    PetSmart Grooming - Horrible job!

On the day of our appointment my cat was attended 10 minutes later, she wasn't handled gently. The groomer said the cat was stress and won't add any more so she wasn't washed. When I saw my cat I was shocked. Patches all over her, her mane wasn't trimmed evenly. Here are the pictures. The groomer told me she had 25 years experience grooming pets.

My first experience here was at their Grand Opening, where I met some of the staff and my dog and I enjoyed the festivities. The sales associates all made my dog feel like high royalty with all the attention and affection they gave her, and the managers were there to represent the store and seemed friendly. The woman manager (I believe named Cheryl?) is a bit rough around the edges, but she's efficient, knowledgeable and gets things done. The male manager (whose name is-I think-either Chris or Mike, and I can't for the life of me remember which - sorry!) is super friendly and can carry on a great conversation with customers. He helped me with an issue I had where a sale item wasn't ringing in at sale price. I didn't feel inconvenienced at all by the wait time at the till since he was such a joy to talk to. My second experience was with their grooming salon. It is a much smaller salon than the ones in Clareview or Skyview, but I believe the service I received and the job they do there is heads and tails above the rest! My dog, Princess, went in for a groom with Seth in early January. I was able to get an appointment in the same week I called, whereas other salons had quoted me at least 2.5 weeks ahead or up to over a month. Despite her usual tendency to be a total man-hater, she was completely at ease with him because of his calm, soft-spoken demeanour. He was all smiles and he treated her so considerately you would have thought she was his own. He was careful to confirm with me everything the details of everything I wanted done, and was understanding when I said I didn't want certain things due to her super sensitive skin and allergies. He got the job done in a less time than Clareview usually would because he was dedicating all his time to my dog. That was the nice part of using a smaller grooming salon - I knew the back wasn't full of dogs ahead of mine in line so that she would be forced to sit in a kennel, waiting. She looked great and for a dog whose skin will get red and itchy from something as gentle as being scratched a bit too much behind the ears, she had very little if any skin irritation. It was a great experience for both her and I, and I will undoubtedly bring her back here again for future grooms. I think this new store is definitely worth a visit. The selection of product is somewhat more limited with the smaller space, but for an everyday trip to buy a toy, pick up some food, or book some grooming, it's a great choice.

They have a really nice selection of just about everything considering its size. They also offer a dog grooming service. Staff are very friendly and willing to check if items not carried can be ordered in just for you so that's great. On top of the dog and cat items they do have a small area in the back for smaller pet needs like hamster, bunnies and guinea pigs. They carry this great line of feed and hay by a Canadian company called Seed to sky. Hands down this is the best hat I have found. It is sweet, green and isn't dusty like other hays out there. Also the feed is really great because it doesn't contain a ton of mystery ingredients like most feeds you find in pet stores. Basically what you see is what you get. So automatically I'm a fan. With almost daily offers and a loyalty reward program this place is definitely worth checking out.

After perfect results with Groomer Aspen, we assumed the store knew what it was doing. So my trusting wife hands over her Fur Baby to this Clown groomer... and what did we get? I wish i could post a pic here... From a big happy Great Pyrenees winter dog who lives outside year round to one that is going to be forced to stay inside for his safety. The only skill the Clown groomer learned is to shave it shave it! His bottom half is nearly bald and all scraggly like they were fighting over the clippers!! The wife was then told over the phone to pick him up and "come back next Tuesday for the bath and nail clipping" Well aint that nice!! We are expected to drive another hour to bring the dog back, for the first two tasks that should have been completed? Ah NO... To move ahead, The "owner/manager" has a very limited knowledge of customer service and as seen in the Google reviews on their Page her only true skill is getting AI to puke out gaslighting scripts blaming the Pet owners! We went to the head office that leases these people the "name" and found lots of sappy apologizing, and a return of the fee (obviously) Which they made the wife go to the store to pick up! This in turn lead to more harassment from the AI loving "owner/manager"! One more thing, don't be fooled by the "star count" on the review page. Most of that was their before, based on the previous Dedicated GROOMERS!!

HORRIBLE customer service. Phoenix in the grooming salon seems to think that greeting a customer…read morerudely is appropriate on the job. Worse than this, the manager was standing just a metre away, and either condoned said rudeness, or didn't seem to have any control over the situation. My dog is a little under 3. We have been going to the Petsmart grooming salons for a long time now, and I've often purchased the highest end cut/bath/add-ons and packages. Today I did something different: we went to the park beforehand, and Molly got wet in the water. That being said, her hair is still pretty short and was in no way matted before the Dog Park , nor after. I was first greeted by the manager when I got into the grooming salon. I said so sorry, she normally doesn't come in like this. And the manager said no worries at all, we'll make it work. I felt relieved by that, because of course we don't go to the dog park or get wet just before an appointment! Then the groomer PHOENIX came out, and she seems to struggle with a basic hello, or a friendly greeting...? Because she moved onto saying "I'm gonna have to charge you extra" right away. Wait what? Haha customer Service and politeness on the job has left the chat! "Yeah, she's matted. I'm gonna have to charge you extra." First of all, back when my dog used to have long hair, and when she was matted, no groomer at Petsmart or any other salon in the city ever made this claim. And if they were concerned, they still had customer service skills. No one has spoken this rudely to me in regards to grooming ever, nor should they. Somehow Phoenix circumvents the need to have Customer Service skills, looks at something that isn't severe at all, and claims that she needs to charge me extra. Phoenix seems to think that it's appropriate to speak rudely to people. Or, it's not her fault and she was trained or allowed, somehow, to be this way with some new management..? ‍ As I was pretty surprised at both, her lack of politeness, and at hearing her proclamation of needing to charge me extra, she then stepped over to my dog and checked for any mattedness. And low and behold? My dog wasn't matted! And Phoenix had to concede that my dog was not matted, as she could see all the skin underneath easily. But somehow that was insufficient for Phoenix, and she immediately moved onto the tail. Latching onto the tail, she said "well I'm gonna have to charge you extra because the tail is matted." I was surprised to hear this as well, as in the previous two appointments I noticed that my dog's tail wasn't really fully brushed out. But I didn't want to mention it because if the service is at least of average quality, it's not always necessary to point out an issue. You can let some things pass. It's called social skills to know what you have to bring up, rather than bringing up any little thing and in a rude and unprofessional manner *cough Phoenix cough * Except now, Phoenix claims that her tail is matted but who, Phoenix, also claims that she's been grooming my dog this whole time? Lol who? YOU!!! So it's on who...? to have made sure that my dog's tail has not amounted to a matted tail after months of being with you? Phoenix then proceeds to say "yeah I'm gonna have to charge you extra because I'm gonna have to comb this tail out." Then she also says: "I'm gonna have to cut it. So if you want your appointment today, I'm gonna have to cut it." So which is it Phoenix? Are you going to have to charge me extra because the entire dog is matted? Oh no, that wasn't true and you had to concede to that not being true, because you can't make stuff up... So then you are going to have to charge me extra because the tail is matted? Is that it now? And then you're saying, you'd have to spend extra time combing that tail out (and like I said, the tail has not been combed out very well for a couple times now), all slowly adding up to a matted look. And then you're saying that you'd have to charge extra because you're gonna have to cut the hair off the tail. Which is it? If you're going to want to be this stressed out, rude with your customers - in front of the manager no less - changeable and tricky to deal with, might I suggest 10 years of therapy to get your emotions and stress hormones under control. I've gone through lots of challenges in my life as well. But I have a tad bit of wisdom to never speak to a customer, client or any person at work in that way. Does Phoenix know any of this at all? Or is she being enabled, because her rudeness is encouraged by management? I cannot imagine such a lack of social skills, professional conduct, impolite communication being enabled by management. No one deserves to have to communicate with someone in a store who is erratic, easily agitated, and rude. THUMBS DOWN.

Border collies are only suppose to live 12 years but my Dexter is still going. I believe it is from the food. I found it way better than production line quick stuff to only expand in the belly and is full of dyes. Dexter's coat is very shiny and he still has lots of energy. I would recommend this store to anyone, matter fact I have. I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and the price is awesome. I get a large bag for $70.00+ but it lasts him 5 or 6 months so it works out to only $13.50 a month. You really can't beat that. Dexter's food is always down for him, I do not feed him on a schedule. He is perfectly healthy and like I said its because of the food. You will be happy you went to this establishment.
