me: " I looked, so where exactly in the aisle is it?" Gen Z: *frustrated look* " OK I'll just show you." I follow Gen Z to location and she gestures to an area with I have searched already since there are similar items there. I ask her where exactly and she points to everything and says "all of these," clearly having zero clue what I was looking for since she stopped listening before hearing what I needed. I say I looked already and it's not here. Gen Z : "Then we don't have it" and walks away in a snit. She stole my snit! She wasted my time, gave me attitude and may as well have flipped me the bird to top it off. So I was irked. So, dear Yelpers, I came here to have my snit. Many thanks for indulging me. I've been a loyal customer of PetSmart for four years, but my recent experience at the grooming salon was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I arrived 8 minutes late for my dog's 9:45 AM grooming appointment. Upon entering, I found a line out the door and patiently waited my turn. Unfortunately, no one greeted me, and I felt completely ignored. A groomer, Hannah, glanced outside but didn't acknowledge the growing line. After waiting, I was told I was too late, even though I had been outside for 10 minutes. The groomer seemed stressed and said, "I can't do it. You're late," without offering any alternatives. She mentioned I should've called, but calling while waiting in line wouldn't have changed anything. Instead of offering solutions, I was told to cancel and reschedule. However, there were several options they could have taken to resolve the situation: Rather than turning me away immediately, they could have asked if I was willing to modify my dog's grooming experience to fit the time I arrived. A shorter grooming session, or adjusting the focus of the session, could have worked for both of us. If my assigned groomer wasn't available, they could have quickly reassigned me to another available groomer, which would have minimized the delay and ensured my dog was still taken care of. Alternatively, since PetSmart offers walk-in services, they could have added me to a later slot that day, even if it meant a slightly longer wait for my dog. This would have shown flexibility and a willingness to accommodate. I left the salon discouraged, only to realize I had another appointment in 15 minutes, making me 45 minutes late. I returned, explaining how inconvenient this was, but was met with no resolution--just a dismissive "Have a nice day." The lack of empathy, communication, and professionalism was appalling. A simple acknowledgment of my situation and a few alternative solutions could have turned this into a positive experience. Instead, I was left feeling completely dismissed. As a loyal customer, I expected much better treatment. This experience has left me questioning whether I'll continue using PetSmart for grooming moving forward. read more

We have used this grooming location several times before and our dogs came back looking great. However, after this most recent visit, we are absolutely stunned. Our Bernedoodle went in looking like a beautiful mountain dog and came home looking scraggly, chopped up, and neglected. We specifically asked for a scissor trim on his feathers and light cleanup around his hind end -- that was it. Instead, they hacked off the fur on his tail and clipped him in a choppy, haphazard way with zero regard for his double coat. You can clearly see the hack job they did on his tail. It now looks like a gnarly coyote/hound tail -- nothing like his breed. When I called to ask why they would do this, the groomer (the same one he had previously) said that because he tinkled during grooming, it was somehow easier to chop all the fur off his tail rather than wash it again or call us. Are you kidding me? He likely peed because he was nervous or excited -- and their solution was to clip off his tail fur entirely? We even said, "Cut him the same as last time." That is not what happened. He is 75% Bernese Mountain Dog -- a double-coated breed -- and you do not clip down a Bernese coat unless absolutely medically necessary. It will never grow back the same. Beyond aesthetics, this kind of clip interferes with proper thermal regulation. He can no longer enjoy staying out in the snow the way he did before. We paid for an agreed-upon grooming plan and received something completely different in return. The disregard and poor judgment here are unbelievable. If there was an issue, they could have simply called us. This will take months to correct -- if it ever fully does because in many cases it NEVER GROWS BACK THE SAME!!!!!!!! We got a SWISS mountain dog coat breed for NEW ENGLAND WEATHER so he could ENJOY THE SNOW and PETSMART just removed his proper coat and proper thermal regulation to enjoy that kind of QUALITY OF LIFE because they said he... PEED. Grooming and grooming knowledge is supposed to be their specialty. Clueless decision-making at this level feels entirely inexcusable. We are beyond disappointed and absolutely DISGUSTED. This was a very stressful and traumatizing experience!!!! To update: The manager did apologize and offered me a sweater for our dog during cold weather and a refund so that was appreciated. However, this dog is now shedding profusely all over our home because his out coat is chopped down so it's caused a continual headache for us, especially after paying for the deshedding "Furminator" treatment. read more

My dog Max is a rescue puppy we got last August 2022. Max can be a hesitant dog to strangers and even our family/friends. Max has been going to doggie day camp for over a years now. They treat him so well, he loves them! Everyday when I bring him in his tail starts to wag as I check him in and he see's the manager. I swear he loves them as much as he loves us. They do fun photos monthly and even celebrate his birthday. We've even started to use their dog hotel when we go on vacation. He always comes home tired from all the playing he gets done there. I would suggest this doggie daycare/hotel to anyone in the area. That's how we started going by coworker who had a great experience as well and suggested I take Max. We also did two courses of dog training with an associate named Julia. She ran really great classes and had so much patience with all owners and puppies. read more

I visited this location for the first time last week, and was pleasantly surprised. There was NO animal or pet food odor at all, unlike many similar stores. It all seemed nice and clean. I was there for the fish section, and the tanks were pretty clean and fish looked healthy. Their live aquarium plant selection was rather small BUT they were almost all in good condition, which is rather rare for chain store plants. Their live Betta fish were all in clean water, and also looked healthy. You can tell a lot about a location by how their Bettas look. As an ex-parakeet parent, I also looked in on theirs, and they, too, looked perky and healthy. I will definitely go again in the future, as long as the standards are being kept up. read more

Just had the most awful and unprofessional experience at Petsmart with my cavalier King Charles, Rocky. Both the head groomer, Kevin, and store manager Jess, refuses to groom our dog at his given appointment time after accepting him gladly at drop off. They called us five minutes after drop off saying he was a danger to employees and himself and he had to be picked up immediately. Rocky is the most gentle dog, who has been groomed at this location for many years, boarded at the pet hotel there and banfield is even our vet. He has never posed a problem anywhere. Back story - Kevin had an issue with my husband and other dog last week and said he was only accommodating us today. He wasn't accommodating, we had an appointment. Turns out they booked another dog at the same time and decided they didn't want to deal with Rocky, which came out in our heated discussion with Kevin. They made up stories about Rocky's behavior being dangerous. When we showed up to pick him up, he was sitting on a leash next to the woman at the register, happy as can be wagging his tail. Obviously not a danger to anyone if he was sitting there on a leash out of the kennel. Two other dogs in the waiting area and all he did was sniff them. Very dangerous. The store manager Jess did nothing constructive with the situation and claimed she was listening to our phone conversation deceptively without identifying herself. She said Rocky was a danger to her employees. Again, if he was such a danger, why did they take him out of his kennel and have him on a small leash out in the open when we walked in? When we arrived, they changed the story and never said he was a danger to employees, but a danger to himself, which was an outright LIE. Bottom line is they refused to take him for grooming because they double booked and were angry with us from last week. Completely unprofessional, disgusting, deceitful behavior. Kevin even continued to lie to our faces when we picked Rocky up. He was dismissive, rude and a disgrace to his profession. Take warning before bringing your pets here. I took my dog here for grooming, and I will never go back to this location or another pet smart, if this is the standard. My dog's fur is a complete mess and there is still shampoo on his face. His golden retriever tail was not brushed or cleaned, and he looks worse than when I brought him. I also paid for the Halloween special for $25, and I didn't get anything in that special that I had paid for. No report card, either. When I went to take my dog to checkout, I forgot my leash in the car. I went to go get it, and the man told me no, just to use the slip leash. My dog choked himself the whole way out. Outside, he peed the longest pee -- I'm guessing they never took him out or let him go in three hours. They never gave me my dog's collar back either, I had to go back in and ask for it (and the worker pulled it out of his pocket). While I was there to drop my dog off, the man in charge of grooming tried to calm another dog down, and forcefully sat the dog down and yelled, "Stop that." I had a bad feeling when I dropped mine off after watching that. The worst experience, and that's just from my end. I hope my dog wasn't traumatized, and I can take him anywhere else to get groomed without him getting anxiety. read more

These places tend to get a bad rap and most of the time its hit or miss. I visited the grooming portion of this location and also shopped in the store and every employee I came into contact with was excellent. The groomers here are awesome and they bathed and groomed my two goldens and were informative, helpful and a pleasure to work with and communicated with me every step to make sure I knew what was going on. Plus the store portion has a lot of stuff and their prices are competitive. I would come back to this location over others any day. read more

Another smooth vacation when Zak goes to doggie day camp and over night boarding. He does really well over night, plays in either the little dog room or the mixed breed room. He also got a full groom and came back looking like a handsome little rat lol. Clean shaven with his new scarf he was all smooth and fresh. Paid for 2 dog training classes in a bundle. My husband took our dog to train every week. When we got to the beginners class Mike the trainer said we can retake the class if we are not satisfied. After a 2 classes, we had to pull our dog due to family emergencies and we couldn't take him every week. We called to get a refund or see if we could rescheduled the class until our child was born. I called multiple times and was told that it shouldn't be a problem. However Mike never called his back. This place is a rip off. Grooming isn't great either. read more

The grooming was awful. My dog's fur was completely uneven. I asked for a $35 'halloween special' which I was charged for but didn't get. It included, among other things, nail grinding. I'm very sure they didn't do this, because they quicked his nail and didn't notice. My car looks like a crime scene. read more

Petsmart Pet Hotel was a boarding place we used for our dogs for years and until July 2, 2019 we were always pleased with their service and care of our pets. BUT...early June 2019 we made reservations to board our 17yo dog from Tues 6pm July 2nd to Sat afternoon July 6th, and they had all the necessary info from our Banfield vet 20 feet away in Petsmart store. THEN the afternoon of July 2nd they called and said they won't board dogs over 18 yrs old...I said our dog is not 18...they said at 17yrs 9mos she was too old to board with them and cancelled our reservation. WHAT???!!! 17yrs 8mos was ok but 17yrs 9mos is not? And why didn't they say something when we made the reservation a month earlier??!!! They have had her birthdate in their computer system for years! Fortunately, with 4hrs to find an alternative for holiday boarding, a friend's adult child volunteered to take her. We will never use Banfield Pet Hotel again. Jeeze...last-minute age discrimination towards our dog after sitting on our reservation for a month? Not cool, guys. read more

Left my dog at the pet hotel received a phone call the next day and received a voice mail saying there was an altercation and I was responsible for all medical bills. When I returned the phone call, I was told my dog was antagonized by another dog and my dog "injured" the other dog. I was then told both dogs were excited yet my dog had no scratches and the other dog did so I was liable. My dog has never had any instances of aggression and has been in many pet hotels. When I asked what happened no one could speak to the occurrence. When I asked to see video I was denied. This leads me to believe the dogs were Not supervised or poorly supervised. Petsmart even told me on the phone that my pet was not aggressive it was just two dogs getting carried away. Yet I am liable for a $186 vet bill?! I no longer trust Petsmart with my pet as there appears to be no supervision. Stay far far away!!!! Update: I picked up my pet the same day. My pet had an obvious injury to his leg that was clear with him walking. When I asked if he had received the same level of medical treatment as the other dog I was told that the staff at the pet hotel did not see a reason to have him checked out! So my dog was never assessed? My dog was injured and not even looked at! I cannot express how disappointed I am in this whole company. I have many friends who I had referred but seeing how this incident played out I will be sure to tell them NEVER bring your pet to this facility. read more

I've gotten hamsters from here and they turned out to be great. I got them for an affordable price and they're soooo cute! The only bad thing is the cages they have for hamsters are not Ideal for healthy hamster living. Besides that PetSmart is a great place to shop. My English bull dog got very sick after he stayed this pet hotel. Everybody know English bulldog is hard to keep healthy, lot of skin issue , breath issue. We went to Houston for family business . when we came back to pick up, he started to cough and hardly to breath. We take him to EMERGENCY because we were afraid of him stop breathing while sleeping. Just ok for grooming. We took our pooch there several times. The last time, we were told she was too matted and needed to go to a vet to be shaved. They also tried to sell me some grooming package where I bring her in frequently. In fact, we had worked harder to brush her, so we're surprised that after so many visits, now she was too matted. Anyway, we took her to Especially for Pets, where a professional groomer told us she was absolutely no trouble and her coat was easy to deal with. And, no kidding, the grooming was so much better (e.g. face fully trimmed). It was also a little cheaper. So PetSmart's ok. They had done adequate jobs on my dog, though I usually ended up trimming her face. It must be a new policy re matting, or else they're looking for revenue. But I'm glad it happened because I found a much better groomer at Especially for Pets. read more

Horrible. Scary. Stomach turning. I was there to get simple nail trim for my puppies. I watched this poor puppy wither and scream in pain while having their claws clipped. This is not my first time at a groomers and I am familiar with dogs and sounds they make when they dislike something. This poor puppy was withering in pain. I did not know what to do. NOT SAFE GROOMING FOR DOGS. ANIMAL ABUSE!!! This place deserves no stars. My puppy Winston, who is super well natured was taken here to be groomed on Saturday. He has gone to the groomers elsewhere multiple times before and had no problems before. After being groomed here, he came home with both ears inflamed, watery eyes, red bruises around his but and constant licking of the skin. The groomer had absolutely no experience and instead of dematting, shaved his fur way too close to the skin and got the skin! Winston is brushed DAILY so there was no need to go that short. Not only does he look terrible now, but he also refuses to walk, refuses to be active, is constantly licking himself. Also, they did not even trim the fur on his face! The service was incredibly unprofessional, from the vet to the groomers. The workers at Banfield are rude and complete quacks. The doctor said Winston was suffering from allergies, and then on a separate occasion, the nurse made us purchase tick medication when we told her Winston was already on an edible medication for ticks and worms. Way to make my long haired dachshund look like the world's fugliest beagle. Whatever treatment you did on his coat (that i did not ask for) made his once silky soft fur turn dry and brittle, now standing on ends from head to toe like he stuck his nose too far in the electrical socket. You cut his nails wayyyy too short. and after an overzealous shave on his private parts i'm simply amazed he managed to get out of there with what's left of his goods still intact. +1 star for him coming home smelling like puppies and roses. read more

Better than Petco. Pet Smart has a few things going for it. 1. Selection. When I go here I can find a reasonable selection of products, in stock. 2. Prescription Food. When my vet was out they sent me here. 3. Nicer store. They have cats to look at, dogs to watch playing. 4. Vet in the store. But the one big drawback for me is Doggie Day care / cat adoption center. I have considered founding a "save the animals from Pet Smart" organization every time I see the sad faces of the cats shoved into an enclosure that doesn't let them walk (or stand) and the over tired dogs running around in pee at the doggie day camp. There is always one dog that walks over and gives you that look like.. please nice human, help me. And yet you can't. The enclosure is too small, the workers have too many dogs... I would never bring a pet here. read more

While the store itself is just OK, the real tragedy is the boarding/daycare. I was in there last night and watched the boarding clients be let out. About 10 dogs got let into a tiny room, much to small to do much more than stretch their legs. The dogs obviously didn't know each other and several of the larger ones began posturing for dominance mounting each other, barking and menacing each other. While tragedy did not happen on this occasion, it was immediately obvious to me that too many dogs who don't know each other in a very confined space is destined will lead to disaster. The really sad part was the dogs all began peeing copious tidal waves of urine on the floor. The tile in these little rooms is already not really very dog friendly, as it gives them very little grip, but once COVERED in pee, all the dogs were literally slipping all over the place. An attendant was in there with a mop but it really did more to spread the pee all over the place and make the floor more evenly untenable than actually do anything about the problem. read more

We love petsmart and Banfield! We despise the pet hotel. The manager of the hotel is rude and manipulating. Back in June, we got a puppy from a friend. We don't know what her breed is, her mom and dad were adopted. She has the head of a pitbull but a body of either a lab or boxer. Regardless, she's so stinking cute. We wanted her to get socialize and what better way than to go to doggy daycare at the pet smart hotel! Our puppy was about 4 months old, and we all know puppies are crazy! We scheduled an appointment for our puppy to go to doggy daycare. Upon arriving, Tara, the manager of the pet hotel didn't even acknowledge me or my husband but immediately bent down to our dog and said "She is a pitbull, we don't allow that breed". We kindly told her that she may have some pit in her but her vet paperwork says she is just a mixed breed. She then started to pick at some scabs on our puppy. We told her that her skin scrap came back negative and our vet said she doesn't know what it is, possibly dry skin. Tara immediately had an attitude. We explained to her that she is a super friendly puppy that just wants to be cuddled and play with humans and other dogs. She told us that our puppy has to be closely monitored because that breed is know to go after other dogs necks. I reassured her that that will not be the case with our pup. We left with a rock in our stomachs. My husband and I looked at each other and we both said to each other that we are going to get a phone call sooner than later. We were so right, almost to an hour on the dot, we got a call and were told that our puppy is aggressive. My husband and I were were so confused. We know our puppy is not that! We were also told that she will have to be separated from the other dogs until we come pick her up. Needless to say, our plans for that day was not so eventful. We just kept thinking over and over how our cute, cuddly little pup was aggressive? I can honestly say that is not the case. We also noticed on our pup that the scabs looked like someone picked them. We called the next day to see if we could find out what happened. Truly, answered the phone and said that in their computer system, that our pup was aggressive. It seems as if nobody wanted to go further into detail as to explain the situation. We called corporate and told them about our situation. They said they were going to put in a call to the District Manager. The next day we went to petsmart to see if we could talk it out. We spoke with John the General Manager and he was able to Clarify. John told us that our pup was labeled as aggressive because she has a lot of energy. Aggressive and having a lot of energy are two different things right? John offered a few Courtesy one on one play sessions and that he would slowly inter grade her back into day camp. We agreed. My husband has had numerous conversations with John about our pup after the times we dropped her off at the pet hotel for one on one. We agreed that after she gets her spay that we would give doggy day camp another try. He went on about how they would have to see were our pup would fit in with her energy level because she is hyper. During our conversation, he admitted that there are other dogs that frequent the hotel that are hyper and crazy. So now I'm a bit confused. You say that my dog was hyper and that because of that you had to separate her from the other dogs... but then you say that there are dogs that are hyper in dat camp? Can someone explain to me how this is fair? I feel like this is discrimination against my pup.. because she looks like a pit and is hyper, she is the one who has to be separated? Yet, the other hyper dogs are allowed to stay and play at doggy day camp. We love the employees at petsmart! They all love our pup and she loves them right back! But why do we have such an issue at the hotel? Is it because she's a pit? read more

I recently boarded my dog (a 55 lb. lab mix) at PetSmart in Framingham and was happy with my overall experience. I was staying in Boston for the weekend and decided that it would be easiest to board my dog close by rather than boarding her at home (near Philadelphia). I knew I would inevitably miss the Sunday afternoon pick-up time and have to let her stay through until Monday if I boarded her at home. I scheduled my dog's stay over the phone and the person I spoke with was able to answer all of my questions and get my reservation set. He also called my vet to make sure our dog had all of the necessary vaccinations (she was missing one, but we had enough time to take care of that). I ended up having to change my reservation at the last minute to just one night because of an impending snow storm, and making that change over the phone was no problem either. I booked our dog for a half day of group play on Saturday as well as an exit bath. When I arrived to drop her off on Friday afternoon, we also added an hour of play to that list. Unfortunately at some point during the playtime that afternoon or evening, our dog got bit in the ear by another dog. PetSmart called and explained exactly what had happened and took our dog to the vet hospital to be checked. While I guess it's not ideal that she got bit, this is certainly a risk you can run when dogs play together in a group -- not everyone is a match. I was really satisfied with how the staff handled the situation and felt that my dog was safe and well cared for during that incident as well as the duration of her stay. We left the next day with antibiotics (we did not have to pay extra for the vet check-up or the medicines). My biggest complaint is that we had some additional questions when we went to pick our dog up and the team member we spoke with was a little short and rude. I was also a little put off that they charged and extra $4 for administering the medication she needed on Friday night and again on Saturday morning. That just seems a little over the top when we'd already paid to board her there and the incident that required the medication certainly wasn't something we asked for. I inquired about the charge, but she didn't seem willing to remove it -- given that it was a relatively small amount, I just let it go. Someone in an earlier review mentioned that their dog had to go to the bathroom immediately after leaving boarding. We found that to be the case with our dog as well. I don't think it's a matter of them not attending to the dogs, rather the inside setup they have where the dogs are supposed to go. I suspect that my dog was not terribly keen on the idea of going inside, despite the "cues" they have to make it seem like the outdoors (I read about it on their web site). I think that's a bit of a weird idea that PetSmart has as a company, but our dog has been fine since we've had her back -- no accidents or irregularities. Overall, I think you can feel safe leaving your dog at the Framingham PetSmart. The staff really seemed to care and were very interested in all of the dogs. They handled an adverse situation well and our dog seemed happy and safe when we picked her up. read more

For a frequent business traveler, Petsmart pethotel is a god sent. Every time I drop off my dearest Puppy, I breathe a sigh of relief knowing that he'll make new friends, have fun, and be well taken care of. I've tried everything from babysitting my dog at someone's home, having a dogsitter coming to my home, looking at kennels at veterinarian, none of which worked to decrease the anxiety of my Corgi. But he's ecstatic about going to Petsmart, always treads away happily to spend a few days in the company of other dogs. The staff are obviously dog lovers and they remember him by name, I don't doubt that he gets plenty of belly runs too. The on-site hospital are also a plus, it is really comforting to know he can be treated right there and then if something goes wrong. The grooming salon also makes sure he's clean, brushed, and smells sparkly before coming home. read more

Don't EVER use PetSmart pet hotel! I made a reservation for NYE over a month ago for our dog. They call me TODAY, roughly one week to his stay to say that his Bordetella & rabies vaccines will expire the morning of New Years Day, the day we would have been picking him up, by 9am. They refuse to let him stay without updated vaccines. Of course with one week's notice, and our vet closing for the Holidays, I can't get him in for the vaccines! At the time of creating the appointment, their employee convinced me he was all set to go after we discussed his expiring vaccinations. I could have easily gotten his vaccines updated this past month if I was warned up front. We clearly had to cancel his stay, and will never use PetSmart again for any of our dog care needs. So please, only use this place if you're willing to have your plans completely overhauled by an inadequate staffing system. read more

To be honest, I was a little nervous about leaving my nervous little boy, Scamper, at Doggie Day Care. Scampie isn't a dog, really. He's my tiny tiny infant child. He loves humans, and doesn't care much about other dogs. I wasn't sure he'd have fun, but I didn't want him to be alone all day, after years of having a human around basically every day and every night. So he went to day care... and he had a BLAST!!! He's a wienie dog, and there were three other teeny wienies there that day! They also wrote him a Pawgress report at the end of the day, which was damn cute. The staff here is really sweet, and you can tell they love their jobs! Scamps will be back, for sure. Probably Tuesday... I should call them. read more

PetSmart Pet Hotel: I let my dog stay at the PetSmart Pet Prison a few days ago and it was the biggest mistake of my life. When we went to pick him up they refused to allow us back there to see him and the conditions he was housed in. A manager has to be convinced to show us and the area was awful. He was a rescue and his cage was 10x bigger at the shelter and they cared about their animals more there. What I wasn't told is if you don't pay extra ($25-$50) per day; they don't let your dog out of it's tiny cage more than twice for a bathroom break. He came back smelling like urine and was obviously upset when I picked him up. Thank goodness my dog was only there for 3 days and it still cost $150 dollars... for what exactly? A shoe box and 6 meals. Stay far away from here if you care about your pets and their livelihood this place should be better regulated by people who care about animals. read more

Wow. Just wow. This store is SO much more than a pet store...... it's a hotel too!! Who knew there was a hotel in Petsmart. Well wait, not a REAL hotel..... an ANIMAL hotel! COOL. Plus they had spaces they were training the dogs as well as a play area for all of them, that people who were shopping could watch. This MAY possibly be where I bring my dog when I'm on vacation (which isn't too often.....). Anyway, about the store: It's definitely one of the larger Petsmarts, yet it's also one of the older ones. Definitely not as nice (and remodeled) like my locals in Walpole & Westwood, yet it's better than the dirty one in Bellingham. At least the items were organized, and the floor was clean. My cashier today was very friendly and really cared about making sure everything was correct (in my rewards), and was helpful.... which is always great to find in a pet store (plus, Petco & Pet World are BOTH down the street, so they DO have some competition....) -1 star because of price scanners. There are 2 and NEITHER worked today! What is up with that. But, when I brought the item to the register the cashier was fine with doing a price check, and later, the manager said they would be fixed very soon (I hope they are fixed by the time I come back...) We have our little guy groomed here. They always remember us and him, and know what we like. They always groom him exactly to our description and in a timely manner. It's very conveinant to drop him off with an appointment made, and then pick him up in a hour or two while I run errands around Natick. We have also used the Pet Hotel twice, and I will never board him anywhere else. We get him a puppy suite that has a bed off of the floor, a tv that constantly plays to enterain him. He gets scheduled treats and play times with other dogs. He always comes home well rested and happy after being here. I know he has a good time, because he never gets nervous or anxious when we walk in. ON the contrary he gets excited and starts wagging his tail. read more

Nice clean store. Great prices compare to other local pet stores. Very pleased with the friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend a monthly drawing to like a gift basket for pets. Only entered when you spend a certain amount. Or maybe a gift card that you can use to either grooming or hotel and maybe vet services. Definitely will be here often read more

I've had my dog groomed here several times and I've never had an issue. I do have a Boston Terrier, so it's not a very tall order, but she comes home smelling clean, happy and shiny. The groomers are very friendly and helpful and were able to squeeze her it for a quick nail grind one day when we brought her in without an appointment. We also left her at the Pets Hotel/Doggy Day Care for a few nights earlier this month and we were very pleased with the staff there. We usually leave her with friends but that arrangement fell through a few days before. She got to play with a lot of different dogs and we got a thorough report on her stay when we picked her up. The staff in the retail section is very friendly and knows the products well. It's cheaper to buy food at Wal-Mart or Target but everything else is a good buy, and they're always sending coupons if you have one of the Perks cards. read more

I very rarely write reviews but here goes. Groomer yelled at me for walking in four minutes late. I had only been outside of trying to get my dog to go to the bathroom before heading in. Then my dog wasn't feeling comfortable and was resisting going with the groomer, Kevin. The groomer tried to be nice to my dog but put a tug leash on and continued to tug and pull the dog by the neck with the leash to try to get him to go in. I tried guiding him from behind so it wouldn't hurt his neck. My dog yelped and snapped at him - because he was being tugged by the neck - and that was it, I was told he wouldn't be seen. By the time I got back to my car I had gotten texts that his future grooming appointment was also canceled. Very disappointed in how the dog and I were treated as I have been a very friendly customer prior to this visit so it felt quite alienating to be treated so coldly. No one in either side should be treated like that, and no one, especially a dog, is happy when they are pulled by the neck. Just a really disappointing experience. read more

Their animal care is horrific, which isn't surprising because that's what PetSmart and Petco are known for. As a company they pretend to care and put up signs about how they value the wellbeing of their animals, but this has never once been reflected in any of the PetSmart stores I've visited, even in other states. PetSmart's corporate and regional managers simply don't emphasize proper animal care. Their small animals are also often sexed incorrectly, which can be seen even without taking taking them out of the tanks. Today I visited this store and the entire time I was there, probably 60% of their small animals had no water bottle in their cages. They weren't simply empty, they weren't even in the tanks at all. Even if they were doing a full clean of the cages or changing water bottles, which they weren't, there is no reason that the animals shouldn't have access to water for that long. I also noticed that there was a tank of at least six guinea pigs that had no water bottle and no hay. I don't know if the staff is aware of this or not, but they should always have access to both, as in 24/7. Hay makes up 80% of a guinea pig's diet, and if they don't have enough it can lead to serious health problems. These are just the beginning of this store's issues with subpar animal care. Beyond the animal care, most of the time I come in here there's not a single staff member in sight other than the cashier, who has to stay at the register and can't help customers very well. This makes for a poor customer service experience. Whenever I don't know where something is or have a question, I have to figure it out myself because the employees are nowhere to be found. And on the rare occasion they are around, I'm given advice that I know is untrue. It would be great if they even admitted they don't know, rather than spreading false information to an unknowledgeable customer base. read more

Don't board your dog here. Picked up my dog today after a 2 night stay. Waited about 10 mins for dog to come out. Dog's butt and surrounding area were covered in poop. They scambled to wipe off what they could with wet wipes before they brought out my dog. Of course the dog was still a mess. I wonder how long the dog was laying there in that condition. How did they not notice this until pick up time? The dog that got picked up before me had red irritations on his back leg. The owner asked what had happened. They attempted to blame the irritations on the dog being nervous, and possibly chewing on his leg. The owner didn't believe this. He said the dog never chewed on his back legs anytime in his life. So this dogs injuries remain a mystery. read more

Doggie Day Camp/Pet Hotel: All of the dogs look so sad and pent up- there isn't enough space for them to run and play. I thought about sending my dog here, but after we visited I didn't feel comfortable leaving him there. I recommend doing a walk through before you make your decision. Store: several aggressive dogs visit this store which makes shopping overwhelming with small aisles. The prices aren't any better than other pet stores- even with coupons.
